This was so good! We ordered a takeaway from our cottage a few miles out from Taunton in the sticks. Delivery was on time and the food was excellent, and different. We got a few free popadoms too. The Mumbai red mirchi was really nice. Very spicy as hoped. Excellent folks!

well this one was one of the first indian restaurants I had which was very good, the food was very nice, luckely I didn't take 2 peppers as a dinner, 1 pepper to indicate whether it's spicy or not was more than enough. staff is great. in the winter time they should do something on closing the doors , it made it too chilly sometimes

We were after an earlier dinner on a Wednesday evening and this did the job. Food was amazing and staff were attentive.

Went here with my son early summer, wasn't sure if it was that great. Son had Butter chicken looked like a load of cream was on it. My son mentioned at the time it wasn't good really... Went back with a friend, on a Tuesday night, we have been into all of the Indians in Taunton now, this was our last one....! In short there are way better around than this one! Booked and waited to be seated, plenty of spare tablets but seemed to want to clear one on the window. We both think there are better places than this one, and better menus elsewhere. Didn't seem busy at all, waited a while to be seat, and waited to be asked if we wanted a drink or poppadoms, not usually the case in a Indian. The menu seems more set for take away. Pretty standard dishes really. Once ordered the food didn't come out together, waited for naan bread and side order. Potoes are hard, like boiled ones with some sauce on. At the end they took the plates didn't offer to take any left overs home. Didn't bring any hand towel. Service wasn't great. Atmosphere - hard to explain.- lacks one really.. The price overall was expensive for what we had, two guys, both fairly hungry £100 done easily. Probably won't return, wouldn't recommend and will go to the various others previous visited.

We went here after the cricket late on a Saturday… They managed to squeeze us in and thank god they did! What an amazing curry we had! The service was great, they couldn’t do enough for us… We ordered poppadoms to start and it was great to see more than 3 dips… they had 6, and loads of it… Our mains then came out, presented amazing and they tasted even better! Will definitely be coming back… Top marks :)

I had bad experience with Person who is serving his name probably (Moue) . Way of talking is very rude, I really felt decriminalisation from his end.

Just ordered from. Here a Chicken Bhuna and chicken tikka balti.. What can I say. The best Indian I've had in a long time. I'm a brummie, we know how Indians should be. This is some next level. The taste, the quality the naan bread, the chips just incredible. Wow wow wow. I will be telling everyone about this restaurant. 10/10. ONE VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER

What a superb restaurant, we visited to celebrate our son’s girlfriend’s birthday. The food was excellent but the staff are by far the nicest most hospitable waiters we have ever experienced. We will most definitely be back thank you for a wonderful evening

We chose the Taj Mahal for a take away for a special birthday and were delighted with our choices. Delivered to our campsite The Cornish Farm site with ease and quickness. Delicious from the first mouthful and so many taste sensations. Highly recommend you give it a whirl.

Fantastic service from these guys just had a piping hot meal delivered by a young man who was polite and delt with social distancing in a great way. We was worried at first about the change in management as reading other reviews about recent visits did not do it justice but so glad we gave them a chance I work within catering and know about how food should be prepared and standards well these guys the food was spot on well done Thank you to your driver he was a massive help tonight Thank you and we will definitely see you soon

Absolutely awful Indian. If I could give it 0 I would. The food arrived after quite a long wait, with two meals missing. Called the restaurant who said they would get the missing items delivered. When the second lot was delivered we still had one missing meal. Called the restaurant again with no answer. Called again using a different phone number and answered straight away so clearly ignoring my number. We were told that when the driver came back to the restaurant they would call us to tell us what was happening. They didn’t take the number down even when I offered it, so it was evident they weren’t going to call! They claimed that everything was packed in the bag and I was lying. After an hour had passed I called again and had no answer, used another number with no answer so I asked a friend to call and they were answered to straight away so again clearly ignoring our calls. I did persevere and managed to speak to them a third time and was told that I should contact just eat for a refund. When explaining that we still wanted the meal as my partner hadn’t eaten they said they were very busy, they had 4 drivers out but it would take over 2 hours to get our missing food delivered. I was told again that all the food was packed and that I was lying. Not sure I would go through all this to get an extra vindaloo!!! By this time all the food that was delivered was cold and the whole process had ruined what was suppose to be a nice takeaway evening. I can’t comment on the food because it was cold and we were too angry to enjoy it. I certainly will never order from here again. The service is awful, the staff are rude and a lot of money was wasted. Don’t do the same.

Food it is nicely presented, however the meat of our starters was clearly not fresh and the chicken still raw inside. Service is totally absent. Nobody asked if we were happy with the food or if we needed another drink. Prices are reasonable. With some improvements the restaurant would be well worthed a visit.

Usually we love ordering from here. But tonight our delivery was over an hour late. No discount. Was just told everyone’s orders are late tonight.

Text order through website, phoned them to confirm order , no answer for over an hour, no ring back or message to say late or cancelled , so sat waiting to see if any food would turn up, money paid, not happy , used to be a very good Indian takeaway/ restaurant. Really need to step up to the mark !!!

I’ve been to this curry house for over 10 years and have always had excellent service. However on this occasion it appears to have changed management and the service was appalling. I went in at 2230 on a Friday night only to be told that I could not be seated and that it was takeaway service only. If I wanted a takeaway I would have phoned! The place was empty and the staff clearly were too lazy to serve me, even though they had advertised the place as being open.

Enjoyed an amazing meal, food was freshly cooked so don't come in you are in hurry. Its so worth the wait. I went with my family and had their banquet meal, served on Tuesday and Wednesday. Such good value, we had 4 starters, 4 mains, 2 sides and hams and rice all for less than £50!!! With trying something different. Best Indian meal we have had locally

We have been coming to this restaurant for 15 years, its changed management and staff, changed its name and its menu but its has always been good. Not now though, the poppodoms were soft and stale and the helpful friendly Indian waiter brought us some more which i'm afraid were exactly the same. The main course was worse. We complained to the waiter and he apologised and told us they had a new chef and brought us another of the same dish but still awful. The young English girl waiter seemed to think it was funny and came over to our table smirking and being off hand and rude. I have never had such a terrible Indian meal ever before and i will never go back to this restaurant.

Came across this restaurant on a business trip. Trying to find somewhere to eat on a Sunday night can be problematic but I was tempted as I strolled down the road by this one. The service was faultless, the atmosphere was pleasant, hard to accomplish when almost empty, but felt very comfortable here. The food was delicious and a wide variety available, it’s always nice to find something different and yet still comfortable. If I am ever back this way again I will be looking it up.

Ate here last night 29th July , very pleasant experience indeed - pleasant welcome from young waitress - who turned out to be very good and friendly & helpful with selection choice . Mixed grill starter was abs lovely and tender & tasty 👍👍 main course was off Chefs recommendations part of menu / I always have Jalfrezi and wanted a change - can’t remember what it was called ( mixed meat with a sauce) and it was delicious- would defo go back here again when in town - good price - very good quality- good Kingfisher beer too 👍👍

Food Quality excellent, freshly cooked Chicken Moris and freshly baked Naans. Great service and peaceful place.

We haven't been here for over a year as it wasn't that good but we tried it last night and what have we been missing! The food is so delicious. I don't think i have ever had such a lovely Indian meal before. Every thing was so hot and fresh. I recommend the 'flying purple pakora', just divine. I could eat them every day. The vegetables were fresh not frozen. The service was friendly and attentive. We'll soon be going back there.

What a night!! We had been looking for a good Indian Restaurant for some time so we thought we would give Taj Mahal ago. When arrived we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table. Ordered the food didn't have to wait too long considering it was very busy. The food was gorgeous with fantastic service and a very fantastic atmosphere.

My wife and two friends are huge fans of this lovely restaurant and after a visit there last night we all conclude that they have set the bar for the opposition another notch (or even two) higher.

The worst takeaway I have ever had. Very very poor quality, inedible, late delivery. Would not recommend.

Just about average. There was only one waiter serving the entire restaurant, which I can understand on a slow weekday evening but this was a Saturday night at 7.30pm. In truth we just felt ignored all evening; as only the absolute bare minimum was done in terms of service -being seated, drinks order taken, food order taken (after a while), food served, then having to ask for the bill after a very long of being ignored. Just was lacklustre and nothing special. Food was average and although we asked for table water at the start of the meal, we were never served anything but the drinks we could be charged for.

Nice food, friendly service and very fast. Great value to. Will be going again soon. Recommended.

Enjoyed a nice, but very quiet, Saturday night here. The staff were courteous and polite, service was fine. the food itself was also good, although two of the three dishes were described as hotter than expected. My jalfrezi was much much hotter than I usually experience elsewhere (this is my typical choice in many venues). Quality seemed good but just too hot. A pint and a half of water helped but I'm not sure it should have been this way.

It took one hour for our starters to come and two hours for our main. The lamb jalfreezi was in fact chicken, but we didn’t bother replacing it as we didn’t have another two hours spare to wait around as it was already 10pm.

Waited 2 hours and only received our starters on a night with only 3 tables, terrible service. Would not recommend.

I love the korma from here and have been having take away from them for a number of years. This is my go to takeaway. The rice is always good and the korma outstanding. Creamy and yummy.

Went in for a meal with friends on Wednesday I must say it was one of the best curry I had for a while n the service spot on will go again.

Shocking service, had poppadoms then ordered main meal then got asked again for main meal and then got asked yet again!, We then walked out with my friend and another family walked out at the same time!. Then went to another place for a meal, friend forgot scarf so went back, offered to pay but was given a £10 voucher off, said they had staff problems but not mentioned to us when in the restaurant waiting hours for our meal.

Walked in on a not very busy Saturday night got seated straight away waited over a hour for food felt forgotten about the service was poor when the food eventually turned up it was amazing but not worth the long wait and bad service x

this place has really gone down hill, used to be good but will not be going back. waited ages for food, when it arrived (not all together) it was cold. the service was very bad , kept asking for update to order etc with no sensible response. The food is just ok, quality of meat quite poor, especially the lamb. Shame, we really used to like this place.

The tabel next to us sent back their food because it was cold , they sent back their wine because it was corked The table opposite sent back their food because it was the wrong order. the table next to us on the other side left after an hour , before their food arrived. we were served the wrong drinks . An hour after we ordered , they asked us what we had ordered again , we left 20 minutes later without paying. There are plenty of good Indian restaurants in Taunton , so dont go to this one.

Im Phil From Cardiff on visiting my Girlfriend in Taunton last night decided to go for food. I goggled this restaurant and thought id give it a go. Had chicken Pathia Keema rice nan bread food was large portion and very tasty staff were friendly restaurant very nice and clean. looking forward to returning for another meal

Great food, always fresh and very tasty. Wednesday and Sundays also have great deals and the food is still amazing. The staff are very friendly and accomadating. One of my favourite places to eat in Taunton and I will continue to be a regular at this restoraunt

I visited yesterday for a cheeky takeaway and it was absolutely delicious I had chicken tikka masala and would highly recommend. The staff were very friendly and attentive and food was quick and piping hot when I got back to Cotford. Will definitely be returning. Thank you

When planning a visit to Taunton our good friend Moin suggested we go to the Taj Mahal Indian restaurant and try the lunch time special, so we did. OMG the food is amazing, full of flavour and at £6.95 I'm not surprised that they're really popular. Ask for Raj who really looked after us and made us feel very welcome. We'll be back again soon.

Booked a table for 4 and had a range of curries, jalfrezi and the chefs special with naga chillies.Was great value and the staff were very polite - fab

My wife and I plus another couple spent a very relaxed Saturday night eating a splendid meal here. Our friend has a nut allergy and she was advised which meals were available by the very friendly staff. I am a reasonably frequent visitor with the Taunton curry club and know the quality of food and service but the other 3 had not had the pleasure. Needless to say they concurred with my liking for the place and want to return again soon because of the lovely food but also for the relaxed atmosphere.

Amazing food every time. Deliveries are always quick and we've dined in a couple of times too. Eating in the service is exceptional, the staff are so friendly and helpful. Would 100% recommend!

We have been to some of the highest rated indian restaurants in Taunton and would have no hesitation in placing the Taj Mahal at the top. Whether eating in or taking away, the quality of their food and service is excellent, and their fish curries - the Pangush Moli and Lasoni Masala are both delicious. The dishes served deliver a good variety and all actually look different, rather than some of the other restaurants where all the curries look like the same basic sauce has been used, just with some extra spices for the hot meals!

It's quite old fashioned with the interior, but felt like a typical Indian restaurant!! Food was lovely, the service excellent, staff were pleasant.. cost was reasonable.. would I go again? I thoroughly enjoyed the best curry I have ever had with friendly accomodating staff.Well done! The location was close to where I was staying and the restuarant was clean and well presented.

If you like Indian food this is the place to be, great service, friendly staff, and the food is to die for and if you can't finish your meal they will let you take the rest of it home with you, plus you get a free shot of Bailey's after your meal.

I have eaten there twice recently. I have discovered that the food is tasty an d felt afterwards that I had eaten good quality cuisine. In addition there was a vast range of drinks . to swallow.

Very quiet when I went, found the staff very friendly, good service and the food was good. I took advantage of the meal-deal which was good value. I had a starter and main meal and a beer for just under £20.

This is our fourth year of visiting the Taj Mahal for a Christmas Day curry (5 adults and one child). The welcome you get as you walk through the door is wonderful, lovely big smiles and excellent service throughout. The food is delicious, it's always hard to know what to choose and we have never been disappointed. The Christmas Day menu includes a glass of champagne. Absolutely wonderful. We are already looking forward to our Christmas Day curry as usual but of course, will be back way before then.

Ate in on New Years day. The food was lovely. Well presented and hot. Staff helpful. Would highly recommend it. Visited here Christmas last year - definitely well priced for Cghristmas day.

There is a vast range of Indian restaurant in Taunton so with the recomendation of some friends we decided to give the Taj a try, for a meet up with old colleagues pre Christmas, we arrived at 7.15 and there was only two other tables occupied,we were seated and offered drinks and pompadoms and browsed the menus, the service was efficient and friendly, the food arrived speedily and was tasty, following the meal we chatted for some time and we were offered a free drink from the bar which was a nice touch as was a Christmas card given to each of our party, overall a good meal value for money meal with good service

This was my first visit to Taj Mahal ( 2 couples). On entering the restaurant I had an instant feeling that I was going to like this place, it felt warm and cosy, tastefully decorated with deep colours but a modern look about the place. We were greeted by Raj, who to be fair we knew from another restaurant and has always been thoroughly professional. We were seated and brought poppadoms etc. We all chose from the menu, I had the lamb shashlik masala and my girlfriend the chicken equivalent, along with our friends we also ordered naans, rice, sag aloo etc, the food was extremely well presented and hot. We all enjoyed our meals, only one little hiccup was I thought my lamb wasn't as tender as I would have liked but my girlfriend's chicken was beautifully succulent. We didn't feel rushed at all and the place has a really relaxing feel to it. All 3 members of staff were very good and extremely eloquent. The guy behind the bar was telling me that they are open on Christmas day for turkey curry, incredible! So in summary, excellent surroundings, excellent service and very good food. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and am seriously thinking to make the Taj Mahal my regular go to curry house.

Was really hungry after a late stint at work. Raj made me feel so welcome and comfy whilst I waited all of next to no time for some good food. The service alone I would recommend for this resturant.

Having read mixed reviews we though it was high time we tried the Taj Mahal for ourselves. We didn't get off to the best of starts as the poppadoms had a distinct flavour of old oil but the starters were very nice and probably our favourite part of the meal. When it came to the main courses, the lamb jalfrezi we ordered was very good (we asked for it to be extra spicy) but the chicken bhuna was decidedly average and the Bombay potatoes were very uninspiring and quite honestly the worse we had ever had. The staff were very nice, both friendly and helpful but unfortunately we will not be rushing back any time soon!

Have visited this restaurant many many times and it never disappoints. Lovely food with plenty of fresh herbs making delicious flavours. Front of House Manager gave us superb service and advice on what to order with the chef creating a special Prawn dish with shell to my liking.Well worth a visit :-)

This is a good Indian food restaurant, I arrived on a Thursday evening and was the only one in to start with. I was greeted promptly and politely and had ordered my food within 10 minutes. I can recommend the Taj Rezotti from the Bangladeshi House Specials, it's advertised as a medium heat but I found it milder then that. However the flavours were superb and I've not before come across a dish that combines two types of tikka and a kebab in a curry and wasn't disappointed at all. The other food was tasty and quickly delivered and the prices are very reasonable.
