We went here for my birthday treat for a afternoon tea. A lovely idea BUT the atmosphere was unwelcoming. We were told firmly that if we wanted a fruit tea it would be extra.no choice in sandwiches, scone or cake. There were three of us so we shared the cakes (three different ones) with a third each. Like the other review there were spme nice looking cakes on display and it would have been nice to be offered some sort of choice. The main thing is really the lack of warmth or friendliness of the staff. The tea was plonked in front of us. Noone asked if we were ok or enhoying it. No goodnye or anything like that. We did go back a few werks later for an afternoon tea with a psychic. We rhoughtbit might be better. It was not. The psychic was appalling and for £16 a head we got a dry tasteless tiny sliver of victoria sponge on a plate covered in cling film. Again, no choice. Firmly told by the unsmiling oerson serving that fruit tea was extra!!!!!. Sadly I will not go back. A smile costs nothing

The drinks were ok but both my wife and I walked out saying we didn’t feel welcome… We popped into the tea house on our back through from Cheddar Gorge, we know that we turned up with only 45 minutes left of opening and weren’t too bothered by their being no option of food apart from the cake, but it was the general tone and attitude of the hostess that just made us feel like they could have done without us turning up. The drinks were fine but the attitude could be improved so that all customers feel welcome, whatever time they turn up.

Whilst out on a walk around the village, we stopped in to grab a couple takeaway hot chocolates and a gingerbread man. Honestly the nicest hot chocolate I’ve had in a very long time, can’t wait to come back for lunch.

I came for a birthday afternoon tea late last month. The lady at the desk was unwelcoming, bordering grumpy. We were give no choice in sandwiches, scone or cake. The sandwiches (3 ham, 1 egg, 2 brie and cranberry and 2 tuna) were odd in number which made it feel like we were given what was left. Perhaps my expectations were high but when I have done this previously I have been asked what sandwiches I would like from a selection, a choice of scone (we were give one plain one fruit so had half of each each) and little cakes. There were two slices of cake, one coffee which was very nice and one looked like chocolate - I'm not sure what it was, perhaps the velvet cake but not some thing I would have had out of choice (again we shared). There were lovely looking cakes displayed on a dresser and it would have been nice to have been offered a choice. The room was very cold - I had a warm coat which I kept on, my guest was not as fortunate. No-one approached us the time we were there and when we left there was no-one to tell we were leaving - it felt very strange to just get up and walk out. Very disappointed in something which was supposed to be a treat - just being given a choice would have made all the difference.

On this occasion, I had ordered beef with ginger and spring onion for myself and had recieved tofu in black bean sauce. My partners order was correct and so was the chicken balls. I had rang up, service was good over the phone and they had cooked and sent out a new order BUT the new order was still wrong and had almost a little bit of everything in it (chicken, beef, pork, carrots, peppers, bamboo shoots) so again, wrong. The previous time i ordered here, i've also had a item never be delivered and had to ask for them to resend it which was correct that time
