Although it's labelled a sweet shop it does hot drinks and snacks too. The homemade cakes are great - I had a Strawberry and coconut slice @ only £1.80, amazing. The menu is basic but it's worth a visit before or after your walk.

Handily situated right by the car park in Baslow this shop is great for grabbing a quick snack before or after exploring the Chatsworth estate. Good size takeaway cup of tea at a very good price!

A brilliant well stocked sweet shop that also sells the excellent Bradwells Derbyshire ice cream. Lovely to see the lady that runs the place dressed in a full England kit including white shorts today in readiness for tonight’s European game in Rome, a really great spirit.

This is a local shop/cafe, now operating as a takeaway from a hatch next to the car park. Prices are good and the cake was amazing. Substantial slice of Coconut and Strawberry Slab Cake really tasty too.

Very reasonable and always friendly Highly recommended They have a great idea and offer reduced prices for their tea and coffee if you bring your own mug. This is a good plan to reduce wastage

What a great window display! Over forty different large sweet bottles on view, back to back with the same on the inside. Numerous childhood favourites, with pre bagged portions of a quarter (lb) of sweets resting on the loose contents, which made for quick service. I was with my two sisters and my niece: we each had a small selection of delights, and promised ourselves another treat next time! Great service.

I popped in here one Saturday and they had a great selection of bottled sweets. I wanted 100g of a mixture of Dolly Mixtures and Raspberry bon bons. I took the bottles over to the till and told the woman what I wanted and she said "sorry it's too much of a hassle to weigh out when it's busy". A totally unsatisfactory response especially when only one other person was in the shop. I mean how long can it take to weigh out a mixture of 100g. I wouldn't recommend this place and I won't be returning.

Best sweet shop since the 1970's, so much to choose from. Huge range of packaged and jars of sweets, also snacks and hot drinks.

If you are catching a bus in Baslow, you are right by Sweet Genes. Any kind of candy imaginable. Good sandwiches. Cold beverages to take away.

This shop has a huge selection of sweets which motivated our children to visit every day of the week we spent in Baslow. The ice cream was lovely on the warm days and trying the Bakewell flavour - very location appropriate - was a new experience! The sandwich, crisps and drinks we got to take away for lunch was the best value for all of the Peak District. The sandwiches were tasty and fresh.

This was a great little shop during our week long stay in Baslow. It had a big selection of sweets, our kids went there almost every day! They had a good ice-cream selection and we were excited when we saw they had Bakewell pudding flavour which we had never heard of before but was very appropriate to the local area - it tasted good too! We purchased sandwiches, crisps and drinks for lunch and it was unbelievably priced, they most reasonable we have ever paid for this kind of quick lunch and the sandwiches were lovely and fresh. Located just near a bus-stop at the village green it is well worth a stop for a snack/light lunch to take with you.

Really lovely food, you wouldn't know it from the outside/inside - it's like any other pub but the food was really good. Had the best dessert - rice pudding with apple and nuts - to die for.

Delicious lunch. I had ham and cheese baguette. Crunchy bread and chunky ham. My friend had leek and potato soup which she said was wonderful with tasty fresh granary bread. The oatcake with cheese and onion was also highly rated. Loos were clean.
