Summat to Ate Steak Restaurant & Function Rooms in Wigan

Visiting some friends who are locals and they took us here. Great steak, and highly recommend the peppercorn sauce with it.

Food and service absolutely awesome

Food was lovely but the Restaurant was too full and too noisy. Staff nice but took 1 hour to get main Menue.

First timers... and wanted a decent meal. The service was fast and responsive, but it was 6pm on a Friday. The menu has a great selection from starters to Mains and steaks. The food was hot to the table, freshly cooked and very tasty. For non drinkers they serve peroni Zero. Overall is was really nice.

Excellent all round, food ,drinks, service. Went on a Monday night and was great value for money. Will definitely return.

Absolutely amazing food couldn't find fault with any of the food. We went as a party of 12 and everyone loved the food. They have a very good well thought out menu a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.

The food was mediocre. I prefer miller and carter, same price but better quality.

First time there. Beautiful food, service could have been better but if was busy. Far too many tables for the size of room meant very noisy. I would go again at a quieter time.

Partners steak and chips they did well after some good starters. Had Lamb stew beware very salty after arrival home needed water and have to say poor Lamb content in the stew .Should have spoke up in restaurant! Would go back but probably for Steak !

Tasted good but soon as got home me and the Mrs threw up. Gutted really as wanted to go here for years finally did and had bad experience. The staff were lovely and couldn't be better. The venues stunning with a lovely atmosphere

You are alway sure of a very good meal although the mid week offer have a lot of vital extra costs.so be careful with the reading of the menu. My only negative is that at busy times it very noisy and conversation is sometimes done with raised voices .

Great place for Sunday lunch. Roast dinners and also other things on the menu. Really delicious steak pie, recommend!!

I was a bit miffed I was given a £25 voucher for my birthday in July , to tell me it had expired in November, I never thought to look at the back, normally a voucher is 12 months not 4. They have had the money after all . But the food was lovely .

I'm a DJ and did an 18th Birthday party at summat to ate on 20th Dec 2024. I did the smaller room , there is a larger suite on floor 2 . The place is immaculate , perfect dance floor for more intimate groups of around 50 people . Lovely bar with superb staff who are very helpful and friendly. Nice lighting and tastefully decorated....The restaurant looks lovely and has a very good reputation for superb steaks and quality menu.... This is my first time visiting this beautiful place.it was a surprise 50th meal for my partner from his kids.absolutely amazing.we had the Xmas menu meal which was absolutely perfect in every way. The place was packed as it's Xmas celebration time but I must say the staff are so friendly and polite. They kept smiling despite how busy it became.will definitely be back just to try the normal menu . Would highly recommend this place to everyone.the chefs did an amazing job with the food .they even changed A meal for us as one of our party has food issues(autistic). absolutely outstanding and worth every penny.well done guys.

nothing to eat... went for a Christmas buffet, 1 or 2 egg mayo sandwiches and pigs in blankets made from 120% bacon fat.

We were very lucky that they fitted us in on a Sunday at short notice because another booking we made elsewhere fell through. What a fantastic place! Food was absolutely faultless, so was the service for our table of 8. We all had 3 courses and enjoyed it all. Beautifully presented, best roast beef i have had in ages. We visited the restaurant for steak lunch on Friday afternoon. We were very satisfied with the quality of meat and the staff service. Very pleasant indeed. We are a returning customer and will be for a long time. The restaurant is absolutely a gem in Hindley ❣️

Food was just ok. Baby rib starter were really good but mushroom starter was very bland & lamb shewers overcooked. Cod main was ok but 2 beef shin mains were mediocre. Hot rock fillet was ok but had better steaks. All in all a bit disappointed & wasn't cheap.. £170 for 4 people with no sweets & only 2 pints with rest soft drinks. Sorry but won't be going back in a hurry

We visited last Sunday on the way through to an overnight stay 30 minutes away from the restaurant, it was a must for us as we had seen some amazing reviews online for this place. With the restaurant sadly 3.5 hours from home we knew we had to try it and we were not disappointed!! My roast was nothing short of amazing, I added cauliflower cheese and WOW. The dessert was incredible, staff even kindly put a candle in it for my birthday. The roast was the nicest, tastiest roast I’ve ever had including the Cauliflower cheese. Everything was faultless, it had so much flavour and value for money on the Sunday lunch menu is brilliant. If we’re ever out this way again then we will absolutely be visiting again in a heart beat. The only thing which was disappointing is the fact you’re so far away from home.

Took my family here for my mother inlaws birthday everyone loved it food is so tasty I'd highly recommend It to anyone perfect for kids and adults

Brilliant restaurant and a great steak!

We had such a wonderful meal here yesterday. We had the unlimited menu. The steak was divine and the sides were so tasty. The caulicheese was absolute chefs kiss. Staff were so attentive and friendly. We were asked repeatedly if we wanted further orders of any items and never felt like we had to look for anyone at all. Thank you for a fab evening! Would definitely recommend and will definitely visit again!

Nice room for a wedding but very overpriced for beer in Hindley 6.50 a pint for posh gassy rubbish so on cans of Guinness again well overpriced for a can Still a one off so made most of it and had a great night

Friendly and attentive staff. Nice clean restaurant with a stylish indoor blossom tree. I think it's mainly a pizza place but they do other dishes too. I had the calamari which was brilliant, and a pepperoni pizza for my main. The pizza was ok, but not amazing. For dessert we all tired the boozy tiramisu. It was ok, unfortunately mine had no booze in it. Nice place, but doesn't reach the mark entirely for me

Never had a bad meal here. Service is always great, and the food is amazing. Great variety of dishes to please everyone on the Sunday menu and an excellent price. We will be back 😎

Well presented, well tasty and well within budget. The service was excellent too. If I had to pick a negative, it’d be that we needed more napkins or that the sound in the room carries and made it quite noisy. Otherwise no complaints at all.

Party of 25 all went smoothly🤣, servers where nice and friendly expecially 1 young man who made sure we had everything that we had pre ordered, even took individual payments at the end for us, credit to your business, we all opted for the Sunday menu, 25 empty plates food was excellent portion sizes good sticky toffee pudding huge, highly recommend this place will definitely be going back😊

I’ve only ever been twice, the first time we was waiting well over an hour for our food and our kids started to get really agitated but I just put this down to them probably being busy and wouldn’t happen again. Second time we had pre booked and pre ordered our food weeks in advance for the starters to arrive and they literally brought 1 starter out and completely forgot the rest meaning we had to wait half an hour for the rest of the starters to arrive and my father in law had to eat his and wait for us all to get ours. I really wouldn’t have expected this especially with us pre ordering weeks in advance. Then my sister in law told the waitress not to mention the cake to anyone but her as it was a surprise and then went to my mother in law who the cake was for and asked if she wanted the cake yet, overall it’s not really made me want to go back.

We booked a wedding at this venue and paid a 300 deposit and 550 of the room. Unfortunately my partners divorce wouldn’t be through in time and we spoke to the venue to cancel it. We understood that we would loose our deposit but they are refusing to give us back anything extra that we have paid even after explaining we are having to re book and pay all over again. They have literally made 900 pound and done no work and planes for anything. The staff just say no you’re not entitled to anything back goodbye. Don’t book here not helpful and take what they can from you.

Really enjoyed this place and will definitely be going back. We had the steak and the lamb, both excellent (steak was served on the hot rock so you can cook it to how you like it). The biscoff creme brulee for dessert was superb, will be ordering again! Apparently, the same owners have 'Dough' the pizza restaurant across the road so we'll be trying that very soon too.

We visited here last night and I have to say it was excellent. It may be a bit pricey but worth it. Staff were very attentive. My partner and I both had the mushroom and garlic soup which, as mushroom lovers, was definitely up to our standard (lol) we then had the fillet steak. I know their signature is to cook your own but we asked for ours to be cooked by the chef. Staff more than happy to do this and we were not disappointed. We didnt have room for dessert but managed some ice cream which again was lovely. Highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back.

Wow wow wow. Again another amazing meal. Sunday dinner is a right of passage at many restaurants and Kai and the whole team have created the best Sunday lunch in the North. Possibly the UK We have eaten Sunday dinner everywhere but nothing has topped this. This place is a secret gem. Whilst the prices are very reasonable I do always go on a Friday for the steak lunch deal. Literally no complaints.

Me and my husband went there as we had heard good things. We had starters which were nice but nothing great. We each ordered a T Bone steak, both steaks came absolutely drenched in oil I don’t understand how you can deep fry a steak but somehow it was made possible, the seasoning was basic pepper not even crushed black pepper and the peppercorn sauce was just gravy and peppercorns. The waitress was polite and offered us an alternative which was a steak on a hot rock, this again was drenched in oil and half way cooked by the time it came to our table - we like our steak medium rare so we didn’t get to experience the “cook your own”. Overall very disappointed, our bill was £100 which is overpriced for the pub quality food you get and considering it’s called a steak house but no one there knows how to cook a steak.

We come here often and the service is normally great, however this time flyn and emily were exceptional. Both of them ahve really made our night and they have been so helpful and smiley even on a warm Saturday night. We 100% recommend you guys come here and soo these two should definitely get a pay rise or at least recognition for their service, it is not often you get waiters like this.

First visit to Summat to Ate today for father's day. What an overall great experience. Service was very good with lovely staff who were very attentive and friendly and always available. Food was great too, all of us where left full to the brim after starters, mains and desserts. If there was anything I would comment negatively on, it would be having a better (steak knife) and the Music was a little too loud. Apart from those 2 small points we all really enjoyed the visit.

Went for a meal last night thought I would try a rack of lamb off the changed menu it said served pink i asked waitress to tell chef to do it medium rare but when it came it was still bleating if I gave it a transfusion it would have got up off my plate .staff very polite happy and helpful.food and beer overpriced I think I will give it a wide berth in future if you order a rack of lamb expect it to be very very rare.

Went for the first time recently and was thoroughly impressed. There's parking quite nearby and the place is lovely and open on the inside. There's excellent selection on the menu and the food is some of the best I've had. The wait times were rapid and the staff were all attentive, pleasant, and knowledgeable. It's certainly not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. Highly recommend.

DO NOT GO HERE! Staff are awful, very young, which wouldn't be a problem if they weren't so rude, moody and incompetent. Food is overpriced. Can get much better quality and portion sizes elsewhere for much cheaper.

I chose that restaurant as I wanted a good big steak. But my rib eye steak wasn't as good as I expected. And it was very very loud inside restaurant. I don't think I will be back there.

turned up with partner in past. on recommendations. wanted my steak well cooked. told staff...and was informed no cook on site that night?! then they brought out a warm brick with slap of basicly raw steak on it for the brick to cook! it didn't cook. partner same situation but with chicken minus the brick. It was raw .sent it back and it came back with garlic on when she asked for plain chicken. so had go back again until she received what she asked for. !! never ever again ! might of been a bad day but never again!!!

Couldn't recommend this place highly enough. 20 people to celebrate my mum's 80th birthday. Staff were attentive, venue was perfect and food was delicious, enjoyed by all! Thank you Summat to Ate for making my mum's day so enjoyable

What a great place. The menu is very extensive and there are deals to be had for Sunday and weekday lunches. The service was impeccable and the food quality and quantity was superb. They also have a function room available for hire.

I went there today for my 18th birthday, lovely steak, they sold me pint without asking for ID, shocking, aside that, it was good.

Was pretty good, steak was lovely and the staff were friendly attentive, marked the food down slightly because my partners stack was not great..

The food was good, highly recommend the mushroom starter. The restaurant was incredibly loud, however I know this can’t be helped. The biggest downside, we had a reservation for 18:45, but we weren’t seated till 19:20 and then had our starters by 19:45. If a reservation is made, then a half hour wait isn’t expected. The mains were of good quality and they have quite a few options, could do with some more vegetarian options on the weekday/Sunday deals.

Fantastic food and service. Cannot recommend enough!

Never normally had a problem with this place but today was something else. Took my mum out for some food as we both work opposite shifts and had a rare day off together. Seated under air conditioning unit which was turned on, so was freezing cold, on an already cold day. Was sat for 15 mins before anyone came to take drinks order, wouldn't normally be bothered, however was relitavely quiet. My mum ordered Scallops, she stated to me that they felt weirdly mushy, however had never had them before so just put that down to a learning experience. I had the chicken liver pate to start, no complaints however, more bread would be lovely as I was left with half a lump of pate sitting on the plate after only being given 3 pieces to put it on. Mum ordered chicken supreme for her main, the chicken was pink on the inside but did not realise this until after a few bites so she just put the plate to the side. I ordered the 6oz hot rock steak, no problems with steak, however the chips looked like they felt quite sorry for themselves and were partially cooked. At this point, my mum felt very nauseous and like she was going to vomit, so just paid the bill and left as didn't want to deal with the hassle of complaining whilst my mum felt so ill. Awful experience, after going here for the last 5 years, I won't be going back again. £50 down the drain.

Nice decor and busy place but tables were too close and had my chair kicked every time a waitress went past. Ordered from an old menu with out of date prices, house rose wine was like vinegar so sent it back and got white wine with flat tesco lemonade which we were charged extra for. Onion rings were undercooked with raw batter and red wine jus tasted like gravy granules with red wine. Steak was delicious and chips were great though. However, cooking on a hot slab infront of your face meant steamy cheeks and steak odours. Would slabs in middle of table be better? Sadly, would not recommend nor return.

Best steak in area . Reasonably priced for unique experience . Catered for 7 (2 adults 5 kids) and paid £140. Definately going to be paying another visit soon

Came for lunch friday 23rd feb , I've never tasted steak like it. We only had to wait 5-6 minutes for our table. We ordered our food and came quite quick, the service was great and we wasn't pestered, my only complaint it was pepsi max out of a bottle and it was a little flat. But still give it 5* for everything and would definitely recommend

The food was good ! The experience of cooking your meat exactly how you like on a hot rock is amazing! The stuff by the other side is rushing you ! In my opinion they are young and not knowing what they supposed to be in their role ! I felt rushed to finish everything as soon as possible just to leave and make some space for the next customers! I booked a table for 20:45 and we need to wait an extra 15 min to get the table ! Even like this the personal just point the table for us and they just said: “go to that table over there” ! I usually give tips for this kind of service but this time I left nothing as the personal out there was unprofessional!

Absolutely beautiful venue and nice staff just one problem the hot drink situation I was at an event in the function room asked for coffee was told I had to get from downstairs so I had to go downstairs back on to the street in threw another door to get a coffee then carry back upstairs Then during the break I went back downstairs to get a coffee to find the bar/restaurant had closed at 9pm so I couldn't get a drink Now due to medical reasons I currently can't have fizzy pop and am unable to drink cordial due to sugar content I also don't drink alcohol I myself run a bar/function room so I can't understand why hot drinks are not on offer in both bars

A massive thank you to Kai, Rachael and their staff for hosting the Wake for Darren yesterday (1st Feb). Their professionalism, attentiveness and ability to adapt to last minute changes shone through. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone went above and beyond what was expected of them. Always an enjoyable meal here, hot rock steaks are great, and although busy the atmosphere is always nice. Quick service and meals were given on the table very quickly.

Our 12 year old son wanted to go for his birthday recently and boy oh boy what a culinary treat we all had. The food was exceptional, the service impeccable and the price for such quality was amazing. Do give them a go and support your local restaurant, it's WELL WORTH a visit for any occasion or just a treat, you WON'T be disappointed.

Hi just been to summat to eat booked on 8 of us but 1 had covid so told them not to come and protect the other clients so explained this to manager she then said he has lost his deposit but I told her he didn't come to protect her clients she wasn't bothered her attitude was shocking just to save a tenner.staff was not very professional all young (probably students minimum wage) food was alright but over priced needless to say won't be going back there anytime soon.

Absolutely lovely place to eat. I love the hot rock steaks. The service was superb, Lewis was very professional, attentive and very knowledgeable on the food / menu. Any question we asked , he answered very easily and with confidence. Would highly recommend going here.

Probably the worst experience of a restaurant at Christmas ever, service average food bog standard, kids running riot through the restaurant. Women in the gents toilet which was also a disgrace, all in all an experience we would rather forget, will we be returning no definitely not.
