Really lovely atmosphere. Nice and relaxed, decor makes you feel like you're in an upscale £200 a starter restaurant. Staff are very sweet and polite, happy to check for things and accommodate where possible. Food. Well. Divine doesn't cut it. BEST burger I have had in a very long time, first beef burger I've been able to stomach in even longer! The risotto was amazing! Cooked to perfection but not gloopy or runny. A real go to for good quality food that doesn't break the bank

Serice as pleasent with friendly attentive professional staff. Starter was divine, with a range of flavours. Main. Presentation was good, too much salt used with the turkey and the veg was basically uncooked it was that hard. However i would go again and suggest it.

We attended a small function with set menu. The drinks at the bar were very expensive - over £12 for two glasses of wine, and over £3 each one for soft drinks! The meat eaters got a good big piece of meat with their main course, but the vegetarians were short-changed with only a starter-sized portion of risotto as a main course and it didn't even have much taste. Starter and dessert nicely presented. Bar staff had a poor attitude and gave the impression they couldn't be bothered and looked down on the customers. Very long wait between courses and very behind schedule to get started. We wouldn't choose to go to Teras for a meal ourselves after this experience.

Teras produces nice food, no-one can argue with that. There’s also a great selection ‘light bites’ in case you aren’t in the mood for something too heavy. On the occasion we had lunch, it was busy and the acoustics made it difficult to hear - it felt more like a canteen. Good for a quite coffee in the morning though!

On Thursday and Friday it is now possible to have your breakfast, dinner and tea at Teras. We visited last Thursday for an evening meal and both of us had the delicious smoked haddock fish cakes for a starter along with the pea and mint tortellini and the Teras squash and chickpea burger. The food is always delicious and generous so really we shouldn't have opted for desserts, but couldn't resist, the Trio of Chocolate and Apricot and Orange Pudding beckoned. The service is always spot on. I've always found the staff to be knowledgeable, courteous and helpful, they really are an asset. I would just check the closing times beforehand because the restaurant isn't open late.

Visited here for a meal after graduation with family and friends and cannot fault it. The starters, mains and desserts were all perfect with there being an excellent variety of dishes for vegans and people with food allergies. Whilst the restaurant is situated in Bangor University main building it is open to the public and I'm so glad we decided to have my birthday tea there. For just £8.95 per person, afternoon tea is served in a comfortable collegiate setting and consists of fresh coffee or a pot of tea, a choice of sandwiches, scone with clotted cream and home made jam, salted caramel macaroons, bara brith, a salmon and spinach tartlet and cheese and leek muffin. It was all home made and delicious. The service was prompt and friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing and classy at the same time. What a find! I went here with my Wife after a long day at the University. It was quiet during reading week. I ordered a smoked salmon omelet and my wife asked for the signature burger and both came with wedges, sweet potato chips and salad. The omelet was excellent, hot and tasty, the sweet potato chips were a delight also. My wife cleared her plate, we took our time, the service was efficient and polite but not rushed. I asked for a treat I haven't seen anywhere else. It's sweet and a little indulgent but the Creme Brulle Latte Coffee is to die for. They are really making an effort here to present food attractively with fresh ingredients which also tastes really good. Simple menu (which is the trend in good restaurants) and a good selection of well priced wines. (A very good local beer as well). The setting is the old common room in the (grand) University building overlooking the town. There is a terrace which must be really nice place to eat on hot summer evenings. Staff were very friendly and helpful. All an excellent place to eat if you are in Bangor in a relaxed and attractive setting.A word of caution. If you are not local (we were not) it is hard to find and parking close by is very limited. There are four/five car places next to building otherwise it is a taxi or hike up the hill.

Situated in Bangor University this restaurant is a hidden gem. I went for afternoon tea with my grandson who is an undergraduate at Bangor, the sandwiches were fresh and tasty, the scone and cream was okay but not clotted cream and the chocolate brownie was very tasty. Overall a modest sized but good quality afternoon tea, not too much so that it affects your appetite for dinner. The teas were absolutely fabulous, good choice, excellent quality and a little theatre with the egg timers provided to ensure they brew for the right time. Prices very reasonable for the settI got and quality. Staff young, friendly and helpful, setting calm and relaxed. We use Teras whenever we visit and will continue to do so.

We arrived at 1pm and after 10 minutes of waiting we had to prompt someone to bring us a menu (most restaurants tend to address new customers within at least the first 5 minutes, there were two girls behind the bar doing very little and they still didn't take the initiative!)The young man who took our order of 2 burgers and 2 scones (not too much to remember), never brought the scones after our burgers, we waited a good half an hour after our meals before just deciding to just pay up.We mentioned at the till that they had been forgotten and he just said “my bad”, hardly an appropriate response. A simple sorry would have been decent enough, just common manners! As a restaurant that is clearly trying to position itself as a cut-above just a canteen lunch then they really need to address their levels of service, the food is great but the experience was a let-down because of the staff.

Seven of us walked straight in without booking on a graduation day!? Perhaps its because it is hidden around the back of the building and did not appear to be signposted. Teras is within the lovely Victorian main arts building that also contains the graduation hall. It has an Art Deco ambiance and rightly deserves its "hidden gem" tag. From the moment we entered the service was 1st class, and as for the food, well it was in danger of over shadowing the occasion! We all ate different items off the special Graduation Menu and each of us were blown away by the quality, taste and cobination. I have eaten at some high end restaurants and I can honestly say this is on par with most and better than some.

We visited the University on the open day and were very dissapointed with the catering until someone mentioned this little gem, we were seated immediately right underneath three Kyffig Williams paintings, the restaurant is on a terrace as the name suggests, overlooking the beautiful town. we were talked through the menu by a knowledgeable waitress, we chose confidently. The teas arrived in all their splendour with timers to measure brewing !! novel but fun.. The food arrived soon after and was a real treat, I had an omlette accompanied by sweet potato chips and a salad, it was delicious. my friend ate an all day breakfast at three o'clock, again this was quite a different take on your full welsh, I saw carrot on the plate, but it suited the dish. We paid £16 for our lunches, I would have been happy to pay that just to sit on the terrace in front of the paintings of such a great artist. Visited here today with my husband for lunch before heading over to Penrhyn Castle. Beautiful building, parking was an issue and finding the restaurant was difficult. Poorly signed. Arrived and we were unsure whether to help ourselves to a table or wait....we decided to grab a table and waited, waited and eventually we were acknowledged and our food/drink order was taken. I ordered the Roasted Red Pepper and Goats Cheese Risotto and my husband ordered the Free Range Egg Omelette. I was really looking forward to my lunch, I'm going through a phase of loving Risotto atm! My Risotto arrived and at first I thought the waiter had brought over the wrong order....but no here it was a soppy like rice pudding which lacked severely of seasoning! It was swimming in bland cream and after a few mouth fulls I had to stop. It was not nice at all! I was very disappointed, I had read so many great reviews of this place too. My husband had the egg omelette and like he said it is what it is except again lacking in seasoning. We left a lot sooner than we anticipated and went over to the bar area to pay for our meal. Luckily the lady didn't ask how our meals was because I was ready to give my feedback tbh but my husband was begging me not too!! At £16 odd, all was not lost but I don't think I'd hurry back. If I did I'd most definitely pick something else. Shame :-(

It's not the easiest place to find, but persevere as you won't be disappointed. We have found it easiest to park in the multi storey car park next to Aldi and walk across the road and up the steps in the university grounds to the top, through the first gate and into the university. Just be aware there is no sign for Teras at that entrance, but continue down the corridor a short way and you will find it. The meals are excellent, beautifully presented and very well priced. If you want a pleasant, relaxing coffe or a sensational meal then this restaurant a place to seek and discover! Burried under in the basement of the historic university buildings of the Top College Mains Arts buildings, the Teras is not easy to find, but there are signs from the main reception, and there is often parking close to the lower entrance from the hairpin bend on Glanrafon Hill.Don't be put off by the institutional green tiled corridor, the restaurant is beautifully presented, and the service is as good as any top class London Hotel. But the prices are very reasonable, this is a not-for-profit service aimed at the University staff, but it is in fact open to the public. The morning coffee is wonderful. All the food is home made. People love the cakes, but I have to say that the less popular tarts are out of this world in terms of texture and flavour. I understand that the same level of service and menu is also available at Reichel College, but this is some distance from Bangor city centre.Other excellent places to eat in Bangor are Taverna Greek and Blue Sky cafe.

Ate at the Teras as part of an organised Christmas event. The food was beautifully plated and each course was served with great attention to detail. I'll be honest, I usually go for the meals where the emphasis is on quantity and flavour and this was a departure for me. I left the restaurant without that 'over full' feeling having thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the evening. Parking may be an issue for some people and this may need clearer arrangement with the restaurant.

Visiting with my wife and 2 business clients on a Friday lunchtime .Superb food , had 3 courses washed down with some very nice Welsh bottled beer.I can't believe that this was within a University as it would have fitted in very well in any high st .Well done

We were visiting Bangor university for 2 nights and this was ideal for dinner (not that there was much choice at all). We had a pleasant meal but it was rather too quiet but the staff were very friendly and the food good.

The food was good but we went late to breakfast so they were out of most things. It will teach to arrive early so we can have a selection of items to choose from. Staff was very sweet and did a nice job . Go early

Such a find! So refreshing to find a decent restaurant in Bangor. For a small menu there is something for everyone! My particular favourite is the Pea and Haddock Rissoto. The staff are very attentive and are trained to make amazing coffees, the new Creme Brule Latte is a must try! Although don't try if you don't like sweet things because it is exceedingly sweet. Excellent Value, as I think the University subsidises it or doesn't make profit. I have since seen that outdoor seating is now available which overlooks the whole of bangor. Only downside is that it isn't open evenings due to lack of interest.

We had a party in the Teras lounge, both the service from the staff and the food were absolutely fantastic. If you are thinking of going for a meal or organizing an event this is the place for you!!! Truly fantastic, a hidden gem!

Lovely place with a limited menu but enough choice to satisfy. No parking, nothing for disabled. Food nice and fresh.

We had such a fab visit here last Friday. We had lunch which was absolutely delicious...and lovely coffee too. Highly recommend this family run cafe. (really friendly family who make you feel 100% welcome). Beautiful setting, beautiful building, beautiful food. Thank you
