Superb food and service. You could not find better anywhere.

Great local restaurant, reliably tasty food in good quantities and very friendly staff. Been coming to eat in and take-away for many years, always enjoyable and always a cheery handshake from Anwar the manager. It'll be really missed if it goes!

Loved the food! Delicious! 7 of us went for Mother’s Day dinner. We each chose individual Chicken dishes with veggie sides. The poppadoms were so yummy 🤤 and 2 of us asked which dishes they recommend. The friendly staff were so accommodating and left no stone unturned! I was asked if I liked lentils as well as chicken and my preference spicy, medium, mild etc. I chose medium and my dish was custom made for me. It was so tasty! Wish we took more photos but we were enjoying ourselves so much! My dish is in the very left hand corner! We also had chicken korma, the larger dish shown above the korma dish (can’t remember the name it was a recommendation) sag aloo (potato and spinach) loved that it wasn’t swimming in sauce, chicken shashlik, chicken with chilli and garlic, 2 chicken tikkas and okra side. Not forgetting some naan breads! They were all wonderful and I was a little concerned if curry would upset me as my tummy has been sensitive. But I can honestly say I felt absolutely great (still do) and we all enjoyed the array of dishes with their unique and mouth watering flavours. Taste of Raj have a variety of authentic, traditional dishes, vegetarian included. Our drinks (water, coke) were topped up, and we had a little Bailey’s after some ice cream deserts. I highly recommend a visit and look forward to going back again!!! ♥️Parking is available outside and side streets if need be! Thank you all at Taste of Raj! 🤩

Could not have asked for more! We came for valentines and the service was out of this world, complimentary poppadoms, baileys and roses! Food was exceptional and evryone who served us went above and beyond! Service was really quick and the prices are unmatched! Will definitely be back and would recommend to everyone!

Honestly would give more than 5 stars if I could. Went for my brother's birthday meal and the staff were so welcoming and kind. The food was delicious - no complaints. Such a wide range of dishes. They brought out so many freebies for us and are lovely to chat to. Couldn't ask for a better environment.

Dreadful food, dreadful restaurant! carpets on the floor, smelly! But first about food: I have never tasted worse food, cannot even be called Indian cuisine, a disgrace! no taste, watery, chef must be an amateur, honestly the worst indian resto I ve been to! too expensive also , as serving bad food, 2 of us paid around £60-70! no alcohol with it , just 3 curries and naans. 1 meal was their vegetarian offer menu. i cant describe how horrible everything was. i can imagine most of reviews are fake as the restaurant is always empty, I pass by almost every day. But hey, wanted to try their food as the next door one was also a hit and miss and I lived close by. Never again, they dont know how to cook!! that s not indian food, it s bengali and I am yet to see good bengali restaurant. just been to another one today and seems they re not as good as indian restaurants, mental note. i realised halal meat is also not as juicy as non halal, so I ll avoid in the future, never realized that before. but in any case, taste of raj is just a bad restaurant and fullstop , halal or no halal, doesnt matter in their case!Just for the reference, been there in December 2023. AVOID!

DO NOT ORDER THROUGH THEIR OWN WEBSITE IF YOU WANT DELIVERY! I have just paid £42 for a meal to be delivered only to phone an hour and a half later to see where it is. The food is there ready for collection as they don’t deliver. This was not stated anywhere whilst making the order. They said the food has been ready for an hour. I said I didn’t want it in that case and can’t collect anyway. Could I have a refund - they refused and said they’d call the police if I came to the restaurant to make a fuss. Poor service, poor attitude, poor customer service and average food! AVOID!

Welcome return to the best Indian restaurant in the country, Anwar certainly likes to pile the plate high and the food is exceptional, cannot fault the place and still going strong after I first visited over 32 years ago. Would certainly recommend, in all the years I’ve been coming never had a bad meal here, nothing will ever compare to Taste of Raj - best ever. 10 stars plus x

The staff are super friendly, they look after their regulars and always give top service with fantastic food. This is understated quality, every dish has deep flavour and cooked to perfection. I go there every week to get my curry fix.

10/10. Ordered takeaway and went to collect. (Call for 10% off) greeted very warmly by the owner. Food was really nice. Got the Sag Aloo, Sag Ponir & chicken bhuna. Best takeaway I've had in a while. Will be ordering from here again

The hospitality here is wonderful. Lovely warm and generous waiters. Food is delightful and fresh. Big pints of soft drinks. Loved the paswari naan cooked perfectly. Really enjoyable dinner out. Forgot to take pictures at the beginning 🙃

After coming back to Palmers Green the food and service is excellent. We love all the food. The staff are the best and we are so pleased to recommend this place. They deserve the best 👌

First time we visit this restaurant and we were extremely happy! Cozy and clean local place with good background music, not overwhelming. Aaaand the food was absolutely amazing - the meat mains were super well prepared, not greasy as in other Indian restaurants, and the naan bread was fresh and delicious! We will definitely come back and bring family next time! Reasonable prices as well, highly recommend this place!

I ordered chicken tikka masala. The portion of chicken was a joke. Literally three cubes of chicken cut into smaller pieces. When I called in to complain Raj said there is minimum if 7 pieces and that's correct. I said the pieces are tiny. And it's quarter of a portion I used to get previous when ordered. At the end Raj was very rude. I can not imagine how can you be so rude to the customer who buys of you and give you business. Definitely last time I have ordered. Also this cost £17.

I had a takeaway yesterday and it was over seasoned and very disappointing. We regularly take out and eat in Indian food so this something I feel passionate about, also I chose this place based on reviews.

Delightful food, great service as always. Anwar is an amazing host and has been for the 20 years I've been going. Family friendly, they brought out some special chicken for our kids, not to mention as much cucumber and lemon as they could ever desire!

Ordered for collection. Came in a very sturdy bag which was a first for me when ordering takeaway! I ordered a Meat Dopiaza and Naan. The Naan was fluffy and warm and the Dopiaza was nice, good flavour although there was a chunk of onion that hadn’t been separated into layers in the middle. They gave complementary yoghurt, popadoms and salad however the salad was given in a bag which was a bit peculiar haha. Paid just under £11 so good price. Overall a pleasant experience!

Visited for the first time and had a really nice evening. The food was delicious, really good value and portions were generous too. The staff were absolutely lovely and gave us just the right level of attention and plenty of space to make our menu choices and finish our drinks after paying the bill.

First time I visited with friends on Thursday evening. Excellent service, large menu and very tasty food. Well cooked and looked very appetising. Friendly staff and a large selection of drinks both alcoholic and soft. I will certainly be going again!

Food was good and enjoyed by everyone in the group. Didn't like hand scribbled bill which was illegible causing doubt if we were being overcharged.

Great place, reasonably priced food and lovely staff

Went there on a Saturday evening and tried a range of dishes: lamb bhuna, chicken patia, aloo gobi, chips etc. Had a lovely meal and table service was good, very friendly staff. We were first given poppadoms with sauces etc, the staff kindly topped us up on empty sauces etc. Prices were ok, would recommend to people. It was also not too busy on a Saturday night. I enjoyed the meal.

Great food, prices and really friendly staff

I visited with friends as part of a large group for the first time this week. The staff were welcoming and attentive as we went in. The poppadoms and pickles were nice and my lamb rogan josh was extremely tasty and the meat tender with lots of fresh chillis which I enjoyed. The herbs on top made it taste really fresh. Rice and chapati were served in good size portions.We were given hot flannels and some oranges to finish . Will almost certainly visit again.

Amazing curries and very friendly

This restaurant is exceptional in every way. The food is always tasty, I have never eaten a bad meal here. The service is in a league of its own, I have never been to a restaurant where the staff go the extra 2 miles to make you comfortable and cater for your every need. I would score this 10 stars out of 5 if I could. I would strongly recommend anyone to come and enjoy a good meal here.

Great little Indian restaurant, I'm not often up in Palmer's Green, but when I am I try to ensure a trip here. I often go for the lamb tikka madras, nice rich sauce washed down with a cobra.

Whoever dines here I will advise you to check your bill and ask for a break down of it. Very dodgy people. Bill amounted to £38 and upon questioning the breakdown, the waiter replied it’s for our eyes only. After applying some pressure he brought the menu back out so we could calculate for ourselves and turns out the bill actually amounted to £28! The waiter proceeded to mention EXTRA charges such as the poppadoms and tried to pass off one slice of cucumber and one slice of tomato as added salad charges. This is how he tried to justify the extra £10 - note his math skills were really poor so he struggled. 50p per poppadom x 10 = £5.00 (we only had 3 of the COMPLIMENTARY poppadoms and £5.00 for one slice of cucumber and tomato). = £10. Upon further questioning and asking for the manager he went to get his number and then proceeded to inform us that the manager was away on holiday...and then realising he had been caught out politely returned the extra £10 they tried to steal from us. I HUMBLY REQUEST ANYONE WHO EATS HERE TO DOUBLE CHECK THEIR BILL AND ALWAYS ASK FOR A BREAKDOWN - VERY DODGY PLACE, however, the food was decent and he did wish us a good evening so it wasn’t all doom and gloom, hence the 1 star!

I’ll rate NO star, if possible. The food was so bad and it did not resemble any Indian food I am familiar with. Even the papadom did not taste like how it is supposed to be. Definitely will not come back.

Had not been for about 10 years but had good memories of food and service at Taste of Raj. First impressions on walking through door is that it had not changed at all. Same decor etc. But the other things that have stayed the same are more important. The friendly staff and service, the quality and value of food. There was no vegetable dansak on the menu but they were happy to make (and was excellent). A big thumbs up from me and will be back soon.

We visited taste of Raj for the first time and we had such a lovely experience. The food was plentiful,tasty and the service was brilliant. The manager could not do enough. The tandoori mix grill was exceptional. All my family loved everything.we will definitely go back. Thanks for a great Meal.

Lovely Manager and Friendly Staff, Great Customer Service, Terrific Food at reasonable prices. I had friends over from Australia six of us went here for a Meal our two Aussie Friends were bowled over by the whole experience. My Husband and I have been eating at the T.o.R for many years and not once have we been disappointed. The only reason I didn't give 5 Stars is because the decor could do with refreshing otherwise we will still eat here and recommend the T.o.R.👍🍽️🍷🍺

Whilst the decor is a bit like your nan's living room, the food is excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants fresh, hot and flavoursome food. The service was fab and the staff were friendly and professional. We didn't have a dessert but we were given a shot of Baileys and chocolates on the house. It's the small touches that make a difference.

The best Indian food you’ll ever have!! Anwar is a lovely man/host and makes everyone feel like a friend. Me and my dad have been visiting for over 25 years and in all that time I’ve never had a bad meal - I travel 37 miles each way just to come here. The decor isn’t as up to date or plush as some, but that’s soon forgotten once your food arrives!! Don’t fill up on all the popadoms lol. Recommended without hesitation.

The restaurant was nice, it takes you back to the 90's in a quite interesting way... the food is ok, but not outstanding, and portions are generous. The service is also good. The score is mainly based on taste, but you might find you really like it, so give it a chance.

One of the best Indian restaurants in the Palmer's Green. Particularly quaint the way they bring the food on an old-fashioned wooden trolley. Just make sure it all comes together and is as piping hot as it could be and well organised. What you have had a number of good dining experiences here. Well worth a visit

Love Taste of Raj, have been eating there for over 10 years. Great old school curry house! Great food, fantastic service. They always look after us so well, including the children.

Staff friendly and food was pretty good nicely spiced but a bit too oily. Shame a delivery option is not available.

A large order that had a free bottle of wine chucked in is not really discounted. The restaurant told us that it was pick up only - despite a delivery driver blocking our car in as we picked up. This would all be ok - if the food was great, but it is not - it is very average. All dishes came with lots of onions and cheap fillers and felt very rushed in their preparation. If I tell you that what turns basmati rice into Pilau rice - is the addition of a small amount of pink basmati rice - then this tells you all you need to know. There are so many better choices that you can make - other than this.

I can't believe the other reviews, the food here is some of the worst I've eaten. Absolutely swimming in oil and it's old dirty oil. Can't even manage to make poppadoms as they taste of the dirty oil. Oil slick with no spices and old vegetables which are stringy and over cooked dry rice. Terrible experience will not eat from here again.

If you need some tasty food, Anwar will keep you well.

Well on our arrival, we had poppadoms for an appertiser about 6! along with dips. Everyone else was getting the same so I was shocked as its not often you get something gratis, and considering the lovely location I was very happy, and the prices looked extremely low, which naturally i was also happy about. When the bill came I was surprised as this seemed to be £10 extra than what it should have been. Went to speak with the manager and he said the poppadoms were 50p each? Which I said no one even asked if we wanted them. Then proceeded to add up the bill himself (i think some of the prices were made up!)and he gave me £5.00 back. Its not the point about the money, its the fact that how many times has a bill been randomly added up? Foods great, but restaurant lacks integrity. Hence I will not be returning.

Bottom line: eat and enjoy the Taste of Raj. Don’t hesitate - it’s truly very good. Amazing honest unpretentious service. We returned back to this neighbourhood after being away for more than 30 years. Online recommendations included this restaurant and the reviews did not disappoint. We ate very generously, including lamb, chicken and vegetables dishes. All were most delicious. Spiced and cooked perfectly But it’s the service and extras that go far beyond anything we experienced as visitors to London over the course of the week. So hurry over, then relax and enjoy the great flavours and staff.

My family and I are regulars in the Blackheath area, as we like to go out for a meal every week. We had never tried the Taste of Raj before however, as recommended by my friends, we thought we'd give it a go! First of all, as we arrived we had to wait at least 5 minutes for our menus to arrive, however they were very busy so this wasn't much of an issue. But this delay continued, we ordered our drinks and food together along with the papadoms, but for some reason the papadoms came together with the food. I'm sure that they are meant to be appetisers that arrive before. I had the Chilli Chicken Masala, which didn't taste very good as it was very sweet and tasted more like a Chicken Tikka Masala, that was very dissapointing. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone else, and if you are looking to have some Indian in the area maybe go for the others! We certainly won't be returning!

Having tried the Dipali last week and been disappointed with the takeaway, i tried the Taste of Raj this week for exactly the same dish, Chicken tikka Biriyani and onion Bhaji. This came with a basic salad and very watery mint sauce. The main dish was ok but not exceptional; just average... the vegetable side dish was very oily and didn't look appetising. I did eat it but can't say i would go for that again.. next week a different place.. still searching for my best Friday night takeaway place

I last went with a group of friends and the food was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. We are regular customers and particularly like that very personal experience you get, all the little things makes the difference. They will cook anything you request also. The lamb chops is a particular favourite and this place will continue to be a regular eating spot for me!

Normally I would give Taste of Raj 5 stars easily, but after my last visit I won't be going there for a good while. While their Tandoori mixed grill was decent, the lamb tikka was very chewy and didn't seem fresh at all. However the biggest disappointment is their Meat Madras, this was one of their best dishes before, but this weekend's madras was horrible, the sauce tasted like water and no spice at all and the meat pieces were covered in meat fat, definitely not a good way to enjoy a curry. Above all though, I was very disappointed with the manager who I've known for years and barely said hello on this occasion. Disappointed overall.
