Gekozen voor de lunch, een heerlijk stuk vis geserveerd met krieltjes en een slaatje. Vriendelijke bediening in een gezellig ongedwongen kader dit samen met de collega's. We komen hier zeker terug

Came across this cafe while attempting to revisit Courtyard cafe but unfortunately it was closed. Due to Covid we had to wait outside for a short while before a very friendly waitress invited us in asking if we wanted to sit inside or out. We initially said inside , gentleman told us to sit at table and someone would take our order, but as it seemed quite hot we decided we would sit outside. The gentleman told us in that case order here before you go out. Different ordering methods depending where you sit. He was rude and sharp at this stage. My wife and I both plumped for a salad. The gentleman took our order, when my wife asked for her bacon and chicken to be slightly warmed, well you think she had asked that he gave her all his money and family! We proceeded to table outside which had recently been vacated and still has cups and plates sitting on it. My wife piled them up and wiped table with napkins we had acquired. A waitress passed a few times but didn’t clear the plates. 10 minutes later the aforementioned gentlemen came out took the cups and plates. Commenting I presume these are not yours. I confirmed. He said our policy is that customers clear own table before and after their meal. Cups and plates he told us were disposable and could be put straight into bin. I realise this is due to Covid but I failed to see how we were to know as newcomers. I was ready to walk out there and then but my wife said no. Salad came and was nice enough but again due to Covid served on paper plates with wooden cutlery. Shortly after the couple at table next to us were leaving and sure enough they disposed of leftovers etc in nearby bin. The customer then proceeded to take a paper tissue out of his pocket and wiped the table. Not sure how hygienic that would be. I emptied our plates into near bin which was almost full Returned inside to pay where I was greeted by lovely friendly lady taking payment. Pity she couldn’t pass on some of her manners and friendliness to her work partner. Never been served by a ruder person.

Very nice café with good quality food. Not a massive selection of food. Lovely coffee. Lovely cosy relaxing spot to eat and if a good day a few tables outside in peaceful garden. My only gripe is it is a bit expensive. A tuna sandwich and latte cost £7 which I think is a bit too much.

I’ve visited this lovely cafe many times, so it’s long overdue an excellent review. It’s in a nice quiet spot at the back of the courtyard, with a small outside seating area. The food, coffee and service are always great and there’s always plenty of choice on the menu. Their well-filled sandwiches are amazing. I really love the unusual foods that you can buy to take home or you can make up food hampers as a gift for food lovers.

When we are seeking somewhere for extent salads, soup, sandwiches or deli food in the Belfast area Christine's Take Thyme restaurant is inevitably the place that comes to mind. Today was such a day. It was chilly, rainy and blustery and by 1:30 hunger had struck and we wanted lunch. Christine was behind the counter and the soup was hot. One of the mysteries is how Christine always seems to source the freshest greens and vegetables in Northern Ireland, but she seems to do so year after year. Salads or sandwiches include your choice of multiple ingredients often including Sun kissed tomatoes and balsamic onions, both of which are excellent and mean that, at least to our taste, no dressing is needed. An excellent choice for lunch and to my mind the best in the Antrim / County Down region. ATB LIG

I went here with friends while visiting Northern Ireland and absolutely loved it. There are no negatives about this place. Across the street from the castle and tucked in a nice little courtyard make this cafe/restaurant perfect for a relaxing time. I ordered the ploughmans platter and a double mocha. So not being able to resist that I actually ordered bacon with french toast and an Americano. `Take Thyme `also has a lovely delicatessen as well as shelves stacked with marmalade, jams, honey and all sorts of biscuits. Should you need a gift hamper, they will do one up for you as well. During the summer season there are tables outside for you to sit and eat in the lovely Court Yard. I found this little courtyard by sheer chance a few weeks ago on my way to a meeting and was determined to come back at a weekend. I did and it was really worth the effort - we live on the south side of the Lough so it's a 60-mile round trip. This is a lovely coffee shop come delicatessen, selling a nice range of food. I opted for pancakes and bacon which were excellent along with a very good coffee. It was a beautiful sunny day and the little courtyard was bathed in sun and you had the option of sitting outside. The cafe is part of a little cluster of gift shops and a well stocked wool shop so altogether offer a great reason to make the journey.

Carrickfergus Courtyard (http://www.causewaycoastalrouterestaurants.com/belfast-restaurants-copy.html) is a great asset for Carrickfergus. Having Take Thyme at the back of the inner courtyard, with its outdoor seating and cottage style appearance, is something special. All food is freshly prepared and good quality - and served by friendly staff, with Christine at the helm. Saturday breakfasts are a feature. In good weather (!) an outdoor table is a must, but be prepared to wait a little if it's busy. The deli counter inside is worth a visit, with a good selection of cheeses, pate etc. to take away. In springtime, the grass is buried in a sea of cherry blossom and quite magical. There is good competition not far away in the outer courtyard, but the cuisine is different. If you're touring the Antrim Coast, drop in to Take Thyme for a tea or coffee, and the cheesecake is to die for...

We were in for their special lunch offer that was on at £. 9.95 for a main course. There was plenty to pick from on the menu. 2 of us had the beef Danaube, and it was so very tender, served on a bed of mashed potatoes, stem broccoli and honey roasted carrots and red vine sauce. The 3rd person had the fish dish, which she enjoyed, she said it was very tasty. For dessert we had 2 raspberry tarts with icecream and 1 cheececake. The total bill for this wonderful meal came to just under £ 55. We will be back very soon.

Ordered at the counter and sat at the only available table. Table was uncleared from previous occupants dishes and crumbs. Sat like that for 10 minutes until the food appeared. One lady lifted the dishes without saying a single word. It was like a silent admonishment for sitting at an unprepared table. The other lady then sat down the food. The crumbs and bits were left unwiped and the table uncleaned. Used to be our favourite Carrick cafe, not any more. Terrible attitude and poor standard of cleanliness.

I've eaten here 3 times now so I thought I would leave a review. It's what I would describe as an honest down to earth family business. The owners have always been very friendly to me and the prices are very decent. The last time I visited it cost me £42 for 4 kids meals (chips, sausage/burger etc and a drink) 2 fish and chips and 2 cans. To me that's decent considering today's prices. The food quality isn't wow but decent enough and the hygiene is a bit on the lower side. Not calling it dirty but not squeaky clean. So overall a solid 4*
