Sun Hall in North Somerset

First time I came here was due to the Storm Eunice power cuts as we couldn't cook for a day, so I decided to get a Chinese Takeaway for me and my elderly mother. I've been coming back ever since (approximately once a month)! I have serious food allergies (epipen etc), and my mother has an old person's delicate stomach... Sun Hall were excellent, they checked the ingredients of lots of dishes, and cooked our food specially to order eg no peppers or chillis for me, and a very mild chicken curry (without the mushrooms!) for my mother. I'm used to London takeaways - you certainly get larger portions in Somerset and lots of meat and fresh tasting vegetables too. I had enough in my order (chicken & cashew nuts, vegetable noodles) for two meals and I'm a big chap with a large appetite. Can't recommend enough - I will be bringing my elderly mother an extra mild chicken curry (without mushrooms) and boiled rice from Sun Hall on a monthly basis from now on. Thanks!

Great prices, great flavour, seasoning just right. Good portion sizes. Thoroughly enjoyable meal. Phoned the order through for delivery, arrived on time. Excellent takeaway.

Ordered a takeaway to collect and so glad we did. We were staying locally and had the place recommended. The menu was great and when we went to collect, it was so popular. Busy shop and non stop phone orders...a great sign. The food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend a visit to this friendly Chinese.

Second time we have tried delivery from Sun Hall. The food was more than 20mins late again. The food was slightly warm. Prawn crackers were soft. Cheungs in Yatton (no delivery) is much better.

We had our first meal from Sun Hall recently and were very happy with the standard of food. Tonight we'll be ordering and hope it's as good. Good portion sizes and value for money. Thanks

My family and I have used Sun Hall (both for collection and delivery) a few times and each time we enjoy the food. Visitors we have had have agreed. Always our fist choice for local takeaway food.

Poor first impression when the lass serving kept a queue waiting whilst she had a good chat to her mate on the phone, seemed totally oblivious that we were queuing out of the door. However once we ordered the food came quickly and efficiently and the food we ordered was nice, we had a mushroom fu yung, chicken chow mien and salt and pepper chicken all good! Sort the customer service and the score will rise dramatically!

We have been using Sunhall for several years and until recently they have been very good. Food and service were as good as you get in the area. However today we ordered a takeaway for the family consisting of 7 different items from the menu. Unfortunately the food was terrible, every dish tasted bland at best, and the chowmein & yuk sung was barely edible, even the seaweed was horrible. I called sunhall to let them know how bad it was, they tried to blame it on a computer fault and also that they were very busy. They were in fact particularly quiet compared to a normal Thursday evening and what a computer has to do with the food being rubbish is beyond me. I asked them if they had a new chef as there was such a drastic decline in the food. They did eventually own up that they had a relatively new chef, but they still insisted it was because the computer wasn’t working properly. Save your money and go elsewhere.

99% of the time the food is good and is delivered quickly. I love the Singapore chow main and the sweet and sour chicken Honk Kong style. Can't say no to their chicken fried rice either!

Best takeaway in the district, try the sweet and sour chicken balls, great flavour and large portions.

I have been a customer since they opened their doors but the last 12 months there has been a big decline in the quality of the food and delivery. I ordered KungPo Chicken extra hot today.The carrots and onion were raw. The chicken was in large chunky strips minus the batter. The sauce was sweet n sour instead of hot and spicy. Delivery was supposed to be 45 mins food arrived 1hr 15 mins later. I feel extremely annoyed tonight as food really was not edible. A new chef is called for.

I always enjoy the food from here. Quite happy to travel the extra distance to buy a takeaway. The service is friendly

very large portions, friendly service and good food. well priced for the serving sizes, sometimes a long wait for delivery at busy periods but would wait for the quality

Lovely food best chinese takeaway in the area by miles not many cut it, definitely recommend if you are ever passing throug Claverham!

The food is fantastic and size portions are huge but I've never known service like it there always very nice over the phone but sometimes trying get through to them is ridiculous sometimes trying for a hour either engaged or just rings rings rings rings etc on a Saturday night if you have a delivery has sometimes taken about 3 hrs and a few times even forgot dishes, if I pick it up always waiting for at least 20 minutes longer than the pick up time,Such a shame the service is so bad when the food is so good

Good Chinese menu with a range of choices, always find staff helpful when making choices. For a busy take away service is reasonable, it does pay to ring order in

We have had several take away from here, can be a little hit and miss. Missed items only to find once your home... Very annoying. It's happened twice. Generally good food. Extensive menu with lots on offer. Always check your order before you drive away.

We eat from here at least once a fortnight. Always great quality food and the premises are super clean!

Always difficult reviewing a takeaway establishment, therefore until I've used frequently I don't pass comment. Well this weekend put our family use into double figures for this year. I can definitely recommend the Sun Hall on producing very good and consistent quality take away food - not had a disappointment yet. We also taken advantage of there delivery service as well on several occasions. Give it a try

Vile, putrid food. Ordered 4 dishes and ate less than 10% of it because of the horrible taste and awful cooking. Chef has no clue. Even the dog turned down what was left..... Go somewhere else......

Spring rolls Satay chicken with boiked rice. Excellent meal. Ordered and advised would be an hour. It came in less. It was piping hot. Very tasty. Not at all greasy.Very friendly lady took order. Very quick delivery friendly gentle man. Recommended to anyone Thank you.

We live very close to this takeaway and I have got to know well the young couple who run it, Danny and Nicola. Until we moved to our present house some six years ago, I did not enjoy Chinese food very much, but the quality of the food produced there and the wide choices offered have caused me to change my mind. I particularly like their dim sums, which include prawn toasts and spare ribs. However, my special favourites are their various very tasty curries. My only complaint, as I explained to Danny the other day, is that their portions are just too big for us!The takeaway offers a home delivery service, which we have used on occasions and several local friends enjoy the food on offer so much that they have come here on a number of occasions to sample the fare.Highly recommended.

Certainly one of the best takeaways in the area, we live in Backwell but always make the effort to travel down here. Service is friendly and efficient, it’s rare that you have to wait more than about 15 minutes if you phone and pre-order it for collection, although the one time we tried the delivery it was quite a long wait.The sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style is very good indeed, and we usually pair this with the king prawn chow mein and crispy chilli beef. The latter is perhaps not quite as good as it used to be, the last couple of times we’ve had it it has seemed a bit chewy. Definitely worth trying.

we ordered 18 meals in one order and all meals were great and to their normal standard. The whole family were very impressed with the quality, quantity, and service.

Nice people, Food is very typical of most take away's. Some times greasy. Seems to have quite a bit of msg at times. Yeah its ok. Price as you would expect. The food on the whole is like this review, A bit dull. But they are very nice people and will deliver too. if you are close enough. give it a try
