The woman working the front counter was very nice, the food was ready fast, and the portion size was good for the price. I ordered a house fried rice and it tasted very fresh, not too oily. The shrimp were notably very good. I'll definitely be ordering again!

This place was close by loved their steamed chicken and vegetables with the white rice and sauce delicious their chicken fried rice was ok not the best but edible Their egg rolls were not as crunchy as I would have liked Overall 7/10 it's the second closest spot around so definitely will come back to try different things but small decent place parking was good! No problems or complaints there!

Great food and friendly service. The hot & sour soup was delicious, it's always hard to find a place that makes it right. CrabRangoon was stuffed with a lot of crab! Like too much for me, but yummy. Sweet & Sour chicken was yum and so was the kung pao. Will come back to try more because the sea food broil looks amazing and they have a lemon pepper flavor for it! Yum.

All I can say is great food, really nice family, and quick service. I don't like many pick up Chinese places, this place is great. I have tried many different items and my honey and I have been extremely happy with everything. Order and enjoy.

Our first time carryout here and we thought the food was pretty good & had good value: two egg rolls, 2 entrees and a soup for $33 after tax. It's in the small details when they overstuffed our seafood fried rice container ($11), accommodated that I wanted it without soy sauce (I've been on a fried rice kick sans soy sauce lately - it's less sodium and I feel like I could taste ingredients better). I really enjoyed the seafood fried rice. It had calamari, imitation crab meat, shrimp, and onions. It was a perfect blend without too much salt or oil, and to top it of-- the rice was soft. I really dislike it when Asian restaurants make hard rice, or let the rice it too long because you can always tell when the rice is getting stale. My hubby was craving Garlic chicken ( small size for $8). We were quite hungry so we had already began eating before I realized I didn't take pictures of the rest of the food. By the time I took a photo the garlic chicken has already been half eaten. I liked that it had a little zing to it with chili peppers flakes, and has a little sweetness to it which goes perfectly on top of white rice. My favorite part of this dish is that the chicken was moist and soft. I can’t enjoy a dish when the chicken is overcooked as that makes the chicken really dry. They had the perfect big, fat eggrolls - two for $5.25. The homemade apricot sauce was on point -- 10 out of 10. Not too many place have great homemade eggroll sauce offered with eggrolls. And we're not talking about the sweet-and-sour sauce packets. Those are not the same thing! For us Chinese and Asians it's all about the sauce and my husband is super picky about it. That's how you tell it's legit eggrolls. He approves of this sauce. We only wish that they gave us two servings of it versus one because I quickly ate 2/3 of the small sauce container for my eggroll and he wasn't too happy. Lastly, we had the hot and sour soup (large size $6). The ingredient were fine, but I have to say it was too salty and missed a mark on the sour. Finding the right balance makes the sauce for me. I judge a lot of places by their soups. This one was close but I have to take off a star for that. Overall, this was a satisfying meal and it didn't break the bank. We will be back to try more dishes. I saw that on their menu, they have seafood boil, and I'll be interested in checking that out in the future. I also need to remember to take more pictures of food before my hunger sets in.

We tried their food for the first time and will not be back. The food was over salted, small in portion, barely any vegetables or gravy. Egg rolls are large and tasteless, fried potstickers were soggy and fell apart. Terrible experience that will not be repeated. We tried this place because of the reviews and were very disappointed. If it was possible to give less than one star we would.

Try the red-hot fried rice. I always get this whenever I order along with other dishes. I haven't tried the seafood boil yet. But if it anything like the other food it should be delish.

First time using this restaurant. Takeaway was delivered on time and still very hot. Food was well cooked, plentifull and very tasty. Great find, will definately be using again !!

Food was delicious and fresh. The eggs rolls are amazing and huge. We ordered the orange chicken and bao bao platter and everything was great. The chicken was really good.

Great food when Penny is there, the other Girl seems to try and stamp her authority, and she decides what is right, it’s a shame as if Penny doesn’t take the order then we don’t bother, but overall good food and delivered ina timely manner

This Chinese restaurant is one of the best tasting chinese places I've eaten at. They have delicious egg rolls and i always get their sweet and sour chicken! It's always good and i always feel full and satisfied with their food. It's not too greasy and it tastes great! If you're looking for some good chineae food, this is the place! Make sure you ask for chopsticks!

We have been ordering food from Penny and the team for many years. Absolutely amazing food and caring, friendly service. Always hot, fresh and tasty food, arrives on time. Listens to requests/ double checks with you to make sure they get it right. Our favourites (so many) are Crispy king prawns (appetiser) King Prawn Cashew nuts, Plain chow mein, Duck chow mein, Thai rice crackers, Chicken curry, Egg Rice, Chicken Balls, Curry sauce, Roast duck pancakes (with plum sauce & cucumber/spring onion julienne)... everything we've tried we have enjoyed. My favourite takeaway in Weston super mare

Tried these guys tonight for first time and have to say good was excellent. Good portions! Plenty of meat and very tasty. Also excellent customer service, tang to say would be slightly late, when does that ever happen from a takeaway. Best in Weston IMO.

I always enjoy my food from this Chinese and the owner is super friendly and lovely to chat to. The menu is vast and the prices are fair. I usually stop by on my way home and collect my order myself, but have also used the delivery service which is always fast.

This is the second review I have written for the Hong Kong Chef, don't know how any one can have a problem with them, the food is always nice (not over-spiced like some Chinese Takeaways) I have recently been diagnosed as a Coeliac and need to eat Gluten Free, Sook Peng the owner researched all their dishes and delivered a list of things I can have to my home!! Now I call that good service which I appreciate, unlike some whingy whiners who complain because of not getting on order through a stupid computer app

I come to this superb restaurant many times because I like the special air that is outline this place. The personel is extremely friendly and professional. The service is exceptionally rapid. Also, the food they serve is outstanding. I have been there more than once and I was always delighted. The cost is modest. I recommend this restaurant to to everybody.

By far the worst takeaway meal Chinese I’ve had in years will never order here again extremely disappointed over cooked rice hard chicken and gristly overcooked batter couldn’t eat it will be demanding a refund!

I have a shellfish allergy and they refused to serve me on Just Eat I had to ring. I was refused as it takes too long to check the ingredients of a chicken dish , I’ve never had a problem in any Chinese before in my life !Very disappointed would not recommend as many people have allergies and intolerances hence most of the menus now showing these at the side. She told me they turn all customers away . If they had a menu with the allergies next to them it would take 2 seconds to check the ingredients and they would have a lot more customers but she just refused to serve me !Won’t be recommending them to anyone but will be telling all my friends not to bother as all the other restaurants always help and take my order.

This is by far my favorite Chinese place. The food is always good quality, very tasty, and made quickly for you. I've had them deliver and I've gone in for pick up, you just can't go wrong here. The inside is a bit dingy but it's meant for carry out, so don't focus on that. Definitely check out their Lunch and Dinner specials for a meal that's going to give you a good bang for your buck.

Very small, tucked away store front, but great carry-out food. You can order online. Try their food and you'll be back. I've had their beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, egg foo young dinners, and all are great. Crab rangoon side dish is a must try!

Go too place in West Dundee. Great soups and awesome value at lunch and dinner. I always order online and pick up hot food. Give yourself more time than you think as they typically take longer than you would expect. But better to wait a bit than and have hot fresh food.

The Hong Kong Chef take-out Oriental Food Restaurant has since taken over my former favorite place one block away called Gilbert's Chop Suey. They used to have the best Egg Rolls, but with new Ownership/Management the food went downhill. The young Lady that works the Counter has always been super nice and accommodating. I'm glad I found this location on the same parking lot be the Livers Lane store in West Dundee.

This is perhaps the worst chinese food we have ever had. Egg foo young was loaded with regular onions and cabbage. Consistancy of mashed potatoes. Honey chicken was chicken with regular honey in the bottom of the dish. Fried rice was acceptable but an off flavor. Only thing we could eat was sweet and sour combo. The worst experience ever. Everyone was feeling ill after tasting the food.

Friends told us the fried rice was ricooo!! Fabulous! But when we ordered two fried rice menu items, we found they were very average. And in fact, for mariscos, they smelled pretty strong. One of my favorites though, was very good... General Tsau's chicken was very tasty, and I'd reccomend it. Sooo... 3 stars. Sorry.

The sweet and sour chicken was pretty good but the sesame chicken was inedible. It tasted like it was made a week ago and reheated many times. Both the fried rice varieties we tried were flavorless. Egg roll wasn't much better. I will stick to New Hunan...they are 10x better as far as taste.

IMO, this is the best asian restaurant around Dundee! Their egg rolls MASSIVE and delicious! (I'm talking as big as my wrist massive) The food is really good and usually pretty good at getting it together quick. Delivery is always good too!

Best Chinese take out i have ever tried!!!!

We've been looking for a good place in the area. After many dollars spent only to be disappointed yet again. Our search is over! This is the most amazing food I've ever had. Hand made egg rolls off the charts! Hand made crab Rangoon.....the best I've ever had! This place is the holy grail of authentic Chinese cuisine! I will never be going anywhere else..... this place is phenomenal!! Thank you for a most enjoyable dinner and prices are spot on.

I love the cood from Hong Kong Chef. My food was delicious and delivered hot. The price is actually a ittle better than a few takeout places we have tried on Randall Rd. We will definitely return!

We order the half crispy duck & pancakes often & are never disappointed. The staff are friendly & helpful & the food is tasty & fresh. This is a lovely take away.

New Ownership = Bad food. This place used to be awesome, but ever since the place changed ownership, the quality's gone totally downhill. I was very disappointed the last few times I tried this place. I'd rather go to the Pander Express up the street now.

It's been a while since i tried this place and it was a pleasant surprise that the quality and service hasn't changed. The food was ready as promised, delicious and corteous people. They tried to even accommodate my special requests (I like my egg foo young gravy on the side). Try this place, you'll love it! 1/29/09.
