Visited the Sukhothai on Saturday for lunch. We had Tom Khai Gai, Som Tam, Panang Beef, and Pad Thai Jay. As usual, the food was excellent. The ingredients used and the manner in which they were cooked could not be faulted. We have visited the Far East, particularly Thailand, for many years now, and, in our view, the Sukhothai provides the most authentic Thai food outside Thailand. Long may this small family run business continue to provide food that, in our view, many other Thai restaurants couldn't even aspire to.

My wife and I visited on a Saturday night. We had booked a table for 7.30 pm. We were about ten minutes late but I'd phoned to advise. No problems at all. We had battered prawns and chicken satay for starters. Mains were prawn pad mee, green curry and masoman curry with sticky rice. The food was amazing, the service was amazing and with a bottle of wine it was amazing value. It was our third visit and all have been great. The only downside is that it's cash only but if you know in advance, just withdraw the money. All in all I would highly recommend.

We came here tonight for the first time with friends that are familiar with the restaurant and had a delicious authentic Thai meal. There was a good choice on the menu, but not too much and great care was given to cook to our liking. We received a warm welcome and impeccable attentive and friendly service thought our evening, it is a small charming and homely restaurant and most definitely would recommend and will be visiting again. KiKi is very passionate about her families business and this reflects through the rest of the staff too.

We visit here regularly with and without our children and order take away also regularly, went in on 16th march and didn’t have a book in so figured would be best to arrive just after 6 when they open, asked for table with high chair, was told no high chair but the little on could sit on mums lap (which she did!) however the service we received was so rude, kept telling the children to be quiet which they was behaving beautifully, telling them to turn their iPads down (they had headphones in) so no noise was coming from them. It was like she was annoyed we were there even though she happily gave us a table and seated us, tried many times to get attention to ask for extra drinks etc but was ignored and when we did ask politely she was very dismissive and rude back- very bizarre behaviour and very different from our normal experience here. Food was beautiful as always.

I used to come to this restaurant but I will never go back to this now. The service was appalling. They were rushing us through the meal in order to make us go home early. They were sweeping next to us while we were eating!!!! This is so rude, disrespectful and not hygienic at all!!! I have never felt so embarrassed by the service before. The table was far at the back, not in the main restaurant area despite all the space available. You normally ask a client if he/ she is happy with the table, but not here. Surely, the clients are not considered very important. The food was average but definitely not as good as I remember. The quality of the service and the food had decreased so much that I don't understand how they are still running the restaurant. I will never return to this restaurant

I am being introduced to Thai food for my impending holiday in Thailand. I have tried several dishes in several places. Sukhothai was my latest and by far the best Thai food I have had. The service was friendly and helpful a very pleasant experience and one that we will definitely do again. Can't fault it in anyway. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Really authentic Thai. Went for a birthday meal and my parents thought it was the best chicken satay they had ever eaten. Great service, the waitress even overheard it was my birthday and dimmed the lights and brought out ice cream with candles for me to blow out whilst singing happy birthday. A really lovely touch to the already super tasty food. Can recommend the satay, penang curry, sticky and coconut rice, tom yum soup. £30pp was for starters, 2 rounds of drinks, mains each, rice and an extra pad thai. Thank you x

I love this restaurant and have been returning over and over again for many years. The family run atmosphere is warm and friendly, I always feel welcomed by staff and the service is fast, polite and genuine. The food is incredibly authentic and tastes so fresh and vibrant. I come back as often as I can, a rare gem in Gravesend.

A hidden gem, we’ve lived in Gravesend for many years and always walked passed the restaurant, our friends said they’d like to go so we booked, the staff were very friendly and welcoming , the menu is unbelievable for choice, the food is cooked really well and turned up looking amazing and was very hot which I was pleased about , it was a lovely evening with great food , nice atmosphere and lovely staff , will definitely be going back .

I went here with my brother and husband for dinner. The welcome we received was so lovely. The service is absolutely spot on. The young lady who served us remembered our names making us feel at home and very welcome. The food was incredible we had lots of little dishes of everything. So my brother and I shared chicken satay and calamari each cooked to perfection. My husband had crab. The chicken satay was the best I’ve ever had. The calamari was so beautifully cooked soft and tasty. For mains we shared beef on a sizzling hot plate with cabbage and a hot and sour sauce was absolutely perfection. We had a chicken Penang and two different rices. We had some dumplings and pad Thai. I love Thai food. But not had it this good since I was in Thailand. A perfect setting with perfect food. But what’s best about here is how welcome you will be made to feel.

My wife and I had a really lovely meal in this restaurant, we had the mixed starter for two, the soft crab, pad thai, yellow curry, plain rice and Chang beer. The staff are really friendly with great advice, would highly recommend for your Thai experience just like being back in Bangkok.

Dined at this restaurant with friends last Friday, 16th December. Food was of the usual good standard but we have never felt so rushed out of a restaurant ever! At 10pm there was the four of us plus a couple on another table and the staff clearly wanted to go home as they were mopping the floor with pine disinfectant! They were literally mopping between our legs whilst we were finishing our meal! Our bill was £174, we left £180 and were not even offered our change back. Poor performance Sukothai, please take this review on board.

Very pleasant experience - freshly prepared good quality food with friendly service . Comfortable surroundings. Quite an extensive food menu. Relatively limited choice of wine but all affordable. Overall good value for money. It is worth noting that the restaurant only accepts payment in cash,however, there is a nearby Building Society on the opposite side of the road with a cash dispenser. A short walk to the nearest car park. This was my second visit recently and I enjoyed both. I can recommend the papaya salad.

We travelled from Suffolk to eat here after seeing the online reviews and they didn't disappoint at all. Food was exquisite, service was excellent, polite happy waiting staff who had the time to chat and help.

Fancied some Thai food, had a look online and ended up with a great find in this place. The mains (duck curry and spicy chicken stir-fry) were great, The food was very tasty and well presented, the service was friendly and the prices were reasonable. I plan to eat here again.

Fantastic food, family run with great atmosphere. The Tom yum soup was my fave but everything was beautifully authentic and delicious. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it and look forward to my next visit. Great value for money too!

Best Thai food around. Fresh ingredients authentically cooked and presented. The staff are friendly and help you with the menu if you're not sure what to order, they tell you what ingredients are in the dishes and how 'hot' each dish is and what dishes best go together. We always have a great night here with our friends.

Our local Thai restaurant closed about 5 years ago and it has taken until now to find another one that is as good. We travel from Sevenoaks to the Sukhothai and it is well worth the journey. The soft shell crab and papaya salad are delicious, the dressing is spot on. I normally have pad thai but our waitress recommended the Pad mee to go with the Goong Nang Chu Chi as the flavour works better. Oh my goodness, she was bang on :) The staff are attentive and courteous, with a nice bit of humour.

Great food, wish they did lamb massaman though. Squid good, seabass with red curry sauce good. Service good, 2 ladies are brilliant, the third comes across as a moody teenager but it's more amusing than a problem.

Absolutely the best Thai food in gravesend. The service and quality of food is absolutely amazing and very underrated. The staff make you feel at home and treat you as their own. The owners of the restaurant come and speak to you which makes the experience even better. The presentation of the food is surreal as you can see the hand crafted flowers have been made with care. It’s the perfect restaurant if you’re looking for authentic Thai food or if you haven’t eaten Thai food before. The waitresses are always very helpful . The variation of flavours and combinations are endless! So glad we booked our table so we could experience the whole evening properly. Thank you again see you soon!

Food was lovely, staff polite. Shame you can only have your table for 1 and half hours could do with 2 hours. Maybe then you can have a desert or coffee, very busy need to book .

Visited for lunch (table of four), we used the set menu. We had various dishes with all present thoroughly enjoying the food. Very nice!

Sukothai is normally a favourite restaurant of mine to visit in Gravesend, I often visit with my family. The food is normally great, and the service is too. However, I unfortunately can’t say the same for this experience… I ordered a Pad Thai with rice. After receiving my food, I spotted a strand of hair in my Pad Thai. I immediately alerted a waitress and showed her the hair. The waitress apologised and said that they will make me a new one. Shortly afterwards, another waitress appeared and asked me what the hair looked like, to which I said it was a brown/dark coloured, straight strand of hair. She then picked out some bean sprouts from the plate of remaining Pad Thai and said that what I thought was hair could have been the stringy end of the bean sprout!! I informed her that it definitely was not this and was indeed HAIR!! She then took the plate of remaining Pad Thai and said they will make a new one and give me half a bowl of coconut rice (as I had already used some). The main waitress then returned to my table to again deny that there was hair in my food, she said she had spoken to the chef who insisted that there was no hair and that what I had seen was the stringy end of a bean sprout. She again insisted that it was not hair. I again told the waitress that it was indeed HAIR!! …. Wow!! I think I know the difference between a cooked and soggy end of a bean sprout and a single STRAND OF HAIR!!! My food arrived but at this point my experience at the restaurant was ruined and I was ready to leave. I was very displeased and annoyed with the waitress’ attitude, her denial, and the way the situation was handled. They didn’t even apologise for the whole experience but instead chose to outright deny and minimise what I, a customer, had blatantly seen!! Very poor customer service!!!

This is a great Thai restaurant - a real gem in Gravesend. The food tastes great and the hostess is very warm and welcoming. I highly recommend the pad thai as well as the jungle curry.

Usually I take a bunch of photos and then I Google review. This time I did not, because the food looked so delicious I kept forgetting !! We we're here 7.5 years ago for our very first date. We returned because my (now) husband awkwardly asked me out for a date again ^^ I accepted and this was the place that sprang to mind. 7.5 years later, no longer a windy rainy Wednesday but a busy post lockdown Saturday, the food was once again and so was the service. Hope to see you again in less than 7.5 years.

Our first time visiting Sukhothai in Gravesend and it was fantastic.First and foremost the waitress / front of house was amazing - attentive, friendly and really warm and inviting and promptly took our time order between answering the phone for take away orders (must be popular for take-out in Gravesend) - she was on the ball with multi tasking!!Secondly, the smell that greets you from the kitchen is authentically Thailand, lemongrass, coconut milk and fish sauce - if you’re not hungry - after smelling that you will be!We opted for the mixed starter and some prawn crackers on the side. Nothing was greasy and everything tasted fragrant and fresh - not oily at all. And oh myGod, the Thai fish cakes were the closest tasting to those I had on a visit to Koh Samui for our honeymoon. Every bite was a delight.Next onto mains, we both opted for coconut rice with a beef Massaman and a prawn paenang. Both were fragrant, perfectly seasoned. The beef melted in your mouth and the prawns were meaty and not overcooked. The curry sauces themselves again so authentic and delicious. After these we were adequately full.Nonetheless we finished with dessert - Thai pancakes which were beautifully sweet with desiccated coconut and honey.We were also offered green tea - but at this stage we were both so uncomfortably full we couldn’t even fathom another bit (however delicious it was).The best bit - the bill came and £60 for a 3 course meal for 2 people (with drinks).It was honestly so good that we chucked down in excess of 30% tip. I’d strongly recommend this - we’re not hugely local (we’re in Dartford) but are already planning our next trip to continue working our way through the menu!The only thing that could make it better!?... if we had some of the Thai weather Thanks Sukhothai. Just got back from a wonderful anniversary dinner with my wife. We'd honeymooned in Thailand so decided to try and recapture that essence for our night out. Boy did we ever choose the right place.The atmosphere from the second we walked in screamed Thailand and catapulted us right back to that beautiful country, and that was even before we tried the food.In a word...stunning.I can honestly say the food was the most authentic I have ever had in this country and we may as well have been eating in Koh Samui!Add to this the impeccably friendly and upbeat service and I cannot find a single fault.100% will definitely be back for the rest of the menu!Khob khun khap.

Went there to dine a few months ago. Food was fantastic with very good service. However, at that time, they were only accepting payment by cash only, which we found the only drawback as I had to go and draw money out from an ATM. There are however several ATMs in the neighbourhood.

5 of us had dinner on a Saturday night, thankfully having booked as the restaurant was soon full after our arrival. Although the street is pedestrianised during the day, cars are permitted in the evening and we parked right outside. The restaurant is attractively styled and comfortable. Staff were efficient and friendly, and there was a wide choice of all courses. Food was served fresh and hot, and was delicious. If we wanted more of one of the sauces for the starters this was no problem. Highly recommended.

Every dish is fantastically well cooked and tastes amazing - the distinction between flavours is just what you would want. Best starters are the garlic chicken wings and the short ribs....order double and share with a table of four

This was our first visit to Sukhothai and we will definitley be back! We took my Thai nephew here, who was staying with us for the weekend. We knew it might be a risk if the Thiai food had not been up to snuff but he loved and devoured it all! The ladies who run the restaurant are both from Thailand and are lovely giving us good recommendations on the food and the Chang beer which I must say my husband and i really enjoyed. We had two starters between us, spring rolls ( tasty and not the same as chinese spring rolls as we had thought, much nicer) and the Thai dumplings stuffed with pork and beef. There were four of each which were more than enough to share and both very tasty. For the main course I had the Panaeng Goong - red curry with prawns, again very tasty especially with coconut rice and sweet and sour vegatables. My Nephew had stir fried chickekn with lime leaves, basil and chillies. He made the mistake of asking for extra chillies but never the less he ate it all with egg fired rice along with some of the sweet and sour vegetables. My Husband had something slightly milder and chicken stir fry with ginger and (less) chillies with plain rice. We all thorouhly enoyed the food, it was fragrant and nicely cooked and presented. My Nephew (15 years old) was very impressed with the authenticity and quality of the food and was very happy to be able to talk in his native language to both the ladies and another Thai guest who was enjoying her meal too.The restaurant was very busy with most tables reserved and a lot of returning customers which is a good sign. To note, at the moment it is cash only and there are signs to this effect displayed. They do offer a takeaway service and delivery service locally. I expect to be one of the retuning customers very soon! :)

Fabulous food and if you love authentic Thai food I highly recommend this lovely restaurant . Be prepared as at the moment they only accept cash . There is a cash point just yards away though . Great atmosphere and good service .

This place is a little gem. Went there with wife and daughter, food is just so good. Been a few times now and also had takeaway and it never lets you down. Red and green curry’s perfect, best pad Thai I’ve had in this country. Very unassuming place but please seek it out, you won’t be disappointed.
