Szechuan in Aberdeenshire

Saw a couple of reviews on here and wondered if they were talking about the right takeaway! Have used for many years and doubt if we’ve ever had a bad meal. I have no reservations in recommending Szechuan - just away to order now!

We have a meal from here at least once a month and although it's never the greatest, it's our nearest takeaway. We put in our order by phone at 1730, to pick up at 1805. Arrived at 1805 only to be told that it would be another 10-15 mins, which kind of defeats the purpose of phoning! Took another 25 mins until it was actually ready. This in itself was bad enough, but I got it home and the crispy aromatic duck was so overcooked that it was inedible & had no taste at all. For them to take that amount of time & dish up that absolutely terrible meal was absolutely astounding. I fed it to the dogs. They even had a hard time chewing it!!

Excellent carry out, never had a bad meal from this place. Staff are excellent. What more can you say.

Got a takeaway last week for the first time from here after some recommendations. Order sweet and sour chicken which was really go also ordered fried rice and chips they put them both into one container and poured gravy over them and made everything sogie

Ordered 2 meals, one with rice, one with noodles. Both rice and noodles tasted like they were reheated from day before. When carton was emptied onto plate there was big bits stuck together. Main 1 was supposed to be hot with garlic…was filled with pineapple, meal 2 was supposed to be Kung po…..was filled with pineapple. Interesting! Prawn crackers tasted like they were from day before too.

This used to be my favourite Chinese takeaway but all good things come to an end. Went there the other night and made my usual order but was left bitterly disappointed. When I opened up my container my initial reaction was,”what the …. Is that? It was supposed to be special fried rice but looked nothing like the special fried rice I knew and loved.The portion was small and it looked dry and unappetising, it tasted just as bad, the meat on top was over cooked , the sauce bland and there were no prawns . The love of my life’s noodle dish wasn’t much better with most of her meat being consigned to the bin to join a bag of over cooked dry chips . I don’t know what went wrong on this occasion, maybe there’s a new cook or new owners, but I do know I won’t be going back to find out

Salt & pepper chips £3.50, and literally just chips with salt & red salt on them- no geen peppers or sliced chillies/onions....

Great staff and great food, which is why its always full of customers. Lady behind the counter was very attentive to good customer service. Free prawn crackers. Other options in westhill are Yan, chippy and Pizza. Chippy is terrible never tried the Pizza shop. Yan on numerous occasions, but exspencive. So the Szechuan for me best in town.

Went to collect, ready really quickly, food still very hot when arrived home! Fresh and great tasting food

We ordered a takeaway of chicken chow mien, cashew nut chicken (it seemed to be the same bland sauce in both dishes) and chilli shredded beef which was okay but not enough sauce.

I had a takeaway from here at the weekend. I went for the shredded chilli beef and boiled rice. The food was delicious. The bill came to just over £7 which was good value. The lady serving on the till was helpful. I will definitely be back again soon and I would recommend this place to others.

I recently visited this Chinese takeaway and ordered the set meal for 4. I wasn't sure what to expect, as some of the takeaways in Aberdeen and Shire can be a little bit hit or miss. I can honestly say this one's a huge HIT! The food was excellent. Every dish was piping hot, full of taste, and plenty of it. The set meal for 4, could easily have fed 6-7 hungry adults! For 2 adults and 3 fairly hungry kids, we got 2 meals out of it. The price for the set meal was excellent, especially considering the volume of food received. I really am struggling to fault the food. Maybe the batter around the kind prawn starters was a bit on the thick side, but that's just my personal preference. There was nothing wrong with it really. I would say that the appearance of the shop itself, could do with a bit of a spruce up. From the outside, there are more appealing takeaway shops on offer. The waiting area could do with being a bit more comfortable, but I didn't wait there, so it didn't really affect me. had I not read the reviews, the general appearance of the shop might've put me off a little. However, the quality of the food more than made up for the appearance of the shop!! One other word of caution - they don't take credit/debit cards, so makesure you have cash. I didn't have any, but there's a bank machine just round the corner. The lady serving was great - she took my order without issue and I paid when I picked up the oder instead. Being such a large order, she might've insisted I pay first before she made the food, so it a nice touch that she trusted me to come back again. Overall, would I go back there again? The answer is a resounding YES! I look forward to trying some other dishes off the menu.

Very tasty Chinese, staying locally so got it delivered. Fast service and the food was hot! Shredded chilli chicken was hot! Sweet and sour chicken was delious. Highly recommend

Popped in for a quick eat for the family. Got chicken fried rice, 2 x egg fried rice, chicken in batter, noodles, 2 x chips and curry sauce all for under £30. The food was hot and very tasty too. Staff were polite and helpful. Worth a visit.

I travel all over England and as a builder working away! Takeaways are my main staple diet 🙈 but I was very pleasantly surprised after reading some of the bad reviews on this site! The food was hot and tasty, I ordered over the phone making sure I got what I wanted and the staff were very helpful! I ordered chicken wings “salt/pepper “ for starters and chicken chow-mein with gravy! And their was plenty of nice fresh chicken Brest meat in the chow-mein and nice fresh noodles on the bottom of the tray :) the chicken wings were nice full wings and nice fresh chicken too as some places tend to be dry old meat!! Not this place.... yummy I’ll definitely be in again soon. Thank you Szechuan 👍

I had a take-away from here last night. Shredded chilli beef and boiled rice. It was delicious. Less than £7. Staff were friendly. Will definitely eat from here again.

Been going here for a couple years now for my chinese takeaways; extensive menu, at competitive prices, and one of the few places that doesn't charge extortionate amounts for rice additions. Would reccommend wholeheartedly!
