Would have been nice to get a hello we'll be with you soon. Ignored for 10 minutes then asked if we were OK asked for menu and Ignored for a further 5 minutes my partner was going to leave so I went Inside and asked for menus Service ok after that Food nice I had lobster no tools to attack claws though, wine could have been colder and overall expensive for Mediocre lunch

Great place to dine from breakfast to a main meal. It's little off the high street but when you find it you will not be disappointed. Barbara and staff are friendly and helpful. The food is freshly cooked and piping hot. Even though I only had toast the family had the breakfasts that they really enjoyed. Will definitely will be going back next time we are in Clacton-on-Sea

Absolutely amazing. Took me back to my childhood. If you remember Blooms or The Nosh Bar then this is a comparison place to go. Cheesecake is as it should be. Perfect. Definitely worth a trip. I will be going again.

Popped in here for a quick lunch while on holiday in Clacton-on-Sea in August 2020. So impressed with the freshness of the food and the value for money that we came back for breakfast the next day before catching the train back to London. Fresh food, generous portions, friendly atmosphere and service (and the proprietress's top tip of adding a dash of malt vinegar on top the the bacon was a revelation!). What's not to love?!

I have used this cafe on occasion and it is conveniently placed - Coffee, cakes, sandwiches etc, are of a good standard. Only disconcerting thing was that I popped in there with my elderly mother, for a "breather" rest - who finds excessive walking about difficult, and the atmosphere / hospitality was immediately spoilt, by the refusal of everyone to accept a £50 pound note - I had just arrived in clacton from my teaching post abroad, and only had the money my bank gave me - i.e. 50 pound notes - and I wasn't about to spoil our rest and coffee break by going to the bank and back. Despite my protests of "legal tender"I was denied under the "policy" excuse by the manager, : The whole shop appeared terrified of my cash, and for a moment the implication / inference felt was that I was some kind of criminal, and my patience was tested = not pleasant at all. Nevertheless, in order not to spoil my mother's rest and enjoyment, I payed with a foreign credit card [charges!!] for coffees and cakes. Like I said, nice coffee and cakes etc, but I definitely won't be calling in there on the "off chance" again

Haven't been to Taste for a while but had a nice lunch. Coffee was very nice, I don't think the large was very large, but good coffee. We had a toasty and a gluten free cake slice. We both enjoyed our food and the prices were reasonable. We will go back soon.

Regularly visit with my father who is disabled. They always assist in moving chairs so he can sit easily. The coffee really is the best in Clacton and very reasonably priced. The Hot Salt Beef bagels are excellent as are their selection of cakes and pastries. Definitely recommend.

decided to give this cafe another try whilst out with a friend for lunch after hearing it was under new ownership, were so glad we did.. staff were friendly, we ordered a latte and white coffee both were lovely, the food was tasty.. coronation chicken jacket and brie bacon and cranberry panini. It was nice not to feel rushed so we even had a piece of cake each too the coffee and walnut cake was delicious.. we will be back on our next lunch date can’t wait to try the carrot cake

Since changing hands, this cafe has definitely gone downhill. The professionalism seems to have gone.

I don’t normally give bad reviews on places, but this is the third time I have visited taste and for the third time I have been told that they don’t have what I’ve asked for. When there are shops located nearby (next door) to taste where they could easily pick up the items that they are short of.

The service and the food has always been good. The hot salt beef bagels are my favourite snack, but there is a good choice and always looks appetising. The tea and coffee are good and I believe they are Fairtrade. This venue gives you service and good value for money.

Located in the town centre not far from McDonalds is a great little cafe which I'd walked past a few times and noticed it was always fairly busy.

What they don't tell schools on educational visits, is they don't accept kids debit cards. Not sure if it's they don't accept Mastercard. 🤔

Just stayed the weekend here in a beautiful part of the world. Woke up looking over the Stour and if I thought the views were great, the breakfast was even better. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to make me feel welcome and make my stay as positive of an experience as possible. Couldn't recommend enough and I will make sure to book in again if I ever revisit the area!

I am so disappointed with the service, the manger was very rude. We booked for 7pm and there was still people eating she expected us to wait for 10 minutes then she sat our group of 8 on to 2 tables of 4 in the pub not the restaurant. We asked for a little discount because of the inconvenience but was very rude about it. I will never go there again and wouldn't recommend.

Love the ethics of this place. Best steak pie I’ve ever had! Service is okay and the venue is very nicely decorated, spacious and lots of light and great views. The price was spot on. I will definitely be a regular now. Booking is strongly advised.
