Please revert back to the old style of menu!!! We have been visiting Tampopo Trafford Centre for many years and love the staff & Nick the manager who always goes out of his way to greet us, but this was our first visit since the menu change. Firstly, it now feels complicated. For the main meals, rice/chips/accompaniment are to ordered separately, which then arrive separately and it’s a bit messy having to serve your own rice with a katsu curry for example. I also feel like this has increased the price slightly too. Then there is a service charge which has recently been introduced of 15% and was unexpected. We always include a tip but on this occasion, a tip, on top of the service charge, just didn’t seem reasonable. We won’t rush back.

After a day of shopping at the Trafford Centre last weekend, arms heavy with bags and feet aching, we knew we needed a special kind of place to recharge and indulge. Tampopo, with its inviting warmth and promise of East Asian flavours, was exactly what we craved for date night, we wanted something beyond the usual. Tampopo was the perfect choice, offering a culinary journey inspired by the vibrant street foods of Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Japan. Each dish on the menu was a nod to these diverse cultures, reimagined with authenticity and flair. We began Thai Prawn Crackers with sweet chilli sauce, with the Bang Bang Prawns. Lightly fried to a perfect crisp, the prawns were drizzled with a luscious combination of mayo, sweet chilli, and sriracha. Each bite captured a blend of sweet, spicy, and tangy flavours, balanced by a fresh, dressed salad that made the dish feel light yet satisfying. Next up were the Satay Chicken skewers, a classic Malaysian-inspired favourite. The tender, grilled chicken was complemented by a rich peanut sauce, with a touch of kecap manis that added just the right amount of sweetness. Paired with diced cucumber, each bite had a refreshing crunch that cut through the richness, giving the dish an authentic street food feel. For our main course, we shared the Japanese Katsu. The panko-crusted chicken breast was golden and crispy, served with a sweet and spicy curry sauce that brought warmth and depth. With hints of pink ginger and a touch of Bull-Dog sauce, this dish was a perfect mix of textures, complemented by fragrant jasmine rice that soaked up all the rich flavors. We sipped on homemade lemonade throughout, a drink that was refreshing with a delightful sour kick, perfectly balancing the bold flavours of our meal and keeping each bite as vibrant as the first. Our server, Kez, was friendly and attentive, pointing out the halal menu, providing helpful recommendations and ensuring we felt taken care of without being overly present. Tampopo’s expertly crafted dishes and atmosphere made this date night feel like an unforgettable journey across East Asia, with each bite revealing the rich culinary traditions of East Asia.

The food was amazing, the best we’ve had in a while! Everything had such good flavours that all went together amazingly! Will definitely be back and will definitely recommend for other people to try this delicious food! Elise was a great server and was there if we needed her! 🥰🥰

Food was okay, service was good. I don’t know if it’s a thing in the UK but my well done egg was raw inside and it was 2 POUNDS!! I specified that I wanted a very cooked egg that wasn’t raw on the inside. It may not look raw on the outside but it is definitely raw on the inside.

I loved that how our server today Nick helped with customising my food as I prefer spicier food. He recommended I get chillies on the side instead of making food spicier, so that it can be adjusted to my spice tolerance. I loved the chillies, the next time visit I will need those chillies.

Service is really good. Staff is very polite and attentive. Food in the other hand is super basic, luke warm and flavourless. Ramen soup from home bargains 3for£1 have a lot more flavour than the one they serve. Pork Gyoza tasted off as well. Next time we hitting wagamama

I’m a vegetarian and got a tofu pad Thai. It was encased in this really cool thin egg omlette (sounds weird but it was really cool 😂). Service was fast, food was great. Abi our server was so lovely and smiled the whole time! She was so friendly and got us all the information we needed. Will definitely be back again 😊

They serve hot food! It is important that noodle soup should be served while is hot (warm enough) and the £10 lunch is a good deal!

All good sad that the condiment selection on tables (pickled chilli’s etc) isn’t available any more still great tho!
