Young lad on counter was first class, very considerate to the customers. Service with a smile.

I'm not one for reviews, but this takeaway was particularly bad. We bought 3 haddock suppers and every one was over cooked and the fish had shrivelled up (see pick). Tasted bad. I did message them with the complaint but heard nothing back. Fish isn't cheap, so the least they can do is a little quality control. Will never re-visit.

Fish batter burnt. Shop smells of sour burnt batter.

Food is mediocre at best, chips always soggy, batter thick and undercooked. Orders often take over an hour to arrive, last night it took two hours, food ordered at 4, did not arrive till 6. If you go in, lady at counter is grumpy and unhelpful. If you order online and they get the order wrong, they won't pick up the phone to amend. Website will charge you delivery even if you choose to collect.

Hit or miss, sometimes good, sometimes bad

Lovely servers Fresh tasted fresh wasn’t overdone it was just spot on, Chips was lovely and soft in the inside and nice and crispy on the outside Curry sauce was perfect wasn’t too spicy however wasn’t too mild and didn’t have a bitter taste like some chippys. Evenly salted and nominated with good quantity not under not over done. Two boy servers were super friendly you could tell one was new however learning quick and done the best to his ability. Waiting time was under 4 minutes

Quick service reasonably priced parking a little difficult but would use again no problem

Read one or two reviews which kind off put us off trying it out but we have to say our experience was very positive. We ordered three jumbo haddock suppers the fish was freshly cooked in front of us as were the chips the gentleman behind the fryer was patient with our inexperienced dithering and the two young assistants were friendly and entertaining both the fish and the chips were perfectly cooked and really did taste a treat as did the mushy peas and curry sauce. All in all a very positive experience and one we intend to repeat. Many thanks to the staff for their success.

Food was ok. I had a chicken burger for my supper. It had some bad bits, but it was ok except for that. I’ve been to this chip shop before, and I had the same food. I had the same problem last time, but I thought it improved this time. Service was great, though! Lovely, kind cooks and fast service. I sat in a park near the chip shop inside my Campervan and ate my food there, so I don’t really have any comment on the atmosphere. Not quite sure if I would recommend.

The Ashvale can be hit or miss, sometimes the fish and batter can be soggy and undercooked. The chips are almost always pale and underdone. The nearby Cowshed does better, more reliable fish and chips.

After a lovely day touring Royal Deeside we heading to Banchory for something for tea. We ordered 2 standard fish suppers and the price was no different from any other chip shop at the moment. The shop was clean, had a varied menu and the staff were all friendly & polite. Portion sizes were fine. Chips were nice and dry. Unfortunately the main event was disappointing. The haddock had no taste at all and the batter was greasy and had a strange after taste. Would we try it again…maybe but I think if we were in Banchory again we might just go somewhere else.

Currently here on our holiday and decided to go here as we fancied fish and chips. As soon as we entered, the staff were extremely welcoming and took our order immediately. The food we ordered was exceptional- some of the best fish we have ever eaten, so fresh and cooked to order! We enjoyed it so much that we returned again today and the experience was as incredible as the first, they were keen to speak to us about the menu and what they offered here. A great experience with incredible food! Hope to return here again one day! Definitely a must go.

The guy who was frying needs to learn how to make batter, thick raw uncooked not good ,I'll come in and show him how to make a decent batter.

Ordered a fish supper and onion rings , soggy batter undercooked chips and undercooked greasy onion rings , a waste of £18, Pathetic .

Running late coming back from a break Decided to have fish and chips wells white pudding supper the one on the main road was closed so we climbed up the hill to the ashvale the lady was friendly and helpful fried our tea freshly we took it down to the park and had it there it was great just like the old style chippers will certainly go there again if we're passing through

Stale tasteless haddock, thick doughy batter, pale undercooked chips. Service was pleasant but no excuse for a sub par chippy. Will avoid in future.

Love Ashvale normally. The food is good. I do not rate the customer service. The older lady in the shop is snippy and rude and very difficult to speak to. I wouldn't bother using the app either. Having pre-ordered my food and being made to wait 30 mins for pick up time on the app, I then had to wait a further 20 mins in the queue to pick up my food that I had already ordered. In short, good food, terrible service.

Big fan of Ashvale. However tonight the fish batter was thick and doughy. The portions were fantastic and I loved the chips. Hope a one off, staff were great, quick, pleasant, excellent service, but oh that batter.......!!!!!

Mediocre fish and chips fish cake flat and well done not at all appetizing phoned order and it was ready n 10 minutes admittedly I was longer than the 10 minutes it was in the hot cabinet

Food is good, staff very polite

Once again, went to the Ashvale for a chippy tea. Order was taken politely, had to wait as there were a few in the queue, but no problem. On to home and the Jumbo haddock was superb, flaky & tasty. The chips also, done to perfection, even got some of the crispy ones in it! Steak pie was also enjoyed, tasty, piping hot and nice crust.

3 of us went in and were completely ignored for ages so we left. A simple 'we will be with you in a minute' would have got them our orders.

We turned up at our given time but the order wasn't ready. There was no clear instructions as to where to stand if you were collecting an order, or if you were placing an order. Everyone had to sort it out by talking to each other. We waited for around 20 minutes outside and were pretty cold by this point. I think they were maybe short-staffed that night. When we got the food, it was just ok. Probably won't go back to this branch; the Great Western Road one in Aberdeen is much better.

Not worth writing home about to be honest. Fish was fresh but let down by the batter. Nobody likes thick doughy batter, thin and crispy is the way.

Ordered a take away on a Friday night,fish and chips were cold as was the smoked sausage ,the chips were awful and a three pound delivery for less than a mile away,won't be rushing for another order.

Decent consistent food. Staff are always pleasant and helpful.

Really good and friendly service

Just had a take-away here as our usual fish and chip shop is closed on a Tuesday. It was pretty poor overall. There was no sanitiser in sight for customers and no controls on how many people in the shop at one time. The fish was not fresh, it had that smell about it as soon as you cut into it. The chips were okay. Having just eaten it we both felt we wish we had not bothered. Would not recommend it.

Even better than I remember from last year. So tasty.

El mejor Fish and chips que probé en mi viaje a Escocia. Es un pequeño local que hacen comida para llevar, pero vale la pena pedirte tu ración de fish and chips e irte a un parque a comértelo. El pescado buenísimo, y las patatas no son congeladas.

A great hidden gem in Banchory. Freshly cooked haddock and chips were delicious along with a mince pie. And great value at lunch time. Well worth a visit.

I would definitely go back if I'm in the area. Fish supper was very tasty. Fish was moist and fresh.

Just had a breaded haddock supper and fish was not fresh. The chips had been reheaded and were dark brown and greasy. This chipper used to be amazing but now it's very poor. Best avoided until they can up their game. There's no excuse for unfresh fish in the NE of Scotland.

Worst chip shop in Aberdeenshire

Beautiful fish and chips, piping hot. Lovely homemade Tartar Sauce. Extensive menu. Very helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.

Ashvale’s reputation maintained by this small fish and chip shop. Staff friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable.

So disappointing to find an Ashvale with such low standards, been to visit on two occasions now & the food was overcooked both times, there won't be a third time.

King rib was nice and tasty. The chips where fresh and tasty. I wish they gave out free brown sauce like in Edinburgh. Juice selection was okay as well. Liked my pickled egg too.

After having a not so good carry out from here, we decided to give it another try recently. Fish & chips were excellent, thanks. However, the young servers need to be coached in customer service.

Sublime service, food and staff. Fish freshly cooked and served by cheerful staff in a quick time frame. Food is to die for and the chips are fluffy, fresh and filling. Isn't a better chipper in Scotland!

We had 2 Fish Supper meals, Curry Sauce, Gravy & 2 Bottles of Juice. £18 and worth every penny. Fish cooked perfectly & the Chips were great. Woman who served us was a lovely lady. Would definitely recommend & am surprised at some of the other reviews based on my own experience this evening.

Nos quedamos sin trabajo durante el reemplazo de una cocina cocina y decidimos coger un pedido desde aquí. Yo opté por los filetes de pollo con papas fritas. Las patatas fritas eran pálidos y correosos pero el pollo estaba un poco mejor. Que piezas cortadas y forma (no), el revestimiento empanadas podría haber sido más nítida y había una falta de aderezos. La comida no era barato y no creo que volveremos

Soy un ordinario patrono de la Ashvale restaurante en Aberdeen, que es de primera clase, pero el chipper Banchory ashvale" no es un parche. Comida mal cocinada (creo que depende de quién es freír aunque, para ser justos) y caro para lo que es. No hay mucha variedad en Banchory tristemente, así que la gente probablemente tolerar.

No parking and everything is overcooked, complete waste of money.

El pescado era pelo de Flip Flop gandi y el menu no media ningún sentido. King Daddy, Chip Bistec Rib o Cualquiera Red pudding? No, no salchichas unbattered kebabs.Pedimos Rock rodaballo, se lo acabaron (esto es a las 6:15 pm y está abierto hasta las 11:30 pm). Se acabó el único limón y skate también. Sólo pescado era abadejo y tenga en mente, Aberdeen es sólo por la carretera y en la costa.Pedidos para colección y tenían fuera de la salsa curry guisantes blandos y. Obviamente personal que no cerebral, siga las instrucciones básicas de lectura a través de una orden.Crap chips, pescado seco, pero guisantes blandos estaban bien.Si otra empresa pone incluso un punto mejor que este, este seguramente cerca si chippy no su juego. Horrible!

The fish and chips were amazingly good, freshly cooked, and the best I have tasted ever. Batter was crisp and non greasy or soggy, and the chips were dry and crisp. Would highly recommend it. The staff were lovely, and very polite, and we ate outside in the car, and because it was so delicious i popped back into the shop to compliment them on such a tasty meal and good service.

The fish is good but beware that you only get half a fish unless you order a jumbo.. which seems a bit much.It's all cooked to order usually and good however..
