Lovely and varied vegetarian Chinese food, lovely friendly service and atmosphere too. Four of us ate here and all our dishes were delicious and utterly fresh, but also very different from each other which was a bonus. Especially recommend the noodles!

El restaurante estaba muy ocupado y se las arreglaron para apretarnos cuando no teníamos una reserva. Teníamos un plato de fideos, un plato de patatas, tortitas y arroz, además de bebidas. Toda la comida era fresca y deliciosa y nos encantó. El ambiente era agradable, la decoración agradable. El personal era agradable, pero te sentiste un poco como si te estuvieran observando bastante. Además, pedimos que se eliminara el cargo por servicio. No hay reflexión sobre el servicio, pero en el Reino Unido, la propina no es un hecho y para que se incluya en la factura no es ideal. Pague más a su personal o cobre más por su comida. Al pedir que se lo quitaran, el camarero dijo que no se preocupara y que se lo quitaría, pero el que parecía ser su jefe se acercó y le preguntó cuál era el problema. Dijimos que no había ningún problema y él dijo, ¿había algún problema con el servicio? Dijimos que no, no es obligatorio, ¿verdad? Y dijo que no y lo dejó. Hice algo que es nuestro derecho a hacer (y pedimos cortésmente) muy incómodo.

A brilliant restaurant serving really fresh and unusual Chinese dishes with excellent ingredients. Noodle dishes are amazing. Very friendly service. It's not licenced but you can BYO wine.

We are vegetarian, and Sandeep has amazing food knowledge and people skills and he helped us to choose the meal. It was all very delicious, very good value for money, huge portions, all fresh ingredients. Amazing service by Sandeep too. We will definitely return when we come back to Bristol. Dipil.

This was a great find. A good place to be adventurous and try new things as it was all good, well cooked and served hot. Service was friendly, tables mostly full but high turn over. I think those who know, know and are regulars. A number of single diners grabbing something good on the way home. Teas were excellent, but you can bring your own if you want some houch.

Suyuan is absolute MAGIC! The food was magnificent (so we forgot to photograph the food!!). The location is central but secluded. The atmosphere and decor is so cute and cosy and authentic. The food was INSANE. There are soooo many vegan options. The food must’ve been mindfully cooked, not too oily or heavy as we ate LOADS (4 starters and 2 mains) and felt on a high and not uncomfortable after. We had the braised aubergine which was so tasty, sweet and sour. Loads of epic special mushroom dishes. Too much to name. But as a committed vegan, I am over the moon to find such a delicious and special vegan Chinese place in town!! The PERFECT place for dates, special events and taking friends and family visiting Bristol. I’ll be returning often now I know!! ♥️ Thank you to the lovely team who looked after us so kindly too.

Such a great place. The food was DELICIOUS, and the service was brilliant with great recommendations. The waiters were all so kind, fun and patient with us whilst we couldn’t decide what we wanted. Would definitely reccomend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This little Chinese place is a rare blend of vegetarian and authentic Chinese flavours. Oftentimes it is on or the other. The food was excellent, we had an aubergine and preserve egg dish and a friend asparagus and pepper dish. In the fried veg dish everything was cooked perfectly to make every vegetable pop. We have fried enochi mushrooms and the bean curd wraps for starters and both we the right portion for starters and separately flavourful. This is our first night in Bristol and this little spot is unassuming but has started our weekend off to a flying start

Had a kerala friend in the restaurant who helped the to understand the food and serve the excellent foods.

I'm not vegetarian and really enjoyed the food. Tips: 1 book because it's popular 2 go early to get the early bird special 3 bring your own booze 4 download the menu because there are so many options from which to choose. Enjoy.

Suyan is the best restaurant in Bristol! We love it, N4 and M19 are our favourites and the dumplings are a gift from heaven! The staff is also very lovely and helpful! Come, no doubts!

We both had the starter, main and rice and all the dishes were tasty, visually appealing and the service was outstanding. The jasmine tea was great as well. If you like vegetarian Chinese foods and wanna treat yourself, then I definetly recommend this place.

Came here with friends. They loved it, so maybe I just ordered the wrong items! It seemed very expensive for what was served, I ordered a lemonade, fried enoki mushroom starter and chef special main of gong bao to-fu and that came to £28 which I wouldn't have minded if it had tasted good. The fried enoki mushrooms were mostly just batter, which tasted like it had been cooked with old oil. The gong bao tofu dish was a bowl of very small diced pieces of tofu, vegetables, with a few peanuts throughout. It was incredibly salty. The tofu pieces were very dry. I was so hungry that I tried to eat as much as I could, but it made me feel quite ill afterwards and the next day. There are a lot of tables crammed into what is a very small space, so once full, it is really loud, so don't recommend it if you're overwhelmed by that kind of thing. Otherwise the aesthetic of the restaurant is lovely and the staff were nice.

What a fantastic place! Often walk past while walking my dog and decided to give it a try …. Really glad I did! Fantastic food, really tasty and different menu from what you might expect. Generous portions, freshly cooked and really friendly staff. Marked it down one star for atmosphere as seemed to have some generic pop radio station on…. But a very minor point! Loved the meal and experience and BYOB is a real bonus 😊

Came here last night with 10 friends, having never been, or heard of it before. Having only stopped eating meat in the past year, I'm so happy to find it! Absolutely delicious food, great service, really friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. We tried a range of dishes between us and they were all delicious – quite frankly it was so tasty that I forgot that it was vegetarian food (as sometimes I can lack inspiration in finding interesting vegetarian recipes and flavours). Will definitely return, highly recommend – and just wish they did deliveries or were on Deliveroo! Thanks!

I’ve been here 3 times now, I love the dumplings and noodles so much. Great atmosphere and nice that it’s BYOB. I struggled with their booking system as you can only request a booking. it needs to changed as I found it impossible to make a group booking and in the end got pretty stressful as they only let me know the day before the booking that they couldn’t make the time I requested. Other than that - love this place definitely go if you haven’t been :) great veggie food.

The food was very good and timing of the courses was good. The menu is pretty big and could be smaller, we struggled to choose and then to remember what we had each ordered! The service was otherwise a bit too slow. It seemed to take ages for everyone to get their drink and we were left for too long after eating for the plates to be cleared. The staff were not visible on the floor enough to get their attention. Also our table was a bit too small for the number of people, we struggled to fit all our dishes and glasses etc. Finally we were right next to the music speaker sadly which made it hard to hear and the music style is not great for the atmosphere. Prices are correct for central Bristol restaurants and the 12.5% is now the norm. I will come back for the quality of the food but the rest could be improved.

I had a great time at Suyuan, all of the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was fantastically flavourful with the dumplings being the highlight.

The staff here are so lovely! I dined alone and got number N6 with extra tofu and chilli and a smoothie to wash it down! Great for vegans like me! the portions are big and the food was really really tasty. The staff made me feel very welcomed and made an effort to talk to me! I’ll be coming back next time i’m in Bristol :-)

Brilliant restaurant with friendly staff. The early bird offer was excellent value. So many tasty sounding options on the menu it was really hard to choose - really looking forward to going back in the future. Recommend booking a table as it got busy really early.

I loved our meal at Suyuan. The staff were very sweet, the food was so good although the menu was a little hard to navigate. I highly recommend the coconut pancakes (I am obsessed) and the braised aubergine. I can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely love this place. Both times I've been it's been way up there with the best food I've of this style I've ever had. I find it's quite hard to find plant based Asian fusion restaurants, especially ones that do it well. Well done for an excellent menu, lovely atmosphere and impeccable service. Highly recommended 💜

Its a nicely decorated restaurant, but thats about it as far as my meal went. £8.95 for "Shredded potato & red onion cake, served with home-made spicy sauce". That turned out to be 2 small onion bhajis, borderline burnt, a hint of coriander. The home-made spicy sauce was a bit of chilli in soy sauce. The Chinese cabbage, shiitake mushroom dumplings for £7.95 were actually good, same sauce as above. The Suyuan special curry - Potato, butternut squash & enoki mushroom curry. Curry? More like potato & squash in a salty soy broth. There was mushroom? I complained and was told twice "thats how it comes". Eventually they took it back and added some chilli. Their website gives loads of spices in the pictures but none made it to my curry. Looking back through the reviews from a year ago that is continued common complaint, but its still the same. Jasmine rice was barely cooked, and 1/2 small bowl. The strawberry drink was nice, but for a total of £45.84. Way too much.

No había estado antes, pero las críticas parecían buenas y el menú parecía variado e interesante para los no vegetarianos para estar satisfecho. Superó todas las expectativas - absolutamente delicioso. Como grupo, compartimos una variedad de platos y cada uno era nada menos que morcilla, sacando a relucir las fortalezas del sabor natural de los hongos, berenjenas, col china (y más) con condimentos y salsas realmente morcillas. Destacaron el gung pao tofu y el plato de tres champiñones en particular. El servicio era atento y acogedor, y el restaurante estaba dispuesto a tomar la orden de mi colega vegano por adelantado para la preparación separada para asegurar que no hay contaminación cruzada con cualquier gelatina, huevo o de otro tipo, que era un toque elegante. Me gusta mi comida y me gusta comer fuera, y esta fue fácilmente una de las mejores experiencias de restaurantes que he tenido en Bristol.

Delicious vegetarian food. I was delighted I could pick anything from the menu, I had a hard time choosing! The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I would highly recommend. Especially the ‘early bird special’, dine before 7pm for a great deal and choice of starter, main and side.

The food here is beyond delicious! Whether you’re vegetarian or a meat eater, go here and appreciate what can be done with vegetables, herbs and spices as well as some unusual ingredients (for us UK peeps). The staff were so friendly and informative and the place has a nice hum from the chatter of the customers.

I didn’t realize it was vegetarian before I went there, but I was pleasantly surprised. The tofu pot is super delicious and the fried noodles are also good.

This is my FAVOURITE Chinese restaurant - amazing, delicious food, lovely calm atmosphere and wonderful, solicitous service. Incredible value for money. I’m conflicted because I want to celebrate the business… but I don’t want it to be so busy that I can’t get a table! 🤣 Too good to keep it to myself. You have to go.

This is my absolute favourite place in Bristol. The flavours, textures and presentation are wonderful. The service is always lovely, everyone is very friendly and interesting to chat to. I moved out of Bristol last year and Suyuan is always going to be my first place to go when I come back to visit. I HIGHLY recommend!!

I love this place! The dumplings are to die for and the tofu and aubergine dishes are so fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is great, and I keep coming back here again and again with my friends. It feels like one of the best kept secrets in Bristol.

Great atmosphere- very friendly and helpful staff. The food was incredible. Loads of different flavours and textures. M16 was a particular favourite. The early bird deal is an extra bonus. Cannot recommend this enough (and everything that doesn't say egg on the menu is vegan!). Bring your own wine :)

I am from Malaysia, and I can confidently say that this restaurant serves the best Chinese food I've ever had in the UK in the whole 12 years I've lived in this country. More specifically, they serve southern Chinese cuisine. True to what they advertise on their website, I have always felt like I'm eating a homecooked Chinese meal whenever I'm at Suyuan. There's none of that cloyingly sweet, boring food normally sold in Chinese restaurants in the UK. If you've never had real southern Chinese cuisine, you will be in for a surprise. A really good one, if you're the adventurous type. It might not be for you if you like the usual fare served in many 'Chinese' restaurants in this country, unless you can be open-minded about this. The staff have always been absolutely lovely, and my husband and I have always had amazing service here. There are nights where it can be busy, but they have always been brilliant.

We found this place while passing by. My partner and I were not expecting such a good and tasty food. The menu does not correctly mark the vegan options and the waiter struggled to explain them clearly. I tried the garlic noodles and they were delicious. I recommend this place!

I’d give six stars if I could. I’ve found my new favourite restaurant. Really tasty vegetarian and vegan food. Hot, freshly prepared food. Truly outstanding. Between three of us we had: Noodles with spinach, chilli, garlic, tofu Braised Aubergine, stir-fries with potato and mixed peppers Deep fried tofu, stir-fried with wood ear mushrooms in vegetarian oyster sauce Jasmine Rice Pak Choi Dumplings. All were delicious and we all shared each others dishes. The sound of the evening was “mmmmm” Truly fantastic. Topped off with great service. Given the price was about the same as an average pub’s burger it was great value too

Love love love this place. Make a reservation ahead of time! This restaurant is always packed and for good reason. The early bird dinner special is definitely where you get the most value for your money- 21.5£ for an appetizer, main, and pancake. The coconut pancake is divine, as are the dumplings and noodles!

Recently visited the Suyuan Restaurant after hearing about it from frens. Would like to say !!! I loved the vibes that the restaurant has !!! It’s an absolutely beautiful cozy atmosphere inside the restaurant. Hats off to the amazing staff at the counter and the cook himself. You find yourself in a different place when you are inside the restaurant. The food is just Fab !!! Loved it !!! One reason why costumers come in is the unique taste that the restaurant offers. I would like to sincerely appreciate the hospitality provided by Kiran who served us and helped us making best choices from the menu. And none other than the Master Chef Mr. Tinto who gave us amazing dining experience. We would surely visit again and with frens. Thank you Once again.

This is the 3rd time I've visited and each time it's been better - excellent food, v friendly staff. Byo booze. ......... The last time I visited I gave this gem a strong 4 stars, this time it's a solid 5 stars! Superb good, delicious - friendly, helpful staff. Not cheap but definitely good value. Large choice of food suitable for plant based diets.

Overall the food was tasty but it’s extremely expensive for what it is. We got the special rice for around £8 which turned out to be half a small bowl of rice with very few tiny pieces of veggies in it. We were very disappointed with that! The best dish was the sweet and sour aubergine. The coconut pancakes were also good, but everything else we got ( mushroom stir fry dish, dumplings and special rice) were nothing special. Dumplings fell apart and were way too salty and garlicky. Also, the menu doesn’t clearly mark the vegan options and you have to read the ingredients to see which things have egg in them, which is a bit annoying.

An absolute gem of a find! Freshly cooked incredible ingredients and flavours. Gave to my 15/21 year old sons and didn’t tell them it was veggie. They LOVED it all and were blown away that there was no meat. Highly recommend.

If you're looking for a bad and expensive meal, this is the place to go. I can't remember the last time I had such a bad experience, such a scam.

Really enjoyed fried Goyza and the sweet and sour, spinach and egg rice and the starter of Chinese lettuce/cabbage. But the pancakes with spring onions were awful - no flavour - just greasy dough - avoid. Takeaway for 2 people £40 - so not a cheap option . But good veggie effort and ambience

Me and my friends absolutely love this restaurant. They have delicious vegetarian Chinese food!

This place completely ignores customer needs and has very concerning hygiene standards. Not only did they put vegetables in my dish that I don’t eat, but they also used their hands to remove them directly from the plate. I ultimately had to cancel my order to catch the train and ended up going hungry for the night.

Not just the best vegetarian Chinese I've ever had, but one of the best Chinese meals full stop. Good prices, good service, generous portions, the only downside was the repetitive pop playlist they had on!

Place was empty but waiters couldn't be bothered to show me to a table. When they did, it was by the door. Asked to be moved, then found out menu is not "vegan friendly" but all vegetarian. Why is this not the forefront of their website???? Foot fall ruse????

Honestly the worst meal we've had in a long time which is a shame as we were really looking forward to a nice veggie meal :( everything was sooooo salty, lots of things on the menu werent available, there was so much oil in the starters. Overall we spent way too much money on food we could barely eat. Wouldn't recommend.

So pleased we found this restaurant and booked ahead. It is a lovely small restaurant so fills up, make sure you book ahead. The food is freshly cooked and turns up very hot. The dumplings were incredible but be careful you don't burn your mouth. We loved the smoothies and tea available to drink. The service was quick. I had the onion cakes, the potato curry and the spinach and egg fried rice. This was probably the best rice I've ever eaten. Would definitely return if I visit Bristol again

Southern Chinese vegetarian. Everything is delicious - a fantastic cuisine that we hardly experience in Britain. Spicy but not overpowering, terrific range of ingredients and cooking styles on a very impressive menu. Unpretentious and homely.

Banging. I was Really hesitant to try it as it's all vegetarian but was great. I really didn't miss having meat for one meat. Also don't sleep on the green tea! It's Worth it just to pour from that pot.

This is a hidden gem of a restaurant. Tasteful and cosy interior with lovely touches and friendly staff. Absolutely delicious food and very good portion sizes. It's a BYO, with a handy store around the corner to buy alcohol from, should you need it. Will definitely be back!

Standout dishes include: ° Suyuan guo shui mian 素缘过水面 - Home style noodles served with sauted green beans, shredded cucumber, garlic sauce & peanut butter sauce. ° Xiang jian fu pi juan 香煎腐皮卷 - Pan fried dry bean curd roll filled with carrot, onion, sprouts & mushroom. Interesting drinks menu, particularly the tea selection. Caveat: • The food is often overly salty. • The disharmony between FOH and the kitchen is, unfortunately, often palpable. • FOH could pay more attention to respecting booking times and rotation of bigger tables.
