Home away from home while we visted from Newcastle for a couple of days, absolutely worth a visit. Beautiful pub, full of history, music and new friends. Super welcoming and inclusive, get yourselves down!

Doesn't serve Guinness, but has a stout alternative, that wasn't good. Decent outside area that also serves pizza, but this was closed when we got there.

Only had beer and my wife had red wine both were good.

Very vibey pub surrounded by amazing street art. There is regular live music on, both modern and traditional.

The food is decent for a pub if a bit basic but the wood fired pizza is great and the Sunflower really shines as a live music venue. Love going here. Lots of really great local music talent to enjoy and the drinks are priced reasonably too.

When you order a soft drink it usually comes with a glass to drink it from, the staff here need training with this.

This place deserves more than 5 stars all round. So much fun, incredible pizzas and proper Irish folk music groups. Staff were so helpful and fun as we're the locals. They even pre ordered our pizzas before we arrived to be sure we didn't miss out. And most importantly, they welcome dogs. Drinl prices were def. lower than normal too.

The Sunflower is a pub with a great selection of affordable beers and warm atmosphere. There is also an outside seating area with heated lamps (which I think there could have been more of).

Old fashioned Belfast pub. The decor is a relic of the 1970s. It's cosy, with friendly staff and an excellent range of beers.

Ok. If you’re into beer, and in Belfast, this is a must visit. The old historical pubs are fab, but you’re caught between Guinness and many variants of lager, with an occasional red ale. All keg. The Sunflower has fresh ale, craft beers, a European selection; it’s a thoughtful range. Also, it’s friendly. And no Guinness.

Terrible experience with bar man, Rory has some dark views. I went to the bar for a laugh not to listen to a political views.

Lovely outdoor space with fantastic pizza. Very difficult to find seating because it has become so popular. They have lots of local drinks which is nice but the staff is usually too busy to help you find a drink that you might like since they don't serve many of the "standard' beers. When they have trad music on the atmosphere is great, otherwise it wouldn't be my first choice in Belfast pubs but it is for many especially the more hip younger crowd. The drinks are no more expensive than any other pub and the green cage at the door makes you want to go in to see what it is about. I do appreciate all the community conscious events they host and this definitely makes the Sunflower stand out.

You want good pizza and an affordable pint and friendly vibes in Belfast? Sunflower is the place to be. Sunflower is so good I dressed up as it for Halloween. Where do I begin? You’ll make friends for life in the expansive back area. You will get to people watch or converse. You will right the world’s wrongs. According to some awarding bodies, this is the best pub in Belfast and rightly so. The prices are amazing for the location and atmosphere. My go-to tends to be the Grolsch, however the Budvar and Erdinger are great too. Spirit wise, the Red Leg rum never disappoints. There is no Guinness but the Beamish will certainly suffice. I had never really drank Beamish until introduced to it by this unique establishment. The bar is LGBT-friendly and there are plenty of pups dotted about the place to keep you entertained when you are curing the Sunday fear. I cannot let this review go without mentioning the pizza, which is out of this world and provided by the amazing Boxing Hare. Try the sundown I assure it will brighten things up for you, like the Sunflower does so well. The staff are great too. Shoutout to Becca, Conor, Charys, Rory, Hugh, Collette and Chloe for the exceptional service and curls. As a side note, I admire that the Sunflower provided an award to an artist at this year’s RUA exhibition in Ulster Museum! Pure class 🌻

Good vibes, great pizza and drinks

Brilliant atmosphere and first-rate staff. Will visit again next time I'm home in Belfast.

My partner and I came in with a couple of friends after work a few weeks ago for a pint and a pizza. Pints were lovely, love the local selection they offer, pizza was great too. They put some candles out on the table and we were having a great time. However, while we were in conversation, my partner started subconsciously picking at the loose wax on the candle and it fell to the table. A member of staff, a young blonde girl, came over to collect our glasses and as she was leaving, very rudely told us to stop picking at the candle because it “causes a mess and makes clean-up longer.” It was about 6pm at this point, I think we were all a bit taken aback. Fair enough but, we’ve both done our years in hospitality, sometimes you’re just having a bad day and you take it out on the wrong person without thinking. So my partner started picking up the wee pieces of wax and putting them into the candle again to melt and clean up the mess. Two minutes later, the member of staff came back over and without saying a word, lifted the two candles on the table, blew them out and set them away from us. We were all in shock. Cannot put into words how embarrassed my partner was, she is a working adult and was made to feel like a misbehaving child. We all were. Usually love coming to Sunflower, been here many times, we’ve actually played trad here before, but absolutely will not be back and will be telling others not to. This is the first review I’ve ever left for any place, our experience was that bad. Seriously disappointed.

AMAZING alcohol free milk stout beer - best one I’ve ever had. Also the garden’s oven baked pizzas are fantastic, and the trad music sessions on Sunday.

Was early afternoon so it was quiet but nice friendly service and great recommendation on my pint choice. The Scrawny Bay IPA was exceptional.

Some of the best music in Belfast is to be heard hear most nights of the week. Covers virtually every genre - folk, trad, swing jazz, etc. Especially satisfying is an Appalachian Old Timey session on a Friday evening. Great music from a bunch of talented old timers! The beer is good as well and moderately priced. Highly recommended.

We where regulars for many years before lock down. We have just started going back. Week 1 brilliant enjoy the atmosphere..asked for a white Russian to finish of the evening and the barman made me one no problem. Today usual bottle of wine ..asked for a white Russian and told no We don't do them, I explained that I got one the week before only to be told by the bar person he wasn't doing it.I l went to my seat feeling totally imbarrised and close to tears. I honestly think the bar person could have adapted a better attitude towards the situation. I may be from an older generation..but I always thought manners mattered

Super ambiance dans ce pub. Esprit d’ouverture et de tolérance. Il n’ont pas de Guinness mais une autre stout Beam.. qqch, elle est très bonne, j’ai trouvé qu’on a un arrière goût de cacao très discret après l’avoir goûtée. 😃😃😃😃

Cool hidden gem. Lots of good atmosphere and lively crowds. There is also the artisan pizza stand in the back open patio.

J'ai trouvé ce pub après une journée de marche à travers la ville. C'était un lundi. Open mike night. L'ambiance était joyeuse et chaleureuse. J'y ai trouvé de la bonne bière (pas Guinness mais bonne 😜) et des personnes pour rompre un peu la solitude du voyage. Petit à-côté pour les amateurs de graff et de fresques ... y en a plein sur les murs des rues autour.

Place is usually busy but not completely packed. Prices are pretty good, especially compared to other bars in the area. Serving times are great, bar staff are great. Only real downside is the lack of any music outside of the upstairs events.

Mixture of hipster and some locals..pretty left leaning clientele going by the posters about the place but no hassle from anyone..great choice of not your run of the mill beers! And a rare place to sample Beamish! Pizzas from outside authentic oven a must!

Can't go wrong with this place, I visit every time I'm in Belfast. Lots of atmosphere in the pub itself and the streets around, a good range of craft beer in the fridge, plus the hidden gem is the patio out back with umbrellas on the tables and a pizza oven dishing out great pizza.

We loved this place! The unpretentious, collaborative live music happening at a corner table! The delicious pizza! The beer selection! The queer-friendly staff and clientele! This was the Irish pub experience we were longing for after too many loud pubs full of rowdy “bros.” If we’re ever in Belfast again, we’ll be back!

One of Belfast's best offerings for pubs. The sunflower is a historic bar, a lovely place to go for a weekday drink, Friday night with some friends or even just to grab a pizza. The atmosphere is always great, this bar generates a buzz like no other, the staff are wonderful to be around and genuinely are lovely. The bar is homely, the drinks are cheap and the craic is 90. Sunflower is iconic for many reasons, but most importantly, I always feel welcomed here.

Great Atmosphere, went here for a Beer and Cheese tasting night ran by Mike's Fancy Cheese.

Wanted to see the gates at the front of the pub protecting customers from gunmen bursting in and shooting up the place during the troubles. Very poignant. Didn't eat there, but the pizzas cooked in the beer garden in the wood fired oven looked good.

The perfect inner city pub. Friendly staff at the bar and the kitchen, a good range of beer on tap and in cans (the Kinnegar Brewery heavily features, which is great!), a sprawling outdoor space out past the bar (featuring a wood-fired pizza oven), and regular live music. And if street art is your thing, Sunflower is in the middle of plenty of that too.

Lovely spot as a stop off on the Belfast pub tour. On a side street off the beaten track to the main roads it holds a brilliant eclectic mix of people. There is a huge outdoor area with picnic tables and a pizza bar at the side. They ran out of Guinness when we were there but had Beamish as a reserve.

They serve a lot of craft beer here...so it's kind of like going to a hipster bar but it's a pub. It's very small inside, so you're hard pressed to get a seat anywhere unless you're willing to go outside into a huge beergarden. They serve pizza made in an outdoor pizza oven, and it's really nice... however it always seems to be crowded with people which can feel claustrophobic at times especially if you like a bit of a chill vibe while eating.
