Starlight Chinese in Belfast

First time I've tried here. I got the chicken in black bean sauce with rice. Good quality chicken, unlike some Chinese. The black bean was nice and not too strong. Overall impressed.

We ordered dinner for 6 and the food was delicious. Fresh, hot and very reasonably priced. We’ve started using this restaurant for our last few takeaways. The portions are amazing too.

Been using this place for over 15 years, best chickrn curry in the town .Havent had a bad meal from it no matter which food I've chosen.

Normally we order from here because the food is good and great value. For the three of us it was usually around £18 delivered. Last night we got charged £17.40 for just 2 of us ordering our usual. Something isn't right so we'll just find another place, sadly.

We have ordered from here in the past but Unfortunately the food we ordered this time wasn’t good. The beef was tough and chewy and the chow mien was watery. I wont be rushing back again.

Where do i start, the salted chilli chicken is the best anywhere, the fried rice is not the usual brown colour you get, more an off white colour cooked with a little egg and oil, simply delicious. The curry is aromatic and the chicken is very tender, like its been poached. The black bean is nice too, in fact everythings good. The portions could be slightly bigger but maybe thats because its so nice you want more😀 The staff are very pleasant as well, i drive past 5 chinese takeaways to go here, enough said!

Best Chinese and consistently good. We drive over 16 miles to get here but its worth it. Particularly good is their Chicken, black bean, green peppers and mushrooms. Also chicken curry and sweet and sour. Never bin disappointed in over ten years. Wish you'd open a shop near me!!!

My favourite Chinese curry in Belfast and love the salted chilli ribs. Singapore chow mein also highly recommended.

This is our local and we love it. Can’t actually fault it. Staff are lovely and it’s a quick turnaround. Great takeaway menu.

Good family run Chinese, although counter staff attitudes are questionable. A 4 on the hygiene rating, and recently found an eyelash in the rice which immediately put me off the food. Saturday nights are extremely busy, which can sometimes reflect on the quality of food-they do provide a very quick service.

I’ve eaten out of here for years and have never been disappointed. Ok it isn’t fine dining but then it is a Chinese and as such it hits the spot.

The opening hours this restaurant advertise are definitely very loose. A moveable feast. I'd been calling for 20minutes before I gave up. So disappointed because I walked past it just 10 minutes before I tried calling and they were open. At 11.15. I won't be calling back. So unprofessional.

Love Starlight Takeaway. Have tried several takeaways and always go back to starlight as you can't go wrong. Nice fresh food and lovely family owned place. Cheers.

Child size portions! Very, very disappointed. Not value for money. Used to be a reputable take-away but not anymore. Won't be back. There are so many Chinese take-aways to choose from.

Great food - great value. One of the best Chinese takeaways I've ever had in Belfast. Friendly staff too.

Today i ordered honey chilli chicken, noodles and gravy chip - so disappointed. Never had a gravy chip in a small Chinese carton (child size portion) chicken was dry absolutely no sauce in container and noodles didnt even have a little bit of onion. Horrible dull boring Chinese!!!! Wldnt recommended the Starlight

Friday 's wouldn't be the same without our usual Pan pan chicken and noodles. Food lovely, service good.

This place was very good but last three times I ordered the standard was very poor indeed Every thing was poor quality and poorly cooked would certainly not recommend this establishment for a Chinese takeaway

Food and prices are great although the Belfast woman who delivers and answers the phone is a cheeky b**** really needs to learn some manners!

Este establecimiento es puramente un llevar sin sentarse en. La comida aquí es siempre muy bien preparada y condimentada, sin salsas duramente de colores o sintéticos de degustación. La dulce y amarga rollos primavera y sería nuestras recomendaciones. las instalaciones son impecables y el personal es siempre amable y eficiente.

I initially reviewed this place and gave them 4 stars but after a recent visit I'm upping it to a 5, as I think I just simply forgot how delicious the food out of this takeaway is! Starlight is a great takeaway, a favourite of mine which sells traditional Chinese food (well traditional as in European-Chinese, all the old favourites!). Especially good vegetable satay and curry. The pineapple fritter is also delicious. Chips are good quality too, probably the best quality I've tried from a Chinese takeaway. Pleasant and friendly staff and they offer a delivery service also...

Since I passed my driving test late last year, I have had the advantage of travelling further afield for decent food. My local Chinese exchanged hands and, subsequently, became, quite frankly, horrendous. I ventured back to Starlight after many years and settled on Mushroom Foo Yung - a change from gravy half and half - and since then have made too many visits and have had to join a well known slimming club. Unfortunately after my first AND second weigh in I went and got a Mushroom Foo Yung (8) and fried rice (16!). I need this place to move or I'll have to. I'll set up a restraining order against myself. Added bonus - fussy Mum said 'Oh, this is nice, not gloopy.' They passed the gloop test. That's like the Egon Ronay style of approval you know. I love you but I have to visit you less. It hurts me more than it hurts you. The staff are fabulous too. Babes.

Great wee takeaway - a favourite of mine - traditional Chinese food. Especially good satay and curry. Chips are good too. Pleasant & friendly staff.

I visited here sunday round 6pm got food can honestly say the worst chenise food ever pure disgusting terible wouldn't gave it to your dog dont waste your money there more chenise takeaway 2 min down road

We have had food delivered and collected ourselves on many occasions. As far as i know, this restaurant has not changed hands in many years. This is a testament of how an eatery can get it right from the outset. It has all the old favourites along with a handful of house specials that actually are special. It's not the menu that brings us back time and again, it's the quality and high standard of what we put on our plates. I couldn't single out a special dish, they all are.

This is in my opinion the best chinese takeaway in south belfast. My family and I have been ordering from here for years and rarely consider trying anywhere else.
