I went today with my daughter who is autistic. My daughter was excited (as most children are when they see cake!) So she accidentally tapped the glass.case that the cakes were in. Admittedly it may have been quite hard but my special needs daughter struggles with her own strength. The lady in the shop was very rude which already made me feel awkward. Then I told my daughter she couldn't have a milkshake, sandwich and cake (way too much sugar/food in one go!) So she struggled with my reasoning as many autistic children do. When I ordered the sandwich and a milkshake the lady went into the back to make.the milkshake and then proceeded to come out to say 'excuse me, no shouting inmy shop'! I was shocked and upset that anyone thought they could talk to my daughter this way and no concept that she may have special needs. The customer behind me even said to her child, 'wow don't you play up or she will say that to you!'. I stood there in shock and paid for my things to which the lady said to my child 'I hope you won't play up now that your mommy has brought you a milkshake'. This made me feel embarrassed and upset that she thought it was OK to shout at my child and infront of others. Being a parent of an autistic child is hard enough without being made to feel worse by adults who should know better! The sandwich was OK and the milkshakes definitely wasn't worth the money (tasted like nesquick with a bit of squirty cream and sprinkles on!). Whoever owns this bakery needs to put thier staff on customer service training (especially after reading some of the previous reviews) and some training on how to interact with special needs customers. I left the shop and burst into tears as I couldn't cope with the shock and embarrassment. It would be nice if the owner replied to this review but I very much doubt they will!

We had previously visited Tan Lan Bakery at their old shop higher up on the high street and in Rhos On Sea but this shop is very disappointing and very small. The young lady serving was not very pleasant or hygienic when picking up the cakes so training would be highly recommended. The shop itself is very drab and dull compared to other cake shops and bakeries in the area so a makeover really would help this shop gain more customers as they used to be very busy and had a nice bright shop but now are extremely quiet.

We called in to buy a loaf of Barra Brith (something I treat myself to whenever I visit Wales as it reminds me of my childhood!). We were greeted by a very friendly lady who served us and was happy for us to shelter from the rain for a few minutes. Good selection of cakes and savoury items; prices very reasonable. By the way, the Barra Brith was delicious.

My husband and me searched their website which stated that they sold traditional Welsh pasties named Oggy. So we popped in to get one, as they are delicious. Guess what? They don't sell them, as (quote by the assistant), 'Oggy's are more likely sold in south Wales'. OK. We then passed a local bakery/butchers up the street two minutes away. Lo and behold! They sold them there! Take them off your website please madam, rather than mislead folk. They sell them in Llangollen too. That's also not in south Wales!

The woman serving was not overly welcoming,we were the only customers in the shop,so it wasn't like we were holding up the queue.(I don't expect the person serving me to be my bezzie mate ,but I do expect them to look pleased that I am choosing to spend my hard earned in their shop.)In the event the cakes looked better than they tasted,so wouldn't rush back. We had walked past this bakery first thing on a Saturday morning and decided to try it for lunch as we had been down at the Quay and the bread looked very tempting. My boyfriend had seen the sign advertising "filled baguettes" so we popped in at 1pm, we looked at the menu on the board and started to decide which baguette we would order, only to be told what was in the cabinet was all they had left, errmmm hang on its 1pm on a Saturday and you aren't making anything else? Okay we thought, the bread in the window looked yummy so we opted for a bap each as there wasn't a filled baguette in sight, I had turkey, brie and cranberry and my boyfriend opted for ham and cheese. We were going to have a cake but there was very little choice and decided to have a cake from the bakery up the road instead. We returned to the Quay to eat our lunch and discovered the baps hadn't even been buttered! The bread was tasty as were the fresh ingredients used but the cake from the other bakery was much better and we wished we'd had something savoury from there instead. I would say if Tan Lan can't provide the filled baguettes advertised or even butter some baps then they should stick to just selling bread and the few cakes, sorry to be critical but a dry bap is never good.

Last time I went to Conwy I bought one cake. When I went back a few weeks later I bought three. The variety of cakes they have on offer mean you can never just buy one. Even varieties you may see in other bakeries, strawberry tarts etc, look much more inviting here. The banana cake with the banana flavoured buttercream was one of the most lovely cakes I have ever had, moist and full of flavour. The custard slice which was so huge you could use it as a doorstop and the custard so thick and creamy you could cement bricks together, was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed that over two sittings. Being a huge fan of anything pineapple, the pineapple cream was my favourite. Super sweet, stuffed with pineapple and the cream, with a really nice pastry the actually collapsed whilst eating with the weight of the filling. These I would travel specially to Conwy to get my hands on.There are two of these bakeries in Conwy and it's worth visiting them both.

This bakery in the High Street is a MUST VISIT when we come for a holiday in North Wales. Conwy is a lovely place to visit with so many attractions so it is no hardship to come back time and again to visit one so we can have some cake! The choice of savouries and cakes is truly amazing with quality to match. This time we both had a savoury pie (Chicken and Leek, and Steak and Ale) which were delicious when eaten later on our walk. The array of cakes took a while to choose from, and rather naughtily, we had two each, one eaten whilst going back to the car. The lady in the shop is always very friendly, and the cakes themselves......well, I havent had cakes like this anywhere in the UK. Absolutely delicious. There is a little sitting area too, which is always very clean and tidy for those who can't wait to eat them! If you eat elsewhere in the town, make sure you have enough room to try these cakes for afters! (just opposite Plas Mawr)

Cosy cafe. Not many tables and can get quite busy. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice bit of music in the background. Breakfast was nice but would have been good to have the option of a poached egg. Only option was fried. Enjoyed my milkshake and my partner enjoyed his coffee. Fair value for money given the tourist area. No parking directly outside but carparks closeby and road parking a way up the road.

Tried to charge for a squeeze of Costco ketchup on my son’s chips after I spent £15 on drinks and chips. It’s easy to spend my hard earned money ANYWHERE else. Usually really like going out of my way to support local independent business that go the extra mile to attract more tourists to the area…. Won’t be coming back here unfortunately. Shame as the location is great. Perhaps this is a little petty, but I thought it just plain mean.

This is just the most wonderful place..! Afternoon tea today - their own-blend leaf tea was to die for. Best "cuppa" we've had in a long time. The fixed-price afternoon tea came with our choice of sandwich from the main menu, a choice of home-made cake, and an extremely generous portion of bara brith. scones & Welsh cakes. Do this at least once in your life. The quality is exceptional as is the customer-service - real nice people working here. Vert traditional tea-room setting - about 20 covers inside? Seating also available outside and their are quite extensive trails up & behind the property to walk off some of the carbs ;) If you're visiting the Conwy Valley this needs to be on your list.
