Taj Lark Lane in Liverpool

Very disappointed with our mains as every dish came out topped with plum tomatoes which over powered tasting g any curry! Kinda thinking they used the tinned Tom's to pad the main out instead of the curry's we ordered!! Less is definitely not more and won't come again.

Honestly speaking, Very bad food. I ordered food for me and my friends yesterday. 2 Tandoori Chicken, 1 garlic bread, 1 mutter paneer and 1 vegetable rice. Yesterday night my friends were having vomiting and diarrhoea after having the food. Never ever buy food from this place.

We tried this place for the first time tonight, really lovely meal food was spot on. Ambience was really nice, romantic setting. Price was cheaper than expected, we had 2 starters 2 mains, rice, nan bread, chips, poppadoms and chutney tray. Glass of wine and coke £65 Staff are very attentive and the quality of the food was really good. We only took 1 picture as I don’t really like taking pictures of my food I just want to eat it but we took 1 picture for the review. We will be back again.

Came here for a cute galentines meal, we arrived and waited around 15 minutes for a table which was fine. Once we sat down it was at least 35 minutes before anyone came to take our drinks order. I know it was busy because of Valentines but we tried so many times to get the staffs attention. Once we ordered the food, the popadoms came relatively quickly which were delicious. The mains however took FOREVER. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 and we didn’t get our mains till 9:15. The staff looked miserable and didn’t make any conversation, never got asked if the food was good. Even a smile goes a long way and we didn’t even get that. One word answers all evening. I got a chicken bhuna for main course and it was so unbearably salty, I have tried a lot of bhunas from different places and this was next level salty. I could barely eat it. When I questioned a waiter about how salty it was all he replied with “okay”. I didn’t expect money off the bill or anything I just wanted to make the chef aware to how salty it was. My friend is vegetarian and got paneer bhuna and that was just as salty and she agreed so it wasn’t a taste bud thing. My friends had a chicken tikka masala, they enjoyed it but only had about three pieces of chicken in it. The atmosphere was nice and lively and we had a nice booth table, however this made it awkward with getting staff over to us. Overall, we wouldn’t return and I think I’m going to be drinking water all night. Lark lane is a lovely place to go for food and drinks so I would deffo recommend you look elsewhere.

Pasanda is super sweet, you can only taste sugar, the vegetables are hard, and other dishes are also mediocre.

Been here a few times and I can honestly say that I've never had a anything that wasn't totally spot on! The food is fantastic and the staff are great. We always eat early and it's always been fairly quiet whilst we've been eating. I'm sure it must get busier later in the evening because to me, it's the best restaurant on Lark Lane.

Food was ok, the Korma was very sweet and sugary. Otherwise location was good.

The curry was very watery and tasted and smells like tabasco sauce not Indian spices. Wasn't enjoyable.

Fast collection time. Easy pick up processs. Naan breads delicious. Balti was overly salty and lacked depth of flavour. Friends described korma as bland rather than mild.

My order wasn’t delivered at 18:20 in fact it never got delivered i was still waiting for my food at 19:30 and still nothing came and I tried to cancel and I wasn’t able to so I would like a full refund I came to the restaurant and I have picture proof that it wasn’t delivered at that time in fact in never left the restaurant

the deliver driver called to tell me he was outside the hotel when he was not! he then took a further 20 minutes to actually show up. when he did arrive he was on a peddle bike. no wonder everything was freezing and inedible

Couldn't order off of Deliveroo because 2 miles away is "too far".

Honestly - usually order here as our go to but this time has put me off forever. The butter chicken was the absolute worst I’ve ever had. It was the same as a korma. The butter naan wasn’t even cooked, literally felt like soft dough. Very disappointing.

I called these guys last minute to book a large table of 15 for my mum’s 60th. They were so helpful from the start, we all arrived and realised the group was larger and they worked so hard to make sure everyone had a seat even though the restaurant was already busy. The food all arrived together hot and delicious and the service was fantastic. They really looked after my mum and we all had a great evening. Could not recommend this place enough the staff all work so hard and every one of us left so happy and enjoyed all of our food. Thank you so much Taj.

First time here. Me and my wife walked around sefton Park. And decided to try this indian restaurant. Poppadoms were nice. And my lamb and chicken Nagga. Was nice. Keema rice good. But we both got the Handi. Lamb and chicken and channa. Both bland. Made with base gravy. Not cooked down. Naan bread was good. But there's that many restaurants to go. We won't be returning to the Taj.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Butter chicken tasted like butter from popcorn. No indian taste at all. Chicken tikka masala looked radioactive red with very artificial taste. Servers weren’t nice to complete the experience. Avoid it if you can!!

Superb Indian food in a great location. We had poppadoms and pickles, Chicken Tikka Nargah and Duck Dhansak both with pilau rice, plus a couple of pints of draught Kingfisher. Delicious.

The veg curries are pretty awful. Always the same thick acidic tomato sauce with no flavour, chapati soggy from being in a plastic bag. Restaurant that doesn't care about quality unfortunately. Last time for this place.

NOT AUTHENTIC INDIAN FOOD. This was the biggest disappointment I have ever ordered off of deliveroo, I can understand everything may not be authentic however all of the curries were RIDDLED WITH SUGAR TASTING ALMOST LIKE A DESSERT! the sickly sweet taste took a while to fade, I have absolutely no positives at all.

Food never turned up, and you have no way to contact Just eat and the restaurant offers no help at all. I will never order from this restaurant again.

I ordered two biriyani's it was the worse one I had ate in my entire life

The Chicken Tikka was too dry. We just left it unfinished after one bite. The grape juice "wine", was even worse. Servers were rude. Overall not at all a good experience.

If you’re rider don’t pick up orders from them absolutely disgusting behaviour and no respect let you wait in cold. And also checking 20 times worrying that you steal their food… 🤦🏻Luckily I’m Italian and I don’t eat that stuff .

2nd time ordering from Taj, ordered again as it was great the first time but not so much today! Chicken tikka masala was really watery, popadoms soggy, onion bhaji stale and overcooked and the peshwari naan was all wet in the middle where the peshwari filling was, was dripping and running out, not how a peshwari naan should be! Chicken tikka balti was good & chips were hot and fresh. Wasn’t up to much this time unfortunately

My husband and the squash gang have been coming here for years - the food is excellent and the staff are friendly and so hard working. Celebrated my Dad’s 75th at the restaurant and nothing was too much for Baz and his team. Everyone enjoyed the meal and had a good time. Without doubt, one of the finest Indian restaurants in Liverpool. My standards are high as I’m from Kashmir :) Highly recommend.

We have been going to The Taj for a number of years now, taking a large group (30+ people) at least 4 times a year. We visited Saturday for our Christmas meal and as usual we were not disappointed. The staff looked after us extremely well for such a large group - always on hand for extra drink and food orders. The food was amazing as always - Chicken Sagwalla Balti Madras hot my personal favourite - and everyone in our group agreed. I can not fault anything about The Taj and looking forward to getting back there soon for more amazing food and service.

Relaxed atmosphere when we went in , not busy and called in no booking made. We had bindi okra, with chicken sagwallah, rice, and onion bhaji, filled naan shared as generous portions, and we were comfortably full ! I've been to a lot of curry houses in our city and others too, and this was one of the best.

Visited taj tonight for a family meal with a table booked for 15 3 had to leave before ordering due to unforeseen circumstances was given a stern abrupt talking to by staff member that they had turned bookings down to accommodate us although still a party of 12 and then proceeded to start separating tables only to have to put them back again. It was not full while we was there either was also told they needed table for 8pm we was done by 7pm. put a bad downer on whole atmosphere so much so one of our party asked would they like us to leave prior to ordering meal ! Been to taj on many occasions and always enjoyed the food and service but will not be returning after this evening so disappointed and a little bit humiliated have always gone to holdi in woolton in the past but choose taj as closer to home Back to holdi for us from now on as staff and service there is outstanding would not give the time or business to such a rude establishment and will be telling other family members to do the same in future

I love the cauliflower & coconut curry.

Vegetable saag balti with 1 chapati. Not enough spinach, the sauce was flavourless and very thick and acidic with tomato. Chapati arrived in a thin plastic bag which made it soggy. Overall a poor meal and I would not ok order from here again.

Expected more from this resturant. The food was pretty tastless, just hot and spicy . Could'nt taste the lamb as lamb. Just lumps of meat, they could have been anything to be honest. The sauce wasnt anything special. Very disappointed

We have gone back to this place a few times now and it does get better and better, all the staff are very welcoming and attentive. Food is well prepared and very tasty, although some spice level 3 curries are not as spicy as they could be. Does get very busy on the weekends so would be best to book but they do try and accommodate as fast as possible if you don't have the booking.

They might aswell put a sign outside that says, "WE DON'T SERVE BLACK PEOPLE." The food, service and overall experience was absolutely horrendous. I had booked a family dinner outing together with my partner and he had recommended the restaurant as he had been there many times and mentioned the food was really good, spacious and clean. However, the whole experience was a complete let down. Upon entering the restaurant, there were 3 staff members by the door. I greeted them all but was ignored by 2, the other one greeted me back and directed me to a table. The table was very small, I would have suggested the booth as the table was larger, however when I wanted to move they had brought the menu's and started taking our drink orders. I felt it was quite odd, they didn't let us settle in or show common courtesy. They were very pushy and rushing us and I was bewildered as to why because they we're not busy, the restaurant was fairly empty. My mother has a disability on her right hand and she kindly asked the waiter to help her move the tea cup to her left and he looked at her disapprovingly and almost resisted to touch the cup. A complete lack of empathy. When they took the food orders it was rushed too and their mannerisms appeared to be very cold. The waiter tossed the plate at the table and it nearly slid off and landed on my lap. He apologised but continued to pile the table with plates when he could clearly see it was full. My partner who is Caucasian picked up on their strange behaviour and pointed how he was treated with more respect when he was last there than now. He mentioned how one of the waiters only pretended to be nice because he was there. He also noticed that the other people in the restaurant were been treated better because of their skin colour. The food: 1. Handi Lamb - tough rather than tender 2. Mixed Biryani - very dry and the rice was undercooked 3. Tofu Shashlik - tasteless and tofu was hard to chew 4. Lamb Tikka & Garlic Naan - the garlic naan was fresh, but the lamb pieces were tough and very little I was in utter shock with the whole experience. I would rate this restaurant with 0 stars if that option was available. NEVER AGAIN!

Absolutely disgusted with this delivery, the restaurant phoned me to ask if I could get in touch to see where the driver was as the food was ready and just sitting there going cold, when the driver eventually arrived he then blamed the queue in the restaurant!!! Im appalled and it’s put me off using just eat again.

I just ordered veg samosas and they were soo dipped in oil and the samosas was leaking n broke so all oil were in it. I also asked for spicy food which non were and the fried mushrooms were tastless no chilli or salt basically all my food was blunt no taste lol 😫 really disappointed with the quality. Hope they make it what people asks for really!!!

The food was delicious and hot, also arrived just on time ,but I was little disappointed from my favourite saag panner as it was mixed with some other sauce and tasted little wired … then traditional saag panner. But overall experience was very good thank you for the delicious food and excellent delivery 🚚 would try to order again .

Ordered vegan tofu jalfrezi and received chicken jalfrezi. Really angry as my partner bit into it and he is vegan. This is unacceptable and we hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else in future

I ordered a prawn Korma and I think but not sure that the one that arrived was halloumi! It was in squares and chewy? Could not eat it - very disappointed. It did have prawn written on the lid but obviously not. I have not ordered from this company before, doubtful I will again

Some of the best Indian food that I have had in a long time. Service was attentive and friendly and food was fresh and delicious. All four of us dining had different dishes and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them and also the vegetarian options for one of our party. As a lover of spicy foods my Lamb Jalfrezi certainly gave me a run for my money but was excellent 🥵

Had a takeaway from here, not too bad. Chicken was a bit weird but might have just been me. Naan 10/10.
