Dreadfull . Over cooked pakora . 3 Roast beef dinners the meat tasted off , gravy made from bisto granules so salty it was inedible ,1 small yorkshire pudding by aunt bessie , splodge of mash . Not what we had hoped for . Complained about food but no reduction in bill . The restaurant felt like the dining room of an old folk home . My sister in law asked for horseradish sauce to go with her beef , informed that she was only the second person to ask for it in 9 years !! Got a sachet of mustard instead . Two of our party had terrible diarrhoea afterwards . Wont be back . Shocking .

We turned up at the restaurant without booking a table and we kindly asked for a table for 4 (2 adults and 2 young kids). We got such a dirty look from a member of staff and he clearly huffed to check if there was any availability, the place had a lot of tables. We walked straight out as we felt so unwelcome we had to leave. We will never enter this restaurant again.

Overall a nice experience. The food was good, decoration was maybe a bit bland...

We are come from London and we found this restaurant. Very nice, clean and good atmosphere ! Food very delicious and fresh! I especially appreciate that the chef came to our table and asked what we wanted. Definitely recommend for everyone! Thanks 💐

Fantastic restaurant, great selection on menu, very friendly staff and very nice inside.

Ordered takeaway from here. Food was so hot when we collected. Menu is huge with options for everyone. The Indian food was amazing. Tikka Masala was absolutely delicious. Great to see just as much care and attention is given to the kids meals. The kids homemade mac and cheese was so good. Staff were lovely when we got there, laughing and joking with us. Portion sizes are huge and curry comes with rice of chips which I really did not expect!

Very rude lady who was working. Awful manner. Honestly could cut the atmosphere with a knife. Could sense her hostile manner right from when we went in. Other members of staff lovely, friendly and attentive however you could sense unease with the lady who was serving behind bar. Also overheard discussions and comments about us. Disappointed ☹️

Great Indian thali. Spicy tasty, fresh with fluffy delicious naan bread They have standard bistro food too but we didn't try that .

Me and my wife went out to dinner recently here at Stroma in Montrose. We ordered some poppadoms, king prawn, chicken tikka tandoori platter and a garlic based curry along with cajun fries. And how can i forget about the cheese and garlic nan, this was the star of the show. Freshly prepared food, quick service and happy customers.

Fantastic selection for takeaway. Reasonable price, great food and great portions. Will be ordering here again.

Didn’t get what I ordered ended up with a Korma which was ok but not what we ordered. As I live 5mls away I didn’t go back. Also ordered a prawn puri which was tasteless and bright red with colouring, as well as that the bread element was a chappati and not a puri. Very ordinary. Won’t be back

Good price, staff friendly enough and tasted fine but I have coeliac disease (autoimmune disease that is set off by wheat, barley and malt)so despite being told what I can and can’t eat I have been on the pan since last night with sore guts and joints I will now be physically struggling for the next week and my plans are ruined. The lady at the bar handed me a very dirty menu to look at so I could see the gluten free options she said all curries are gluten free! the menu was even falling apart in my hand. Will not be able to eat here again as I’ve got no trust for the place now. This food is not gluten free maybe cross contamination in the kitchen.

Great food especially the Currys! Loved the Lentil Soup then Chicken Tikka Masala with rice and side if Cajun Spicy Chips 👍😊

Staff made us feel uneasy as soon as we walked in the door. They were then arguing with each other a few tables distance away. As other reviews state, food was boil in the bag type stuff with no seasoning. Wish we'd checked the reviews before going in. 😂

First time visit for us and we were not disappointed. From walking into the restaurant we were made to feel very welcome, shown straight to our table, and the drinks were there very swiftly. The food was excellent, and very reasonable prices, added to that we had 3 very attentive waitresses, so had a lovely meal and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Superb quality food in a variety of styles and tastes. Top value for money as each delish plate is stacked to the top so feeding many on one or two meals is quite easy

A ray of light on a Tuesday night. A wide and varied menu offering many cuisines, plenty of choice. Food was good and good value for money!!

So many options on the menu. A few gluten free options, curry's all gluten free. Lovely young friendly staff.

First time in stroma we had a warm welcome showed to our seats made very welcome sat down got offered our drinks got drinks then ask what we wanted to eat. The menu had a very large of choice of all different varieties of food we had steak pie 🥧 I can honestly say that the food was absolutely fantastic I would recommend that everybody trys this excellent restaurant if I could give this more than a five star 🌟 rating I would I will defo be back very soon thanks for a perfect night stroma well done.

Really nice food over here, tried the India and love it. They have a big menu to pick from so be ready to crack your head. Huge portion so good for sharing.

So me and my wife decided to try this “bistro” after years of seeing it. We wish we hadn’t. Absolutely nothing like a Bistro and the food was nothing like “bistro food”. Mostly boil in the bag or “Break Brothers” bought in convenience food. Certainly not fresh. Sea bass was absolutely horrendous and completely overcooked. My wife’s Steak Pie was nothing short of microwaved gruel with the most low quality oven roasted “puff pastry”. Absolute nightmare of a meal. Advice is to stay away. Complete disappointment on all levels.

Visited Montrose for Jubilee weekend & had a superb meal on the saturday night. Nice staff & with the size of the portions you definitely get your money's worth. Six of us all had lovely meals.

Out for a family meal on a Saturday evening so you can imagine it was quite busy. From the moment we arrived we were looked after by some genuinely happy and professional front of house staff. The menu was extensive and I must admit to being slightly concerned due to the vast array of European and Asian dishes available. My fears were allayed when the food arrived. The main dishes were piping hot, with rich, tasty sauces and light, fluffy rice. I had opted for the lamb rogan josh and it did not disappoint, with just the right spiciness and 'zing,' with tender chunks of lamb in abundance. We had opted for two Naan breads as sides and they also did not disappoint, with a slight crisp exterior and soft warm interior and just the right amount of flavouring within. The main dish portions were huge and the naans akin to small folded blankets! I only wish I had had room to try the desserts. All the staff were so friendly from the waiting staff on the floor, who didn't seem to stop but still found time for a chat and a joke, to the barman and Manager/chef who paused from cashing up to have a chat. To finish, the bill was very reasonable and we would definitely recommend. Thank you for a splendid evening.

Akbar is so friendly and make sure that everything is good by himself. Lot of varieties there and huge portions. Best restaurant in Montrose.

Curry, curry, curry, my go to choice of meal here, with quite an array of options, and it certainly doesn't disappoint, top notch.

Filled mushrooms was filled tasteless, trio of curries had one nice one and two underseasoned ones. Naan was quite good. The waiter looked like a vampire (thin tall figure, tall collar/buff/face covering, excessive rings, hissing sounds) which was a bit scary. When told him mushrooms was tasteless after he asked if everything was OK he thought for a minute, said nothing and left.

Fantastic food, fantastic staff. Yes both can be met here, lovely tasty lunch menu. Beware portions are huge, terrible idea if you're ok diet 😅 thank you !!!!!

The place was clean and nice staff. I had the beef which had a bit of string in. Not very nice tasting and looked like from a packet although I was reassured it wasn't. The gravy tasted sour to me but maybe was just my taste! Starter was lovely and rest of main was fine.

Absolutely fantastic, amazing service and food 😀

Very good flavours, decided to visit after thinking about it for a while, so glad we did. Tried a Thali really good flavours, mild, medium, hot curry plus chickpea curry, chicken pakora and riata plus paratha and rice. All really enjoyable Hot curry proper hot for few minutes then cools ready for next mouthful. Masala sauce was so good as was the korma smooth and spiced. We also had a butter chicken balti and rice excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful when asked about the menu and service. Will definitely being going back.

Take away ordered during COVID19 pandemic , absolutely fantastic meal , lovely and hot, exceptionally tasty and a great way to celebrate daughter’s birthday whilst complying with distance guidelines. Order was phoned in and ready for collection as agreed . Pakora starters lovely, mains of chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Reshmi Korma complimented with pilau rice & peshwari nan bread, great. Thank you for a great service during these unprecedented times.

Fab curry as always. Things starting to look a bit tired though, menus are scruffy and dirty. Toilets could do with a good clean too and some painting required. Hope it gets some attention soon as the food is amazing.

Stroma is a restaurant for good meal in Montrose. You’ll enjoy it if you’re looking to eat similar to Indian meal.

Lovely friendly staff and delicious food

Unfortunately, there was an unpleasant “misunderstanding” that was blamed on the operators. Taking into account the fact that many restaurants offer lunch specials and that these are only valid for a certain period of time, we inspected the menu posted outside very carefully as usual, also due to the advanced time (around 3 p.m.). Neither of us noticed any restrictions or notices, even after we were handed the menu again in the restaurant. The waiter saw exactly which dishes we wanted to order from the menu and at what price, because thanks to the somewhat rustic language on the part of the waiter and the resulting language barrier, we pointed this out to him again in the menu. Nevertheless, when paying, reference was made to a lunch price that was no longer valid. Instead of the waiter who was originally serving, another person suddenly came to “collect”. We have the impression that we have been cheated. We therefore do not recommend this “facility”. Apart from that, the rooms were very sterile and cold. There was no feel-good factor. The food wasn't even of mediocre quality - also a failure. If I don't find time to eat until 3 p.m., I only expect one thing - that it works! You better not bet a cent on it here.
