Tenbury Fish Bar in Malvern Hills

We called in one early evening for fish and chips whilst on holiday near Tenbury Wells. The fish was tasty and juicy and there were plenty of chips. Good price, too. We have already booked another holiday for next year so will probably call in here again.

Well what can I say, after using tenbury fish bar for years and being most upset when it unexplainably closed I was really excited to see my favourite chippy in the county reopen, short lived excitement, I phoned through my order and asked if the chip portion sizes had changed, I was told they were slightly smaller, that's fine as the portions were massive, I ordered a large and a small portion, I couldn't tell which was which and not enough to feed a family of 4, I also ordered a tray of donner meet with salad and mayo, the donner meet was sliced so thinly it was like eating the paper bark of a silver birch tree, the salad was equally grim being unpleasant to chew, the lettuce or what ever it was was sharp and way to chewy, meal ruined and a waste of the best part of £20 (2x battered sausage and fish cake aswell) Please please go back to how it was before it was a winning formula, a very disgruntled customer who's found himself in a no kebab unless i want to travel 25 miles to get one situation

Cooked really well,good service. Big choice. Staff , helpful ,friendly. Tasted really good. Small eating area inside.

People seem to think that it is expensive but I had a large Cod with heaps of chip all of which I thoroughly enjoyed. The bills was around £8 which I considered quite reasonable

A traditional fish and chip shop. The portions are large and the quality of the food is excellent (especially the chips) and cooked in a very traditional style. The staff were efficient and polite. My only issue is the prices which are expensive (the smallest chip portion is £2.40). I will certainly visit again but I would do so more frequently if the prices were lower.

Super chunky chips and delicious fresh fish. Served with a welcome. What more could you want? Been 4 times and always had beautiful fish and chips.

Used to be good, stopped using after last flood in town when they opened the shop only three days after the flood water receded (how can you sterilise without a refurb). Anyhow, went to buy two large portions of chips and it was over £8. Also, it wouldn't be so bad if you got a decent portion of chips. You used to get 4 trays worth of chips, you now get 2 trays and a couple of scoops. So not only have the prices almost double in 8 years, you now get half the amount of chips. Wont bother again.

My humans went in to buy me a sausage ! It was the most expensive chippie they had ever bought. £4.30 for small portion of chips ( £2.40 !!! ) and sausage ..... not even a battered one ! AND the chips were naff scraps that had a bleachy taste ? and cash only - no staff gloves or masks in covid times - really ?

Shockingly overpriced!! Cheaper to go to a restaurant. Will not be visiting again to be ripped off. Nothing special either!!

I've used this chippy for about 4 years now. Always lovely with no complaints and always recommendedit to my friends. We love the tenbury special and find it really good value for money. Of late however its really changed. Food has become overpriced for what it is and the same order (fish, chips, 2 pies and a curry sauce) from another local chippy is nearly £4 cheaper. I've been saying for the last few trips that we should stop using due the 80p difference in the pies alone. So tonight I changed our usual order. My husbands mixed meat kebab was a meal for the bin. The chicken meat was completely burnt and crunchy! My mini fish was not much bigger than a fish finger and cost only 80p less than a whole cod at the other local. Not so long ago if the mini fish was too small you would get two pieces. Feel really let down from used to be a fab place for takeaway food!

The worst meal we have had from you guys,the kebab was burnt, and the wife's fish and chips ,there was more fish in a fish finger,will not use again.

Though we would give this a try due to being local. Still poor quality food, soggy tasteless chips and fish tasted like it had been cooked days ago. Back to travelling out of the area in future I'm afraid, a decent fish & chip shop in Tenbury would be very successful

Lovely fish, chips always come sharp and hard. Bit overpriced for what it is and for the lack of quality. Also find the counter staff quite loud and clearly open to having personal conversations while customers inside waiting to be served. Always want more than just fish and chips. Never seems to be much of a variety to chose from.

Have visited this chip shop on numerous occasions. Never once have we been disappointed. Ask for a medium bag of chips, the server puts what I would call a medium bag of chips onto the serving paper. Then. . . Scoops more & more chips...

This fish and chip shop brings a new meaning to large portion of chips. The food was well cooked excellent value for money, staff were busy but helpfull and friendly. They have some indoor seating but mainly do take away food.

... because there was a long queue which would indicate a popular place (yes I was tempted to use a pun)! The Tenbury Special is excellent price but unfortunately not excellent value. For £5.50 you get a decent portion of chips, small fish which is larger than most other chip shops I have used, a small sausage and a pot of beans, peas, gravy or curry. Enough for two people. Here's the downside. The chips were not quite the worst I have had but the fish definitely was. Very dry and tasteless. The curry was tasty. So I hope it was an off day but beware - if the fish is in the hot cabinet it may not be freshly cooked.

Unexpectedly stopped in Pretty Tenbury and bought fish and chips from this town centre fish bar. The fish had fantastic flavour and the batter was light and crispy with no hint of the fat being old or too hot. Portions were generous and the chips were chunky and cooked thoroughly. Friendly service and Tropical Rio to wash it down too.

Visited with my friend and little boy. We had a variety of food and sat in to eat. The food was great and the staff very friendly! I have and will visit again :)

Friendly service, sat in to eat, reasonably clean seating area and the fish was great, chips and curry sauce fantastic but let down by the savannas, bit dry as they had been left under a heat lamp too long.

Came here for my evening dinner, as I was late home from work! Absolutely just what I needed after a long day at work! The staff there were so friendly & the staff & food made my day a LOT better! Highly Recommend! 5****

Popped in to give it a go as it's local. Chips were soggy and tasteless and the fish was small and dry. This could be a great chippy and do well as the best one nearest is in Leominster. Won't be going again

Had some chips and fish cake. Chips were hot and crispy when called at 8.15pm although I prefer them a littler crispier. Fishcake was hot and tasted good.

As a full time caterer, I regularly use this shop when I just want a night off from cooking. Staff are always friendly, food is always good quality and freshly cooked and portion size is more than enough. I understand previous comments about size of fish, but remember, thankfully traditional shops like this do not use "portion controlled" fish. Sometimes its a big un, sometimes not. Irrespective of what you get it is and remains very good value.

We moved to Tenbury 8 months ago and were very impressed by this chip shop. Portions were large and the fish was thick, white and very tasty.

Great food always freshly cooked, staff always friendly . I visit every week, As my parents had chip shops over 30 years , I rate it very high Well all keep it up Steve

We are newish to the area and to have a propper chippy only a few miles away is great, however on both of our visits we have been disappointed. The first time the chips were awful, so we gave them a second chance this time the chips were much better but not great and the fish was dry and tasteless with rock hard greasy batter. Both visits were Fridays so we'll give it one final try on a weekday, however I don't hold out much hope.

What can you say about a real Fish and Chip shop that does first rate Fish and outstanding chips. Prices are great and portions are generous!

It's a pity really but the batter on their fish is always horrible. Chips are fine but everytime fish is ruined but dry hard batter. Wish they would change the recipe or cook in a different way.

Great traditional chippy, and you can't beat a Tenbury special! Always good service and hearty portions.

We waited 35minutes(!) to get served because after queuing for 15 we were then told they needed to cook the fish.... one of the staff members was rude and upon paying checked our money as if to make a statement. He didn't apologise or even say sorry. Not going back there so here's 1 star. 1 star for eventually serving food

We use tenbury fish bar regularly. They have a great selection at reasonable price. Mini fish is a massive portion and very well priced always loads of chips. Chicken kebab also good. All cooked fresh

Tasty, well-cooked fish, delicious chips and BIG portions. Good old British fish and chips. Lovely! The staff are friendly and helpful.

Always get plenty of chips and meat which you go here. The only problem is, unless you're quick, the chicken meat always sells out really quickly.

As am allergic to chips I went in to have a little snack on mix meat so ask if I could have a small box of meat they said they only do a small box with chips or a large box of meat enough to feed a small family I explained about the chips and said I just want a snack of meat they said no they couldn't do this so to my disbelief I had to walk out wots the matter don't you want my money bizarre way to run a Business may be you should care a bit more to the needs of your customers won't be back but the other chip shop no problems sir here you go

Encouraged by 3 positive reviews, we visited this Fish Bar expecting good things. The only positive is that the chips were freshly cooked and crispy. The 3 pieces of cod we ordered were all grey and stale, and tasted really 'off'. My son had a sausage (despite my best efforts, he won't eat fish!) and it was the cheapest, nastiest bright pink mush I have ever seen from a chip shop.

Fab food and great value! We would definitely recommend this Fish n Chip shop. Good honest good and generous portions.

Visited the chippy two nights out of four food was good and plentiful. Staff very friendly, would highly recommend the Tenbury mega special its a must.
