Normal portion of chips, fine, fish very poor all batter , won't return.

The food was hot and tasty and priced about right.

The best fish and chips in Malton.

The food is great, although I was disappointed in the chip portion. Must say I didn't feel welcome at all. The older lady serving wasn't pleasant...

Everything is good about the food but I find the lady who serves behind the counter blunt to the point of being down right rude.

Great Fish & Chips, big portions and quality food

Portion sizes are fab and the shop was 10mins before closing and all food was made fresh 👍 1st rate

Everything u need from a chippy lovely chips and good sausage and fish a bit too much batter but other than that very nice. Bit pricey but seems right for Malton.

Must been running low on chips as the last three times I've gone I've been given a nearly empty bag - older lady at the counter doesn't make you feel very welcome either despite trying to be nice to her.

Dropped in for Fish and Chips, great service, fish fried to order. Great quality and plentiful, would definitely recommend.

Kids tired and hungry went in and ordered 3 portions of chips 2 mince pies. 3 small sausages. Charged me £16.80 got back to our caravan only to find we've been ripped off of 1 sausage and one bag of chips. Tried to phone but not being answered. No kiddies menu prices you need a mortgage for. Stay well clear

Don't get me wrong, whatever I'm about to write doesn't take anything away from the lovely fish and chips served here. The opening hours.. How about being more honest? It say 8pm close. What you actually mean is we will be wiped down and cleared away and out the door by 8pm... Heaven forbid you walk in between half 7 and 8 and actually expect food. You'll be greeted with the sort of response that makes you think you're doing them a favour by ordering something. At that time of the day don't expect anything they haven't already got cooked. I could almost feel the disdain when I just wanted to order fish and chips at 7:40pm while the guy was furiously cleaning everything down. I get it, seriously, you want to go home, we all have long shifts. But don't say you're open until 8pm if you're not serving food until then! That''s all you do, serve food. There's a massive difference between 'being open' because your doors are open and actually selling something! The fish and chips were very nice. But a pleasant greeting? Absolutely not. I felt like I'd broken in. I'm sorry for putting you out by coming to a fish and chip shop and actually wanting to buy fish and chips during your opening hours, I realise it must be very stressful for you. The woman behind the counter made that very clear. You even turned away a family that came in after me! Perhaps a customer meet and greet course would be advantageous... Or a more simple solution, get friendlier staff and adjust your opening hours to when you actually WANT to sell food.

Good for a quick fish & chip stop, parking outside, not too expensive (£6.70 for f+c, ,£1 for curry sauce). Good sized portions, there can be queues at peak times

This is a great portion of fish and chips, freshly cooked every time, nice chips and always get the mushy peas. Some negative reviews on here from a few years ago, to be honest I've always tried to pop in when on holiday and haven't been disappointed and tonight's servings where excellent. 👍

Best fish n' chips in North Yorkshire!

Bought four portions of fish and chips and three mushy peas, arrived home several miles away and the peas hadn't been added. The fish was ok -the batter quite soggy and the chips mostly crispy lacking in potato and very dry - most of the meals were thrown away. Very disappointing and very annoying to pay for essentially three items and only receive two -particularly as i was the only customer at the time.

The fish and chips and peas are the best I ve eaten in years and years. I usually don't eat the chips but they must use better frying fat here as even the chips are delicious. The fish is large and wholesome and very tasty. The batter is delicious but so perfectly cooked that you can get it all cleanly off the fish if you don't want to eat it. The lady behind the counter doesn't say a lot but she's OK. It's freezing cold in there so I didn't want to sit at their tables and I ate in my car, but hey, the product is so good it's worth it and you don't have a long wait as each fish is cooked to order. Yum yum yum. I actually drive past Thompson, which are very good, to eat here which is Excellent. 😁

Wanted takeaway Fish and Chips and was passing this place. Looks a bit grubby on the outside hence only giving 4 stars but the food quality and made to feel welcome by the staff whilst you wait is excellent. The fish was cooked to order ie fresh! The chips were perfect! Have since been back and had the same experience! Great quality, just sort that look out...first impressions and all that!

We were on holiday in the area and following reviews on Trip Advisor and a local recommendation visited for fish and chips. The food all looked nice in the shop and was cooked to order. Unfortunately the fish batter was soggy and oily and stuck to the paper and the chips were also very soggy. Mushy peas were good and the curry sauce OK. Service mediocre.

Called in on the off chance to see if they did Gluten Free Chips and I'm pleased to say that they do as all the chips are cooked in a dedicated fryer. They also do gf vinegar and served the chips with a clean scoop. The chips were really nice as well.

Fancied a fish and chips lunch and we were directed to Stuarts. It was a good recommendation. Freshly cooked fish and chips while we waited. Then sat at one of the two tables to quickly demolish this very filling lunch.

Never in my life have I ever wished that I had just walked out of a shop as much as tonight. Firstly I walked in straight to the counter to order my food from a young girl to blank me completely. No acknowledgement that I was even standing directly in front of her. Whilst I had to wait 1 minute for another fish a man behind me was served. The 2 woman wrapped up his order and he then advised them that he was eating it now to which they tipped it into a box. As he left they muttered to each other that he should have said. Then when my order was ready they wrapped it all without asking which was fine but could they not have even managed to ask if I wanted salt and vinegar on. When I got home from a 5 minute drive I unwrapped my food to find the fish stuck to the paper as no grease proof paper used. The batter was far too thick and was old as it had blown in the cooking process. The peas were stone cold and had definitely not had the temperature taken when the man filled the container up. My tip to the establishment would be to train your staff in having a bit of politeness, say hello to everyone that walks through your door. Whether they are spending 50p or £50 every customer matters and buy a food thermometer and train everyone on how to use it and record the readings. I just hope you realise where you are going wrong.

Try Malton bloody gorgeous. ..every time!

Horrible horrible food Do not waste your time/ money we have been a few times and each time we hate it but go back for the benefit of the doubt but tonight was final straw! The Chips were inediable so crunchy and stale and the fish was riddled in fat and didn't taste fully cooked, never again will I go here drive to Pickering two nice chippys there!!

Vivimos en Bridlington, pero siempre vamos a Stuarts ahora para pescado y patatas fritas. Son los mejores que hemos tenido por una milla y una excelente relación calidad-precio.

La misma compañía tiene un excelente restaurante en Driffield y la comida allí es mucho mejor que Malton. Asimismo tienen una tienda en Pocklington. Comida en Malton es hacerles. Incluso cuando pasas por el olor a pescado y patatas fritas tradicional está enmascarado por el olor de la vieja grasa culinario. Decepcionante disminución así que ahora nos evitarlo.

Orderd chicken nuggets they only served me 6 but on the board it stated i get 8, chips were really dry but greasy how its the best is beyond me.

Fairly good quality fish, not as good as the old Marwoods fayre used to be.About time they got pulled-up for parking on the double yellows outside their shop; Morrisons' a pain to get out of when you can't see the traffic for a Stuart's van.I'm boycotting the place, and suggest you consider doing so too - at least until they start abiding by the law...
