It was one of the best roast dinners I have ever had, and the Inn is full of history.

Positive sides: - Very varied breakfast - Central location Downsides: - Narrow room with no supports - Clothes rack that was being removed from the wall - Velux closed badly - Sloped floor and consequently also the bed - Very bad soundproofing between the various rooms All this for 120 euros: too much!

Well located structure, close to the castle where there is a convenient and large free car park. The hotel is well maintained and the staff are friendly, I consider it a picturesque place as it is located in an old building. The room was not very large but adequate for 2 people and very clean.

Beautiful location. Rooms themselves are typically English furnished. Very large and comfortable beds. The only negative point is carpet, but I don't remember whether that was included when booking or not, so there's no star deduction for that either.

I had food here earlier today - my son & I both ordered steak, well done. My steak was almost rare and when I said about it I was offered free dessert for the both of us. The waitress took our order at 3:15pm & by 3:45pm there was still no sign. Wouldn't recommend to anybody & I certainly won't use next time I'm in Carrickfergus.

We had spent the day in Glenariff in the Glen's of Antrim and my partner offered to buy dinner. The Manageress let us bring our dog in to the reception where there was a little table and comfy chairs in a quiet corner. We had a lovely meal and some drinks.

Loved the thick walls/old fashioned feel of the inn. Lots of different breakfast choices with tea, coffee, brown and white bread.soda bread and potato bread included. So very happy with that. Staff very friendly and helpful. The old rooms gave you a feeling of being slanted which we found quaint. Bathroom very up to date. Loved the mirror where you pushed a button on the mirror and it lit up .

I can't speak highly enough of this venue. Me and my sister have stayed here numerous times and it's a testament to their quality and customer service that we keep coming back here. We brought our 84 year old mother to Carrickfergus and we stayed in the Premier Inn but the only reason we chose the Premier Inn on this occasion was because Dobbins don't have lifts and mum can't manage stairs. But that aside .. we made sure to bring mum into Dobbins for the unique experience and the excellent customer service and they went over and above to meet the needs of my mother to accommodate her needs with suitable seating in their restaurant and afterwards in their bar/lounge. The food was absolutely amazing too and top class presentation and customer service!! Anyone passing through Carrickfergus or wanting an overnight stay Dobbins is an excellent choice!!!

Went for lunch on a quiet Thursday. The food was ok when it finely arrived . The main problem Dobbins has is the poorly trained staff. The young girl who served us really would need to be trained before being put on the floor.

It’s been a very long time since we’ve eaten in Dobbins. We called in around 6:30 on Saturday night and went into the bar, the bar was quite full so the waitress said she would open the restaurant for us. We were the only ones there but not for very long, it soon filled up. Our waitress was really nice and was able to advise us on the menu. We both went for monk fist tail scampi and it was delicious, great portion, chef did an excellent job. Just Sorry to say we couldn’t manage a dessert. But We will definitely be back and it will be in the very near future. Thank you Dobbins inn

Our booking was in the evening of Father's day. We arrived to be told the Father's day menu wasn't available as they had run out of some of the food and desserts. We were given a typed out menu with limited choice, but still enough to choose from. I had seen photos of the food on their Facebook page and the meals looked good, so I decided to book us in and was looking forward to it. We ordered bbq chicken wings for a starter to share. My other half ordered fish and chips with mushy peas and I ordered the roast lamb dinner with all the trimmings. The chicken wings were nice, but were in sweet chilli, not bbq sauce, which was fine and the cheesy garlic bread was lovely. What a disappointment when our main meals arrived! The chips were undercooked and hard, there was a bit of lettuce dressing the plate on its own, no tartar sauce, nothing like as shown in the photos. My mash was so lumpy I couldn't eat it, there were tasteless cubes of swede and carrot all over the whole plate, the lamb was sliced over the top, plenty of it, but fatty and not tender like lamb usually is. The roast potatoes were frozen, like cheap ones you would buy in Iceland, not even Aunt Bessie's lol, one was so hard I couldn't get my fork into it. I poured my gravy onto the top of my lamb and a big congealed lump of skin fell onto my dinner. After picking at my food I decided I couldn't eat it. Eating the lumpy potatoes was just the icing on the cake. My other half sent his chips back. They came back and he said I think they've put them in the microwave. He couldn't eat them. He asked for the tartar sauce, which it shows in their photo in a ramekin, he was given 2 plastic sachets. Needless to say we were so disappointed. This is the first review I have ever given on the Internet and we eat out 3 times a week. But I felt we were so badly done by. They gave us the starter free however when it came to paying for the bill, but it's just not good enough when paying for a meal meant to be cooked by chefs! My other half said he wished I'd made our own roast dinner which would've been 10 times nicer. My dog has had my lamb dinner since, he seemed to enjoy it, so at least it wasn't wasted haha!

The big transformation is the look of the building. The owners, the council and people from the Historic Environment Division (HED) got together to pull away the modern rendering on the façade, and in places inside, to investigate whether parts of the building date back to the 1400s. The work is done, and the new façade, complete with faux battlements on top, looks very distinctive. The reception area inside looks marvellously medieval. The windowsill now shows off the deep rock walls. It’s great to see the place reclaiming more of its historical character, inside and out. Congratulations, by the way, to Derek & Maureen Fallis for winning the Lifetime Achievement Award at Carrickfergus Business Awards 2019. Well deserved! Dobbins has always been good for music, as well. I was here for food. I ate from their snack menu, which is served from 11am to 6pm. You can choose all sorts of things to pack into a £5.95 panini. It was great – see photos. I like the wood panelling on the walls of the dining area.

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed the amazing meal last night at Landings in Dobbins! The Beat the Clock offer is on Mon to Wed between 5 to 7pm. The price you pay is the time you order. Order at 5 pay £5. Order at 6.30 pay £6.50. Sides and sauces are included too so its a fabulous deal. How this place isn't packed to the rafters with such a fantastic offer is baffling. The surroundings are tasteful and service excellent, quick and super friendly. The menu though maybe could do with a little tweaking. Maybe adding goujons or lasagne would make it a bit more appealing to the general public. We were extremely impressed with the quality of food, for the price is was astounding. Perfectly presented and a pleasurable experience all round. The beef brisket, Steak ciabatta and the Chicken Caesar Salad are stand outs. They also offer a large variety of vegetarian dishes. I urge everyone to give it a try, I can promise, you wont be disappointed. Well done Dobbins, keep up the good work!!!

We were in for their special lunch offer that was on at £. 9.95 for a main course. There was plenty to pick from on the menu. 2 of us had the beef Danaube, and it was so very tender, served on a bed of mashed potatoes, stem broccoli and honey roasted carrots and red vine sauce. The 3rd person had the fish dish, which she enjoyed, she said it was very tasty. For dessert we had 2 raspberry tarts with icecream and 1 cheececake. The total bill for this wonderful meal came to just under £ 55. We will be back very soon.

Ordered at the counter and sat at the only available table. Table was uncleared from previous occupants dishes and crumbs. Sat like that for 10 minutes until the food appeared. One lady lifted the dishes without saying a single word. It was like a silent admonishment for sitting at an unprepared table. The other lady then sat down the food. The crumbs and bits were left unwiped and the table uncleaned. Used to be our favourite Carrick cafe, not any more. Terrible attitude and poor standard of cleanliness.

I've eaten here 3 times now so I thought I would leave a review. It's what I would describe as an honest down to earth family business. The owners have always been very friendly to me and the prices are very decent. The last time I visited it cost me £42 for 4 kids meals (chips, sausage/burger etc and a drink) 2 fish and chips and 2 cans. To me that's decent considering today's prices. The food quality isn't wow but decent enough and the hygiene is a bit on the lower side. Not calling it dirty but not squeaky clean. So overall a solid 4*
