A well established place and the food variety is great ..the staff are always friendly and Galib and Raheem and the rest of staff are amazing!

Party of 24 looked after brilliantly by Rahim and Galib. The food was really good as well. Thank you guys.

Opens early, ideal as we were going to theatre, Food was good and service very attentive as they dealt with requests not on the menu. House red wine good price and reasonable.

I experienced a wonderful evening of fine dining at this amazing establishment. As soon as I entered I was blitzed by the stunning aroma of spices and sensual body odor which rendered me almost unconscious. Upon ordering my dinner I was astounded by the delicate flavours which regaled my senses. I was served with the utmost attention by Galib who bowed down to my every demand. I was dazzled by the beautiful city lights which surrounded this establishment. Upon my leave I was aroused by the food to such an extent that I immediately made a hasty retreat to the nearby DVD business to quench my desires. Please visit this restaurant should you pay a visit to this fair city and you shall not be disappointed.

I often take visitors here when in Birmingham and have never had a bad experience, Shahidul served us with a smile and nothing was too much trouble for him (the same can be said for all staff), would thoroughly recommend (Nepalese Dhansak and Desi Tikka Masala are amazing)

It was my first time coming here I was served by Galib who provided a welcoming and exceptional service. He was polite and recommend good dishes to try which tastes really good. I recommend you to come here try the food 10/10 and ask for Galib who will take your order. Will come again.

Been eating here since the 1980's, when my older brother first took me here, very much less frequently over recent years, but the food has always been amazing, taken lots of different groups here. Don't know if it's changed hands but i ate here a few weeks ago with my brother and both curries were terrible. We even sent one back and they brought us a different curry and that was also awful. A very sad day as we've said we won't return. The place was also freezing cold

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant . The food was absolutely delicious, especially the garlic tikka chili recommended by the lovely guy (GALIB), and his service was top-notch. He was very attentive and made excellent recommendations. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxing evening out.

Came here with my girlfriend and had a beautiful Desi butter Chicken and a special Biryani. Amazing service from Gialib and Raheem who were very helpful and were lovely host. Will be coming back when in the area :))))

I visited here with friends recently on a Saturday night around 7.30pm. It was quite busy and we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. We all ate poppadoms, and mains. I ordered a Lamb Saagwala, Madras hot with pilau rice, chips and a plain naan. The food was tasty, and the service was good. I recommend visiting here if you're in Birmingham. It's also one of the oldest Indian restaurants in town.

Very disapointing. Had tandoori chicken starter that was bland. For main course I ordered mixed tandoori jalfrazie, ie prawn chicken and lamb. No prawn whatsoever and the lamp pieces were pea size chicken was ok. No real flavor just heat. Wont be back rhis used to be my go to place when in town.

A great curry close to the train station for those quick curry fixes before a train or moving to your hotel. Service is excellent as is the freshly cooked naan.

Went in after the Villa on Friday. Full to the brim of Hammers fans so they must know it's good! And it was incredible. Food 10/10, service was brilliant, open nice and late!

I took great care selecting this restaurant as the reviews were outstanding. Sadly the food did not match those reviews. On the plus side the gentleman serving were excellent, very curious & attentive. I ordered chicken shashlik which I am very partial to. This effort was obviously warmed up, the meat was tough not tender & light as it should be, the peppers & onions dripping in oil. The Peshawari naan was disappointing & also covered in oil. My friend had a prawn curry with no zing to it & it was described as 'sludge'. We should have complained but being typically British didn't want to make a fuss which is daft. Having enjoyed many a top notch curry in our time this one didn't rate a notch at all.

Came here on a Monday evening with my wife during a visit to the Christmas Market. We live in South Yorkshire and decided to do some research on line to find an Indian Restaurant not too far from our Hotel. I believe this restaurant has been operating since the early 1960's and the reviews looked pretty decent. We were certainly not disappointed. For us this was the best Indian food we have eaten at a restaurant for many years. It reminded me of my favourite Indian restaurant in Sheffield back in the early 1980's which is no longer around unfortunately. The service from Gahib (I think this is his name) was excellent. A very friendly guy and it was important to him that we enjoyed our evening. If I visit Birmingham again, I will definitely eat here again. It was pretty quiet on the evening we ate there but it was a Monday night. I would think it gets busy at the weekend

Comí solo, lejos del trabajo y me hicieron sentir bienvenido y me registraron varias veces durante mi comida. La comida es muy sabrosa. Tenía una parrilla mixta de tandoori servida en un plato caliente con cebollas suaves y especias muy sabrosas. También tenía un Dahl que a veces puede ser soso, pero estaba lleno de sabores con el ajo pasando muy bien. Un paño desechable caliente se ofreció al final de mi comida, buen toque. Muy recomendable de mi parte y sin duda volveré.

I have been an occasional customer at Taj Mahal through the years and decided to have a farewell curry night in Birmingham. The food was full of flavour, the atmosphere was zen, and the hospitality was on point. Shout out to Galib and Raheem for making this experience great!

This was a delightful little find. I have been working nights in Birmingham and decided to find somewhere for dinner rather than my usual sandwich munch. walking in, I was greeted with a friendly member of staff who directed me to a tabble and was immediately asked what I'd like to drink, which arrived very promptly. The food was brought out in a reasonable time, and more importantly, it was delicious. After I had eaten, and the plate was empty, they took the time and interest to ask what I did and seemed genuinely interested in the conversation. Great place, lovely people, and fantastic food. Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely be going back. 😊

Honestly one of the best places I’ve been to so far when it comes to Indian cuisine. Great atmosphere and ambience, lovely music playing and the food just hits different. Highly recommend! The waiters are very polite and especially Ahmed, he’s very nice and has a friendly face ready to welcome you in.

The biryani I received was extremely bad. The rice had no flavor at all—no whole spices were used, and it was excessively loaded with turmeric to the point where my tongue felt irritated(photo added for reference). It seemed like no care was taken to balance the flavors, and the chicken was simply added on top of this tasteless rice. The result was a bland and unappetizing dish that did not come close to authentic biryani. I was thoroughly disappointed with the quality of the food and the overall experience. Based on this, I cannot recommend your restaurant to others, and I will not be ordering again in the future. I hope you take this feedback seriously to improve your offerings.

Found this gem after a long drive from suffolk to watch a gig! Poor sods had barely unlocked the door before me and the missus walked in fancying a curry and a beer....the staff where great but made it clear they had literally just opened and needed some time, if that was OK, to get things up and running.... fine by us 2 cobras to wait and then food was ordered again we was told everything is now firing up so bare with! Great sign of food being cooked nice and fresh... for us personally we had 2 amazing curries and the sides where excellent... again personally the breads we had where stunning propa tasty grub. We love a good curry so the next time we are in Birmingham we will hunt down this place no questions asked... Big thankyou to the 2 fellas that served us.. Galib and Raheem , nice guys and great service! Cheers

We had an amazing dinner. The host Abby was friendly and gave wonderful recommendations. This place is one of the oldest curry houses in the midlands and is a must visit restaurant for anyone visiting Birmingham. Very convenient location near Birmingham New Street Station.

What a lovely restaurant. Great food, fab waiter and brilliant experience. You can pay £25 for a dish of Chicken Tikka Massala in central Birmingham now. This was less than half the price and represented much more of what a great Indian dining experience should be.

I make a point to go here whenever I’m in Birmingham. Top-tier all the way around. Raheem and Galbib were informative and welcoming. Can’t wait to return.

First class food and service only a three minute walk from New Street Station. Why eat at the station when you could come here? Delicious lamb kebab starter and equally fabulous Desi butter chicken with all the trimmings. A very warm welcome from Raheem and Galib. Totally recommended!

Highly recommend this great little restaraunt. Served by Galib, Rahim, and Rifat, who where all excellent in advising on the menu, giving a smiling proffesional service. Food lived up to expectations, starters were all very good. Naga curry, Baltis and Jalfrezi were all top notch. Will be back next time we're in Brum.

Always a great place to go for a pre-theatre meal. Friendly and attentive staff, quick service, never seems too busy, and there’s plenty of menu choice. I also like how the madras here is hot, but not so much that it’s got no taste like some other places do it.

Fantastic service from walking through the door to leaving. A very friendly set of staff. Food was exceptionaly well presented and tasted very well. Reasonably priced. We came for our 42nd wedding aniversary and was not disapointed.

Fantastic little place just round the corner from the railway station and the theater. Modern music in the background and a very fresh, but still Indian setting. Great selection of starters, curries and sides with nice veggie options for me. Decent drinks menu (although pricey) and a nice little coffee after. Raheem went out of his way to get to know us, not at all intrusive, interested in our trip and recommending food to us. We'll definitely come back because of the staff (and the food!). Nice 2 for 1 Taste Card deal on some food Monday to Thursday saved us a bit of money, but still worth the original price...

Another excellent discovery, just 5 mins walk from Birmingham New Street station. We arrived around 18.00 and within 30 mins the place was absolutely packed with people. The food was delicious, lots of veggie options and professional, easy service. No pressure, just great! Definitely recommended!

Sheek kebab, Keema Naan was hard and meat was smelling bad Naan and Naga Chicken curry was average which was eatable. Chicken Pakora was more of a batter than chicken. Overall I do not recommend this place for Indians.

Best chicken Tikka Masala I have ever had. Everything was absolutely bang on. The waiter (Raheem) asked all our party what they liked and tailored our meals to suit. Can not fault any bit of oue experience at this place. Thanks for a great feed lads.

The most important thing is that this is not an Indian restaurant. The naan tasted like heated ones from the supermarket, Dhal Makhni was bright red and sweet, we took one bite and had to return the food back. They don't even know about the items on the menu and how they are supposed to taste and gaslit us by saying that this is England and this is how we make it here. The verdict is that this is not an Indian restaurant.

Me and my friend had a delicious dinner with authentic taste of Indian food....that was the best ever taste we experienced in England...and the staff was amazing and friendly..we enjoyed the football match as well....I really recommend the place to enjoy the food....with ur loved ones🤩❤️

The restaurant sits in a quiet corner of a busy part of the city. When I visited, it was not very busy; but don't let that quietness fool you. The pathia I had was very flavourful and the chutneys with the papadums were great, as was the egg fried rice. My girlfriend really enjoyed the dupiaza too. Staff were lovely and polite at all times. The price was also lower than expected.

worst experience and worst food I ever had, I waited for almost one and half hour, the waiter was not even responding when we called responded but came to us after 20 minutes, worst experience one can ever get from a restaurant. I won't recommend it to anyone

Ever worst experience with Indian Cuisine restaurant. The food quality is awful 😣, no taste , no quality and very low In quantity as well. Just wasted our money and time. Order time was too long even when the restaurant has no customers. If there is zero star option available I have to choose that. Awful really. We ordered paneer tikka and they charge extra for sauce 🙄

Have been to many great Indian restaurants and this one is no exception ! Staff were really polite, especially Refal who served us. The food was really good, especially for vegetarians with paneer being offered for all traditional curries. Good portion sizes, lots of flavor and perfect amount of spice. Would definitely recommend

Having visited Taj Mahal on many occasions, I must say it offers a pleasant dining experience. The naan breads served here are a delightful highlight, perfectly baked to complement any dish. However, my recent experiences with the food have left me somewhat disappointed. While the restaurant once held a reputation for excellence and was among the finest Indian dining establishments in the area, it seems to have faltered in maintaining its quality and flavor. Many dishes are excessively oily, detracting from their overall appeal. Despite the culinary setbacks, the service at Taj Mahal remains impeccable. The staff consistently deliver a top notch experience, ensuring diners feel welcomed and attended to throughout their meal. It's evident that the management prioritizes customer satisfaction, yet the decline in food quality is a concerning trend. As a regular customer, I've granted Taj Mahal ample opportunities to rectify its shortcomings, but unfortunately, it appears that my visits will be put on hold for the foreseeable future.

I had an excellent vegetarian meal here. It was all cooked to perfection, and service provided by Rabbi was excellent. I wish my local curry house in Devon was as gods as this. One of the top 5 curry I have tasted. I have travelled extensively in India, and I still put this place top 5. Go.

I stayed in Birmingham for Mach 2024 exhibition at the NEC, my hotel was close to this restaurant so I decided to give it a try. Probably the best chicken dopiaza I’ve had. Friendly staff, great food. What more can you ask. 👍

Very rarely do I give a full 5 star review to ANY restaurant but I've got to say on my visit back into Birmingham I had to visit the Taj Mahal on several recommendations..I wasn't disappointed..the staff (Shahidul and Jamil) were both on point on service and cleanliness...both very polite and couldn't do enough to help...a rarity in today's climate..The food served was so close to authentic Indian cuisine you really wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you were sat in Birmingham or Bangladesh..5 stars and top marks to head chef Jalil and under Chef Shiplu..I couldn't recommend this restaurant any higher if I tried..100% hands down the best Indian Birmingham has to offer BAR NONE

Really impressed with how flexible this place was. We were a party of 12, and quite a rowdy one at that. It was a friend's stag party, and we were due through the Bookyup app at 8:30. Due to other planned events overrunning we had to reschedule, twice, and they were great about it. The food was really good and the bill was incredibly reasonable for the amount of food and drink we had. At the end of the night, we paid and stayed for a good 15 minutes finishing drinks with no issues at all. Baffled by the other reviews citing poor service, as they staff couldn't have been more helpful, even happily taking pictures of the group for us.

My husband and I went for dinner at Restaurant Taj Mahal and really enjoyed the ambiance. The food was fresh and delicious, and the best part was that the chef sent us a dessert made that day. The dessert was called Golap Jamun which we were really happy after eating. Moreover, their service was also very good and commendable.
