Taste of Asia in Islington

Tried this on recommendation, but a bit underwhelmed by the food, and service. For the price, I expected better. As Indians go, it was about average. Not Bad, but not that good either.

IT'S CLOSED DOWN I contacted openable prior to my booking as I was concerned bed at the last review. I was basically told 'pop along oh and let us know if its closed thanks.' Well it is closed. Maybe now you could stop taking bookings and thanks for ruining my birthday.

Amazing starters and good main meals. Was very good value, however the menu we were given (which we then got 50% off) was a lot more expensive than the one being shown outside to bring customers in. That said, enjoyable meal and would return.

Superb food! Good balance of spice and herbs and food was early and very hot. The chicken was very well marinated and the sauce was unique. Received free spring rolls :)

Amazing food! The grill was perfect, not overburnt and cooked properly. I’ve tried a lot indian food but this one is special, will definitely be ordering from here again. They even gave me free Samosas and papdums!

En Londres debido a razones Personales y al permanecer local, se imaginó a un indio. Servicio amable, la comida era buena pero no vendía alcohol. Conseguimos cerveza de enfrente para beber, que era genial. Un chico regresó mientras estaba aquí mirando el menú que dijo que había algo para llevar en la semana, así que aunque no mucha gente comiendo me animó a comer aquí. La salsa Masala era más rica que la que yo también uso, pero empapada en mi arroz pilau. Muy atento y volvería a aparecer cuando la próxima ciudad.

A pesar de las malas críticas, esa no fue nuestra experiencia. Esto fue muy cerca de nuestro hotel y terminamos yendo dos veces. Mi esposa no come carne, así que probamos el salmón Tandoori, que ambos disfrutamos mucho. También tuvimos una Pasanda vegetal que era muy agradable. No puedo recordar lo que pedimos la segunda vez, pero obtuvieron el salmón otra vez, y un par de otros platos, y también eran muy sabrosos.

¡Qué gran descubrimiento! Estaba deseando la comida india, así que pasee por Londres antes de volver a mi hotel y me encontré con este lugar. Las opciones de verduras son abundantes y los curries son deliciosos, realmente se pueden degustar los sabores complejos. Soy un gran fanático de las especias, así que fue bueno tener un curry caliente que no era tímido con el sabor real. Definitivamente regresaré

Disappointed with the food this time, as previously they food tasted way better. The naan bread tasted quite sour, it was hard and chewy. Also the tarka dhall didn't taste right. Don't know if it was because the food was cooked by a different chef or whether it was rushed as the restaurant was closing soon, (even though we had ordered 2 hrs before).The mixed grill however was okay.

The food is very delicious, but the delivery time varies. One day it will arrive just on time, the next it might be nearly 45 minutes late.

Watery curry with no thickness or taste just oily. Didn't bother to put fork tissue etc pakoras tasted microwaved, not fresh..

Food was really disgusting very unhealthy all the food was full of artificial color the meat it self in ide when you break it is all colour. I am Asian my self and I cook at home there so I honestly know that this food was not right the biryani was bad and the mix grill was even worse. All the tandoori chicken no and the mix grill was just full of colors no flaivour of taste or smell. This restaurant don’t care what they give to their customer.

Surprisingly tasted beyond average. The jalfrezi did taste great but very little lamb pieces. I counted it and was just 5 pieces the rest was full of onions and 2 strips of pepper.

So appalled with this restaurant. The order was 25 minutes late, all the salad was missing, instead of two curly fries we were given potato wedges and the sweet potato Fries were completely missing. We chose this place for my birthday meal but never again. Really not a good place for service

Good food with some interesting non-standard items on the menu. We had two courses and nothing was left uneaten. They have no licence but are happy for you to bring your own. With the 50% offer and beer bought from the off licence across the road the value was exceptional.

Booked through open table, supposedly half price but works out to cost exactly as the 3 course offer as displayed outside. It is a small place with about half a dozen tables & what I assume to be a very small kitchen that only prepare one dish at a time. The wait for everyone was unbearably long even for people who had pre-ordered for collection had to wait 40+ minutes. The poppadoms were okay but after that it was all downhill. Vegetable Biryani was made with frozen vegetables tiny pieces of green beans cauliflower, carrot & sweetcorn with rice & very harsh flavours like the spices hadn't been cooked out. Other curries in the group were equally hotter & harsher versions of you would normally expect. And all the time we kept getting wafts of dirty toilet odour at our nearby table. Will never return

Nous avons manger à ce restaurant à quelques pas de notre hébergement. L'accueil est très amical. Pour ma part j'ai pris un Biryani aux légumes qui était très bon et goûteux. Conseils par contre : les papadam que l'on vous propose au début du repas sont délicieux mais payants, sans que ce soit précisé évidemment, contrairement aux restaurants indiens que je connais en France. N'ouvrez pas non plus la bouteille d'eau sur la table qui vous sera aussi facturée. Bref on a bien mangé, mais on est reparties un peu amères de s'être fait avoir de la sorte. On ira ailleurs pour notre prochain voyage à Londres.

the sweet potato chips were soggy, the salad was not a salad (1 slice of cucumber ,1/8 of a tomato plus few trims of lettuce- like 20 grams ). meat was good overall

I wanted a quick evening meal near my hotel and this was the nearest Indian. The board outside advertised four courses for £11.95 which is good value in London. The interior is contemporary with hand painted flowers on the walls, fresh but not sophisticated. My four courses consisted of a popodom, a started, a curry and a nan. The popodom was cold and stale and came with only two dishes, one a spicy yogurt and one was mango chutney. The starter was two onion bhajees which were freshly cooked and delicious. Sadly the salad that they came with was not fresh, the cucumber was going brown. the Chicken Korma was generous, hot and delicious as was the nan bread. The service was good and quick. If you are eating here stick to the freshly cooked dishes, avoid popodoms and salad. I asked for a glass of wine but they don't serve it, I presumed this might be for religious reasons but later noticed there was lager in the counter fridge, so do they have a drinks license or not? There was bottled water on the table but it is not free, if you drink it you will be charged over £3. Luckily I did ask and they supplied me with a smaller bottle for £1.95.

The butter chicken is a chicken korma. Disappointing as that was the only curry I ordered. It wasn't a bad korma but I don't like korma's so couldn't finish it. The onion bhaji's were absolutely delicious though!

There was a mix-up with a previous order but Jamal ended up including a free sundry as compensation. Great restaurant, great management, love their food!

Food was not as good as theast few times

The food was really good, but the chicken tasted funny. Didn't want to risk it, so chose not to eat it. However, the naan bread and the Korma sauce was very good. I will definitely try them again, despite bad luck this time.

The order was an hour late. Only offered some papadum to apologize. The rest of the order was not even correct, wrong rice and jagged naans..

We were staying in the area and looking for a place to eat, feeling like Indian we went for the nearest, which was the Taste of Asia. It is not a fancy place, but the staff were very friendly and the food was really nicely cooked. Recommend especially the prawn puree and the lamb jalfrezi. Good option for authentic taste, convenient in the king's cross area.

My first time using this restaurant.I have to say the meal was del iicious.Driver was nice and pleasantI .I would certainly use again.

On our way back to our Travelodge we were cold and hungry.The food at the Travelodge was not very appetising so decided to pop into the Taste of Asia as we passed. Not a great deal of atmosphere and quite cold. Staff were friendly and we enjoyed our food I did have an issue with the bill and normally if I had been less tired I would have brought this up with the manager.There was a bottle of water already on our table and several others in the restaurant.It is not unusual in Indian restaurants in Bradford or Leeds known as the curry curry capitals of the North for this to be complimentary so we opened it. While we were choosing our meal we were asked if we would like some poppadums Again we are used to these being complimentary and as we were not asked how many we would like again accepted them as complimentary. When the bill came it was obvious that unlike the Asian restaurants of note back home complimentary items are not a concept that appears to have migrated south. An arbitrary service charge was also added but I did not see any reference to this given any prominence on the menu - May have been in the small print Yes we enjoyed the food but the experience has ensured that we will be more 'switched on' in the future

Very pleasantly surprised. We had the dansak, mushroom rice, veg pakora and onion bhaji. It wasn't greasy and the flavours were very good.

What a cracking little find this place was. Food was superb and atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. Can't fault it in any way. Indian food is not normally to my taste, but I enjoyed every single mouthful here. Totally recommended.

Delivered 30 minutes Late. Rang 3 times and everytime i rang the response was 'let me call the driver' which they did and little did they know that when they spoke to the delivery guy in their native bengali language i understood everything that was being said because i too am bengali!!!! All i will add to this is, be genuine guys, if the guys running late give the customer an honest answer as to how long the food will be!!!
