Well finally this dump has closed for good, not sure what the real reasons are for closure bit it sounds like poor customer service, over 15 complaints here and pics to prove it , if anyone has had a bad experience with this restaurant I suggest a claim for compensation from the "Bad Restaurant Bureau" in France.

Swatlands redeemed themselves by their food…We were waiting approx 10 minutes for even the menus to arrive on our table. A further 45 mins for our starters. Our mains didn’t arrive until we have been sat for 1 hour and 45 mins in total. When the food arrived, we were all happy with our choices, the food was tasty with good portion sizes and a decent amount of meat. I loved the naan bread!! I thought the restaurant could have been cleaner, some of the waiters could have been better presented and the ventilation could have been a lot better.

Came here tonight, food was cold!! Chicken tikka masala was not right at all…. Bland and just tomato and the odd piece of chicken. The naan was like biting through leather and the starters were tasteless and burnt. The onion bhaji was over cooked you couldn’t cut into it without it going everywhere. And drinks prices were ridiculous! 2 alcoholic beverages and three small soft drinks… £25 don’t know how they have stayed open looking at the other reviews on different sites. Never stepping foot in this place again. Vile

Good attentive service, but in fairness there were only 2 tables being used on a Friday night. As a group of seasoned curry eaters we were looking forward to our swatlands experience, but the currys where so unbelievably hot we couldn’t taste anything after the first mouthful and made the currys inedible. You are given 1-5 on a spice level and we varied from 3-4 and they were the hottest curry any of us had ever tasted. Spoilt an enjoyable evening and won’t return.

I have been using Swatlands for a number of years. Because of COVID I stayed away. I had a takeaway today that was just terrible. A chicken jalfezzi that you could have given to a baby. The sauce was watery and almost tasteless. The pillau rice was hard the naan bread average. I have contacted them and have been offered a new meal. That’s not what I’m about. I have told them that I am posting this. They need to get back to basics.

It's been a long time. Since we last went out. So we went to the Indian restaurant, Swaziland it seemed a bit chaotic. We got and waited and say we're quite busy with doing takeaways as well as serving people. And we got a table we waited for drink. Before we ordered our main course. You seem to have to wait quite a while for everything that you want to. I think there was short staffed tablecloth on the tables and the plates are all different. Her that matters or not. I'm not sure. Seemed a bit claustrophobic. Not somewhere I'd go again food was ok not brilliant had better.

Came here for a meal on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was reasonably quiet (less than half full) but there was clearly a very high demand for takeaways. (The waiting area was crowded, and the phone barely stopped ringing.) We overheard members of staff commenting that they were short-staffed that evening, and one waiter dissuaded a customer at a nearby table from having a dish that 'will take far too long to cook on a busy evening'. (The logic of this is almost as questionable as the professionalism.) The menu helpfully informed us that we could order dishes of varying heat from mild through to very hot, but when we asked for one of our choices to be 'mild' the waiter said, 'It won't taste of anything' and started to suggest other dishes in a rather pushy way. We then waited 45 minutes for our starters, which were of mediocre quality. The onion bhajis were overcooked, and the mogo chips had a very chewy texture. To be fair, the main courses were much better. Interestingly, the dish that we were told would be tasteless was actually quite hot. I was left wondering whether the waiter had decided to over-rule us, as he clearly felt he knew what we wanted better than we did. Based on this visit, and compared with other Indian restaurants that we visit regularly, Swatlands is decidedly run of the mill. We won't be rushing back.

After a long day at work, I fancied a good old curry. I have never really had any problems with them beforehand apart from one instance where they completely messed up my order and then when I returned didn't even apologise (charming). So I thought I would order from Swatlands as it was just down the road and it would be fair to give them the benefit of the doubt. Wow, what a mistake that was. I ordered chilli paneer and chicken Tikka Malasa for my partner and me. It was disgusting. So hot I couldn't taste a thing it made my eyes water (despite it being a tikka masala). The chicken was of poor quality and poorly cooked. After spending a wasted £20 on this order, I then had to order from Dominoes (lovely by the way -would recommend). A lot of my friends have used Swatlands but I won't be supporting in future. Awful service, rude staff, terrible food, overpriced rubbish. Never order or at least wait until there's a new chef or staff. Sad to see what was such a lovely place turn into a dump.

We went for a curry without booking and were seated quickly. Staff were attentive and took our order efficiently. They do an excellent curry choice that you can have cooked to your own preferences. We all had the 'spicy' version. Hotter than medium but not as hot as madras. One of the best curries I have ever eaten. Loved it. My only moan is we were presented with complimentary chicken dishes after our poppadoms. I am a strict vegetarian and was left with greasy chicken that I did not order in front of me. He did apologise and fetch me some pannier as a replacement but being as I ordered vegetarian starters and main course shouldn't it have been obvious?? Would definitely eat here again. Next time I will make sure they know I am a vegetarian.

We booked and visited here for six people plus a baby and specially requested a high chair. On arrival the staff were put out that we had brought our baby in a pram and were not very accommodating with putting the pram in a nearby place as they had to rearrange their tables. We then saw that the high chair that we were given was actually broken and would be very dangerous to put the baby in as it could fall straight out. They only owned one more high chair and this was in use on another table. We were told that the high chair would be free in 15 minutes and they would bring it straight over to us. This never happened and we received no apology or explanation from the staff.

I have been a regular here for a few years now, with both friends and family, and have always thoroughly enjoyed the food. However, last night was very disappointing. It was the last Saturday before Xmas so expected it to be busy, but to be honest it's always packed out anyway so they are used to it, and they had plenty of staff working. Our table was booked for 7.30pm and we only got our main course at 10pm!! They took forever to even take a drinks order, then the same again with food. They got various drinks wrong 3 times, and when the mains finally arrived they also got one of the dishes wrong too. I wouldn't have minded too much, if they had said to us at some point 'sorry about the wait' but the staff were all quite rude and abrubt throughout our time there, and clearly couldn't bring themselves to apologise, despite it being obvious we were getting a bit annoyed. By the time we got the mains we weren't that hungry as we had gone past that stage! When they came to clear up they said have you finished and we remarked 'yes but it was all just a bit late' and their response was that they would pack the food up for us- still no sign of any apology. As we were about to leave they offered us a drink on the house but it wasn't really appropriate as my pregnant friend just wanted to get home and my other friend had a long journey back. Too little too late unfortunately. Although the quality of the food was very high, as usual, a couple of the dishes weren't very hot either. Think we'll be trying somewhere else next time.

We had friends staying with us and wanted to be sure of the venue and the food, with confidence we chose Swatlands and as usual they excelled on all fronts. Our party wasn't the easiest to accommodate as there was eight of us, two of which were children and two were elderly and not very mobile. The staff were great with all of us and made a special effort to make the kids feel welcome (including doubling up on the after dinner chocolates and making them some mocktails). Starters and mains were served in good time and the attentiveness of the staff at all times was really impressive ( some of the group live in the US and are used to good service, they too were impressed). The food here just seems to get better and whilst the menu contains everything you'd expect, I always find some thing new and this time was no exception. Really authentic flavours, great cuts of meat and every dish was totally distinguishable from the other in terms of the sauces ( sounds obvious yet so many Indian restaurants seem to use the same sauce and distinguish them with the magnitude of additional chillies..) the whole group raved about the experience and will without doubt be back soon. No point looking elsewhere when you have such a reliable gem nearby.
