Mughal-e-Azam Restaurant in Birmingham

Recently visited Mughl e Azam Restaurant, Environment, hospitality of staff, presentation, was excellent (served by Arsalan) and rest staff was good But were so disappointed with food quality, mix grill platter, chicken krahi was not properly cooked Meat was very hard and no taste. Recently attended someone's Nikah and food was so good, tasted like home food so decided to go again for a birthday meal. Payed £120 and was so disappointed at quality of food...

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast at Mughal-e-Azam, and it truly lived up to its royal name. From the moment we walked in, the warm hospitality and elegant ambience set the tone for a memorable meal. The breakfast spread was both generous and full of flavour. The parathas were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft within, while the freshly made parata and omelette were rich, aromatic, and beautifully spiced—comfort food at its finest. The omelettes were fluffy and well-seasoned, and the chai had that perfect balance of strength and sweetness that rounded everything off perfectly. What really stood out was the attention to detail in both service and presentation. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and every dish felt thoughtfully prepared. Whether you’re looking for a hearty desi breakfast with family or a relaxing morning treat, Mughal-e-Azam delivers quality and tradition in every bite. Highly recommended! We came for breakfast for the first time here. I was very hesitant as u don’t think at first instant it be the best place for breakfast. But I must say, it was 1000/10!!!! I definitely recommend it! I have the poached egg with avocado. It was sensational. I will Be definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. To top it of, the service by Usama was also fantastic. He took the utmost care with our order.

I visited Mughal e Azam with my family. Tahrim served us food.Food was delicious. We enjoyed alot there.

I visited Mughal-e-Azam today along with my family, let's quickly get to the food 1st. Tikka platter was just awesome 👌 as starter, everything was so tender and delicious but I would suggest to the chef 👨‍🍳 please make Chicken wings as tender as kebabs, chops and tikkas. Let's get to main, we ordered charsi karahi but to be very honest it's not the real charsi karahi it was just normal karahi and I think the chef just put green chillies on top to make it look alike charsi. I'm disappointed about the Charsi karahi. Let's get to the amazing service. All staff members are so friendly and helpful specially Maryam and Umar are the real gems 💎. We were treated like real mughals lol 😆. Overall it was just great experience to have dinner at Mughal-e-Azam. We'll come back some other time to taste different dishes.

Poor quality, half cooked food, rude manager who can’t even make a sentence and will lie to your face and is very aggressive, I was overcharged and admitted it but refused to refund me saying I should have checked before I paid, they charged me for 2 dishes at £14 each that I DIDN’T even order and for 2 drinks at about £8 each. I will never go back and if you want decent time with your family then please stay away, you’ll find at 30 restaurants in Birmingham which are top quality. PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

Usama and Bilal very good service

Arslan is the best — his service truly stands out! 💥💥❤️ The atmosphere at Mughal-e-Azam is amazing, perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. The ambiance gives you royal vibes, just like the name suggests. The food is decent — I’d rate it 8 out of 10. Some dishes really hit the mark, while others are just okay. But the overall experience makes up for it. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the mood for a regal setting and good service!

Enjoyed a great family dinner here today. The food was lovely and spicy, and the service was brilliant (we were serviced by the lovely Arsalaan). The interior design of the restaurant is also outstanding.

Disgusting. AVOID AVOID AVOID Hair found in samosa. Mixed and stuck in the masala. No apology given, staff response was as if this happens. The managers response was very poor.

Food was amazing. The dead breakfast portion is big. The shakshuka was very flavourful, could do with extra bread. Nida Ali served us really well, always available and quick to get us extra bread when we needed. Always smiling and cleaned the table as soon as she knew we was done.

Food quality average. Two things need to mention no water availability. Only have to buy by bottle water...and asked for tap water not available...this is ripping the costumers. Only thing is good lay out and old building appearance very good....but we go for food every times...which is average. Also in cold drink bottles straw is short which one can see by photo...lastly kebab very hot too much chilli 🌶.

I used to enjoy Mughal-e-Azam, but my recent visit was really disappointing. The food on the platter all tasted the same — no distinct flavours at all — and the lamb curry was just as bland. It felt like the kitchen has lost its touch. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, but there were 7 to 9 staff members standing around, just staring at customers, which made the experience feel uncomfortable and awkward. It’s a shame to see the quality and atmosphere decline like this.

The decor, parking etc is good. I’ve been here before so it wasn’t my first time but the food was disappointing. No distinct flavours, It was almost bland especially the Lamb Karahi. I would not come back here again.

Visited Mughal e Azam today for breakfast and had a fantastic experience the food was great and service is also upto the mark served by Aliza who is very kind and nice person and behaved very well.

Enjoyed the traditional Pakistani breakfast. Perfectly cooked and delicious. We had halwa purees, pratha and omelette. Nice atmosphere, everyone enjoyed their food.

He welcomed us personally and took the time to explain the menu, making excellent recommendations based on our tastes. Throughout our meal, Arsalan checked in just the right amount, ensuring that we had everything we needed. His attention to detail and friendly demeanor made us feel valued and at home. We went here after a long time after being tired of shopping whole day in Birmingham. Food was quite average. Chops had too much colour (hand were litterally red as if we had dipped out hands in paint). Papri chat was nice and also Paneer tikka. We had taken chapli kebab for take away which was actually full of small bones

First visit, breakfast today with my daughter and grandson. From reception to staff in restraunt, exceptional service. Food was delicious, well presented and price and portions perfect. Beautiful venue. Perfect for families and couples or friends meal out. Will defo be back again. Huge thank you. They cater for functions and weddings. Wedding hall gorgeous 😍

Absolutely amazing dining experience! The food was perfectly prepared and presented, and our server usama was attentive and knowledgeable making sure that if we where running out on anything he was there for us very polite and well mannered. Also our other server Nahida was really happy in serving us and taking care of everything managing everything well. You have a great team of staff and the food was freshly cooked to perfection . Hands down,some of the best food I've had recently!The freshness of the ingredients and the unique flavours was unforgettable.

The family enjoyed a positive dining experience. The appetizers were excellent, and the lamb chops were tender. Portion sizes were generous. Sehreen and Arslan provided exceptional service, demonstrating knowledge of the menu and a welcoming feeling. Main courses also featured ample portions. However, the biryani requires attention to detail as it was the only subpar dish; all other courses, from appetizers to main courses, were outstanding.

Beautifully decorated, great atmosphere and great service. We went for brunch, had the desi breakfast, meghalaya thali, Mediterranean breakfast and tagliatelle. Food tasted great. Portions sizes are good too. We were stuffed. Served by Nida, who was polite, friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back.

This restaurant is housed in an old church building which is beautiful. The starter platter was amazing. The chicken & prawn handi was delicious. The naan was soft & chicken briyani fragrant. All the staff were attentive especially our waiter Omar. This is my favourite Birmingham restaurant.

Food tasted amazing, service was incredible - special thank you to Arslan who was extremely attentive and provided excellent service! - he is amazing! Busy atmosphere but was still very well attending to. Will be returning very soon :)
