We went here for a family dinner as this used to be hands down the best Indian restaurant in Shenfield. On arrival the place was empty but we were greeted with disdain by a very surly member of staff and told to sit in the waiting area, it was as if we were a burden and they couldn't be bothered to have our custom. Our meal was average but the prawns were minuscule, onion bhaji rock hard and hardly any meat in the chicken tikka masala. I'm not sure if the restaurant has changed hands but I have been going here for 25 years and the food is sadly nothing like it used to be. It's a shame as the ambience used to be lovely but it was a horrid experience. We also witnessed on the table next to us the waiter spilled a whole glass of wine over a poor lady's jeans and the managers response was shocking, he actually told the husband to shut up and go away when he complained 🫣. With an abundance of good Indian restaurants available in Shenfield we will safely say, never again!!

I went with my wife and 3 children. The food was lovely but the restaurant was full of mosquitos and the experience spoilt by the very rude owner at the end of the meal. A waiter spilt a full glass of wine over my wifes trousers when clearing the table the owner at first refused to take any discount off the bill. When I complained he said abruptly that it was a mistake and begrudgingly took off £4.90 which I found insulting. When I told him that wasn’t good enough he shouted “what makes you happy, another £5 off ? and I don’t want you to come back”

What did we eat? I'm really curious because all four of our party ordered lamb dishes so you'd expect to be served lamb, right? In truth I can't really say. We received tough lumps of death in bland, brown matter. That was the second and last time we'll go here. Bad food. Bad service. Avoid.

This used to a great Indian restaurant to visit. The ambience remains of a high standard. The experience of the evening is let down by poor service and tasteless tough meat. With so many other options to explore in Brentwood and Shenfield, I will not be returning.

If you want the cheapest 'cubed' meats known to man covered in cheap tasteless sauce, you will love this place. I am not even sure the meat we were served was chicken because it was so tasteless and filled with water - truly disgusting. Instead of going here, take a little drive into shenfield itself and go to one of the Indian restaurants as their food is exceptional!

We booked a table and upon arrival we were told to sit down and wait despite being on time. But hey, it’s a compliment being busy so this wasn’t a problem. When we sat down it all started to go wrong. All the drinks were flat, the Cobra, White Wine and Soda Water, Diet Coke….you name it. The waiter unfortunately had a problem and the impression we got was that we were in the way and a burden to him. We asked for drinks once and he firmly said “hold on a minute” and walked off and started collecting glasses (he only collected 3) and then started chatting with a co worker up by the till. He finally came back over after he was finished with his conversation. After dinner (which was average - nothing bad nothing special ) we explained politely to the manger that we wont be coming back and he turned it around by saying “Well that’s up to you isn’t it that’s your problem”, so I stated that perhaps by me telling him that it’d stop others from not coming back but he just walked off and ended the conversation. We also mentioned the rude waiter but he didn’t batter an eyelid! I asked for the bill with the card machine, never came so after 20 minutes we got up to walk down the front. Ofcourse the man came straight over when it was a case of money. I paid and got out of there. Never again.

A nice Indian restaurant, reasonable decor, with good service and average food. There are many Indian restaurants in the Brentwood area and to stand out is difficult, this does not stand out. When we arrived they had no record of our booking but were able to accommodate us without fuss. I’ve eaten here many times over the past 20 years and I’ve always thought the food ok, but over priced. I visited last night with quite a large group of friends. The service was good, however the main dishes were lacking in spice and flavour, I would go as far as to say its was bland! Not what I expect for £35 a head. Must do better, as my teacher use to say.

Firstly I never leave bad reviews as I normally can’t be bothered , but on this occasion I feel compelled . Firstly the table was booked for 12 .... what they omitted to tell us was the maximum number that could be seated in an area was 10, so we had to really squeeze in , which wasn’t ideal ... Secondly , the food was really bland . You really couldn’t tell what dish was what . I wouldn’t be going back in a hurry . I used to eat here a lot , years back , and it was always good . It could really do with a facelift and a new chef .

I have been going to this restaurant for my years until last year, where unfortunately the once excellent food, atmosphere and very attentive staff has quickly gone down hill. We went for an evening meal after work and I thought that from the moment we arrived the waiting staff were quickly rushing us to our seats and rushing us through our meal, it came to the point that we only had one bottle of wine and couldn't wait to leave straight after we'd finished our meal, Considering it was only 7.30 and there was only another 2 other diners eating it was a surprise that they were rushing us out so quickly. I am hoping that this was a one off but unfortunately I have not returned since.

After many years we decided to visit this local restaurant, of which we had heard good reports. The service was very good and attentive, the restaurant wasn't as busy as we expected but it was early evening. The accompanying dishes to the mains were very nice but the main dishes were disappointing. I had the chicken chilli masala, and although the sauce was nice and spicey the chicken was thin strips/shredded and didn't appear to be fresh enough for me. The main dish was around £10 which I think is over-priced, especially given the end result.

I chose chicken shashlik as it is my favourite & comes with a salad, I shared the rice with my husband & Keema nan. The waiters were very helpful & didn't have to wait long before our food was served & was very good, very tasty, plenty of chicken with onions & peppers. Will definitely eat here again. Was very surprised as we was the only ones there but they told us that a table had been ordered for 16 & they hadn't turned up, didn't even have the decency to phone & cancel, what bad manners.

We turned up here after a heavily delayed train robbed us of our chosen restaurant in Colchester, but we were pleasantly surprised. We were able to get a table despite it being a Saturday night, but it was quite late! The head waiter was a bit taciturn , he seemed genuinely upset that we didnt want poppadums??However, once that was out of the way(I won him over with unrelenting cheeriness!!)the evening was very nice.Because it was late, we didn't want a huge meal, so Anne had a chicken shaslic, I took the lamb version. We shared a pilau rice and a vegetable curry, and I had a chapati. All the food was nicely prepared and presented.Beer was a Cobra, full size bottle, unlike your other contributr. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Food was great. However night was ruined in the first few minutes by a grumpy and over-bearing head waiter. We were 3, shown to a table of 4. Seating is tight at their tables anyway, and I, sitting alone on one side of the table moved my place-setting to the open end of the table, away from the wall. The guy came over immediately and asked me to move back. I said I'd prefer to sit where I was now, he asked again if I could move 'for the service' - I imagine he meant there would be more room to serve if I sat up against the wall. I pointed out that if there were 4 of us at this table for 4 then the service would still be able to go ahead. He didn't ask me to move again but stood there glowering at me for a good half minute and was cold and off-hand during the rest of the meal. This is just so wrong - from the moment he saw I had moved my place setting he should have understood it was for a reason and not even asked me to move once, let alone pushed it. Made us very uncomfortable for the rest of the evening and ruined our night out. Also, I hate the beer trick that they pulled: on the menu there is Cobra beer, 330ml. I ordered 'One Cobra please'. he said 'Would you like a pint?'. To me this means that they have draft Cobra, and so I said yes please. So then they brought me two bottles of Cobra (660ml total, which is more than a pint) and a pint glass. So effectively I order 'a Cobra' and got and paid for two. Felt very sneaky to me.Overall didn't feel like guests, more like people who were an inconvenience and were to be ripped off given the chance.

When the food arrived I was very disappointed with my chicken tikka, as I put a knife in to the chicken blood was running out. Obviously I sent this back to the kitchen, but amazed that in this day and age that chicken can come out raw. Out of the group of 6, there were a couple of us that were unimpressed. Food was decent enough, staff not very attentive Ok value for money. Now my friends and I don't stint when we go for a curry so they were always going to make a decent amount from us, but they pulled a bit of a fast one because we ordered another X "pints" of Cobra, meaning X glasses, rather than checking if we meant glasses, or actually meant pints which would be 2. Bottles each they simply opened 2x bottles and put them on the table. Fast accompli! Bad form we say! We felt this was underhand. We have eaten here twice in the past three months, and really enjoyed both our visits. Parking is on the main Hutton road, or in one of the nearby side streets. Inside, the atmosphere is warm, clean and comfortable- the decor is slightly dated, but this is one of the things we like about it .Tables are separated every few feet by large fish tanks which all adds to the relaxing atmosphere. No loud music or temperature set too high which makes a welcome change to other Indian restaurants we have visited. The staff are very courteous and gave us plenty of time to choose our food. Service was prompt, and all dishes delicious and hot. Our bill for three adults, which included three mains, three sides, a starter, bread, papadoms, three soft drinks and two coffees ( which were refilled ,without us even having to ask, at no extra charge ) was £56. The staff were very friendly, and we hope to visit a lot more frequently from now on. They also operate a take-out service with a 10% discount on orders over £15.00. Highly recommended.

The tables are separated by fish tanks, which is kind of retro and typical of 1980's Indian restaurants - which we prefer to the modern, stark white Indian's in Billericay.
