Real Tandoori in Aberdeenshire

Ordered Chicken Madras and Mushroom Pilau Rice with mixed Pakoras to start. £25. Had better microwave meals from the supermarket. Quite tasteless for a Madras and only 6 small pieces of chicken. Rice contained and leaked water as if microwaved from frozen. The Pakoras were hiding under some lettuce and over cooked.

Asked for 1 Large Doner Kebab with salad, garlic and chilli sauces, also chips with Korma Sauce. Doner Kebab was dry as there was no salad or sauces with it and the chips had pieces of tandoori chicken over the top of them with little sauce. Bad enough to have one wrong dish, but two?! Wouldn’t recommend them and we won’t be back.

Last night (5th August) I spent £46.20 on two curries and accompanying rice/bread/sundries. The second order in a month. The delivery took an hour and a half to arrive. I had tried to phone the restaurant but it was not taking calls. I can honestly say that the Lamb Bhoona was the worst curry that I have ever had. It was tough, grizzly and very tough. In fact, it was Inedible.

Just left shop for second time after someone adding sauce that my son is badly allergic to just aswell I had his epypen to take him out of th turn he was about to take so after telling the fella this and asking where my missing chips is he said he done me a favour by letting me keep a kebab that near injured my son and the cost of fuel he still charge me for the chips that were frozen while waiting on rest of order people please avoid at all costs

Portion sizes are terrible! The Boxes are smaller than before! Prices don't portray the portions. My grilled chicken kebab was tasty but I was still hungry after this allegedly large kebab. The pitta bread was the vast majority of the box content. The box felt empty in weight when handed to me in the shop and it pretty much was on inspection. Not the experience expected.

4th time using these guys. They do honestly good food, with the right balance of spices. Better than most similar places in the area around NE Scotland. They're not perfect by any means, but the foods good. Might need to up their rice game a bit tho ;) I'll use them every time I'm in the area :-) Cheers for the food, absolutely delicious!

So spent nearly £60 on Indian food. Arrive in 1hr when told 30mins. Wrong rice, prawns were tiny, overcooked and like rubber, completely inedible. Rang up to complain and was accused of eating the meal and then complaining, accused of trying to pull a fast one. Offered to show them the food but guy still rude and argumentative. Told them I would never use their takeaway again and all I was offered was a replacement next time. Refused any refund. Worst food, at ridiculous prices, even my dog turned it's nose up at what I wouldn't eat. Absolute rip-off merchants.

Well that was unexpected. The best balti I've had in years. Never tried this place before and ordered out to our remote cottage. Unpeeled the tub and I could see it. A garlicky, oily, delicious tomato based curry sauce filled full of chicken. I'm not joking, this was balti perfection. Every single mouthful was an absolute delight, I had asked them to make it Madras heat and guess what? Good n spicy. I've about a quarter left. Which is depressing, as it means I'll have none for breakfast. Will I be ordering this again? You bet! Hell yah. Oh, the naan bread? Blood delicious. Cheers guys, won't be my first time. 😊

Ordered a half pound Hawian burger and large cheesy chip. The burger had only cheese and onion in it - not a Hawian burger then . The large cheesy chip had no cheese . It was a walk in order and they wernt busy . The burger was tasty and the chips were ok just not what i ordered. Should maybe rename the place Pot luck.

Just had a lamb pasanda and peshawari nan. I'd given up on indian takeaways a bit as im usually disappointed in one thing of another. But I just literally had melt in ur mouth lamb in a gorgeous pasanda sauce. Not just sweet but lovely gentle spices coming through. Delivery was really fast and ordered it online. I'll definitely be using this place again!!! Really enjoyed. I've never had such tender lamb from a takeaway. I could cut it with my spoon. Very happy! Thank you

I'm a regular customer here but not anymore, it's a good takeaway but too many times have I ordered food and waited for over an hour for it to be delivered to the point where I have had to go to the shop and get it myself then wait 15-20 mins while they cook it. Normally I'm not one to complain but when I've had to wait over an hour and a half for just 1 pizza for it then to not be cooked in the centre I draw the line. I WILL NOT BE GOING HERE AGAIN!!

Peri peri chips were just chips with a seasoning mix thrown right in the middle. Pizza was great until we found a couple black hairs in it.

I wanted to pleasenty spend my Thursday with my entire family ,I thought to myself that I won't cook. I placed an order for 2 special kebabs (hoping it would be large and taste nice and they actually were...)1 large doner with extra nan - everything was okay and it tasted nice. At the end I asked for *large chicken kebab with salad on the side and no bread, and they still gave me bread. That was pretty much ignoring the fact that i asked multiple times and the fact that i could I be allergic to it... also, I wanted to know if this is supposedly a large portion size (picture below )... I have phoned and checked and was reassured by staff that I got what I have paid for. Now wondering how a small portion would look like.

Driving past I noticed the shop. Was hungry wasn’t sure what to get soo to be safe ordered a cheese pizza. The owner, had made the pizza not k owing it was for me then said wait I’ll make you another one this is boring. Soo i reluctantly accepted his offer. The pizza was nice the donor meat was nice overall very happy with service and food. Came from Birmingham soo was well happy to get a great meal.

Horrible food. Worst I've ever had. Don't waste your money. Nazma so much better. Please never go there. You will be disappointed with the food.

Delievery is Beyond a joke waited over an hour for my food and when I called they said it was just finished being prepared, I put my order in just before 5:40pm, this isn't the first time either, but last time the owner called me and asked me to take my review down as it was unfair to state that the food was cold and the portions for certain things on the menu being rediculacely small or missing ingredients, my partner ordered a burger the other night and waited over an hour for it aswell, BUT I WILL NOT be removing this review this time round, in future I'm just going to go to lighthouse atleast they delivery is on time, food is always hot when dropped off and have everything u ask for with all the ingredients....

We've had king special on Naan. Nicely composed meats and salads, really fresh too. A star less for the naan. I think the cheff will know why... and BTW... Good value and mega portion. :)

Had the grilled chicken kebab tonight and it was AMAZING. comes in a massive tray that would easily feed 2. (or in my case, myself) 😉. Wife had the chadani, a lovely curry, very much like a sweet Korma, but with just the right amount of spice. We also had the peshwari naan, that was out of this world. Ordered and delivered within 30 mins. If you haven't already tried this place, please do so very soon. I promise you won't be disappointed 👍🍢🍛

The overall place was clean and tidy and the food was delicious too. I recommend all to must visit and try once.

Ordered 2 Naan kebabs for me and my birthday Mrs to enjoy on a Wednesday. Normally its spot on but the naan tasted old like it was from weekend. Donner meat was fine just the naan wasn't up to usual standards. I appreciate it's mid week but maybe charge less if the food is going to be at a lower standard. Pretty sure I was 8 to 9 pound for each kebab.

Was in on sunday. Fancied a curry after a long day. Came in the door and was met by rotating computer screens in place of any paper menus, which conveniently change before you can read them and a staff member who seemed to go through the entire till to find the first item on the menu. Not a great start. And the curry was pretty awful. Not much meat not much to the sauce. Just 6 cubes of dry chicken and onion. And to make things worse I have been sh*itting water for the past 3 days. I have never eaten here before and I certainly will not be back.

We visited this establishment for the first time on the evening of Sunday 8th Aug 2021. Never again! The facade looks clean and welcoming enough on one of Banff's main streets. We parked just outside the entrance. The new member of staff tried his best, but had no knowledge (when asked) about certain products/meals. My order was a small chicken tikka kebab, with salad. No sauce was offered. Our takeaway meals arrived quite quickly. When we opened our meals (overlooking Banff beach) we were shocked! Whoever produced these meals couldn't be bothered. My wafer thin kebab was laid flat with the chicken lumps placed on top of it (chicken not even placed within the kebab). The kebab couldn't support the weight of the chicken and fragmented all over the place. There was no salad, or any kind of sauce. Dry and tasteless. No napkins = a right mess! My wife's meal was equally as rank! Thankfully I ordered a small kebab, but at just under £5 it was a complete rip off. Absolutely "heaving"!

Me and my friend were having a sleepover.and we order pizza and a small kabab and chips at 11:00 and we waited and waited still no sign at all of the car we were waiting in my livingroom for around 2 hours so we called the place and asked how long it would be and the delivery was apparently on the way so we waited another half hour still no sign so we went into my bedroom and waited another half hour so we called again and it said closed!!! On the website I spent 18 pounds and it didn’t appear it said on the website in black and white it closed at 2am!!! It’s a disgrace it’s the next morning now still no sign!!! Honestly so annoyed.DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Decent enough food, nothing exceptional. Portion size was good and hot, not the tastiest pizza I've ever had, but good enough. Pakora were a bit tasteless and dry.

Chicken korma had no taste peshqury bread disgusting

Ordered byriani. It was boiled rice with cumin seeds and unseasoned boiled chicken. If you want authentic indian food do not order here.

Ordered today (Sunday) a few minutes after opening time. Answered immediately, friendly and helpful on the phone. Was told 45 minutes on the phone. 44 minutes, driver was knocking on the door. Nice to see mask and glove safety measures in place. Accurate order, good tasty food which arrived hot and on time, friendly phone and delivery staff. Good value. Would happily order again.

My partner and I have not long moved up north and have visited very regularly. We have always found the food to be nice and delivery on time. However, a few weeks ago we were very disappointed with the customer service that we received. We placed an order just before 7pm and the food did not arrive until 9:20. After an hour and a half when our food did not arrive we tried calling the restaurant in case it had been forgotten. We were trying the phone lines and Facebook messenger for over 45 minutes with no answer or reply. By this time my partner had started to cook something else for us as it was getting late and the young children were hungry. The food finally arrived at twenty past 9 and albeit was cold. Real Tandoori apologised the following day via Facebook messenger but didn’t seem too bothered by the inconvenience it has caused us all. After looking at some of the reviews it seems some people in the same position with the service. I won’t be back!

I've always been wary of takeaways that offer many different types of cuisines, considering them to be jack of all trades, master of none. However, after a year of living locally and with having to self-isolate due to Coronavirus I thought I'd give them a whirl. I ordered poppadoms, spiced onions and mango chutney along with a lamb sassi and a garlic naan. The food arrived 40 mins after the requested delivery time bit was well worth the wait. The lamb sassi was so very tasty, nice and hot and spicy with a lovely sour edge. Real Tandoori also heeded my request for no coriander which makes a welcome change. The portion was very generous, and was more than enough for me. If my food had arrived on time, I'd have given them 5 stars. However, I really enjoyed the food and will definitely order from them again.

Extremely disappointing. Twice in a row had diorhea afterwards. Use Romq instead. Much nicer, much cleaner and friendlier

After a 13-hour journey from Nottingham we didn’t know what to eat but the wife had spotted this place as we drove through the town. We had a 10” meat feast pizza, 10” cheesy garlic pizza bread and chips. The food was excellent and very tasty. It’s very clean inside and the guys are brilliant and give excellent customer service. They also do delivery and are open late. The menu is pretty extensive too.

The burgers we had were incredibly tasty, really very good. A friend had recommended the supreme burger so we had them and ordered without a menu. Unfortunately later found out a supreme burger is supposed to come with salad and a choice of relish. Which we had neither and were offered neither when ordering. Going by the menu we were charged for a supreme burger but were given cheese burgers. Annoying! Will update review if our next visit improves. Have updated review to 5 stars due to brilliant customer service in reply! Thank you :)

I’ve tried all takeaways in Macduff/Banff over the last couple years, including this one (Real Tandoori). I’ve always had kebabs, chips, pizza etc. This time around I tried some Indian items. 1x Tandoori Chicken Chasni 1x Cheese Naan 1x Popadom Chicken dish was 10/10. Served in an odd container though, more of a Chinese style plastic container than tin foil/paper lid. Naan HUGE! Although not enough cheese. Service ok. Not better than ok. Note; there’s some idiot called AndyFroh reviewed this place 4 times. Disturbed

Probably the worst biryani I've ever had,over cooked rice bland sauce, and four pieces of dry chicken. Nothing of flavour in sight, however my family had a pizza and burger which they said was good.

I have been working in the local area staying round the corner just called in on the off chance as I passed on way back to hotel. Was recommended by what I assume to be the manager, very very friendly he recommended and to give the mixed bursa a go. Never tried anything like it was amazing and will definitely be returning when I am in the area again! Top job guys recommend to anyone. Thanks again!

My husband and I have eaten at the Real Tandoori. The pre- cinema food we ordered from Real Tandoori was palatable. We ordered Butter Masala, Fish, and Biryani. The food was fresh and piping hot, filled with flavours. Good portion sizes and savory. Great job guys. We shall order again.

Complained as the tikka masala had absolutely no flavour, it's an orange/pink odd korma basically.. Manager offered a refund.. then rang back 5 minutes later to state the "locals" like no flavour and he admitted to using food colouring in the dishes.. that's terrible! A bland coloured tikka masala, Tesco micromeals have more flavour! The colour of the spices alone should colour the sauce, not E numbers & dye! He then stated he "can cook authentic".. well do it.. beware!

Always a great feed, great taste, and for something different try the fish supper, best we have had in long time. Hope my discount code is on the post. Cheers guys......

Trying to order over the phone is an adventure with this place. I was hung up on by a young girl who was extremely rude. Our food arrived and my ham pizza was joined by unwanted pineapple. The kebab meet is superb but the rest of my order was poor to say the least

Spotted a deal on their website and the wife was hungry so we snapped it up. Two 10 inch pizzas, donner kebab, chips and two tins of juice £15. What a deal that is. The food was top quality

Been here several times and no complaint until last visit.we decided on delivery for our order and was disappointed that partners kebab was stone cold.like it was just out of fridge.went in next day to inform the owner and he was very apologetic.we will return and hope its bck to its usual standards.

We were desperate for a bite to eat when we stopped in at Real Tandoori and are so thrilled we had a chance to do so. There's a ton of selection in the menu, and we all loved everything we had - pizza, house special curry, and a lovely custom korma. I have a tomato allergy and wanted the korma and, instead of suggesting a different dish (as many restaurants do), the owner immediately offered to make a custom version without the typical tomato paste (at no extra cost). Not only did they make it custom, they offered free pappadoms and puddings due to the extended time needed to fulfill the order. We were all blown away at the level of service, and delighted by the flavor of everything. We would absolutely return given the chance!

This was my second visit to real tandoori and I tried the munchy box. Very reasonable price and jam packed of meat, chips and pakora. Very good

Made my debut at Real Tandoori after letting them settle in for a few weeks. My first order was wrong but staff fixed it quickly. My food was top notch and freshly made in front of me but I had a long wait as did the others in the shop. I will 100% be back to try something else. A great addition to the take away scene in Banff.
