Tattu in Manchester

Incredibly disappointed with our experience at Tattu. We arrived on time but was told the table wasn’t ready and to just stand at the bar whilst we wait, followed by very rushed service once we were at the table. The food was very average and certainly not worth the price tag, we sent the desert back as it had no flavour at all. To be fair to the waitress she did apologise and we got cocktails instead, but when the bill is almost £300 for two people I do not expect to be sending food back! Just as cocktails arrived we were told they needed the table so could we move downstairs, despite us getting the table at least 10 mins late. Compared to 10 years ago when I came here the first time it has really gone down hill and succumbed to the Manchester curse of appealing to tacky influencers

Had a weekend away and booked the table in advance. The cocktails were great downstairs. The waitress (Diana) was absolutely amazing. Helping us order the courses and her attention was perfect. Lovely conversation without being too over bearing. Loved the experience and will return because of this type of service. Chris and Lorna.

Visited for lunch recently and we tried the Mushroom and Truffle spring rolls as well as the fried pork dumplings for starter which were incredible. We then both had the Wok Fired Angry Bird for our main course, the chicken was great but sadly the Jasmine Rice it was served with was not sticky as described but more over-cooked with large parts of it clumping together in a hard ball rather than fluffy rice. When we raised this they were really apologetic and replaced our rice with our choice, we went for the vegetable fried rice and duck fried rice which were both amazing. Annoyingly both of these replacement portions of rice were on our bill when we were given it which we then had to raise to be removed, service was quite slow (I imagine as it was lunch time and not super busy) so this took about 15 mins. Overall though food is great and service in general is good.

Terrible experience at Tattu. Refused to give us the January discount offer at first and charged us an extra £120 for items we didn’t order! We went to the restaurant to celebrate a birthday and purposely chose a weekday to get the 30% off good deal, as advertised on their Instagram and website. We booked through the website but when we received the bill it was without the discount. They said we had to specify we wanted to dine with the discount on the booking form? But we argued this as we specifically called to confirm this offer before our arrival, to which a staff member from Tattu confirmed we would be eligible for this offer. They reluctantly reduced the bill. However we then noticed they charged us an additional £120 too from bottles of wine we did not order. They reluctantly refunded us this amount, and acted like it was our fault. Not apologetic for their mistake at all. Would definitely not reccomend dining here again.

Certainly a great experience. Really enjoyed the food and the sharing format it was served. Definitely recommend the black cod (it is expensive but worth it)

Vibes are 10/10, definitely a wow from start to finish. Love the selection of drinks even the non-alcoholic options. We got the emperor's set, the dimsum was an interesting twist and the baked duck was insanely delicious. There were familiar taste from home. Overall, some nice pieces in the set but the combo of the green beans, yummy wagyu steak on rock salt and the noodles were progressively salty (we didn't finish it for this reason). The whole steam fish presentation was very unimpressive compared to the rest. They need to work on their vege options. Mostly nice staff but our waitress was quite impatient and gave us attitude when we didn't know how the menu work (u need a minimum of 2 people per set (same set)). She did give us a firework and fortune cookie since it was our anniversary. Overall, definitely worth the vibe (not unbearably noisy as well), great drinks, decent food and mostly friendly staff. Just don't get the teas (doesn't come in a pot with sharing cups and tasted like warm water)

Food Luke warm. Music pumping . Tables to closed together ,requested nice table as it was a surprise meal for my husbands birthday……..No effort made at all for this occasion. Never been before and to be honest we have had better experiences for less money

This place really isn't as good as all the reviews I've seen online. I was looking forward to this place for sooo long and when I finally went I was just disappointed. We went there and our table was around 30 minutes late, not sure what the point of booking is if they are going to be this late. Once upstairs, the tables were so close together it basically felt as if we were sat with the people around us. The food looks good but doesn't taste that good unfortunately. For the price you pay to eat here I genuinely expected the food to be amazing, but it was very mid. Our waitress was really nice. Overall, for the price, I would not recommend the food unless visiting on the set menu days. There are a lot nicer places in Manchester for a quarter of the price worth visiting.

Visited for lunch today as it's my Birthday and myself and my Wife's 17th Wedding Anniversary. The place is beautifully decorated and the aesthetics are incredible. The drinks, particularly the cocktails and mocktails, are to DIE for - SO gorgeous, and the staff are the most attentive and helpful I've ever had in a restaurant; they literally couldn't do more to keep us happy. Now, onto the food, it was all perfect. The pan seared tuna, the rare steak, the chicken and rice, perfection. I've never had Chinese food this good before, and probably won't again... until I revisit this place! Thanks everyone, particularly Lina (spelling?).

Interesting decor on the walls, my girlfriend was a fan. They said they gave us slow service and apologised for the wait but I didn’t even feel like I waited that long, and then they gave us prosecco as an apology. The food was what you’d expect, ridiculously good, looked amazing, very cool and imaginative, and definitely an experience.

Always excellent food, excellent service and ambience! Definitely recommend although rather pricey!

I enjoyed a lovely birthday meal with my partner. The food tasted delicious ! I have a nut allergy and the waiter was very attentive to my needs. The ambience and atmosphere was perfect. My only issue was when we finished our meal, I was sat for 15 minutes with empty plates and had to ask the waiter to remove them. I have worked in hospitality and one of the golden rules of good customer service, is to not leave diners with empty plates for longer than necessary! Other than that I cannot fault my overall dining experience ☺️

Food was very nice but expensive. Certain things were very salty. Don't like the way they add 12.5% service charge. I would rather leave a tip of my choosing.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Manchester and were recommended Tattu and we both felt it was quite under whelming. Yes, the decor and atmosphere were inviting/trendy but the food was (at best) just ok (especially when considering the higher price point). The service was average too. We had to ask for menus as we had been forgotten about after sitting down and the order of dishes was odd; the main course of beef was brought out first with the fish dumplings and the Pork starter was brought out last. Lastly, my boyfriend ordered a vodka soda and when we were brought the bill we realised he had been sneakily served a more expensive vodka (4th down in the list) which ended up being £18.50 - pretty underhand as practices go. Not sure what all the hype is, we are not returning.

Edwin was great! He gave an excellent description of the menu and his food recommendations. Atmosphere was fab!

Always a great experience dining at Tattu. Took our boys today as they love it too. We were served by Edwin who was really lovely, professional and knowledgable. Cant wait to come back

Service was excellent from arrival to us leaving. Food choice is wide, wine list is just as good, food was exceptional and our server was brilliant.

Simply out of this world, the food drinks and service was excellent. Wild mushroom spring rolls were so delicious, we then had caramel steak, wagyu beef, duck rice, spicy noodles, jasmine rice and broccoli. All of these dishes were outstanding, wagyu beef my husband was really looking forward to and was not disappointed. Desert was sticky toffee and pear pudding and again the wow factor and I enjoyed every bit of it. The presentation was excellent, it was like having dinner theatre, every dish looked the part and were really amazing. Drinks again wow factor cocktails, delivered and presented to us which really added the special feel to this restaurant. We were looked after by Julia and she even brought us a little Sake to try complementary as we were celebrating with them. Thank you for an excellent visit and we would highly recommend.

We have eaten many times at Tattu and it is always amazing the food is so full of flavour and the drinks are some of the best cocktails I've had, the staff are also first class.

My wife and I have just had the most incredible meal at Tattu. First time out without our 18 month old in a long time. We were met at the door by a friendly hostess who checked us in and took us to our table, giving recommendations for cocktails on the way. Our server, Edwin was brilliant the entire evening. He was very knowledgeable about the wine in particular, and even mentioned that he had worked in the same wine region and the same vineyard in New Zealand as my twin brother! We had the Signature menu which was incredible but added the lobster and prawn toast which was phenomenal! This place is well worth it for a date night.

The restaurant is very pretty and the staff very welcoming. However, half of the menu was not available, the prices are expensive for the quality! Also the wait for the table despite the reservation can be long!

Cool restaurant with good service and atmosphere. The starters were truly amazing (best spring rolls and dumplings in my life), unfortunately the mains and dessert were extremely average. The mains maybe even below average, so I would definitely not go there for food again.

We came into tattu for a little tipple before dinner and was served by the charming Jordan, he had great cocktail recommendations and his knowledge of the bar menu was fabulous! As regular drinkers of tattu we will definitely be back, hoping we will see Jordan next time 😊

Fancied trying for a quick lunch. Good luck working out what time the lunch menu runs until. There's two different times on the website, a third on the open table listing. Even though the first menu you come across for Manchester advertises it until 6pm, when you click the link that says "Download the Manchester lunch menu here". You can only actually have the lunch menu until 5pm it turns out. Not great if you find out on the day and have already made plans or booked a table which will then charge you to cancel.

The price of the dish is 30-80 pounds for which you will never eat, the guys from street food cook better. Just water with flour and dough. The interior is beautiful but nothing more. And the staff is as hypocritical as possible🫨

Really enjoyed our visit to Tattu Manchester, we opted for the set menu, each course was delicious, service was top notch, will certainly be returning.

So disappointed with our experience the other evening. It was a saturday so delays are completely expected but it was my partners birthday and we had been meaning to visit for the longest time so we had high hopes. We watched tables come and go before we had even had any food arrive. The 2 other members of our party had their meals 1 hour and a half before us! We had to sit there watching them eat absolutely starving with no updates as to why they had their food and we hadn’t it was ‘kitchen delays’ but surely they would work through the same ticket before moving on to another after an HOUR AND A HALF! The waitress was lovely i felt really awful she had to deal with the complaints but it’s not what you expect for a ‘high end’ meal. They did comp some items but we didn’t care about that we just wanted to eat at the same time as everyone and her to have a nice birthday meal. In addition when we first arrived we just got told to stand at the bar - absolutely no space there at all and kept being in the way. 15 after our booking time i went to the host stand to see how long it would be and then we got taken over and the table was empty- if i hadn’t gone over i wonder how long we would have been waiting! A few members of our party work in high end restaurants and bars in Spinningfields so we never usually complain and completely understand delays but this was absolutely ridiculous. Especially because half the party had to leave to get the last train home and we didn’t get home till after 12 when we live a five min walk away- the booking was at 8:45! Note to self don’t have a birthday on a saturday as kitchen delays mean you have to watch your friends eat three courses when you haven’t even eaten one!

Edwin was our server tonight and he was fantastic!! His knowledge of the menu- both food and drink- was incredible, he gave us brilliant drink recommendations based on the spec. He was very polite and helpful, the food was amazing and the drinks were fantastic! Atmosphere was lovely and perfect for a special date. We visit every year and are never disappointed :)

Tattu in Manchester is an absolute gem! The restaurant is stunning, with its elegant decor creating a truly memorable ambiance. The service was spectacular, thanks to Edwin, our exceptional waiter. He walked us through the menu, provided spot-on recommendations, and explained every dish beautifully. Edwin went above and beyond, sharing local tips and recommending must-visit spots for our weekend in Manchester. His hospitality made our visit extra special, and he even showed his photography skills with my Polaroid camera! When you visit Tattu, be sure to ask for Edwin—he’s a true asset to the restaurant. Highly recommended!

Left before eating. Staff were rude, room was dark and far too loud. It was hot and humid which made the restaurant very stuffy and oppressive. Terrible atmosphere, food looked like heightened takeaway meals and staff were not accommodating at all.

Wonderful evening. Fantastic food. Great service We had the Dim sum sharer together with the pork belly. The lobster & prawn toast was incredible. We then shared the monkfish, noodles and broccoli. Everything was delicious and lryna was an amazing host.

We were here for my boyfriend’s birthday on Sunday evening and it was our first time dining at Tattu after hearing raving reviews and we were not disappointed! The food was beautiful and our server, Edwin, was so knowledgable, friendly and he couldn’t do enough for us! Thank you Edwin for making our night so lovely! We will definitely be back!!

Second visit to Tattoo, 4 of us were lucky enough to get a booth underneath the iconic blossom tree. Tattoo is located in Spiningfields, great location a short walk from Deansgate and lots of car parks nearby I love everything about this place, decor is dark and creates the feeling of intimacy at your table. The music is modern and creates the right vibe Tables are well spaced and we sat upstairs which is the best area. Food- well the photos speak for themselves- visually appealing and playful too, with fish dumplings shaped like fish and their signature garnishes of cute edible flowers just add to the visual appeal Four of us spent £200 as we ordered from the Taster menu that had 2 dishes for £29.90 We were all stuffed and ordered: Crackers and cocktails to start Starters: Dumplings Main: teriyaki salmon / chicken Desert: signature chocolate ganache We spent about 1 and a half hours and were served by the amazing Scott who made us feel really special After 10 years this restaurant is one of the better ones in Manchester as it’s great service, fun signature cocktails and tasty oriental food that looks good and tastes great. All you need is great company and your all set

The most AMAZING experience here for my mums 60th birthday. I have a gluten and dairy allergy and have been struggling to find restaurants that take it seriously. Augustas and Savannah made sure that my experience was PERFECT. All of my food suited my needs and I was confident all was being taken seriously. We didn’t want to leave

My first experience and I hated it, Overpriced food, playing head banging club music instead of classical relaxing piano music, staff keep encouraging you to order more food and spend more money, they judge on appearance so make sure you look like you got 2 million or they will swiftly look you up and down and intimidate you and ask the boss to see if your allowed in.. regardless of how much money you have and are willing to spend, I don't know why you would put wagyu on a himalayan salt to cook because after 2 minutes it's too salty and ruins the taste overall 1 star. I could of cooked a better meal at my home. I will never go back again. And there's no point me making this because they will never see it and never take my criticism and actually apply it.. They don't care about you. They care about taking your money and on top of that with the extra service charge of £20. This place is a joke. No wonder it was empty.

A Disappointing Change in Quality We’ve been visiting this restaurant annually for my wife’s birthday and have always looked forward to their excellent meals. Unfortunately, this year’s experience didn’t live up to our expectations. The recipes for some of our favorite dishes seemed to have changed, particularly the mixed dim sum platter, which we’ve always enjoyed. Sadly, the quality of the ingredients seemed lower, and everything—spring rolls, prawns, and scallops—was overcooked. The service was patchy this time. While some staff were friendly, one waiter was quite patronizing which soured the atmosphere. It’s a shame to see such a decline in both food quality and service, and we hope this was just an off night. However, it’s left us reconsidering whether to return next year.

If I'm being honest, I've had better Chinese takeaways. The restaurant is aesthetically lovely, beautiful design. It was clear a lot of people were there just for a photoshoot though. The music was overbearingly loud and felt more like club music than being in a restaurant. Myself and my friend were having to almost shout at eachother. Service was excellent, similar to that at the Ivy. However the food, was extremely lackluster. We got the £74 per person option on the menu. Very small sharing portions that genuinely just tasted like an ok Chinese takeaway meal. The flavours were good, it was presented nicely but not worth the cost at all. I never leave restaurants hungry, I only weigh 45kg, but I left hungry. The desert was not my cup of tea either, gooey marshmallow with a brownie base wrapped in white chocolate. It sounds nice but I found it a bit sickening paired with the rest of the food. It was also a really small desert, I thought they were bringing out a second one but it was just the one little thing between us. One thing that kinda irritated me was we were offered some prawn crackers before our food came out. Thought this was a complimentary thing given the meal price, they whacked on £11 to the bill for I swear to god, it must've been 5 prawn crackers each with a thimble of dip. They were homemade, and a bit too hard, probably the worst prawn crackers I've ever had if I'm being truly honest. I've had better prawn crackers from back alley Chinese restaurants that give you a massive bag of em for free. Honestly, it's a shame about the food because it's a beautiful restaurant. Maybe it was just the option we selected, but even still I wouldn't have paid more than £30 for it let alone £74 + drinks + appetizer which came to around £100 each total. If the food was better and they changed their music and turned it down, I'd probably give 5 star. It's got excellent service too, the food just wasn't the vibe.

My family and I arrived at Tattu Manchester and were greeted amazingly by the staff and manager, seated and attended to promptly. I don't remember our waiters name unfortunately but he was from Poland and he was an amazing waiter, funny and explained to us what the menu contained. The food was amazing. The portions could be bigger but all in all the service was fast was effective. We had a great time and the ambience was beautiful.

Service excellent, ambience very good, food very good HOWEVER do not go if you have allergies - absolutely no alternatives. We contacted restaurant by email in advance detailing everything and received a reply giving the impression that it wouldn’t be a problem and choices would be on offer. On arrival out of the WHOLE menu there was one choice - the more expensive one - lobster. On pushing for them to offer an alternative if possible was given “plain steamed rice, plain steamed broccoli, plain steamed sea bass”. No flavourings, no seasoning then charged a ridiculous amount for the ‘plain’ experience. Not an appropriate restaurant if any allergies with no flexibility - shame as the food for everyone else was very nice but it’s certainly not a cheap experience!

It was an awesome experience. Komal who attended to us, made the experience more enjoyable. She was courteous, friendly and very helpful. The food was good but would have loved more rice or vermicelli options as I believe not everyone eats duck like I do. If you're not having the duck option, then you're left with just the vegetable option which is not a vast choice.

Our table was booked for 8pm and wasn't ready when we arrived so we were asked to sit in the bar area and have a drink. Waited there for 40 minutes, no one took a drink order. Finally got to our table and ordered our meal, we choose 3 starters/small plates, 2 main dishes and 1 rice and 1 noodles. The food was bland and average at best, and incredibly expensive. The duck in particular was so underdone I could not eat it. Not worth it at all. Would not recommend and would definitely not go back. Just to add this was to celebrate my birthday, couldn't of been more disappointed.

The food was very disappointing. The beef short rib was 50% fat, rice was cold, the pork belly!!! Was inedible. This had to be spat into a napkin. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks. Very disappointed, a birthday celebration too.

My partner and I had a great time there. We had a nice dinner for my birthday and got the celestial dragon which was fun, and all the food was really good. Our server Aim was really helpful and friendly. I also got a cute fortune cookie treat at the end for my birthday. A lovely treat for the evening!

Today was my first time dining at tattu. Our waitress savannah was amazing and went above and beyond for us throughout the whole meal. The brunch was a fantastic deal and the cocktails were delicious. Will definitely be coming back!

Food poisoning! This is the first negative review ever I’ve left. Me and my friend dined at Tattu on 5/10, early evening. I’d recommended Tattu having gone earlier in the year and having enjoyed that first visit. The food this time was disappointing relative to my first visit. I ordered the three course vegetarian tasting menu (from which me and my friend shared the starters and dessert), and my friend ordered the Shanghai black cod for her main. We each had one cocktail with our meal. There was a 30 minute delay in serving dessert but we weren’t in a rush to leave, so didn’t mind. Our waitress was really lovely. After dining together me and my friend parted ways. However, just after midnight/ in the early hours of the morning I started to feel feverish and nauseous - and sure enough, I ended up vomiting multiple times throughout the early hours of the morning. The next day I messaged my friend to thank her for the catch up, and, before I even mentioned that I’d been sick, she told me that she’d been up during the night with a fever and awful stomach cramps. Tattu is the only establishment me and my friend dined at/ drank alcohol at that day. We also both ate the same foods and both fell ill. I notified Tattu of the situation. It’s deeply concerning that we’d both have gotten food poisoning from the food, especially vegetarian food. Tattu referred the matter to a third party company to undertake an investigation, which required me to complete a standard questionnaire as to food eaten in the days prior/on the day, and an overview of my symptoms etc. This investigation started weeks after the incident had happened despite me notifying Tattu immediately. Over a month later, I received an outcome letter which denied that the food at Tattu was the cause of the food poisoning on the basis they’d received no other complaints, the establishment has a good hygiene rating, that paperwork had been completed correctly, that the staff have training, amongst other points of questionable relevance, especially weeks after an incident has occurred. Me and my friend have absolutely no doubt that we fell ill due to the food we ate at Tattu - there is no other common cause we can point to having only met up for food that evening and having only eaten there that weekend.

First time visit and really enjoyed the experience. Special mention for Edwin our waiter who was very welcoming and helpful. Will definitely be back.

As part of our wedding anniversary stay in Manchester we visited Tattu. Wow what an amazing restaurant. The visuals and ambience were a step above what I was expecting. I don't normally like an overtly pretentious place to dine and it was the relaxed, friendly atmosphere that put me more at ease. We were seated upstairs with a quite an amazing tree as a centre piece on the floor. Edwin was our waiter for the evening, friendly and informative. He made us feel at ease and went through the menu with in-depth knowledge. We decided on the modern sharing menu. The food came in three waves. The flavours, textures and appearance were superb. Cooked to perfection. I won't go into the dishes separately as I know it down to individual tastes. After the food we decided to treat ourselves to one of their impressive cocktails. Again thoroughly impressed. This was a special occasion and the price tag was steep but I went in knowing what I was expecting to pay. If you have the budget I would thoroughly recommend giving Tattu a visit.

Amazing night, celebrated our 3 year anniversary here. All the service was brilliant, from the door to our waiter (Edwin). The menu was overwhelming with great dishes and with the right recommendations we had a night to remember. Thank you!

Absolutely delicious food and Edwin was very friendly, helpful and professional. The beef fillet was amazing and the seabass calypit was fantastic. We were celebrating our son’s 16th birthday and the firework and sorbet were a lovely touch. A beautiful restaurant with food to match

My server was Gian and he was spectacular! Took really good care of me and my 3 friends and made a point to recall the birthday celebrant and make her feel welcomed and special, he is lovely.

Fantastic place. Service was first class. Would highly recommend anyone going here if you’re looking for a modern Chinese experience and great food

We told the staff several times that we were in a rush. We ordered our food quickly and mentioned a few times that we would also need dessert and the bill promptly. The restaurant was half-empty, so the staff assured us it wouldn’t take long. When our main courses were served, we reminded them again about the desserts and the bill. While the bill was brought out within two minutes, the server had clearly forgotten about the desserts, judging by his surprised expression when he saw our frustrated faces. What was supposed to be a one-minute wait turned into ten, and we eventually had to leave without having dessert. The waiter saw us as we left but seemed more concerned about whether we had paid the bill omg Interior—wow, service—ugh

As the saying goes… “Out Out” for my wife’s birthday which we’ve been Tattu quite a few times in the past for drinks but thought we’d try the food out this time, There is such a feel good atmosphere great music, classy decor/vibe is willing you to enjoy your experience!!! We had multiple drinks (see pictures) all of which tasted unbelievable!!! We choose the Tattu signatures sharing platter… and can I just say the food tasted absolutely AMAZING!!! We had to wait a little on the main course and desert when we were asked if we would like a little time but we said could we have it straight away, but the staff are very attentive, Also give you advice on the best way to try the food!!! If you haven’t tried it… my advice is do it!! It’s a great experience from start to finish!!! Keep up the good work!!

Came here for my girlfriend’s birthday, our server Aim was great. He knew the menu inside out and gave great advice on the food and drinks. Couldn’t have asked more of him, thanks so much

Worst place you can ever be, food smells like puu I don’t recommend any of you to go here, staff is lazy as well

Great birthday lunch Julia was fantastic and the whole team were stars, the food was outstanding, the dimsum and the beef were outstanding. The dragon cocktail was outstanding and the tree ….was brilliant

We had a nice enough meal but thought the food was nothing out of this world. Service was attentive, but lacking in some respects. We had to stand around the bar area (no seating) for 20 minutes to wait to be seated for our reservation. It was so crowded we couldn’t even get a drink in this time. Credit where it is due, our waiter was exceptional and very attentive. He was the only good thing about our visit. They also started tidying and cleaning towards the end of our meal, which made us feel rushed. Worst of all, we were told we could use a voucher that had expired (we called and asked, to be told that the voucher would be accepted no problem) only to be told that we had to pay full price and ask for a refund later. We were then told that we couldn’t have a refund, leaving us quite unexpectedly out of pocket. Would not recommend, there are nicer places for far less, skip the instagram obsessed crowds and go somewhere less tacky.

Never given a place 5 stars so fast!! Food was incredible we had a few starters, wagu steak and wok fried angry bird chicken some of the best food we’ve ever had. Savannah was amazing very attentive throughout the night and made sure we knew the menu! We will definitely be back.

Had a lovely experience with GIAN, our waiter, who looked after us for the night and made our experience very enjoyable!

Food and drink were 10/10! Edwin went above and beyond to accommodate us! Highly recommend
