Hand on heart, I could have sworn I was in a small restaurant in Spain, the atmosphere, service and especially the food just blew my mind!! We shall be back and I can't recommend it enough.

Good was fantastic. Really nicely done and authentic Spanish tapas. Great selection of wine. A dedicated menu for gluten, dairy and other intolerances. Lovely and attentive staff. Had a wonderful evening here, would definitely recommend and would visit again for sure.

My favourite meal out in Edinburgh! We shared almost all the veggie plates and every one was joyful. The service was atmosphere were perfect for a relaxed evening, and it was so reasonable for such special food. We'll definitely come again.

Wonderful experience from the moment we walked in - lovely staff, intimate atmosphere and fabulous food. The ceviche, artichoke and chorizo were my favourites and the basque cheesecake is an absolute must. Abbie took care of us and was so kind and accommodating. Our first time at Tapa and we will 💯 be back!

Intimate and traditional style tapas restaurant, staff made us feel really comfortable. Went on Valentine’s Day and a glass of Cava each was on the table for when we sat down. Only the patatas bravas I wasn’t a fan of as they were more Smokey than I am used to but I understand this is based on a personal preference.

Lovely experience overall, with 50% discounts on food on Wednesdays which is a nice touch. The service is lovely, although could improve on speed.

Nice selection and lively atmosphere We had dinner for 4 here and had a great time. Overall the dishes were tasty, nothing really fell too far short but nothing was exceptional either. It was a little on the pricey side at £40 a head, but in terms of value for money I'd say it was still OK. I would have liked to see a few more options for lighter, green vegetable dishes to balance the meal out a bit more. The lack of good dessert options was also a little disappointing. I'm not going to rate every single dish but some standouts; Iberico Sirloin, 8/10, really tasty and juicy, cooked just on point to be tender, lovely flavour. Pork Scratchings, 8/10, freshly cooked and flavourful. Rare to see the humble scratching done well, nice to see. Slow cooked pork cheek, 6/10, wasn't too impressed by this. It wasn't bad, but was expecting a lot more flavour. In general the food was nice enough, and the wait staff were really great, talked us through the menu and even humoured my (deliberately) terrible spanish pronunciation. Maybe we were just top deep in conversation to pay attention to the food, which I suppose is what tapas is all about...

Fabulous meal. 3 of us chose 3 dishes each. All of them were amazing. Great selection. Different to the usual standard in most tapas places. Will def be back next time in Edinburgh.

Thursday half price means nothing was going to be bad. Really appreciated the vast allergy menu as well including adaptations to dishes to accommodate. Staff were really friendly!

Forgot to take a photo of the dishes but the place is cute and cozy! The dishes are well executed and delicious! We had the three course menu and 2 tapas per person. That was enough! Thanks for the meal!

What a treat… I’ve come here a couple of times, and it keeps getting better every time. Being Spanish, it’s difficult not to compare the food to what I grew up with back home, but this exceeds all expectations—it’s authentic, fresh, and full of flavor. The waitress Ana was absolutely exceptional. She is warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering wonderful recommendations that made the experience even more special. Her passion for ensuring every guest feels welcome truly stands out, and her professionalism is second to none. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon—thank you for a fantastic experience!

Low key tapas at the shore - food is very good

A generational family meal,.They were great with my granddaughter bringing her the children's menu/ colouring book and coloured pencils, and later they had a selection of games for her to play with. The waiting staff were attentive without being over fussy, the food was well cooked, and well presented. Everyone really enjoyed it. If you like tapas it's a friendly great place to go, highly recommend. Why did it drop a star? I don't like tapas, and spent half the night wondering what I had in the fridge to eat when I got home.

Came here after a recommendation and was happy to find parking available directly over from the restaurant, which in this part of Leith is awesome. We had a selection of dishes and we enjoyed some more than others. The scallop was on the cold side and very soft, so possibly cooking or quality issue. Overall the food was nice but nothing was ‘wow’ for us, but pleasant enough. I would recommend to try out and they do have a fantastic lunch menu offering that we seen but didn’t try.

Couldn't recommend this restaurant enough. The atmosphere and decor is so comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is simply divine. The lunch time deal is superb value and we thoroughly enjoyed the dishes. There was a large vegetarian selection. Highly recommend the Baked cheesecake and churros for dessert! The coffee was also delicious.

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here, it was an absolutely wonderful experience! The staff were super friendly and provided great service all night. The food was delicious, I’d recommend everything. We went on a Wednesday so it wasn’t too busy, but it still felt like there was a good atmosphere. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Tapa is our favourite/go to place for a nice meal out in Edinburgh. Food and service have always been excellent and the live flamenco guitar that is often on offer really adds to the atmosphere.

A classic in Edinburgh for a reason, the tapas were amazing, lots of the usual tapas options and some I hadn’t had before, all were delicious, as was the sangria. The baked cheesecake dessert was one of the stars of the meal! Highly recommend!

I’ve been a customer for years and always loved the food, service & atmosphere. However on my recent visit the food, service and atmosphere was very poor to the point that it ruined my Birthday meal. I deliberately booked for a very early lunch as I was taking my young child (who has been before & we felt welcomed on the previous visit) This time around I was so uncomfortable I wanted to leave asap. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life before. We were placed in a corner which made it difficult to get the push chair back out when leaving, I was asked about allergies & told the waiter that I had some allergies, however my food arrived with the allergies in it, I ate a small bit and then quickly realised. I spoke to a waitress who wasn’t helpful & unwilling to rectify it. No help was given by the waiter when trying to open the door to enter or leave the restaurant. It was clear as soon as we arrived that my young child wasn’t welcome. This attitude was from the waiting staff (except for one waitress who was very friendly , kind & compassionate) & The customers who were rude & aggressive towards my child to the point where I had to remind one man that it was 1pm, children do exist & they are entitled to go to restaurants, my child is very well behaved, loves restaurants, they are very curious & all they were doing was looking at the man and trying to smile and communicate with him. No harm was done. I understand the staff aren’t responsible for customers behaviour however they are responsible for their own. Unfortunately I won’t be back. Food was also a let down. It’s usually very good but this time it was very poor. Not paying attention to someone’s allergies can be fatal.

First time. Excellent. Lunch menu great value, but A La Carte there as well. House wines well above the norm. Very much recommended. Will be back. Padron peppers a winner.

Absolutely amazing food. We stayed in Leith at the Malmaison so had just a short walk from the hotel. The food was incredible, especially the aubergine crisps! And they do nuggets and chips for fussy eating children so an absolute winner for a family meal! Would definitely go back when in Leith.

A hidden gem well worth the trek out of the tourist heavy Old Town area. The food was incredibly delicious, with a fantastic value £15 lunch option so you can try a variety of dishes. The squid ink and prawn croquettes and the carrilladas were perfectly cooked, and the flavours really highlighted the ingredients. Definitely make the trip to visit them when possible!

The food here was amazing. Will definitely be back. Super friendly staff and reasonable prices too.

The Solomillo and Gambas are amazing

Super restaurant, squeezed us in on a busy Saturday night at short notice, were very accommodating of a broken foot, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was gorgeous. Will be back.

Blown away by the deliciousness of the food and the very friendly service on top of that. The lunch menu (which we were unaware of when we booked) was an incredible bargain. This was our first time in Tapa but we already booked another visit. Yes, the food was that incredible!

Three of us and our Spanish water dog visited for a Saturday late afternoon early dinner. Started with some home baked bread and olives. Bread was delightfully crusty on the outside and soft and luxurious on the inside. Three of us chose the lunch menu which was still available to 5pm picking 2 tapas each. There are a few meat dishes with a supplement but otherwise £15 per head with sharing patatas bravas and peppers. Portion size was more than ample in fact possibly just a tad too much. Baked goats cheese and gambas and breaded monkfish notably fabulous. Everything was crisp fresh and perfectly cooked. The flavours spot on. Coffee and churos to finish off. Staff were all lovely and very efficient. Couldn’t fault a thing. On the walls are old movie posters from international films - in Spanish of course. The decor worked fantastically well. I’m already looking forward to coming back.

Super Spanish tapas plus sangria options were different

My favourite restaurant in Leith and one I travel to regularly from the other side of the city. The who ambience reminds me of the Camino. You can choose wines to match as well. I'm a Mencia kinda guy so I quite like pretending we are in villafranca del Bierzo, with a bowl of pimientos de padrons. Last time however I was all over the morcilla de burgos and Jackie loved the wee hot dog sausage, along with the beetroot and feta salad. Lots of rocket and rioja. I've been through the menu a few times and I'll go through it a few more times yet as I've got a throat cancer getting treated and I might not be able to drink wine in a month or so. Call me old fashioned but that means I'll be taking the water of Leith walk from the Western and botanics down to Leith a few times in the coming week. Thursday especially as it's 50% off the food at 5pm.

Best Tapas in Edinburgh Been 7 times now & it’s been excellent everytime. My baby is 10 months old and was also welcome in the restaurant. Staff were very accommodating & helpful. Polite, friendly staff & great atmosphere. Good delicious. Would highly recommend

Incredible, couldn’t fault it. The food was some of the best I’ve had, lovely staff too. Would 100% recommend. Easy to get to from the city centre on the tram too and definitely worth the trip out.

We had a wonderful meal here! Very kind staff and the food is delicious. We took advantage of the lunch time deal (if you order before around 4:45/5pm on Tuesday- Friday (it may also be Saturday but I can’t 100% remember) you get 2 tapas dishes each plus patatas bravas and some yummy peppers to share with the table for £15pp) and had some amazing dishes. The sangria is delicious and make sure you save room for the churros for dessert!!! Highly recommend.

I hate tapas.Maybe my pallette is too Irish

I could not fault anything about this place and I am pretty hard to please sometimes. Everything we ordered was delicious and cooked perfectly. The goats cheese in particular was sublime. The staff are attentive but not fussy. The venue itself is perfect for a Spanish tapas restaurant, nice dark interior and they've decorated it very tastefully. Best meal I've had in a long time and I really can't wait to go back! Note... parking is a nightmare in the area but it turns out they have a private car park.

The best tapas selection in Edinburgh! Feels like Spain!

The food was mediocre both in terms of quality and service. The kitchen is obviously too slow, forcing guests to wait 30 min for bread and almost 1h for the main course. The sangria is basically just juice, the food is bland and the solomillo was served almost cold. Do not recommend.

We were there in the afternoon around 4:30 p.m. and were therefore able to take advantage of a special “lunch deal”. We really liked that! The staff were very friendly and were able to provide very precise information about the ingredients of the individual tapas. My intolerance was well catered for and the prawns, for example, were fried without the usual garlic. We really enjoyed the tapas and the portions were very reasonable. We can only recommend a visit to “Tapa”!

A super night watching Spain win the Euro cup. Good atmosphere. The food was excellent. Great flavours and well presented. Staff were brilliant!

We went on a Thursday which is the 50% off food day. We were really excited to try the food but it was sadly pretty disappointing. Most of the food was pretty average and there were a few dishes we ordered which we were told afterwards they didn’t have it anymore so we had to order something else. Same with our cocktail orders, had to re-order something else. The churro’s for dessert were particularly bad, we had to send them back. But they still charged us for them. The restaurant was super noisy, that I could barely hear what my partner was saying. All in all, glad we only paid 50% of the price!

The food was amazing and quiet authentic. I Would give to the place better athmosphere with Spanish staff, because noone was. By the way, Bullfight is something awful and old.

Charlie Johnston the owner is a bully which was confirmed by his staff don't eat here there are other tapas nearby with far better service

Avoid this place like the plaque the owner bully boy Charlie Johnston the most arrogant aggressive person I've met . We went for tapas as have done before with a registered assistance dog we ordered food not a proplem all going well we also ordered food for the dog as everybody knows they have to eat !!!! To be told it's unsanitary for a dog to eat in the restaurant even when they sat us in a corner away from everyone which seemed very discrimatory when asked the reason and to speake to Charlie he came over spoiling for an argument. When asked politely that a child could eat and throw food around the restaurant that was acceptable it seems it is ????? Strange as I have said the dog is trained and very well behaved and is welcome in every restaurant in edinburgh we've eaten in edinburgh including the ivy highly recommend there and Mitchell stared restaurants . I think this owner needs to check his approach even his staff were horrified by his actions and agreed he was a bully not a nice man avoid edinburgh city council will be made aware of the incident and his discrimatory attitude

Pleasant service and tasty Tapas

Good bits: Bread rolls & dips , pardon peppers,prawns and caramelised goats cheese excellent. Bad bits: Iberian pork nowhere near as good as Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s or The Spanish Butcher and is my favourite meat so did spoil it a little bit. Another plus side is the staff are excellent here so overall just a shame about the pork.

We had the best tapas meal we have ever had. The food was exceptional and I wish we could have it all again. We had Pan with the most beautiful pesto, olive oil and beetroot dips. Choose 2 meat, 2 vegetarian & patatas mixta with churros & a cheesecake for dessert. A stunning bottle of red wine and 2 pedro ximinez sherrys. Less than £100 (50% off food on Thursday). Could not fault a thing!

Tapa used to be one of my favourite places to eat. The service has progressively become horrendous but the biggest issue is the menu that has been cut to 1/3. I can't really talk about quality or selection or delicious food. Everything seemed sad yesterday and I think this is the last time I am visiting.

Great food! We came in for a dinner with my extended family who were here for a funeral. We ordered lots of food and ended up the last people there! My family aren't the most polite to waiting staff, I can only apologise 🙄 But the staff patiently remained helpful and served us all a great meal! Thank you!

Great food and drinks and lovely service!

Great little tapas restaurant serving some interestingly authentic options at a reasonable price. Less busy than competitors higher up Leith Walk which makes for a nice relaxed ambience. Really enjoyed the pork based choices which are their speciality. Had some really nice cocktails to accompany the tapas. Nice desserts too, very good cheesecake and the Churros con Chocolate was delicious. Service was friendly and relaxed. They also have a car park but if you're using public transport just get a bus or tram to the Shore.

Disappointed after eagerly anticipating this dining experience based on glowing reviews. Unfortunately, the food fell short with poorly executed cooking. Hoping it was just an off day for the chef.

We are a group of friends (10) having a reunion and booked a table at Tapa. The service was first class and all staff polite and friendly. The food was incredible and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choices. As we were a big group we had the set menu but 2 individual choices.There was plenty of sharing options too. Thank you very much for making our night even better.

Quite possibly the best tapas I've ever had. The Iberico ham was amazing, both cured and cooked. You really would think you were eating fillet steak. Everything from the bread to the black pudding and prawns were gorgeous. A minor criticism would be the size of the scallop for the price. It's not a cheap place, definitely a treat. But the quality is so high that it makes up for it. Will definitely be back!

A great night with family. The place was buzzing, the food was excellent (especially with the 50% discount on a Thursday night) but most of all the staff were fabulous; genuine and kind and always keen to help. Very very recommended!

This restaurant was recommended by a friend as having the best spanish food in Edinburgh - I would agree . A warm welcome from the staff and some good advice about what to choose from the menu . Prices were good , able to mix some specials with other dishes . Spanish wine and beer , all at a reasonable price . The restaurant is a small business , not part of a chain - excellent quality food , freshly cooked

The food was truly good, and it has a nice variety of choice of tapas with some interesting combinations. The staff were lovely, friendly and accommodating. It's a lovely place, with plenty of space for large gatherings. The owner is genuinely a nice person and cares. I would highly recommend it!
