Sunflower Public House in Belfast

Very nice pub, had the gaa on which was nice. Looks a bit mad with the cage at the front door but i like that. Extremely rude staff, both staff members were so rude, unfriendly and unhelpful when serving me.

Nice quiet pub, good pizza and outdoor space.

Atmosphere varied too much for me personally

Great place. We were staying a Sunday night in Belfast on the way home from the Mourne Mountain Marathon in September so were ready for a good feed and a pint or two after a weekend in the hills. Great cask beer - can't remember what it was but it was very good. Delicious pizzas in the garden. Great service. Great friendly atmosphere. Later when we went indoors there was a music session going on. What more could you want!

The place was brimming with people on Friday evening. The entrance may looks very confined and fortified but at the back yard, there's a lot of seating arrangement and a pizza bar too. No Guinness but you can get a Beamish as it's replacement and other Irish craft beers. The place is worth visiting.

My favourite bar in all of Belfast. Drink selection is beyond amazing. Atmosphere is jumping. Just to update my thoughts on the pizza. The Sourdough base is exemplary. Also the range of toppings are rich and fulfilling. Plus black pepper honey on your pizza. A truly inspiring flavour combination.

Only popped in for a couple of pints of Beamish whilst visiting Belfast. Great little pub, the staff were pleasant. Love the signed LP covers on the wall Bothy Band, Moving Hearts, Planxty etc. I will definitely return on my next visit to Belfast, it's a cracking pint of Beamish here

A great real pub. I discovered it whilst walking in and around the cathedral quarter of belfast. So Im told, the only pub that still has the steel cages from "the troubles" in and around its front door.

Sunflowers inspired Van Gogh to paint their bright blooms, often associated with optimism and happiness. Sunflower seeds are arranged in a spiral pattern within the flower head, following the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio for efficient space utilisation. Talking of which, the Sunflower bar is a lesson in efficient space utilisation for maximum craic and foamy pints per person. Call in and hang up your hat and scarf. Undo your top button. Find a seat in the cosy bar or outside in the sun soaked beer garden space. Satiate thy hunger with a delicious boxing hare pizza and see where the night takes you. Great variety of beers on tap, spirits and wines to quench a mighty thirst. May I recommend a Kinegar rust bucket? Very refreshing. Competitive prices too. A wide variety of live music can be heard in the main bar and in the upstairs space. Check the Sunflower Instagram to find out what's on when you visit. I've spent some of the best evenings of my life here, amongst friends in an atmosphere of convivial joy and good cheer, drink and tall tales flowing merrily, celebrating life's rich carnival.

Love this place. There was a music session going on on the Friday I was there and the pizza in the beer garden was excellent. Not the standard selection of beers, more towards the craft beer end of the market but overall excellent.

Would have been much better if we’d been allowed to drink our drinks in the pub. We got serviced just before 1, then immediately told to put our untouched drink into plastic cups and to leave. So much for 30 mins to finish your drinks. So my advice would be to not stay too late! Left a bad taste in an otherwise good night. I also didn’t think you were allowed to drink on the streets, sos didn’t even finish it.

This place has an immensely chill vibe. Though it can get crowded, it's just a testament to the quality of the establishment. Great place for a drink, to talk, to meet up and generally socialise.

Nice bar with a generally good atmosphere but some of the bartenders seem to have a stick up their arse for seemingly no reason.

On busy Friday evenings, you can still get a spot in the beer garden, where the pizza is prepared in the wood-fired oven. That pizza tasted excellent. Nice atmosphere, lots of young and somewhat alternative crowd. In the café four musicians played Irish music, very atmospheric.

Worth a detour to find this gem. Cosy little bar with a well curated craft beer selection and some good NI whiskies.

Cheap pints of delicious Beamish stout. Staff always very friendly. They sometimes have a trad session or other music on. Great selection of craft beers and they serve pizza in the yard but I haven't tried it yet.

I had the rudest customer service ever When i asked her for a spoon to take the ice out of my drink that i didn’t ask for she gave me an attitude saying ‘i am not going to dip my hands in your glass just throw them in the toilet’ I was totally shocked!! i only asked for a spoon !!!! Definitely no manners!!

Great wee bar . Only downside was it was freezing inside both in the public bar and upstairs. I didn't gave any food but the pizza looked and smelled amazing

Just don't see the appeal. Very small bar with the compulsory assortment of bric-a-brac on the walls in place of decor - eclectic and sometimes plain odd, much like their selection of beers. The majority of the bar is outside but, being Belfast, this is not often a vaible option. All it takes is a small group of noisy people and the entire bar's atmosphere of cozy bolt-hole is destroyed. Would go again but not unless pressed

I went with a volunteer teacher in Spanish and it was a super pleasant and fun experience, I felt like a shaman!!! 🤣🤣 I will repeat (Monday 18:15)

Characteristic Belfast pub, with live music and food (pizzas). At the entrance, a door with a cage reminiscent of times past to protect the premises from confrontations between Catholics and Protestants. Youth atmosphere. It is worth the visit.

Recommended by a friend from the local area. This pub has history from the troubles as the gated entrance still shows, but is now a buzzing bar with a great atmosphere and fantastic artisan pizza in the open area out back. A must visit.

No Guinness, but at least they have Beamish. Decent enough place to sit in. Seems understaffed. Good beers. Toilets are stinking, could do with vast improvement. But it seems like the kind of place that doesn't care about that kind of thing.

Absolutely banging pub with a great vibe. So much fun to sit at the back and sink a few quality beers. Massively reccomended.

3 star pub upped to 4 stars due it's obvious character and selling a great stout that isn't Guinness for a change. No craft beer of merit although a proper authentic Irish boozer.

One of the cheapest pubs in the city centre. Only 4.60 for a pint of beamish. Also usually has plenty of local beers like kinnegar on tap. Nice pizza as well although quite small. Overall I would definitely recommend the staff also friendly. Nice to see a pub not trying to take advantage of its customers by charging ridiculous prices. If only other pubs in the city centre would do the same

Typical Irish pub with a grill on the door that was used during the conflicts in Belfast to prevent attacks inside. They have a terrace where they make pizzas and one day a week they give Spanish classes. Various types of beers!!!

Great looking old pub with eclectic decoration thats well worth a visit if you’re in Belfast. Wide selection of local (shoutout Kinnegar) beers as well as the usual crowd. The beer garden out the back is nice too with live music and pizza from the boxing hare (which I’d say is only ok but nice if you’re stuck)

I've had many good times here, but also have to say the last time I was here staff were really rude and shuffled out customers as if they didn't matter. Everyone is tired at the end of their working day but you still have to be nice!

Very nice atmosphere. Very nice beer. Nice staff. As for food, they only serve pizzas. We ate a rustica pizza for 11£. It was delicious. Not enough for 2 people though. It's quite small.

Top pub thanks to the Good Beer Guide. Only one hand pull, Boundary Camper however it was a top pint. Over 3 days we visited three times - great chilled vibe in the beer garden, with pizzas to soak up the beer. Eclectic vibe - just off the main tourist route. Live music and comedy most nights.

A unique experience just a short walk from the city centre. Live music almost every day and a delicious wood fired pizza in the back yard. Lots of different beers. It is worth visiting.

The sweetest little neighborhood pub, and a highlight of our time in Belfast. We visited on a Sunday evening and loved the live trad music session, friendly staff, great beer, and welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.

Amazing atmosphere created by the punters and the musicians. Note to tourists * they don't sell Guinness here. But plenty of great beers and ales, like Kinnegars scraggy Bay or Rusty Ale.
