Tamarind Restaurant in Northampton

Actually i dont want to make bad review but vegetable curry taste was stale .its not one time i did order before it was happend with me .today 2nd time vegetable curry taste was very bad and smell bad as well .

I always order from here but tonight has put me off completely and I will never order from here ever again! as the chicken was undercooked so they came out and gave us fresh food again and didn’t even apologise the fact the chicken was undercooked and chewy I assumed the second lot off food would off been fully cooked but turns out to be exactly the same my first bite in and the chicken was the same and considering I complained the first time you would thought they would put the costumer first and care about there reputation as a restaurant and it took them 45 whole minutes you would think the chicken was cooked properly this time if I have my choice I wouldn’t even be giving them one star

Ordered a takeaway from tamarind tonight and we are always pleased. Thank you Tamarind for making our takeaway it tasted absolutely delicious. No pics since we were too busy eating it all! We ordered mango tikka chicken with a chicken tikka dhansak, garlic and coriander naan, veg pilau rice with poppadums. If you haven’t tried Tamarind yet you are missing out. Best takeout in Northampton!

Great food & attentive staff, they never fail & their own brand Tamarind Sauce is amazing 👏

Waited over 2 hours for delivery. Service is absolutely shocking, they lied about delivery then after second call blamed computer service and we are still waiting nearly 3 hours later.....this not a one off! Never again. Whilst I was angry at the time of writing I failed to mention that after the second call they offered to refund the cost of the meal, that was an error on my part so apologies to Tamarind for that.

They all start swearing at me saying he own restaurant thinking he bad man disgusting people's have no shame

First time eating at Tamarind and highly recommend! The decor and atmosphere is beautifully stunning, very clean and modern. We were seated quickly on a busy Friday night. Our drinks were ordered and poppadoms served within 5 minutes of being seated. The starters and mains came out within an appropriate time frame and the quality and presentation of the food was superb.

Fantastic restaurant. Accepted a last minute booking for 10 people on a very busy Saturday. They were also very accommodating with 2 of our party needing extra space due to mobility issues. The food was delicious! Staff very attentive and an overall fantastic experience. Will definitely be coming back!

Took my 96 year old dad as his requested Birthday treat. He loves a curry but I had no idea what I was doing and chose the Tamarind from reviews. From the moment we arrived we received excellent service and the staff were kind and reverential towards my dad. When making the booking I had stated that my dad was profoundly deaf and we would prefer a quiet place and it was evident that the place was buzzing with customers so the back ground noise did make it difficult, but there was no music and the staff were really good with him. My only criticism would be that it felt rushed but that may be what they thought we would want and I’ve since been told all Indian restaurants are a bit like this - they aim for three sittings on a table each night.I don’t know this for a fact. The Tamarind was certainly popular and I would definitely recommend as the food was amazing, hot (temperature) hot plates and well advised.

Nasty and Rude owner. Even before understanding what we wants insists we order everything up front. Rushed and market place like ambience Probably drunk owner - no other explanation to such aggressive behavior Not Indian!

Even before we could order, the manager/ owner was very rude, didn't really listen to our requests, was apparently drunk, and when we decided to leave, he chased us down to repeat the rude words he had saying all the while. Never ever gonna go there! There are way better Indian outlets down the road which serve genuine Indian food.

Excellent food. I had the Lamb Bhuna. Very nice curry. Excellent service. The only small thing is the don’t have a wifi service.

Food was amazing however our whole evening felt like we were being rushed . Trying to take plates away before even we had even finished . Such a shame I have never had this before

Visited on a Sunday evening expecting it to be quiet but it was instead a lovely busy atmosphere. The service was excellent from start to finish; not only were the staff polite and efficient, they seemed genuinely keen to ensure that we had the best time. The food itself was very good. It was very tasty, well presented and the portion sizes were just right. I shall definitely return soon.

Had ordered CHICKEN TIKKA PLATTER & PANEER It only the name and show But food is pathetic Overcooked stale chicken meshed and a lot of colour Hardest Paneer Ever And lastly I realised prawns was so cooked and melted Please Take your taste and food seriously.

We came with a big party for a birthday and they were very accommodating, service & food was great - they even gave us a birthday gift, lovely touch! Would highly recommend.

My favourite Indian Restaurant, never disappointed.

It's with much regret that I have to post this review. The delivery guy was rude and aggressive even when I returned the food to the restaurant he was still rude and aggressive. And laughed at my issue in front of staff and other customers in the restaurant i have chosen to use another restaurant

Excellent Service, Excellent Food, Reasonable price, WOW would definitely recommend. Attended on Saturday night had a great meal, service was on point and food was very good only small grumble would be the lack of parking on a busy Saturday night but this is not the restaurant's fault, just a watch out.

Came to this restaurant with a bunch of mates on the recommendation of our taxi driver. They managed to squeeze us in despite already having a booking for a large group. Service was top notch and the food was absolutely fantastic. If Im ever in the area again I will make a bee line for the Tamarind. 👍🏻

The staff are so lovely and the food is amazing there is something for everyone. The bar is also very nice with a lovely bartender.

Went Saturday night to this bust restaurant meeting up with family who are scattered round the country and have various food requirements. It's was very clean and tidy and we were sat at front of house. The service along with the food was excellent. Portion sizes along with taste could not be faultered ..thank you for a lovely evening :)

Had my work leavers do/bridal party here and their service to attend to the occasion was great! We had the balloons etc and they were very accommodating through out the evening. Very nice night. Would recommend the Naan always :)

Had a booking we sat down and asked for extra menus and the owner was being rude about giving us extra menus. Then when we talked to him about it he walked off to get a waiter to tell us that the minimum each person has to spend is £15 like we wasn't gonna spend it or something. Felt really targeted and disrespected.

Took nearly 2 hours to be delivered. No confirmation email after ordering with order details. Chicken in the masala was massively over cooked and dry, egg fried rice wasn’t great either.

Well I hate to say this but unfortunately after visiting this restaurant not impressed and would not recommend it as the food is very bad. I’ve got nothing good to say about this restaurant really bad smell and odour in the restaurant and I think there is better places to go, so therefore would not recommend it to no one

I came to this restaurant for a family dinner and it was the best Indian I’ve had and my family will all agree. The service was amazing with kind and efficient staff. The second we stepped in the door we were warmly welcomed.

Didn't eat in, but the place looked really nice when I collected the takeaway. The food was excellent.

Very very over priced.Chicken dhansak is a hot curry,but here it was very mild and no taste. Upon waiting for our order,we were asked if we wanted a drink,to which I accepted.He then gave us the bill for the drink! There are far better,much cheaper places than this.

Came here with 8 friends last night after booking somewhere else who couldn’t honour our booking. Food and service here were both excellent and they even managed a birthday celebration for me all without prior booking. Would highly recommend and will definitely come here again

Went to the Tamarind last night, I had a Prawn Hundy medium hot with a Peshwari Naan. Absolutely delicious with immaculate, attentive and relaxed service with no pushiness at all 😊👍

We have been getting a take away from here for many months but finally decided to get the family together to enjoy a meal together. They didn't disappoint. Great service, good food. A little noisy when full but that add to the atmosphere even though it can make conversation tricky. The food though is the winner, superb. Love the chilli naan, and their chef recommended dishes! Definitely recommend.

The table had been booked 2 weeks in advance, we informed them there would be kids so high chairs would be needed. When we arrived there were no functional high chairs, they had 1, but apparently it wasn't safe to use. They didn't seem too concerned and made no effort to rectify the situation. We had to go down the road and borrow one from another restaurant!! Vegetarian options are limited and really basic, nothing exciting, especially on the starters menu. The food was quite disappointing, the sauces all seemed the same for several of the different dishes we ordered. I was most astonished with the Paneer Kofta dish, priced at £16.95 and sold as a 'special', it was not Paneer kofta! It was three, over fried tasteless potato dumplings in a bland cream sauce which had grated Paneer in it. Definitely not worth the money, it's not Paneer kofta and not authentic at all. They only had one set of salt and pepper mills for the whole restaurant, so the staff had to keep removing it from tables to take to other guests. So strange. No facilities for baby changing either. Overall disappointed with the service and food, we won't be visiting again.

They booked us in but didn't have the space to accommodate us. I booked a table a week in advance for 10 people (staff meal for teachers) and got 8 seats instead (6 in reality as 2 people were just added onto the ends). They stuck 3 makeshift single tables of different heights together towards the back, next to the kitchen door of the restaurant so it was difficult for people and waiters to get past. When I complained the owner made all sorts of excuses and tried to convince me I had asked for 8 (even though we were really given 6 and we were squeezed into a space that shouldn't have been used to seat customers). I did book for 10, with at least 6 people who can verify this (he didn't want to listen to them either). After gaslighting me he then gave me what he thought was a solution - two people could sit at the front by themselves (for a work party!) and then made me feel like I was being unreasonable when I said this was not an acceptable solution. If it had been just me I would have left but it had taken a lot of organising to get everyone there and it was unlikely we would find somewhere else, so we stayed. Sadly our mood and night was ruined. We ordered the minimum, ate quickly and left disappointed. We will not be returning.

Absolutely superb, we've never had a bad meal here. We eat here regularly and the food is always served piping hot and with such decadence. This is definitely the best Indian restaurant around.

The staff and food are the best I've come across in a long time!! The food was so tasty, all served together and hot. But the staff are what make it a really lovely experience, all so friendly and happy to help. Giving honest recommendations and always checking without pestering. Will definitely be going back soon. We are regular customers of Tamarind, usually taking advantage of their delivery service to NN5. The quality of food is consistently good and we have NEVER been disappointed! We are an international household but, when Indian food is our choice, Tamarind is our favourite by far. Thanks to you and your staff for great food, great service and great value.

Was surprised at how busy it was before 9pm on a Saturday. Good job we booked. When the food arrived it was clear to see why. There were 4 or us visiting Northampton for the first time and we were all impressed with the food and service.

Some of the food was ok, although some items weren’t to the high standard I’d expected from this restaurant.

Went with a crowd the seating was quick and the table laid out nice,the staff was quick to sort drinks out. The food was good but felt the portions was not that big for the price,a couple in our party had Balti meals which came in dishes so large the meal was lost in the bottom. But after all that it was a good time and I would go back with friends

Brilliant place to eat, service was immaculate as was the food. They have a banging deal on Sunday called the banquet for pre booked customers, worth every single penny. Best Curry in town.

Super friendly service and vast menu. Excellent value for money and experience. July 23 Update: Watch out what drinks you order whilst being seated; 2 pints of Lime and Soda, cost me £13.80... ask for a drinks menu before purchasing anything! Obviously not using a soda gun at the bar and bottled instead (rookie move by myself also). Took the sparkle out of the meal with that sadly but amused others around the table when we came to settle the bill.

My friends and I came in during F1 race weekend at Silverstone, and we were blown away by how great the service was. The second we got to the front door we had such a warm and inviting welcome. The rest of the dining experience was nothing short of amazing. The staff were all very polite and informative on all the dishes, and of course the food was amazing! Can’t wait to go back.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST ! This review is coming from a nepali girl recently moved to Northampton. After I saw it was a nepalese restaurant, me and my husband went to try the nepalese dishes! Absolutely nightmare foods were blant no flavors . I wanted to feel like a home but ended up being disappointed! Also why on earth would you force us to buy individual dishes for each of us . Waiter clearly told us we cant order just a single food from the menu. Also there are no nepalese foods no momos no daal bhaat no sukuti … even bangleshi foods are bland after trying three dishes … too expensive blant taste also there were flies everywhere. My suggestion for you guys please remove nepali cuisines from the restaurants name as its not a nepali restaurant and its misguiding!! I am usually not a type of person to give a bad review but the foods were too much :(

Ordered a takeaway curry was missing from delivery. Called to ask where it was they didn’t believe us that it was missing. Also food was stone cold. Naan bread under cooked. Pointless contacting them again due to response to missing food food.

Always seem to be busy, great food too! Parking in the area can be tough though.

Second time I went to this restaurant first time I went they over charged me by £26 i thought i was bit pricey so I checked and when i told him he said it was the man’s first day went second and did exactly the same thing only this time there was 6 of us and he over charged by £74 and same excuse then asked us if we wanted a drink on the house we said yes thanks then they gave us a drink bill for £34 and said the only 1 drink was on the house because of overcharge mistake money grabber last time I go there

If you like a bowlful of coconut then you’re in luck. Very average curry and also missed our order of bhajis. Won’t be ordering again.

Nowhere on the website does it say no delivery to NN6 Order processes fine online and payment is taken. Followed by a phone call a few minutes later to say “we don’t deliver I can offer collection” You need to change your website as taking peoples money when you can’t offer delivery is just wrong.

Okay food. Nice setting. Ordered a 3 course meal for 4 and 3 rounds of drink. After 90 minutes we were told we needed to leave in 5 minutes. 2 minutes later the manager asked us to leave again despite having half a bottle of wine left and glasses on the table. Really poor service.

A very disappointing and bland curry..chicken Balti had no flavour and the chicken was chewy..horrible. The chicken Jalfrezi was obviously a mish mash of whatever was left over on a Friday evening. If you are going to serve the leftovers you should at least reduce the price..We ordered at 21.30 so it wasn't as if it was really late. Such a shame as we have used Tamarind previously..we stopped because the quality had deteriorated. We decided to try again last week and the food was lovely..but after tonight's order we wont be ordering again.
