Food was lovely, big portions and great quality! Nice timing between starter and main. Service was fab, friendly and would 100% dine here again.

Amazing place! The food was delicious with massive portions. Friendly staff. Only downside is that we were the only people there (it was a Wednesday evening). It’s such a shame more people aren’t going as this was too quality Chinese food!!

A fantastic local Chinese restaurant with traditional setting. This is by far, the best Cantonese cuisine in Padiham. I could take my Chinese parents here and they would say it’s traditional, tasty and good value. If they could have ac in the summer, that would be fab.

Get told it will take 30 minutes for the takeaway to be ready. Arrive at 30 minutes, then have to sit and wait for another 15 minutes for food to come out. Food good but small portions and over-priced for what you get.

We’ve been a couple of times to eat in and also taken out before. Food is always amazing, especially the crispy beef. Service is always good but they could do with another couple of waiters/ waitresses on the busy nights to make things run smoothly.

Just ordered.. if i could give zero star i would! I specifically asked for well done chicken fried rice to the point of being overcooked.. it looks raw and chicken or rice hardly cooked. I've had to cook it myself to make it edible. £34 for 2 people take away is scandalous, i couldnt just bin it at that price. Won't be returning

I picked up a takeaway from this restaurant. It's very old fashioned inside but the price wasn't! I was a bit disappointed to be honest. The salt and pepper chicken wings were greasy and my main dish didn't have enough sauce and was mainly vegetables.

Went with work for a group meal. There was 14 of us. Absolutely amazing service. Food was exquisite. I had the vegetarian spring rolls for starter and vegetarian chow mein (minus mushrooms) with salt and pepper chips for main. I could not finish it all and took much of it home. Nothing goes to waste. I would like to thank 'Conner' he was one of our waiters, he was polite, pleasant and made us laugh. Lovely lad. I definitely recommend this restaurant. 5 stars for all.

First time here 4 of us went had a really lovely tea will be coming back. Food was great service and staff great. Price was reasonable too.

since covid it hasn't been as popular which is why the atmosphere isn't the best but that's not a restaurant is for. If you want atmosphere go watch arsenal at the emirates. Anyway, Summer palace is a brilliant place to dine with your partner or have a lovley 3 course meal with friends. The food is fresh and cooked to order unlike some places in this modern day. Out of three taps they only have one beer on tap which is the Sunlik which makes up for the other two. This is the best larger alcoholic beverage I have ever had in a long time. They also offer a takeaway c; considering they only have a few members of staff is good going! The staff are really friendly and Sammy (the owner) is the soundest lad I've ever met in my life. 34 now he is getting on abit now though haha. The food manages to stay warm for hours which is ideal for people like me that likes to home after not managing the potions they give me and finish it in front of the tv. Overall its a brilliant place to wine and dine with friends and family If you haven't been here i would defiantly recommend trying. The staff are like your best friends here which makes it a welcoming environment rather than waiter/waitress/waitthey server that is shy.

The place was pretty much empty when I arrived so there wasn't much atmosphere at all, but that could have been the time of day. I started with some Dim Sum which consisted of some Sui Mai and some Har Gow. They came in a bamboo steamer and were fresh and delicious. Next I had some Ribs in Cantonese Sauce. These were lightly battered and drenched in sweet sticky sauce. The batter gave a nice crisp coating and there was plenty of meat to go at. I really enjoyed these. For my main I had Chicken in Sweet and Chilli Sauce with boiled rice it was really tasty. I would have liked a bit more fire from the chillis but it was still very nice.

I went to summer palace today for a meal with my boyfriend. The tables were set out very nicely, the man serving us was lovely and the food was amazing. definitely recommend

We have had this Chinese many times and have a had a good experience for the most part. So on this occasion we decided to order in. We ordered via on online menu and when the food arrived we were shocked at the price, it was nearly double, this would have been fine if there had been an updated menu anywhere! We paid the bill, and got out the food and had there been substantial amounts I would have been fine with the price, the the price was doubled and the portions were halved! Salt and pepper chips which were going to be shared barely had one portion in and the contained a poultry amount of what was ordered. We complained on the phone, and was explained that it was 'measured out' but if it was it was measured out, not much was. We then did not receive an apology or any consolation, we did not want to send it all back, nor a free meal offered, but a simple acknowledgment or an explanation beyond 'measured out'. It's a shame because if I ate in we would have gotten a far better portion for the same price! Very disappointed!

Visited Thursday 15/12/22 after 10 years and was underwhelmed and a bit disappointed. I Had phoned the Sunday before to 'reserve' as I thought they may be busy..Man gave impression they were. Got there and there were only 2 other diners in! We sat next to a radiator that wasn't on?! Bearing in mind it was minus 3 outside.I went to the loo and noticed that the radiator there was on. What bad luck on our part for sitting where we sat. Anyway the waiter was pleasant enough and the food was fairly enjoyable. The mushroom fried rice portion was huge. My companion wanted a certain drink,they didn't have it.He wanted chicken samosas,they only had veg.. We ordered Dim sum which fair enough he did say would be a while.But waited ages for the soup and samosas. Seems to have dropped off considerably since I last visited.It seemed bigger then,more inviting and service was top notch.This had formally been the Emperor which was outstanding in terms of quality and hospitality..So It had a lot to live up to. But I was impressed.But last night,It was lacking for me. They didn't even serve coffee?!!! Which was really disappointing. I won't be returning.The heating situation was really poor..It wasn't as if it was the height of summer! Maybe I'd leave it till then.But as I say I think there are better Chinese restaurants.

Visited with family to celebrate our daughters 13th birthday. The food and service was impeccable, the waiting staff are attentive and all cleared our plates! The portions of egg fried rice are huge, so defo share! Yes the decor is tired as some other mentioned, but the food is amazing! Only down side is the price was £4.50 for a large diet coke, only 40p cheaper than a beer! But didn't ruin a lovely night.

6 of us celebrated our friend's birthday with a meal. Plenty of food and we all enjoyed the whole evening. Staff were handy if we needed anything. A generous taste of the beer to see if we liked it too.

Visiting family in the area, found the food to be of a very good quality and good sized portions. Service very good, friendly and attentive.

Had a fantastic meal on Sunday, we had a large party including children,everyone had different starters and mains however the food all arrived at the same time, fresh,full of flavour served by fastaff. Good selection of well priced drinks as well. We were more then happy at the end, made the occasion special.

Absolutely dreadful.. Been enjoying dining and taking away for many years. Tonight experience was one that assures that we won't be returning.. all food was appalling... very unhappy.

Came for a quick meal out with my partner this evening. First time visiting. Started off with a complimentary little dish of prawn crackers and got our drinks. The only lager on tap was Sun Lik. Which was pretty flat (it's not an overly carbonated lager in the first place). And my partner had an orangeade. £4.50 for an unbranded orangeade is definitely overpriced. We ordered a sharing starter. Which was worded like it was £8.50. However when we asked for the bill it was £8.50 per head. For that you get one spare rib, two very small crispy won tons, a char sui roll and a couple of forkfuls of seaweed (Savoy cabbage). I asked for the spiciest dish they did, I've forgotten the name of it as I'm typing this. But had it with Char Siu. And a portion of noodles with fresh chillies. My partner had chicken hoisin and unspiced noodles. Waiting times for the main seemed initially good. However my chilli noodles came out by themselves, then after another couple of minutes my main dish came out on a "sizzler" plate/skillet. No idea why this is a thing, but anyway.... I was waiting for my partner's meal to be brought to the table. And about another five minutes had passed. Then her noodle's get brought to the table. Then yet another delay of her chicken hoisin, which got taken to two other tables by accident before it finally reached us. By this time my noodles were cold. And my sizzler main had no sauce, and charred veg from sitting on the skillet for so long. I was not happy in the slightest. However my partner is literally nine months pregnant, and did not want me to say anything! Positive points. The waitress who initially taken out order was polite enough. The starter was okay, but over priced. The waiter who brought my partner's dish when it finally came out apologised and was decent about the mistake (the terrible timing of the meals leaving the kitchen wasn't his fault). The quality of the dishes were mediocre. Negatives. One beer on tap which wasn't great. Way overpriced unbranded orangeade for my pregnant partner. The way the sharing starter is worded is misleading. Terrible timing of bringing the mains out. It was around ten minutes of me getting my noodle's, then main, then my partner and I sat awkwardly waiting for hers to arrive as I wouldn't start eating without her. Then she gets brought noodles without her main. And we have to wait a few more minutes again for her main to come out (and get brought to the correct table) By which time my noodles are cold, and main dish is dry and charred. I waited that long we just wanted to eat, and not say anything... So we were £60 in for this experience. Sorry, but we definitely will not be coming back. I'm being generous with two stars

Not been to this restaurant for over two years due to Covid and I must say we were not disappointed. Sammy and his staff were just as professional as ever, excellent customer service. The best Chinese restaurant in the area, superb food & excellent service. Will definitely be returning 🤗

20 minutes late and threw most of it away. Absolutely awful food. Lettuce in the chicken wings, no flavour at all in any dish. We’ll never come back again.

Great food helpful friendly staff

I've frequented here previously - but never again. Today I paid short of £30 (including delivery) to receive very mediocre food. The main course was bright orange and the chicken dish was mainly carrots. Disappointing, it used to be so good. Time for a overall; otherwise the competition will step in to what used to be an excellent place for takeaway & dine in food.

Great to have a meal back in the restaurant after covid restrictions. Not quite back to the full menu, but the food was just as good as ever. Best chicken chow mein for miles. Generous portions, lovely atmosphere and fantastic staff.

Had a takeaway last week which left me disappointed! My wife had chicken with a lemon and honey sauce which she said was delicious. I had beef with green peppers and black bean sauce. The rice and sauce were very tasty and well cooked, unfortunately the beef was tough, chewy and with half of it totally inedible. It seems a shame that restaurants and takeaways do not vet the quality of the meat being supplied before serving it up to unsuspecting customers! I was also shocked to be informed that delivery was £6 when I was already being charged £18.50 for the two meals!

Just ordered chicken fried rice and it's absolutely disgusting 🤮 100 percent the chicken is frozen befor cooked. Honestly i won't ever go here again and £3 for prawn crackers 🤔😳😆 absolute joke. Only came here as chows kitchen is closed on Tuesdays. Waste of £11. 30min wait for collection then another 20 minute wait once their. Absolute shambles of a business

Simply excellent Chinese food! In my experience a good Chinese takeaway is actually a very rare find. Chinese food is so often greasy and over-flavoured - not so at the summer palace! We have tried many of the Chinese takeaways in Padiham and yet over the last three years we keep coming back to summer palace simply because of the quality of the food. Service is generally very friendly, especially so recently. We live locally and always choose takeout, because the restraunt’s decor itself is a bit shabby: the lighting is quite harsh, there is yellow high vis tape tying things together and it feels like it hasn’t been refurbed in 20 years. But we don’t care! The takeaway food is thoroughly excellent, and so we keep going back (despite the slightly higher prices) and we want this business to thrive and succeed.

Can't beat this for a Chinese the only one I use

Previously ordered a mixed starter but swapped out spring roles for something else as no one likes them. Tonight they suddenly cant do the changes. After saying it could be done before was told to order it all individually if i didnt want the rolls. Unhelpful and erratic in customer service.

Busy weekend due to CNY and Valentines day no doubt. Nonetheless the best Chinese Takeaway I have had in years. We took the set meal and every element was delicious. Special mention to the delicious ribs though!

Amazing best Chinese I’ve ever had in my entire life cured the hangover in seconds

If I could leave no stars I would! Avoid at all cost..... we ordered from here last night, food arrived over 40 minutes late and it was stone cold and portion sizes extremely small £30 worth of food gone to waste!!! When we called the management we extremely rude saying it was delivered in a heat proof bag. It actually wasn't it was delivered in a cardboard box and to add insult to injury we were charged 4 pound for delivery. I certainly will not be returning.

Been using this place since it opened an can say iv never had a bad meal here or take away! They can get a bit busy an yes you are waiting a little longer for your food when busy which is understandable! Large Extensive menu with good choices off beers an wines! Would recommend

Absolute Rubbish Takeaway!Chicken & Cashew nuts with Celery pieces in it!?Beef in Plum sauce only half portion!Sweet & sour ribs was awful! No actual ribs only ends with hardly any meat.Different chef?A total waste of money!Will not be ordering again!

We ordered takeaway at 5.55pm on a Saturday for 7.30pm delivery, it arrived lukewarm at 8.20pm , with apologies, but they still had the audacity to charge £4.50 for delivery. Will not be using them again.

Poor quality take away food, first since lockdown from here. Pork ribs scrawny and bacon not pork. Sweet and sour pork tough as old boots, lemon chicken not whole lemon breast as usual, prawn toast thin.... Not your usual high standard. Will be using our village Chinese in the future

Me and a friend ordered a takeaway from here a few weeks ago and again the other day, both times I havnt been disappointed with the quality of food or anything else for that matter. Will be ordering from here again in the near future.

Ordered a takeaway from here with the family as we have recently moved to the area, we tried a few Chinese restaurants but this one really stood out, the staff were friendly and service was great there was a slight wait as they explained they was busy but definitely worth it, we ordered the salt and pepper chicken fillets as one of our main dishes and they was crispy and well seasoned some of the best ones I have tried. This has definitely become our new local and will be back.

Ordered from here last night and the food didn’t look good when it arrived. Gave it the benefit of the doubt and ate it anyway. Really wish I wouldn’t have as ive spent all night hugging the toilet! Avoid at all cost!

I used this restaurant a couple of times last year (2019) whilst working away from home.Both times the food was really great and the waiter/owner was really friendly and inviting.I arrived fairly early on both occasions but it soon filled up with what appeared to be regulars.The food being served to other diners also looked great so I would suspect that its quite a good local haunt for those in the know!Great place, great food.

We came across this place by chance it was quite late in the evening and thought we would give it a try it was quite busy but we was seated straight away the staff were very welcoming and friendly the menu has a variety of choice and there was something for everyone, there was abit of a wait on the food to arrive but once arrived it was worth the wait, the food was hot and tasted fresh extremely good value for money we will be returning!

Tough ribs not cooked in Hoi Sin Sauce but only for last minute Tough chicken wings with tough legs included. Main course lemon King Prawns were Prawns in batter. Should not be battered. Waiter never came to ask if the food was OK, he kept a low profile. This was Thursday 23 Jan 2020. Its gone off due to under staffing or change in lazy chef. That's me finished, Gordon Thomas.

Great food great prices excellent service

Went in for the first time tonight after asking if they do gluten free food. The food they provided was excellent and of course gluten free. Special mention to Leah who was fab. Will definitely use again.

I attended this establishment for my son's pre-21st birthday meal along with three of his siblings. We had attended a birthday event at Blackpool and I searched for Chinese restaurants (a favourite choice for all of us) en route from there back to our home town. Having read the reviews for so so many such restaurants along that journey, I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and other 'reputable' sources and opted for Summer Palace.I don't believe that I could have made a better choice! The restaurant is fairly small but delightfully pleasant and well laid-out and the tables are sufficiently separated so that each 'party' in attendance has their own space; nearby parking is very adequate. There ends the description of the venue and its surrounds!The menus were plentiful and competitively-priced and we were not rushed into making our choices ~ indeed, one of the gentlemen serving us gave advice as to which option of crab would be the better starter choice for one of my guests. Those starters were served with an acceptable delay although, the only very limited down point, was that the 'crab option' was served two to three minutes after the other starters; this did not detract sufficiently to make it a 'complaint'!When we had placed our orders for our main meals, further advice was given as to which 'accompaniments' should be ordered; not, as I have experienced in other restaurants, one for every meal ordered. When the main meals arrived, they were superbly presented, excellently served (on time) and were delicious ~ only one of my company managed to finish all of his meal (there is always one greedy sod!). All of the recommended 'accompaniments' were sufficient and, with the exception of around seven chips, all were consumed. The uneaten food was packaged for us to take home with us. I could not give higher praise for the food, the prices and the presentation.Finally, the staff of the restaurant (and I accept that this has already been an extended review). They were happy to serve us, they were keen to ensure that we were fully attended to, they were pleased to give advice, where requested, and they were willing to spend sufficient time in conversation with us to make our visit yet more enjoyable.I have no hesitation in giving this restaurant the fullest recommendation that I could give and I will be posting this exact review on TripAdvisor. Suffice to say that, despite a 40+ mile round trip, we will be returning to eat here again. Thank you, Summer Palace. :)

Rang up last minute and they managed to fit me and friend in, the food was absolutely beautiful and the staff were so accommodating and lovely, the price is also definitely good value for money too

This was one of my favourite places for Chinese, the food is great, and always first class. but on this one occasion the service left a lot to be desired. we got our food after 1 hours wait while the take away orders were flowing fast, I understand if that is the priority and most of their business is that way , but i thought we could have jumped the queue a little, or something like an explanation or any apology would have helped. the food was still good as always .

Started using this place about 6 years ago now and I can honestly say I've never had better anywhere else. You haven't had ribs until you have had Summer Palace bbq ribs. The meat is as tender as it comes. Sam and the team are very friendly and we always feel very welcome whether we're eating in or just grabbing a take out. If you want great Cantonese food this is where I would be going. In fact I'm about to place an order now.

Decided to eat here for a friends birthday. We arrived early (10 minutes after opening time) to find an empty restaurant. We were served quickly and professionally. As we were the only diners, it was very quiet but this changed as the evening progressed...by the time we were leaving, the atmosphere was starting to pick up.The food was very very good, and a good sized portion. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. Would recommend for a casual dining experience with good food and a reasonable price.

The best chinese food we have ever had. To start we had the sharing platter, everything was so fresh and tasty. For our mains we had deep fried chicken in satay sauce, deep fried pork in garlic sauce (which wasn't on the menu but they made it for us), salt and pepper chips and egg fried rice. It all tasted amazing. I couldn't fault it in anyway. The service is impeccable. Couldn't recommend going here more!

Went yesterday evening for my husband's Birthday - lovely food and very pleasant service. Slightly slow on starters but delicious.

Delicious food, large portions, great service. What more can you ask for? Having learnt from previous visits, we decided not to have a starter as the generous portion sizes of the main courses have meant we couldn't eat it all. But we still had the same problem! Thankfully the friendly staff are happy to pack leftovers into foil trays to take home. So that was the next day's main meal sorted too. We will definitely be back.

Out of the 5 dishes we had 1 was excellent, 3 okay, 1 poor. Overall not bad on the food side, but place has zero atmosphere and it’s all very dull and drab inside. Service was pleasant & attentive.

My family enjoyed a lovely meal there on 26 May 2019. The service was fast, service was good and the food was excellent. The bill was a pleasant surprise and we even managed to get the owner to show us how best to use chopsticks.

Went as a group of six to celebrate my daughter's birthday. There were about five tables already seated when we arrived. Waited 30 minutes to give our order. Waited another 30 minutes for our starters. After being seated 2 hours and not yet received our main courses I decided to cancel having already raised concerns about the length of time. When I spoke to the head waiter his answer was that he: ' Did have other customers to serve'. The problem was that he was understaffed yet was still taking 'Take Away' orders whilst his seated customers were left waiting.

Never had a bad meal here, always delicious, quick and friendly service. Can't fault it

Went here on an off chance we'd get a seat, it was Tues so we were hopeful & not disappointed. My friend lives in Padiham, so it was only a short walk around the corner. We had the mid week offer, 2 children's meals & a crispy duck meal. The food is the best Chinese I've ever eaten, I love in Hull & we have many, many Chinese takeaways /restaurants, but I have never had one as nice as here. The starter of prawn toast was light & tasty with no grease at all & a lovely dipping sauce. I had king prawns in pepper sauce & it was just the best, so tasty. The duck rolls were perfect & when we run out of wraps, we were brought some more. I left feeling content, not over full. We even were given some chop sticks to eat our meal if we wanted to. It was a quiet place but had a steady stream of customers, I expect weekends are a lot busier. Good value for money & great service. When I'm back in Padiham I'll most definitely be back x

I started going here a few months ago. The Food is lovely with plenty of choice & is reasonably priced. I particularly like the Special Menu between Tue-Thu for £11.99 for 2 Courses.

We had a lovely evening here. A party of six of us were looked after impeccably by management and staff. Food quality was very good and the bill, with plenty of drinks was exceptionally good value at under £145. We had the set meal for six. Will definitely return here.

My parents and I went to The Summer Palace and had the midweek special menu on a Thursday night and I don't need to be a black belt in Ikea to tell you our visit was a knockout. Truly the food was first class fresh, large portions and great service. We have been before and enjoyed the food and we will be back very soon.

Very very poor survive food is good though. To intrestted in take away food orders and not the people that are paying more too sit down very disappointed. Wouldn't go again even if it was free .

Extremely disappointed with mediocre expensive takeaway from the most expensive chinese in town. Fried rice tasted like it had only been waved over the pan. Overloaded with onions and peppers. Deliveru charge for a distance of around 1/2 mile £3.50 exorbitant. Total meal cost over £7 more than my usual takeaway only went here because usual one was closed won't be going again
