So pleased that the "tasting menu" is back, it was delicious, every mouthful perfect. My only reason for marking 4 star for atmosphere is that eating this amazing food was made even more special when all diners sat down together and each course served simultaneously. The old TARE set up made wonderful food even more special. That said, we will most definitely be back and please thank the chefs for stunning flavours. Thank you for reinstating this menu option.

A lovely lunch served by a lovely chap, manager I believe , lacked a little atmosphere as we were only ones outside but food is pretty faultless, beignet banging, cannelloni 10/10, everything else really nice, maybe a touch of salt here and there but that might just be me as I love highly seasoned food, can aways add can't take away as they say

Very small venue so we only got a seat at the bar. At times we felt a bit in the way as staff constantly walk behind you to get to and from the bar to serve food and drinks. Food itself was a little overpriced for what you got. Pork loin was quite chewy and the prawn cannelloni was more of a appetiser than a main as it was listed. However, the chocolate mousse was rich and nicely complimented with the tartness of the cherries.

We really enjoyed our evening at Tare. It was relaxed and unrushed. The food was delicious. We really enjoyed sharing the plates, especially the pork which was delicious , the wild prawn cannelloni and the very delicious pearl barley risotto. The service was really good, friendly and knowledgeable with regards to wine choice which also complimented out food . We also sat at the counter which I wasn't sure about but it was perfect for us.

Went for the lunch deal and I don't think we could have made a better decision. Portions were the perfect size, everything was cooked fantastically and the flavours were very well balanced. The glass of house wine included in the price was the icing on the cake! Can't wait to come back and try again when the menu changes!

Very good value for lunch deal which started well with lovely and refreshing Isle of Wight tomatoes salad and tempura aubergine with ponzu sauce. Both starters were bursting with bright citrusy flavour which makes you reach out for more after every bite. The pork main was a posh roast with thyme flavoured potatoes puree and jus. Unfortunately the meal was let down at the end by the chocolate mousse dessert which we found way too sweet with the combination of the sweet mousse, sweet preserved cherries and sweet sauce. We barely finished the chocolate dessert and gave the feedback to the waitress but nothing was done to rectify the issue we had. I been to the original Tare restaurant before and I really enjoyed my experience before. I think the new bistro concept is a good idea to make fine dining food more affordable and I support that. I hope to see some improvement in the execution of food and service and I will definitely go back to try the food again.

I rarely write reviews but I had such an amazing time here for my birthday that I had to tell everyone! Firstly the service was perfect. Super friendly staff who knew exactly how to make you feel settled and special. Following that, the food was exceptional. Small plates to the level of taste that I had experienced from the taster menu in the original Tare. Every dish was exciting and delicious as was the wine. Thank you so much. I will definitely be back!

Feel like they are trying to do something different or innovative, ends up paying the double price but tasting ok. For example, the confit aubergines just taste like tempura aubergines at Japanese restaurants, but more expensive for a small portion.

Judging by reviews I had hoped this would be spectacular and I don't have an issue with small plates if taste is amazing, but the plates were very small for price and although good - I wouldn't say it was anything to rave about . Sardines and olives were top notch tho- service great and friendly, helpful staff.

We have been to TARE for the tasting menu a number of times and absulutely loved it. Five star every time – cannot find any negatives. So, it was a very sad day for us when we went along for our last taste of heaven! We were excited to visit TARE Bistro on our next trip to Bristol. Sadly, it simply did not work for us. The food was as tasty and interesting as ever – big thank you to the chefs who create such amazing flavours. In our opinion, the sharing concept simply did not work for these “plates”. The flavours are complex and you need to enjoy every component as it is presented on the plate. Once you start dividing it up you are loosing something – maybe some of the sauce or a delicate flurry of fennel which we could not separate into two shares. We ended up taking half onto one tea plate and leaving the rest in the original bowl so that at least one of us had a bit of everything. We had the lobster cannelloni - which was glorious, except that we had three small pieces - one piece had to be cut in half! Not an attractive dish anymore! Using the same plate and cutlery for every course means that you have sauce from the previous dish now in your new dish. For example, a duck or pork offering is followed by a lobster canneloni or chalk stream trout. It feels wrong to have these flavours all mixed up. I did ask for a fresh plate when mine had mustard on it following the “scotchies”, but I did feel I was asking a huge favour! I also asked for a spoon so that whoever was taking theirs from the main bowl could get some of the delicious sauce. We went to the Bistro knowing it would not be the same as TARE restaurant, however, we did go along with an open mind, knowing the food would be special. The set up of the sharing concept, the atmosphere, the décor simply do not do justice to this amazing food. You cannot relax and savour it when you are scrabbling to ensure you both get the best result. This amazing food needs to be eaten from the dish it is served on – not from a plate that has already had several previous courses placed upon it. The answer is to order dishes just for yourself and not share! Our bill was not that much less than TARE tasting menu and I would have preferred to have spent a bit more and have that special experience, sharing the amazing food but served on your own plate! RIP TARE restaurant, the Bistro sharing concept was simply was not for us. However, the chefs are still creating wonderful flavours which we will always remember and miss.

Loved the food! Great small plates - good seasonal menu, well prepared & presented, and great flavours. A small teams works well together, in a confided space, to offer a pleasant & efficient service. Not sure about putting a restaurant in a shipping container though!! Actually, not sure why there is a 'gaggle' of shipping containers in the old port area. Containers are not part of the history of this part of the port and not at all well suited to hosting what should be a good dining experience! Just my point of view!!

5 stars for the food, it's delectable - i can see why it has such high reviews, the chefs are clearly talented, hard-working and highly skilled. The 3 star- Service staff etiquette (hand placement). Please don't touch a customers plate while asking if they have finished it: wait, until they give you an answer. When theres a messy soupy dish, it's worth giving the customer some fresh cutlery for the next dish. There were too many niggles like this.

The dinner I ate at Tare with three friends on Friday was the best meal I've had all year, and one of the best meals I've eaten in the last ten years. I'm vegetarian and my three friends all love veg, so we had at least one of every vegetable item on the menu, and they also had the prawn cannelloni and the pork belly. It's difficult to choose my favourite item, but the sourdough was huge wonderfully crusty chunks, the almonds weren't over-salted (usually a problem for me), the tomato and curd cheese, and the tomato tart were all utterly delicious, but the truffled rosti potato was the absolute star. I loved the atmosphere and being able to eat outdoors, and our wait staff Carole and the guy from Athlone whose name I didn't get were friendly, fun, and attentive without being obsequious. The whole experience was magic.

I have just had the 6 course meal and paired wines in Tare. I have no words to describe how good this meal was. It was all very delicious. My favourites were the duck course and the puddings. There was a lemon yoghurt mousse and a choux bun with apple custard. I don't always get why wines are paired with certain dishes, but in this case I could see why they were paired and could taste how the wine complimented the food. The staff were very attentive and just lovely people. We're looking forward to the menu change so we can visit again, although I would have no concerns about eating the exact same food if I was to return before that time!

Wow wow wow. I have eaten some pretty amazing food at some incredible places but I think this might be one of the best, and I do not say that lightly. The service was outstanding and the food was phenomenal, plus I also think the pricing was very reasonable for the quality. We had the sourdough, potato, haddock and scotch egg to start. The tempura asparagus, pork belly, prawn cannelloni and the duck for main and we finished with the chocolate mouse- everything was 10/10. What an absolute bristol gem, I could not have faulted a single thing. Thank you!

They have a wildly special list of wine can do glass but didn’t mentioned in the drinking list. Please ask to see if you can have one. Arancini is a must try, very fresh and homemade food; photo rosti is well-decorated and has strong traffu flavor, crispy deep fried skin and original photo and soft inside; trout is amazing, fresh and chewy texture; Duck liver with topping sliced plum and hazelnut, let you have one bit with smooth, crunchy texture, filling with fat of liver and nut and the sweet sour of fruit; strawberry cheeses is nice, too, quite creamy.

Used to be our favourite place to go for a quiet drink and to play ping pong for a few years. It used to be free with a drink but now it's £2.50 each without a gym membership. That would be fine but that money isn't being used to maintain anything. The bats are unusable and we had to stop playing: rubber peeling off and bats chipped on every single one. We werent offered a refund. Also, our glasses were filthy and covered in coffee (I hope). Didn't notice that until I was almost finished.

Food is great, I don't enjoy the feeling of constantly being rushed here. It's not our fault your place is too small to host the number of covers you need to turn a profit. Booked 2 weeks in advance and the waitress initially made us feel like a nuisance. Will return, but not in a hurry. Too cramped and noisy by virtue of being very popular (which is great) and small. Hope they upgrade to a bigger building soon. Plenty of empty ones nearby.
