Stoked Vegan BBQ in Southend-on-Sea

Really tasty and beautifully crafted dishes. Thank you, Stoked for being vegan heaven. The service is brilliant, the atmosphere is spot-on, and they always have a fantastic drinks selection too. Just wish I could leave room for that gorgeous Tiramisu more often!

We had a meal there Saturday evening and luckily we had booked because it was busy. The food was excellent with a good choice of dishes with the tirimissu probably the best we've tasted. Very good selection of drinks to wash it all down as well. The venue was quirky but very laid back with a retro feel coupled with great sounds and Billy and the staff were the icing on the cake, could not fault them, definitely be going back.

Excellent service, great choice of non-alcoholic beers and the food was great. Really loved the oyster mushroom wings and the brisket in particular. The dessert was spectacular, we had the half and half (half banana pudding, half brownie) which was delicious - the two desserts went so well with each other. Great experience all round.

Wife and I arrived in the uk to visit family in Westcliff. While searching for a dinner spot we googled ‘healthy food’ and stoked popped up, so we (as pestcatarians with caveats 😁) decided to try it. First off the outside gave some great vibes with an old VW bug trunk as the front of the table outside. Inside the ambiance is cool, eclectic and welcoming with an amundance of wood surfaces and Americana (wife loved the PBR hat!) We ordered the on bone ribs and brisket both of which were delicious, the stand out of the two was the ribs, amazing texture and taste with the ‘fixins’ of corn, slaw, beans and pickles perfectly complementing the ‘meat’. We finished off with a triple chocolate cookie to go, which we’ve yet to taste but I'm certain will be delicious! When we’re back in town, we’ll definitely be back!!

Food here is so good, great service and brilliant cocktails! We had a selection of the ‘fish’ tacos, oyster mushroom tacos, corn ribs and oyster mushroom wings, all of which were fantastic. My favourite drink is an old fashioned and the butterscotch old fashioned served here is one of the best I’ve had. Very friendly and welcoming staff, and clearly passionate about what they do. A great selection of beers with a couple on tap too.

Absolutely banging food, loved the ribs, tacos and mac n cheese. Excellent craft beer selection. Lovely staff with a great taste in Simpsons memorabilia too.

Really cosy quirky comfy atmosphere. Very friendly waiter. And yummy food - especially the BBQ ribs, just wish there were more in the portion cause they were so damn good haha 100% recommend!

Stoked is a really friendly place with great food. The pineapple salsa on the tacos was amazing, the seitan brisket was very well seasoned. Great drinks menu and I was really pleased to see several no-alcohol options too. Next time I will definitely try a spicy margarita!

Great Quality Food! Everything is vegan! Woop! The two of us had the peach ice tea, shark attack cocktail and decaf coffee with oat milk to drink. To eat I had the KFC and Brownie which were absolutely delicious and my fiancé had the crunch wrap and a bite of my brownie. He said the crunch wrap was very filling and great. Love the new menu. Would 100% recommend this restaurant and will be coming back on another occasion.

We've visited Stoked a handful of times now, and would definitely frequent more if we lived nearer! We love the atmosphere, the service is always impeccable (especially tonight when we had the pleasure of being served by the chef) and the food is otherworldly on a vegan scale, can highly recommend the chilli beef starter, if you're lucky enough it's still on the menu when you visit! We love that we can visit with our dog too, already looking forward to our next visit!

Absolutely blown away by this restaurant! I came with my partner as we're both trying out the vegan lifestyle and we were both incredibly pleased. The restaurant is small but cosy and quirky, with board games available to play. The food is delicious, and the corn on the cob is hands down the best I've ever had in my life! My partner does not like sweetcorn and usually treats it like arsenic but he actually gave it a try and loved it! The flavours are incredible! The drinks are also delicious and serve some of the best cocktails I've tasted too. The staff are chatty and friendly and the whole experience and atmosphere in general was excellent. Cannot recommend enough and I will most definitely be going again!

Excellent service at our first visit to Stoked Vegan BBq. I loved the interesting decor and George, our waiter, was brilliant at making us feel welcome, whilst catering to our needs and order. It was a fantastic lunch with the music and atmosphere spot on. The food is absolutely incredible, such a superb chef. We need to go back again soon.

Amazing food, drinks and service. We were made to feel very welcome and everything was delicious! It can be hard to find new and exciting vegan options sometimes, so this vegan BBQ place was a great find. The Cajun fries and BBQ tempeh were particular highlights. There are toilets, but you'll need to ask for the key!

Such an amazing first visit to this wonderful vegan restaurant. Not only do they serve absolutely delicious food, but the extent of their drinks menu is simply amazing. The friendliness of their staff is wonderful to see. Highly recommended, whether you are vegan or not.

One of the hidden gems in westcliff, the wrap was really good!

Hands down the best vegan burger we’ve had! We were lucky enough to have booked on burger night - 2 burgers with fries and a pint and small wine for £25! We chose to have each of the burgers available. The chick’n slider was incredible and even the fries perfectly salted and the samurai slider was equally amazing and the spicy garlic, sesame and gochujang fries were insane! The owner is friendly and clearly very passionate about what he is doing which is really refreshing to see! If we find ourselves in the area again then it will definitely be top of our list to eat at again.

First time trying after wanting to do so for aaaages. Not disappointed! We went on a Sunday. The small and tempting menu is effective and very tasty. I got the triple fried buttermilk seitan tenders, but I definitely got Roast Dinner envy after seeing the ones my friends ordered. They looked insane. 👌 Great craft beer selection too! As a meat eater, its great to have awesome vegan restaurants to try and broaden our horizons. Highly recommended. 🙏

We visited on the 2nd March and had a fantastic time. We were a group of four adults plus two children and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating- a curated beer tasting for the adults and games of peek-a-boo for the little ones. Billy is a fantastic host- passionate about the food and the beer but also just incredibly warm and friendly. We sampled most of the food menu and everything we ate was a feast of flavour. The starters were a particular highlight, particularly the chilli "beef." Beer fans will also have an absolute ball here. Let Billy be your guide. We would love to visit again.

My mother took me to this place for my birthday but she is not vegan unlike me but I must say the foh guy was so friendly and helpful as he said he would make whatever she wanted even if it was from different menu items but she did eventually pick something from the menu and she said to me she really enjoyed it except from one item so I ended up eating it. We ended up getting a free brownie and I had a brandy and coke and he gave us the brandy for free with the brownie for my birthday treat and to say sorry she couldn’t decide what to eat. The foh guy did explain each main menu item to my mother so she knew what to pick so I thought that was really good service. The only bad thing I would say about the place is that it needs to be more clean because when we arrived it looked like a very nice but could tell it was dirty because we saw bits over the floor and our table wasn’t really clean. Also had to send cutlery because it wasn’t clean but other than that it was a great experience and I will definitely be back for more.

Not a great selection of food, but a great selection of drinks!!!! Beers, spirits, coctails!!!!!! And the place looks fantastic. Quite pricy as well. But I will definitely go back there soon.

I’m ashamed to admit, but this was my first experience of a vegan restaurant but wow I cannot recommend enough! The food was absolutely delicious - huge portions, amazing choice - I loved it at Stoked! It’s a very small intimate setting with great music and to-die-for cocktails. Service was friendly, helpful and informative about what all the foods actually were (lots of ingredients I hadn’t heard of). Thank you Billy - I’ll be back!

FINALLY made it to Stoked for a take-away, and what a treat. Billy the owner was so helpful via email, the restaurant has a fantastic ambience, the young lad who served us was really welcoming, and the food is to die for. Smashed it!

What a gem....the look of this place inside and out filled our souls with absolute joy. The owner is one of a kind and probably the best restaurant owner we have met. The chefs an absolute wizard, no doubt about that. the food wss next level. The play list smashed it, with an amazing atmosphere. Other restarants take note....stoked is how it should be done. 👏👊👌

Incredible! Was so so impressed! Wonderful atmosphere, lovely service, great music, fantastic choice of beers and zero options too! And the food was delicious! Really tasty! From only usually having one vegan option on menus at other restaurants, I was overwhelmed with the choices, wish I could have tried them all! And great value for money too, we went during happy hour, was pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived! Thank you to the staff for a superb experience! Keep up the good work!

Very flavourful, can really tell that the food here is made from scratch and not pre bought frozen stuff like most other vegan food. Good portion sizes. Would recommend 👍

We absolutely love Stoked. The food is always amazing and the portion sizes are great. Billy and his team work hard to create a really interesting menu that delivers on flavours every single time. We love it so much that we had Billy cater for our wedding recently. A fully vegan BBQ with brisket, po boys, mac n cheese, brownies...it was amazing! A must try!

I'm not a vegan but honestly, this place could convert me. Without doubt one of the best places we have eaten at. Billy was phenomenal with his service (working alone tonight) and his food. Excellent knowledge of vegan food and able to extract some of the most amazing flavours from the food (the celeriac tacos and BBQ beans were amazing!) And his knowledge of drinks was 10/10 as well. Welcoming, homely and comforting is the best way to describe Stoked. Vegan or not you need to go and try this!

This restaurant is a game changer. Coming from a non-vegan, the food that is freshly made, and presented each and every time looks and tastes AMAZING. Burgers/wraps/mac n cheese/loaded fries (and so much more) all amazing. Along side this some pretty damn great craft beers and cocktails. A regular changing menu highlighting the skill of variation and creativity! But its not just the Vegan BBQ food that is great, the 'Fine Dining' experience was something else....truly fantastic food, again all freshly made, presented beautifully and tasting lovely. A true gem, and a must try if you enjoy eating!!!

Easily the best vegan food in Essex. Generous portions of authentic American staples I've sorely missed since being vegan. Drinks and food menu seems to be changing often, so every time I visit Stoked I get a new experience and am yet to feel disappointed. Highly reccomend!

Stoked is a rare gem in vegan restaurants in that the food is amazing and its extremely well run. We had a group of 5 diners, only 1 vegan, and everyone raved about the whole experience. Food wise, we all tried a variety of dishes but I'm biased and am going to recommend what I had - mushroom wings and the sloppy joe - so so good! Everyone commented on how good the quality of the food was in that surprised way people do about vegan food ha ha! Service wise, our every whim was met by Bilyl, the owner, who was one man running it that night - not that you'd know it, the whole thing was so smooth. An insane knowledge of his super well stocked bar, and letting us taste test the beers on tap, all added up to an experience that made us feel welcome and valued as customers. Thank you, Billy for looking after us all evening! We'll be back as soon as we've finished recommending you to everyone!

wow! what an awesome little place, amazing vegan bbq that's hard to come by anywhere in the uk. The tacos were otherworldly and so was their homemade take on vegan banana pudding. everything was excellent. also check out their amazing American beer selection.

As someone who grew up eating southern US bbq I can attest that there was a lot of effort to make this food authentic and yet vegan. It was totally worth the walk from Southend Pier and we plan to visit again.

Best vegan food in Essex, hands down! Eaten in here loads of times since it opened and had numerous take aways. Food is all freshly made in-house…you won’t find any cash and carry meat subs here! The only thing I’d complain about is having too much choice as I never know what to get. I think they should do a plate with a little bit of everything…Billy sort it out please! Dog friendly too

No idea why I've not been here before. Great cocktails, great food and great service.

Really disappointed, never paid so much for so little on my main course, the jambalaya was bland, one texture and just mild heat taste, one of the group abandoned there's completely after a few mouthfuls (£15). Drinks were very expensive and not available on the website in advance so that was a surprise. It was too trying too hard to be trendy in our opinion. Real shame we had their food at a festival and it was great. But this didn't work for any of our party of 6. Front of house staff was the savings grace but still managed to trip themselves up several times but dealt with our concerns very well. I could go on but try it for yourself but we all had to eat when we got home.

O.M.G. Just amazing. The waitress was really lovely, music and aesthetic very cool, and the food...unbelievable. Have been meaning to come here for quite a while, so when I found out that they do 50% off on Sundays, it was a win-win. We ate like Kings, and for less than 10 pounds per head! [EDIT: Not 50% off anymore, so bare that in mind! Is very pricey normally, so unfortunately I wouldn't be able to come again unless other deals were available. If you have the money though, definitely recommend!!] Loved the brisket the most, the mac and cheese isn't very "cheesy" in taste, but has great flavour none the less such that I didn't really care! My only critique for the restaurant would be the fried oyster mushroom starter; I love the idea, but the concept would be so much better if you fried the oyster clusters, rather than the individual mushrooms. This would give a better texture, and a mean fried chicken replacement ;) Still really lovely, thoroughly enjoyed, and will come back again... probably next time on a Friday, when the cocktails are a fiver :o 👍

This place is incredibly unique. The food is American BBQ style. Texan I believe. But I'm no expert! I love having the burgers here, my partner has tried quite a few other options and also enjoys the food. I'd love to try a hotdog but never seen one on the menu? Parking locally is a bit disappointing, if you can't get a space around the corner but this is a better location than the previous venue. I hope to see Stoked move nearer Southend one day and have parking nearby.

The food is just ridiculously tasty. I’m 7 months pregnant and could not decide what to eat as it all sounded so good. We live 1 hour away and I get a feeling we will still be returning very soon. The food is delicious, the service is friendly and quick, the music is fun and the decor is cool. I highly recommend adding this place to your bucket list. I also recommend booking a table as they are very popular :)

First time in this establishment. Excellent service, very personable. The food was incredibly good with big portions which is what I need with my family. The prices are low considering what your getting. I will definitely be back. Also I noticed that you can order via Uber eats! 10/10 for this place.

Superb! Initially went to another vegan place nearby but hadn't booked and they couldn't fit us in so ended up here and was not disappointed. Food was great - the loaded fries were awesome!! Drinks menu is awesome, host was great! Will definitely be coming back.

Managed to get my half veggie, half meat-eating family here for my vegan brother’s birthday. We were really impressed with the delicious starters which we had a couple each of and shared around, but not as much with the mains. I like how the menu changes and would therefore definitely come back to try this place again and anything different it has to offer. To be honest I would come back just for the banana pudding (delicious), and the vibes of this little place are great.

We’d previously visited Stoked a few months ago, and didn’t have the best experience. But Billy the owner was very receptive our feedback and so we decided to give Stoked another go. And I’m so glad we did. Everything we ordered was delicious, from the Tailgate Stack burger, to the Original BBQ Plate, to the incredible banana pudding. The service was warm and friendly, and I noticed that every visitor at every table was made to feel welcome. It was a really positive atmosphere and I’m genuinely looking forward to my next visit. I’ve been to vegan restaurants all over the world, including a lot of BBQ joints in the US, and it’s honestly nuts how one of the best is lurking down here in suburban Westcliff. Do yourself a favour and pay Stoked a visit.

Our host was wonderful from the start. This is a unique place and very cool. I find it difficult to be comfortable in an restaurant but this place was different. Absolutely amazing! I’m not vegan myself but this food doesn’t make you miss meat. Staff are polite and lots of fun. Such a friendly environment and have had great evenings in this restaurant meeting new people. Food is unbelievable and will as go as far to say this is my favourite place to eat!

Stoked did not disappoint!!!! Vegan food is not boring, and this place tells you that . Friendly , lots of positive vibes , non alcoholic beers were on point , and my 12 year old boy was so impressed . The food which is obviously so important was just sublime . Cheers guys

First time visiting. Women working was really nice. Good menu with about 5 options. I believe this changes every month or so. See their website for most up to date. Had some lovely ĺooking brownies at the counter too. Enough seating for 15 or so people. Had the bbq plater with seitan ribz, amazing mac n cheeze, slaw and really flavoursome beans. We also had the chickn crunch wrap with chips. In the wrap was some mac n cheeze as well as chickn, lettuce and sauces. Really good. They also do sides including loaded fries. We would definitely return.

Amazing in-house made food and incredibly friendly staff! We got a selection of dips with our insanely good smoked fries which were all amazing, but the smoky salt on its own was so good I kept dipping my finger in it!

My boyfriend took me here for lunch. It was such a lovely vibe. It was a cozy and warm atmosphere. I am a new vegetarian, and the food was gorgeous. It was very satisfying and fresh. I left in a very good mood. Looking forward to going back again.

Cozy warm and inviting atmosphere with food that warms the heart and the soul. On a windy and cold December evening Stoked was the perfect place for an cozy dinner for two. Our server was attentive and welcoming without being intrusive, I ordered the OG smoke House plate (smoked Tempeh ribz, coleslaw, pit beans and mac and cheese) and some of smoke house chips. The food arrived in good time and the chef came over to tell us exactly what wood had been used that day to smoke the food. It was obvious from the start that this is more than a job for this chef, this is a passion. If there was any doubt in my mind it melted as soon as I tried the food. All the elements of my meal where full of flavour, the ribz where smokey but not over powering, the slaw was fresh and crisp. The mac and cheese was spot on and the pit beans are just something else! In short stoked has some quality smoked foods that you can literally taste the passion with which it is cooked, presented in a cozy and inviting atmosphere, will be going back for brisket that's for sure!
