This restaurant was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere is great with beautiful ambient lighting, no irritating music or distractions. The food was absolutely excellent, very delicious, very well made and the service superb. Cannot recommend it highly enough, I've already booked to go back again!

Visited for the first time. It is all tapas style foods (so no kids menu) so we ordered several different ones to share between the 4 of us. Some of the meals are not value for money at all like the lamb tava (see photo). So you pay around £20 for some of the tapas dishes which are too small and that’s why I have given them 4/5 stars. Other than that the service was excellent and loved the restaurant ambiance. Lovely staff - very helpful. Good toilet facilities. Clean. We liked most of the tapas dishes we ordered. Very unusual dishes. Nice bread but again small portions. Very small size soft drinks for the price. Would be back again to try the other dishes on the menu at some point in the future but it won’t be one of our weekly restaurants due to the price.

Haven’t visited Tabure before but it’s a real find in the High Street. A good welcome which is always a great start. We were a table of three and were shown to a table right in front of the entrance door, that was the only thing not to like about our visit. Saturday evening and it was very busy folk coming in waiting to be seated etc, made it a bit busy around our table and not as relaxing experience as could have been, but a small gripe. Everything was very good. Service was fine, I have a chilli allergy which is a bit frustrating to say the least for everyone but with the help of our server we navigated the menu and came up with a great selection of dishes. House dips with pitta, beef, mushroom and prawn dishes with a salad. Special shout out for the chocolate brownie, a real treat to have a dessert of a decent size, it was a Saturday night after all! Fair value for money as well, that’s a rare treat these days, we will be back.

What a complete disappointment. The food was absolutely shocking so we returned it to the kitchen and did not eat. This restaurant also thinks it ok to charge £29 for a bottle of Canti Prosecco which can be purchased in the supermarket for £6 but market it as something else on the menu. We were told by the staff that they have had complaints of a similar nature yet they continue to serve it! We really did expect more from such a restaurant but sadly they are clearly cutting corners which is evident.

The food here is STUNNING! Every dish we had a real winner! And the service is also superb. My favourite local place to eat.

Was recommended to eat here from a family member and it did not disappoint. From the deliciousness of the food to the friendly attentive staff (all of them), our whole evening was fantastic. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and as my wife recalled, it was like being in a genuine Turkish Taverna. The King Prawn Tava was for me the best dish I’ve ever eaten. The sauce was out of this world. Whilst the Seafood Şehriye & Feta was both delicious and light. Would highly recommend these two plates. It wasn’t cheap but value for money, up there with the best. When you get quality food, service and experience, this is definitively worth a visit.

Chicken Ballotine and Organic Lamb Fillet with delicious sides followed by Walnut Baklava were exceptional. Service combines warmth with professionalism; highly recommended.

Thursday evening. Big party of females making lots of noise, everybody else shouting at each other to be heard. The food was OK at best but £112 for two was a bit steep. The table next to us was served before us despite ordering after and also received complimentary liqueurs after the meal and we didn't. Anyone over 50 avoid, they don't want you there!!!

We’ve been coming to Tabure Berkhamsted and St. Albans for 6 years and it never fails to please. It’s an absolute delight every time! As a vegetarian, there’s ample choice and every dish is so well crafted, thoughtful and delicious. My particular favourites are the Fava Truffle Humus (pure genius), the Roasted Butternut Squash, Fattoush Salad & Nohut Guvec! Home cooking at its finest! Highly recommend Tabure not only for its fantastic food but sincere hospitality and ambience. The host (the owner’s sister) today, has been warm, welcoming and wonderful! The family’s love for food is clear to see and most certainly, the proof is quite literally in the pudding (Homemade Walnut Baklava & Clotted Cream - scrumptious!!!)

Food was great , first time here great venue, great staff ! Couldn’t ask for mor anything more. They even made cocktails for us that wasn’t even on the menu ! Authentic Turkish cuisine not like you usual indoor grill places that you usually go to ! Highly highly recommend

I have eaten Turkish food everywhere from London to Istanbul and this ranks at about the best i have enjoyed. Early table, first time visit. The owner's sister greeted us and looked after us, well, like we were family. Starter: best halloumi ever tasted. Marmalade quince jelly and harissa with a polenta crumb was the highlight. Mains: beef kofte was excellent but the family recipe that the mother cooked to get the father to propose was pulled lamb and i can see why he proposed Desserts: well, best baclawa ever said the other half and the pistachio creme brulee was sublime. Traditional Turkish coffee rounded up a terrific menu. I half expected to walk along the Riva river but instead i was back in Berkhamsted high street. Martin, your restaurant is a triumph.

I have attended a few birthday parties at this restaurant and everyone who lives in and around Berkhamstead tends to end up here. A great eating experience all round.

Overall very disappointed based on the whole experience, missing dishes from the menu and service. Staff were lovely but very stretched meaning it was difficult to order drinks so it all felt quite frantic. Therefore, the automatic 12.5 percent tip is unjustified and frankly arrogant. Given the limited menu we were disappointed one of the main and basic dishes was unavailable and on that basis I would be wary of coming here again. Although the “tapas” nature of the restaurant may be be charming to many I wouldn’t come here for a family meal again where you would want to eat together. To balance the negative the staff are nice and the individual dishes were good although to me the whole experience was very average and substantially overpriced particularly given the presumptious tip that gets added automatically.

Absolutely excellent food. It was all delicious. Love the fact they have local ale on the drinks menu! Hertfordshire is full of great restaurants but Tabure in St Albans, Harpenden and Berko are amongst the best!

The food was ok but felt some dishes were very overpriced - £11 for 3 dips and two pitta bread! It was difficult to know how much to order as we were encouraged to order sides with a meat and fish dish on top of meze, which was too much. Service to begin with was good but once we had all our food no one came over to check it was ok or ask if we wanted drinks for over an hour. Wouldn’t return.

If you are looking for somewhere special and different to eat I can totally recommend a visit here. I love the ambience in this restaurant. Subtle lighting, well laid out, great menu choices, full bar! I recommend two or three dishes per person, and then share! This way you get to enjoy a wide selection of delicious well presented plates of food. My top tip: Order the three dips selection (£11) rather than the individual dish option for each as this is ample to share between two or three guests. The butternut squash is awesome! Oh and the halloumi is also worth a try. Actually, go for it, it is all worth a try!!! My only comment: This restaurant is on the expensive side, but totally worth it.

We came here for an anniversary meal. The atmosphere was great, the staff were lovely - attentive but not overbearing - and the food was excellent. We had house dips to start (delicious) then a range from the menu. Standouts were the pulled lamb, the mackerel and the beetroot couscous. Couldn't fault it.

We’ve been here a few times now and it’s consistently good. The food is extremely tasty and always to a high standard. The small plates mean you get to try a variety of different dishes. As a vegetarian this is a brilliant restaurant - there are so many choices. Staff are always incredibly welcoming and attentive. There were lots of reassuring measures in place to ensure that social distancing was effective and staff were all wearing visors. There’s always a very warm atmosphere at Tabure. We had dinner for 4 people on Wednesday and the experience was amazing. We ordered a lot of different food for sharing which is the best option in this restaurant. Our favourite was aubergine (we loved it so much that we ordered second one after first one was finished) and prawns. Actually everything was delicious and exquisite, served on beautiful plates. The service was great, we felt well looked after. If you like fine dining, or fancy to impress your date- this is a place to come! Definitely coming back there, highly recommend!

We havent been for 18 months as we felt we'd tried most things on the menu. Decided to use the government discount and help boost the economy. Take your phones as they dont use menus at the moment, along with other Covid measures. The food was delicious as always. Sadly a few favourites were missing, ie the cod and kunefe are no longer on the menu, but the mackerel was really tasty. Very pricey, ie one stuffed courgette flower = £8.50, but if you're not on a budget and love great food you will love Tabure.

The dishes are all designed to be shared between two people and the waiting staff advise 2-3 per person. Great suggestion as they are generous portions. The staff were excellent and so was the food, really delicious and a great evening.

Management are so grateful for the support but the pleasure is all mine as it’s been a highlight of my week! I highly recommend the main tuna dish, just beautiful. We went here for the first time. First impressions were good. We were warmly welcomed and taken to our table. We were offered water and the menus. We then waited quite a time to order some drinks. Food was then a further wait. I believe they need a few more staff. All the staff were very helpful and polite. The food was very good and tasty. Maybe a bit to much salt on some. It would be good to have some traditional Turkish food too. You can’t beat a good mangal grill! Not sure I would go back. Pricing is a little bit on the high side for some dishes.

We went on a Thursday evening for a friends birthday. The menu had a great authentic Turkish selection and you could pretty much order anything from meat, food, vegetable and side dishes. The service was very good and the atmosphere nice and relaxed. Also loved the decoration and light shades on the ceiling. As there were six of us we managed to get a good selection of dishes between us as I found they suggest to order lots of small dishes between the table rather than order your own meal which works really well as you get a good variety and order a bit of everything , but I would find it harder to go with fewer people as the dishes can add up to be a little expensive. The food came out in stages as you order and if you want more of something they just bring it out . Will definitely go again.

This is not by any means your average Turkish restaurant ( nor are the prices but you get what you pay for) which can be a little too bland and predictable for my taste.We had some great dishes here and we will return.A minor whinge is the price of Efes beer at £7.50 for a 50 cl bottle.Will know better next time.

Having eaten at Tabure previously on a few occasions and having been thoroughly satisfied with the experience, we were looking forward to returning for a late lunch yesterday. We were disappointed--not as good as when we visited previously.

Another visit to one of my favourite restaurants for a family birthday. I love the ambience in here; lighting and decor is great. They had changed the menu slightly from my last visit, which was a welcomed surprise. The food was beautiful - my favourite is the butternut squash - and the service was excellent. If you can fit in a dessert try their creme brulee with Turkish delight.

A beautiful restaurant and a lovely menu – we thought we were in for a relaxing afternoon. Upon hindsight, a reflection of an arrogant management overly concerned with style over substance. I arrived at 12.30 for an early lunch with a friend. The manager was on the phone but indicated where I could sit. No other staff were visible. Knowing that we planned to eat the sharing plates, I asked for a booth but was told that these were only for larger tables; the two existing tables seated in booths were also parties of two. When this was pointed out to the waiter, he gave a rather evasive shrug and left me alone. Not a great start, I thought with a sigh.My friend arrived and we had a pleasant lunch; the food, surroundings and company were all delightful, but the service was neither efficient nor was it particularly warm. More tables arrived, but the restaurant was not full. Frustratingly, the waiter ended up adding the table beside to our existing table so that we had space for the dishes we ordered. It was tempting at that point to make a quip about the table sizes and the booths, but I resisted.At the end of our meal, as we were finishing, further tables of two arrived and both were seated in booths when they made their request to the very same waiter who had refused my earlier request. We asked for the bill and noticed that service had not been included. Petty as it sounds, we didn’t plan to tip, as the service had not been impressive, and this was the most passive way of making this known. When the manager asked about our meal, I mentioned that the experience had been okay, but it was frustrating not to have a request fulfilled when we had heard subsequent customers being accommodated. Said manager apologised, and assured us that next time we would have our booth. As we left, we noticed with a pinch of resigned sangfroid that service had been added to our split bill; this seemed to summarise the overall hubris of Tabure.

We'd heard good things about this restaurant but felt let down. We were greeted by ' find your own table' and left to self-select. When we did find one, were told that it was for staff ? We had the set lunch for £15 which was OK but not that exciting. The main consisted of 4 thin, spicy sausages with coucous which was bland but filling. Service was OK except for the initial greet. Overall unexcited by this restaurant and probbaly would not return.

I went to Tabure recently on a sunday night with 2 friends. We all thought that the food was delicious. The service was also excellent. We were also impressed that the lamb that we had was organic. We look forward to trying other things from the menu.

Booked this last minute on a Wednesday evening and what a find! Very slick and good looking restaurant on Berkhamsted High Street. Friendly and helpful staff.Was initially dubious about Turkish / Middle Eastern food, what do I know! The menu is available online on their website and had sounded quite basic (being a vegetarian). I couldn’t have been more wrong - simple food done well is often the most amazing and this really was incredible food.We opted, on the advice of the menu, to go for four Meze plates and also picked a Meat and a Vegetable dish. The waitress advised some bread to go with the chilli dip and also commented this would be plenty of food - luckily we were both hungry.This is the equivalent of tapas dishes, they came out as and when they were ready along with the additional pitta bread we’d ordered. Food was served quickly, and even on a weekday evening it was fairly busy. Every single mouthful was absolutely delicious! To mop up the juices we ordered one more pitta and all of it was washed down with a lovely bottle of house red, from Turkey obviously.The best meal I’ve had in a long time with many new and interesting flavours. It’s not cheap, with most Mezes being around £6 or £8 per dish; but happy to pay that when it’s not something I would or could make at home and it’s a bit different. Dishes as above, with wine and a few little extras came in at about £80 for two people. Well worth it. A definite treat for vegetarians and vegans with lots of suitable and deliciously different dishes!

Second visit excellent both times for both vegetarians and carnivores. Mixed dips to start generous portions for sharing followed up with merguez and crab tart. All good though accompanying potatoes could have been crispier. Service friendly and Reasonably efficient

We went as a group of eight, so we sampled a lot of different dishes. Some were excellent, all the others were very, very good. The smoky Baba Ganoush and the köfte were stand out. Very nice wine. Service was superb with very friendly waiters and a relaxed atmosphere. Classy place! Thanks - I really enjoyed our visit.

Just had the most fantastic meal at Tabure Berkhamsted. We ate here once years ago and remembered it was very good, but today we were completely blown away by the quality of the food, the standard of service and the general excellence of the ambience and cleanliness throughout the restaurant. Absolutely amazing food (miles better than what you actually get in Turkey itself!), super quick and very friendly service; not cheap but worth every penny. I wish our waitress had a name tag so we could mention her specifically because she was so good. Thank you to the whole team! Every member of staff we walked past on the way out said goodbye to us as well. Best restaurant in Berkhamsted by miles!

It was my birthday, my husband mentioned it, and they brought me a glass of sparkling, which was lovely (they did the same last year). I find the food very interesting, a twist on the traditional: all the expected offerings, with fascinating new flavours and combinations. The service was charming.

Visited here with my other half, it was very nice food, a bit pricey but that’s the nature of meze, all the dishes add up before you realise! The meat dishes I had were very nice, there’s a lot for your money on the meat dishes, so don’t over order! A lot of veggie options and my girlfriend was very happy with them. The cutlery and glasses weren’t very clean but stole some from the adjacent table which seemed cleaner! Aha desserts were amazing (see attached) although we were bursting at the seams by the end!

Visited Tabure for the first time last night and loved it. Fabulous menu, interesting, very high quality food, absolutely delicious. We drank some very quaffable Lebanese red and will be back!

We had a delicious meal with several tapas style starters followed by a rump steak shish. Can also highly recommend the white Rioja. The service was excellent it was a shame though we were asked to leave our table for another sitting.

My wife and I have visited Tabure a few times in the past 6 months and it has been spot on every time! The food is incredible (mushrooms and whipped feta is a particular favourite), wine, beer and service is just as good! The atmosphere is great, really nice decor, honestly no complaints whatsoever. It's a must when eating out in Berko!

We went on a busy Saturday in the summer. Food is small plate style but you are given advice on how much to order which was helpful. The dishes were a bit different from traditional Turkish restaurant and cooked to a high standard. Restaurant was busy when we went and you do sit quite close to neighbouring tables.

Went here with friends from abroad last night. The staff were initially friendly and the food was great until I found a hair on one of the prawns. We didnt make a fuss and continued with our food until we were asked at the end of the meal how it was. My friend said in a friendly, casual way that it was lovely apart from the hair that we had found. The person who cleared our plates, who I believe was the manager, made no comment at all. 10 minutes later we were presented with the bill with no offer of pudding coffee etc. It became clear that the comment, which was true, was not appreciated and that we should leave. We finished our drink at the bar, paid the bill and left. Hygience and customer service a little disappointing.

Had a nice enough meal at this restaurant, but will not be returning as clearly simple hygiene rules are not being observed! At about 22.30h, when the staff wanted to let us know that it is time to leave the restaurant, the staff started to place the chairs on top of the already set tables! Right next to plates, cutlery, glasses and napkins! Yummy! Besides the hygiene issue, I regard this as pretty rude behaviour.

Went here with friends and it was not my first choice. I'm so pleased I did though. The restaurant was modern and the waitress was really friendly. She explained the menu and how many dishes were best for our table. The food was so flavoursome and every dish was lovely. Great meal.

Had a fantastic meal sat at the ‘Chef’s Table’ (bar stalls in front of the kitchen) for a perfect date night. Staff were really nice and it was great to have the chef chat with us too. The food was right up there, the next selection especially. Obviously there’s plenty of grill options so the meat & fish were popular, but we had so many choices as veggies too. The Artichokes on Celeriac purée a must as well as the sautéed mushrooms with truffle feta. It was busy for a reason and we’d not hesitate to go back.

My friends recommended that we try this restaurant during the week as it is easier to book a table than on a Friday and Saturday. Food choices excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Quite terrible attitude but the food was excellent. We will never go again though. It is amazing how they could possibly believe that their service is anywhere near average.

Popped in for lunch as we didn't know Berko had a Turkish restaurant. Lovely warm welcome, and nicely decorated.We opted for the 3 course lunch menu which was absolutely delightful. Good portions and packed with sublime flavour. Baklava with clotted cream is a must!Will definitely return for an evening meal

Decided to meet friends for lunch in Tabure. We had had the set lunch a few months back and loved the flavours and £19 for 3 courses was such good value. This visit yesterday did not disappoint. Our friends loved the food and the waitress (for identification purposes - she said she was from Poland) was friendly, helpful and very attentive. Wonderful food. We will definitely be returning again and again. Unfortunately we were chatting and I forgot to take photos of the beautifully presented food.
