We loved the food here and the service was also excellent. We were surprised how quiet it was for a Friday night but were told they only had us booked in and they do a lot of takeaways. It’s a shame as the restaurant is visibly lovely, with lots of traditional Thai style furniture and decorations. Anyway, it was certainly one of the best Thai meals we’ve had so we would recommend it to anyone and it’s very close to the centre of Bath.

I decided to pay this place a visit due to the good reviews on Tripadvisor. Initial impressions were great. Lovely looking restaurant and the guy looking after the restaurant was very friendly and chatty. I ordered a Pad Ka Pow Pork but unfortunately the pork was very fatty and the whole dish lacked much taste or spice. Maybe I picked the wrong dish or they were having a bad day but it just wasn’t up to scratch.

We have visited Thai Basil twice now and throughly enjoyed it both times. The food was absolutely incredible, so much flavour and plenty of choice on the menu. The atmosphere is lovely, and the staff are amazing. The waiter who served us was great; very attentive and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will certainly be back again soon! Thank you!

Went to Thai Basil with a group of work friends. Had a great time, service was excellent and the food was brilliant. Being a group we couldn’t all decide what to have. Alex gave us a range of dishes from the menu for us to share that he suggested and it was perfect. Absolutely stunning food. We had a great meal and we will definitely be going back.

Beautiful food, we wasn’t sure what to have, but the owner advised us very well. The service was quick and the price was very responsible. Best meal out I have had in years.

Did takeaway of their chicken fried rice and it was amazing! I ate it 30mins after buying which means it was already a bit cold but still enjoyed it thoroughly. Now I want to go back and try other dishes. The staff are also very helpful and friendly.

Lovely Thai Restaurant in Bath. Food was delicious and freshly prepared. The prawn dumplings were my favourite. Cosy atmosphere and attentive service from Alex & Lek who were both delightful. Definitely a must if you are visiting Bath.

FANTASTIC food, really delicious. Best Thai food I've ever had and best food we've had for a long time. Thai green curry had so man flavours, soft-shell fried crabs in papaya salad was amazing! Coconut rice also very good. Prices were very fair. I would definitely go back.

Love the Thai food and the Singha draught beer, the manager looked after us. They also did chicken nuggets and chips followed by banana fritter for our young son.

I came here for dinner on a Saturday night with my friend for dinner. We had a Tom Yum and Tom Kha soup each for starter and Spring Rolls, and two Panang curries with rice for the main course. The food tasted delicious and very fresh and we really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and kind. I would really recommend as this is my favourite Thai restaurant out of the many that are in Bath that I have tried. Thanks for the lovely meal! ☺️

Personally I'm not a Thai food fan, we came here because my Mrs loves Thai food....not sure what she had, but she said she loved it. I had a lamb shank Thai dish & in all honesty it was really tasty, also had spring roll starters....very Chinese..

We were a group of 8 friends meeting up for a mid week social evening. We unanimously agreed that our mixed and varied meal was excellent. In quality, authenticity and variety. The service was friendly and efficient and the ambience was relaxed. We particularly enjoyed the variety and standard of the food and would highly recommend the Thai Basil.

We ordered a set menu for 2 , the starter was a selection of deep fried spring roll , prawn toast , a very rubbery fish cake and chicken satay most which was straight out of the freezer no fresh salad with it apart from a bit of lettuce all very greasy and bland , main was green curry which was definitely not freshly made not a lime leaf in sight or fresh veg ,also we had beef dish with ginger again not very good beef was a bit rubbery not very nice at all . Sorry but could have made much better myself!

Ordered a family take away for our new years eve dinner. Me and my daughter had a upset tummy from the horrible beef stir fry. The food wasn't piping hot when arrived. Very disappointed as I spent nearly £80

Went here for a birthday dinner of 11 guests. Had to wait 1h45m before our main meal arrived. Quite crazy really. Must've been a busy kitchen.

Come here if you want to wait 1.5hrs for your food to arrive…painfully slow dinner service. The kitchen prioritised takeaway orders before dine in guests. This meant that we only got our mains at 9:30pm. Honestly, I’d hesitate to come back here given the service.

Seeing the good reviews we were disappointed with our visit. Sadly we were the only ones in the building initially therefore there wasn't any atmosphere but the food was only luke warm. We did mention it to the waitress who took one dish away and it had obviously been put in the microwave. The mixed starters were over cooked but the dumplings were delicious.

We ordered take away last night and it was absolutely fantastic! Very quick and really tasty. Obviously we didn't eat in at the restaurant but I'd have no hesitation to go back. We're vegetarian so occasionally that can go against us, but absolutely not in the case of Thai Basil... Thanks very much, we'll do that again.

We hadden menu b besteld. Voorgerecht was lekker. Hoofdgerecht was ok, met name de eend met kerriesaus. Vis weas erg spicy. Maar dan de bediening, de dame die ons hielp weet niet kennelijk wat bedienen is. Ze hielp ons niet, we moesten om alles vragen, ze ruimde niet af, gooide het eten nog niet op tafel. Ze was de hele tijd aan het appen, zei geen gedag etc. We hebben dit nog nooit meegemaakt. Even werden we geholpen door een man, die was super aardig en legde alles uit.

We ordered spring rolls and pad thai. Spring rolls were clearly not made onsite and were probably frozen bought from another provider. Pad Thai was a very bad- soaked in tomato sauce and incredibly sweet. We weren't able to l finish it and had to give it back.

Outstanding genuine Thai dishes. I have eaten in many Thai restaurants including in 3 locations in Thailand. We had the best combination of 4 dishes I have ever eaten. The attention to detail in the curry sauces is terrific and you can taste all the elements. None of the curries were 'ruined' by loading in coconut milk which is often overwhelming. These sauces are delicate, thin an very tasty. The first course of Dim Sum had a home made sauce with at least 6 elements I could taste. Not salty or too spicy. The Chicken in the Massuman was melt in the mouth showing lots of time in preparation. We will be coming back soon and tell friends. Many more dishes to sample. Not too far from Bath centre and big carpark beside Hilton Hotel. 5mins walk. Well done to the genius chefs here as well as the very nice serving staff Good wines too

Brilliant authentic Thai food, friendly staff.

We visited Thai Basil this Monday for dinner, I can confidently say Thai Basil serves the most authentic Thai dishes I've ever had in the UK! If you're familiar with Thai food, by simply looking at the menu, you'll know right away how authentically and seriously Thai Basil takes about their food. For most Thai restaurants (even those in Asia), the only soup they could possibly serve is Tom Yam Goong, but at Thai Basil, there're as many as five soups you can choose from. We picked Tom Kha Gai, just one sip, the soup brought me back to Ching Mai - the scent of coconut milk and the sourness lime leaves simply complemented one another and brought the Thai-ness of the soup. We don't usually have rice for dinner as we're very mindful about how much carbs we take in and how much time we allow to burn it out. But we decided to let it all out with the Gang Phed (red curry with chicken) as it would be a disrespect to the delicious curry if we didn't have it with rice, and we ended up having two big bowls of Jasmine rice. It's all worth you additional hours at the gym! The green papaya salad was amazing! With all the imported ingredients, you know they don't compromise their authenticity for convenience. We were totally satisfied and didn't have room for dessert, but we couldn't resist to get the mango sticky rice as a takeaway - without a doubt, it was just 100% Thai. The decoration of the restaurant made you feel as if you were really in Thailand. I can feel how much heart they have put to this. I highly recommend this to anyone who craves for authentic delicious Thai food. I didn't try all the Thai restaurants in Bath, but I can confidently say Bath will be a paradise if there's any Thai restaurant that make Thai food even better than Thai Basil.

The food didn’t taste that great. really soggy veg and tofu. When we told the waitress she really didn’t seem to care.

I never usually write reviews but oh my god, I just had the best Pad Siew of my LIFE here. Very generous portion, prawns cooked to perfection (I subbed them in instead of chicken) and every mouthful was packed with flavour. 10/10 recommend Thai Basil Restaurant 👏

I have been eating here for 15 years. Regular take aways since lockdown. It has been a cornerstone of Thai food in Bath for all that time. But what arrived tonight was totally different food to what we have enjoyed for so long. Tasteless sauces from a jar, worse than a Chinese takeaway attempt at Thai food. An INSULT to Thai people and their cuisine. Seriously, what has happened?? We ordered all the dishes that we have been ordering for years and it was inedible. Sickly, nasty, bad meat, horrible "packet" sauces nothing but the veg was fresh. M&S do a better imitation in their ready meals. I am so sad and so sorry for that staff that clearly have gone; the chefs that used to share their cuisine with us left or ordered to produce this rubbish. Who killed this restaurant I don't know. But we are losing our amazing places and I beg of you (if you have eaten here like we have and are now sadly disappointed) to make restaurant owners aware that if they make good food there are customers out there will support you our independence from chain ownership for decades. If you con us with garbage food we will go. Please bring back real Thai food; there's only Thai Balcony left and room for more.

Quite a nice Thai restaurant, well decorated and has the traditional Thai theme. Menu is quite large, plenty of vegetarian options. Also includes some more unusual Thai soup dishes.

This place is incredible. The food is so authentic and really delicious. It's very obvious that it's all homemade with care and love. The menu is great, vary varied with so many options to choose from. We had a set menu so we could try lots of things and every single morsel was delightful. And to top it all off the service was perfect. We highly recommend this place. It's hands down the best Thai I have ever had. (Sorry no photo as we were too busy enjoying the food)

Came here for a quick lunch and definitely coming back again for dinner. They have a set menu which really was fantastic. There is a wide selection of starters and mains and it was all really authentic. Portions are very generous and it was cooked to perfection by chef Jon Boy and served with a smile by server Mi. Furniture and decor is original Thai and they have created a real family atmosphere here.

This place used to be so good. I used to prefer their delivery to most Thai restaurants. This time...a dish that costs more than £12 had only three prawns and they were overcooked. They tried to conceal this by leaving the legs on to make them look bigger. There was far less veg too. I received two orders of one item and the other was missing. The order on the whole was warm, but definitely not hot. Sad to see it go downhill.

I think this might be one of the best restaurants in bath. If you include the price to quality ratio, nothing comes close, if they doubled their prices, I’d still give it 5 stars. The curries are amazing, as are their duck dishes. The service quality is also great, feels very genuine.

Came here for Valentine's Day meal as the highlight of our stay in Bath. The food was superb. Had a set menu and every dish was excellent. The decor is so beautiful. The staff are friendly and attentive and even shared some of their secrets about Thai cooking!

An absolute hidden gem. Came to Bath as a weekend away for the family and wandered around looking for something a bit different. Came across the Thai basil and it doesn't look much from the outside - especially after trudging through the drizzle on a Friday evening in January. However we were absolutely blown away - friendly, helpful staff, a pleasant atmosphere and excellent food - tasty, generous quantities and a nice variety in the set menu. Would definitely recommend.

Decided to eat out after a shopping trip so as not to get caught in rush hour traffic...so we ate early and were the only ones in the restaurant. Service was excellent and so was the food. Beef, chicken, prawns and squid were all beautifully cooked and tender. The first time we've eaten here despite being in and around Bath for numerous years. Will definitely return...maybe in conjunction with a Bath Rugby home game

Firstly what an amazing restaurant! I love thai food and this place does not disappoint, the food was absolutely delicious!! Generous portion sizes and fresh ingredients. Also plenty of options for vegetarians. Lovely restaurant decor, nice, cosy and authentic feeling, staff were fab too. Will definitely be returning when next in the area.
