Stein Strasse in Derby

The doorman would not let me in a few months ago, never said why. Only been there once before for one drink and left. Clearly got me mixed up with someone else, but to not be allowed to enter and no reason is so sad. Would change my mind on this review if I get support and an apology. Thanks for the owners response admitting that they don't care about people getting wrongly judged. They just don't care whos who I'm afraid. Do not recommend going here, once you get mixed up with a random person you're as good as gone.

Good, decent place, decent music, decent staff, expensive drinks, but in the city centre that's what it is unfortunately. Worth at least one drink, then move on.

This place is Plum-believable, the vibes, the cocktails the bar staff, seriously this place is the apple of my eye. I don’t go out much but I thought id squeeze the day and come for a cocktail or five. Never change, you’re Pear-Fect stein strasse

Best place in Derby for a night out. The staff are the most helpful out of the city. If you’re of any age this is the place to be they’ve got music and menu for all ages let alone dancing on the tables. The club that isn’t a club in my eyes 🤩

Dan and Jordan work really hard to run the best venue in derby I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good time

Don't bother with a cocktail here. Look lovely on the pictures with fruit but nothing like when you get them.

Wouldn’t bother. 5 staff, no customers and still hard to get served. Cocktails ermmm!!! Cheap and nasty. No fruit or finishing as shown on the menu. Apparently the manager has stopped buying it! That’s a no from me.

Unfortunately found the doormen very unprofessional, Facebook live streaming themselves whilst at work and during security incidents/fights etc. A shame as this is a great venue that Monarch bring into disrepute!

If you like to be pushed around on your nights out by bouncers who had a poor upbringing and love a power trip on their non- existent future, visit Stein. During my experience in Stein, I found the bouncers to be completely over-aggressive. During my 5+ years of nights out within Derby city centre, I have found that, without a doubt, the bouncers of Stein are aggressive, unreasonable, and quite frankly seem as if they love the power trip of the experience. It is my greatest recommendation for the managers of stein, the bouncers be replaced for a more fair and open-minded staff. Within my experience, I saw many people dancing on the seating area of the benches, then once the benches became full, people started to migrate onto the table itself. At this point, the bouncer became very aggressive and shouted that we should get down immediately with various vulgar language involved in this process. It is my highest recommendation that unless you are between the ages of 18 and 19 or 35 to 45 that you do not visit Stein under any circumstances. Great selection of beers and quick service

Bouncers were welcoming and made sure everyone had a good night also when fights started they was there to keep everyone safe from the violence

I’d put 0 stars if I could. Bouncers were so rude to my friend as he had a bag on him?? (For reference a crossbody bag, no bigger than an a4 piece of paper) Why is it one rule for women and another for men? When we asked them why he couldn’t take it in and search it they started screaming at us, ruined my friends birthday with her crying.

Went in here as I was intrigued by the cocktail offer. However, very dead not a lot of people in which could be due to it not being a busy night in Derby. But you would think if you only have a number of customers you can count on one hand that the staff would be a bit more welcoming and polite. When ordered the drinks barely said thank you, thrusted the card machine in my boyfriend's face with a grunt. Couldn't fault the drinks themselves. However won't be going again due to the service, staff need to work on manners and communication. Maybe then more people would come back!

I suffered racism, the security guards kicked me out of the bar, because they confused me with someone else and only kicked me out for my appearance, I explained several times that it wasn't me but someone else, but they didn't want to listen to me, really great service. I recommend for white people 👏

Best place in Derby, the staff are amazing and helpful, the atmosphere is brilliant, and as a bonus the manager is incredibly sexy. Not to mention the great variety of drinks on offer 🍻 I would even go as far to say I will name my first child Stein. No ragrets x

Had a great night at Stein Strasse, would reccomend. The doormen we quick and friendly and the staff were a delight, felt like the atmosphere was very welcoming and the 2 for 10 cocktails were amazing. Would go again.

Stein strasse always has a fun and vibrant atmosphere with staff who are knowledgeable and willing to help choose the right drink for the night.

The staff there are so friendly and engaging, it’s a busy bar on the weekend but the service is consistent. Good value for drinks, especially the cocktails! Amazing atmosphere, no better bar to go to in derby on the weekend!

Me and a few friends were having some drinks and we came across Stein Strasse. We noticed that the venue was very lively and everyone was enjoying themselves. The drinks were great and we all had an amazing time, there’s not many places that will let you dance on the benches! It’s been a long time since we’ve all let our hair down like we did at Stein! Thank you to all the staff! Your hard work is appreciated :)

Was not aloud in as I am a diabetic and had my insulin in my bag and apparently we are not aloud bags although I have been in meny times and was always fine ,door man was very arrogant and told me I have eyes well read ,there was a small sign that sed no bags ,I was not drunk nor aggressive in any way it felt like discrimination was at play hear always been fine before but for some reson very arrogant as it was the first bar we went to and was just here to meet some friends but because I am diabetic I am not aloud. To anyone that has to take medication out with them I would not recommend

This may sound like an odd thing to get wound up by but this place is missing the point and missing a trick. With the name, the selection of German beers and the general vibe of the decor, this looks like it should be a good German styled bar. And I love German food and Drink so this should be perfect. And as much as I enjoy drinking a Stein of German Pilsner, the place still doesn't feel very German. I think the music is the main issue. It's generic British chart music. I've been in a few times and I hoped to feel like i've been transported into Germany with German music. Instead I'm listening to Lady GaGa and the Killers. It's a decent enough bar and I'm happy to go back, but I just feel like they aren't committing to their gimmick.

Agressive security guards who always wants to fight.

Security guards were overly aggressive, looking for conflicts. Falsely accuse you of verbal abuse towards other customers and forcefully (strangling, takedown) force you to leave without any peacefully explained reasoning. Particularly the skinny short security guard. 1/100

Bouncer trigger happy, got kicked out for no real reason apart from my foot was on the table, don’t go if you want a good time, The Bless is far better and less likely to get kicked out of. Stein bouncers are a joke, power hungry and attention seeking. Poor and they don’t explain why decisions are made.

The staff were lovely and friendly. But the fried chicken left something to be desired. Very mediocre and certainly not authentic in my opinion. The cocktails had barely any fruit in them either

Bouncers were so rude, aggressive and ignorant. We were in the queue for an hour and they let so many people push in and when I complained they were heroines to me. I am a small /1 year old girl who was only polite to them. They made me cry.

A great fun bar with a brilliant band. I'll be looking out for this combination again!

Great place , great atmosphere when the live bands are on.

We did not eat here but went for drinks before moving elsewhere for a works Christmas do. The atmosphere was great with friendly staff. They also offer beer pong which was great fun for everyone to be involved. The menu looked great - definitely will be back to try the food!

Went on a Saturday night as we have before. No umpah band just a DJ playing dance cliche songs whilst nearly blowing the speakers. This place used to be so much better. Seems like they've lost their identity and become another derby bar.

Stein cocktails are class, bar women are lovely especially blondie she’s extra class wanna hug her lots. But the day time is f’ed because shoeless girls stood on all the tables. Mad really.

Although the staff are friendly and helpful and the ambience is fairly pleasant, anyone looking for the genuine Keller experience will be disappointed.

One of the few dining establishments open in Derby on a Bank holiday, we had a pleasant dinner. The atmosphere is warm and casual. Service was prompt. Quality of the food ranged from average to above average.

I called into here on Wednesday night to get a pint and a drink. A good pint of Guiness excellently poured by Sophie and the menu looked good and even better was that I was then told that the food is 1/2 price on a Wednesday. I ordered the beef burger with some additions and was very impressed with what I was served! A cracking board of food that I couldn't finish (one bite of the burger and 2 chips left)! Very impressed and whole heartedly recommended. Thanks to Sophie and the chef (who came and made sure the food was up to standard)!

Had a great evening here, was great to see people dancing on tables and having a good time. Crowd was slightly younger for my liking on a Saturday night. But obviously it is peak times, maybe good to have a night for us oldies (over 25s at least) nevertheless was a great atmosphere, good range of music, great drinks, very different to the norm, definitely will be visiting again soon and telling all my friends so that they can also enjoy.

Busy place but good vibes. Mostly for students but don't let that put you off. Drinks are good and plenty of cocktails at good prices too.

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime. Beer was good. Ordered Frankfurter’s which states with fries and sauerkraut but when it arrived it was a hot dog with chips! The waitress stated they haven’t served sauerkraut for months and it needs removing from the menu. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but at nearly 10 quid it feels like I’ve had my trousers pulled down. Come on Stein Strauss - sort it out.

Good atmosphere and great music. Drink choice are good but they are a bit pricey. You can dance on the seats but not the tables! Great place for a good night out, or drop in as part of a beer night out

Mixed platters are well worth the visit, but the two will feed three. Bier was good, service was very friendly and helpful. Definitely need a visit for a night out.

Have been here multiple times since it opened and had a great experience every time. As someone who isn't a big fan of beer, going to a Bavarian place was a little risky but the knowledgeable and friendly staff allowed me to try a variety of beers before I found a couple that I loved enough to get a full Stein of. As well as the beer, the food so far has been perfect to warm me up after walking around in the cold. I can recommend almost anything on the menu as it's delicious, hearty and cooked well. I'm soon leaving Derby and this will be one of the places I miss the most, it's really that good!

Such a great night! Food was good and entertainment brill! Staff went out of their way to make sure our evening was awesome, especially the host who did a great job of controlling us rowdy bunch! Defo the best place to be in Derby on a Friday!

It's a good bar but £18.40 for two drinks? We stayed for one. My Christmas party is booked there may have to change it.

Visited early on a Friday night as we had just done the escape room next door and popped in on the way to our curry house
