I just LOVE the food: the tandoori mixed grill is out of this world: not your usual red coloured, slightly smoky stuff! Samosas are great tasting - in fact all dishes are in a complete different league from the usual Braintree fare!

Friendly delivery. Good tasty. Rice a little greasy and overcooked.

We were told the order would be ready at 8.15pm and then we had to sit and wait for 30 minutes despite being told numerous times it was nearly ready. The restaurant wasn't busy so there was really no excuse for this. The food was nice but it didn't make up for the wait. We decided to collect as we thought this would be quicker but it really shouldn't have taken over an hour for this order.

Food was delicious and delivery was on time and pleasant.

You never get a fulll portion anymore. All the containers are half full. The madras was awful, not cooked and no sauce at all. The sauce that was there was watered down and tasteless. We called to complain but they didn't care. Their excuse was that they have a new chef. We won't be ordering again.

This restaurant has changed its name to the Gurkha have eaten Indian all over the world. This was the absolute worst everything was coming out of bags from supermarkets samosas was bought from the supermarket Canyon barges was bought from the supermarket. Curry was bought from the supermarket. Popadoms was stale absolutely disgusting.

chicken tikka was nice along with the potatoes just the naan bread couldve been better.

Arrived over an hour late! Ordered 16:05 stated 40 min delivery (then updated to later!) and then arrived 17:50 when I had to go outside to find delivery driver. Food was alright (apart from Dhansak was not good not sweet sour, just hot!).

We’ve ordered from here twice this week and both times it’s been such great food! Definitely a new favourite!! Best lamb dansak and chicken tikka I’ve ever had, beautiful coconut rice too.

Was okay. The sag poneer was not as I’ve had it before so had I known I might have ordered something different as it was very tomato based and not creamy at all. Coconut rice was lovely. Could have been hotter as well.

We were blown away by the quality of our food - so much so that I've written a review which I only do if somewhere is exceptional. It was so delicious and moreish, very tasty and felt like restaurant quality. We literally mopped up every morsel. I'd say this is the best Indian takeaway we've ever had hands down, and will most definitely be ordering from here again!

First time, lovely meal & delivery driver

Delivery time was ok, portion size was good. Mixed grill was very average, tikka masala was absolutely tasteless. Literally tasted like canned tomato soup. With what appeared to be watery frozen chicken. Ruined the meal. First and definitely last time ordering I’m afraid, don’t know what the people reviewing it are eating :/

Ordered a couple of the Nepalese dishes, these were really lovely. My husband thought it was by far the best curry in the area. The okra was delicious. I love Napalese dishes as used to eat them growing up so is lovely to have somewhere to order from here much more fragrant and a nice level of spice. Will definitely order again.

Food is good but the delivery driver delivers while smoking a cigarette/vape. I don't want smoke fumes blown in my face thanks. Won't be ordering again.

Arrived nice & hot ! mix tandoori was missing prawn as listed in the menu , chicken was well overcooked (dry & chewy) but the rest was ok!

The restaurant has changed its name I thought it was the same just with a different name Unfortunately the food was nothing like the previous meals It wasn't tasty at all We will not order any more food from this restaurant

Tied you for the first time. Mine and my father's food was excellent however for the price of £10 per curry the portions are lackluster, to say the least. The most disappointing item was my mother's Tikka Massala, we all tried and agreed it was awful, had no sweetness and the texture of the sauce was very odd indeed. Would try again but for the money I didn't think we got great value.

Main dish had very little meat. Keema naan had a very thin layer of meat. Sag aloo was sweet, obviously had sugar in it

tikka masala used to be really nice when the restaurant was the taj mahal now it’s bland and creamy instead of flavourful

The spice levels were really good, the korma was really runny with sauce and a piece of chicken was tough, not the best korma, butter chicken was completely wrong

This was the worst meal I have ever ordered in my life. The butter chicken looked wrong and tasted worse than it looked. I will never order from this place again. I ordered cheese naan there was no cheese in the naan

Lamb Jalfrezi was far too spicy, (and I like heat, but this was unpleasantly hot). No naan bread provided with the Balti ( most takeaways send a plain naan with a balti).

Really tasty food and fantastic service. My order arrived and I thought I had ordered a dish which I hadn’t. Phoned the Taj and they made and delivered the additional dish in very good time. Thank you so much, would definitely order from here again.

they gave me the wrong order - plain and simple. told me to go through just eat to get a refund. didn't want to remedy the order by sending someone out and gave me some story about how "they've run out" of a dish. fact is, i ordered 3 totally different dishes to what i got. only thing kind of similar was the curry - i wanted chicken but got veg. didn't order lamb rice, or that weird yoghurt sauce either. awful service, will never order here again.

The chicken Korma was very watery and quite tasteless. The mint sauce was again tasteless. All in all quite a disappointing meal.

Came Saturday for a family meal. Restaurant was very cold and staff were complaining as well! Took over an hour to serve starters. Two were missing and only turned up after everyone had finished and were luke warm. Asked for 5 mins to order mains but waited ages, then took ages to arrive all covered in copious amounts of onions. Seems takeaways take priority over restaurant diners. Not staffs fault ours! This used to be a nice restaurant but now is poor all around. Should stick to being a takeaway.

Completely dreadful, 1.5 hours to finally severed starters 25 mins from first plate to last. 2.5 hours in and still main course not ordered. Staff very rude , although I felt for one of the waitresses who was clearly no older that thirteen

Stated delivered at 18.25, was actually delivered at 18.56! Lovely meal and wouldn't of minded waiting for it but annoyed the driver lied that it had been delivered on the app to pretend it was delivered on time.

We have tried many different Indian restaurants in the town but we always come back to Taj. Good food, good portion sizes and consistent quality.

Food was 45 mins late and cold, food was not nice I would say the worst Indian in braintree. I would not recommend using this takeaway at all

Food was room temperature , chicken was tough and they forgot my onion bahji ,that was delivered but later than the rest of my food.

Took about an hour and a half to arrive and all I could really taste was salt.

What a find. Ordered delivery. The food arrived hot and was amazing!! Nice portion sizes and delicious. Definitely will order again. Very happy. Thank you. 😊
