The Tesco cafe in the Whitehaven branch isn't a bad place to eat if you're out shopping or waiting for a train at the station next door. Compared with Morrisons, which is always packed and the tables too close together, the Tesco cafe is more spacious, less rushed and has a selection of papers to read while you're waiting. The quality of the meals are better as well: I had a chicken burger and chips for £ 7.25 that was decent enough and the chips were of the chunky rather than French fries variety that I prefer and the burger was of a good standard. Also worth considering is the full English breakfast for £ 8.50 that another customer bought and had everything you'd expect.

I was in Tesco, Whitehaven, collecting food for the local foodbank. I decided to get something to eat from the cafe and picked an all day breakfast; 1 sausage, 1 bacon, 2hash browns, baked beans and toast. I ate the sausage, fried egg and 1 hash brown. The food was limp and unattractive and cold. Will not have anything more to eat here.

Came in for a takeaway 7/02/25. Ordered a chicken tikka madras, pilau rice and a garlic naan which came to and eye watering price of £17.35 and I didn’t get any free popodons or chutney! .. The curry was un edible it was like someone had just mixed in chilli powder with it! Awful!! Avoid this restaurant!!
