I have just been dismayed but the service I received in your Colcheter Western approach branch. (47473) I wanted to buy a gift card for my brother birthday. Firstly, they did not have any happy birthday gift cards. Inconvenient, but we work round it. Secondly, I asked the server specifically if it came in a holder before I paid for the gift. To which he replied yes. (Server called Alex) He then proceeded to put the gift card (no larger than 10cm by 10cm) into a big paper bag, no holder, nothing, just a small gift in a massive bag. This is not what I asked for and looks ridiculous when I’m trying to give this as a gift. Yes, I can slide the gift card into the birthday card itself but I would of thought being a massive company that you are; you would have a better process for selling and presenting gift cards to customers. Not impressed at all at the service and/or the presentation of the product I have paid for after being misinformed prior to payment.

I came in the drive through yesterday it was super rushed and I was parked as soon as I got to the window, I ordered an iced caramel latte, the person on the window seemed stressed. I always come through and in the store too, I don’t see Danny anymore (whom I guess was the manager) he always seemed lovely and connected with everyone. I don’t get that vibe anymore, I feel like there’s been a change. I hope this store gets back to what it used to be. This was my go to Starbucks as it’s an ideal place for me to stop at, but due to today’s experience I don’t always want to get parked up, I enjoy a chat at the window.

Went in a few months back. The atmosphere was lovely and the iced Americano I got was delicious but the staff seemed rather unwelcoming and judgemental. I tried to be as nice as possible, I didn't kick up a fuss or argue. Overall, not the worst experience but definitely far from the best. The service wasn't that quick, but I can completely understand. It was fairly busy at the time. I will still remember my experience for the attitude I was given. It wasn't just one member of staff, it was everyone I interacted with. I do not wish to complain and I am in no way angry or anything, but I hope the feedback I offer can be of some help.

Lovely staff as always! I'm very picky with the way my tea is made but they are normally very accommodating if I want more hot oat milk. I can't give five stars because they got rid of my favourite food the chocolate chunk shortbread so now I only buy tea from Starbucks. I also need them to start selling the teavana earl grey tea in stores or online because it has a touch of lavender in it which just makes it taste so good. I can't give five stars to atmosphere because I never sit in, I stop on my way into deep Essex but it is my favourite Starbucks to stop at on my journey. Also the new shopping area with m&s food, B & Q, and more shops just made it even better to stop for Starbucks and shop.

Staff are super lovely! I was served by Claire who made really lovely small talk with myself and my little sister and was super helpful with the app which I’m useless at. Tilly made our drink for us which was perfect! Exactly as ordered and super speedy. When they heard it was my little sister birthday they really when above and beyond to make her feel special writing on her cup and give her a free chocolate coin :-) super happy girl! Thank you both!

We went into the coffee shop last weekend and ordered coffee, we were then spoken to abruptly and said no cash haven’t you read the sign, I thought this was quite rude. We then tried again this week but went through the drive through instead … we ordered our coffee but when we got to the window to pay there was chaos going on around the till area, we were then asked what coffee we had ordered, So I told the man we had a Chai latte and a caramel latte, He then told us we had paid for somebody else’s coffee and they would need to refund us, I wasn’t happy but okay, and they said it will take two days to refund me meaning I was paying twice for my coffee for the next two days, We were told to park along the side of the building, and the coffees were brought out within five minutes, Upon receiving a coffee, they both tasted awful, and we threw them away and drove off! The first coffee I had was cold , they replaced this straight away. The food we all had was nice . The spiced chicken wrap I enjoyed. Having the drive through window and door open on the other side creates a through draught. You need to wrap up warm in the winter months . It might have been warmer to sit outside. Staff do their best .

Visited this store yesterday. 7 members of staff behind counter and only one person making coffee...after a very long wait, my coffees that were to drink in were slammed on the counter. I asked if they were mine and said they were to have in (they were in takeaway cups) and the girl glared at me shrugged at turned away. I get they were busy but where is the customer service. Plus after that the cups were half full and the worst coffee I have tasted in a long while!!! Won't be going back..rude staff long wait awful coffee, dirty environment

Unfortunately the drive-thru is getting worse. Average is a 30 minute wait, today I’ve been here for well over an hour. No apologies, don’t listen to drinks orders effectively. They think extra shot of coffee equals extra hot. Not sure if employees have learning disabilities, in which more training is required. Tired of being told that orders in store come first. The drive thru is for people who don’t have time to go in. People these days just operate differently I guess.

Visit daily to order a matcha, staff seem to work continuously and are extremely polite. This evening 21/9/23 ordered the usual 2 hot Matcha lattes with coconut milk via drive thru. Server with various colours in her hair, polite. A Lady (from Manchester) who was making drinks had a mishap with one of the machines and steam was dispersed into the store, maybe distracted her from concentration and this may have caused the outcome. Drove home with our hot drinks, daughter tasted hers and said it tastes like Oat Milk, mine was fine. Test hers, it certainly wasn’t coconut milk, it’s the 2nd mistake in a couple of weeks. Immediately telephoned the store and made them aware of their mistake and informed them of my daughter’s allergies, manager who informed me of her name (Pam Watson Smith) stated I should have informed them of any allergies, I pointed out that we ordered 2 hot matcha lattes with coconut milk why would I need to inform them of anything else. 2 ingredients into a cup, WE already know the ingredients. Pam Watson Smith offered a free drink for the mishap. WHAT’S FREE? I didn’t receive the drink I paid for… Still @ £9.90 per day, literally 7 days a week. It’s not the mistake that has deterred us from spending the money, it was Pam’s customer service skills. BUT THEY WON’T CARE!

Really friendly staff. We were served by a young lady who apologised because she was new and wanted someone to check she'd done everything correctly. She'd got our order spot on. The almond croissant was really fresh, and the peach iced tea very refreshing. It was rather noisy, due to there being high ceilings and wooden flooring, the customer area was very clean which was excellent. A very pleasant visit.

I went through the drive-thru and ordered a chocolate cream Frappuccino but when I drove off the drink tasted like coffee for some reason, I’m sure just an honest mistake. But when we went round again to politely tell them about the issue the person who made the drink barked “well there’s no coffee in it I’m the one who made it, but I’ll remake it anyway” seems over the top for something so simple. Remade drink also still tasted incorrect so I will be reluctant to return to this branch.

Had an awful coffee, I took it back to say that I thought they used the wrong syrup by accident, I was very polite but the girl was so uninterested, to the point of being rude. She remade it reluctantly but it tasted the same, I realised it must have been the amount of syrup in it. It tasted disgusting, of pure sugar, no coffee flavour at all but with the attitude from the staff before, I just left it and didn’t drink much of it. When you pay between £4-£5 you expect to have a decent drinkable coffee. I can see why there are other negative reviews.

Ordered a couple of sandwiches and two of the new oat and honey lattes. Sandwiches came out and sat on the side for 10 minutes before someone even decided to say my name for them to be collected. I didn't collect them before, as I thought these were for someone else, due to there being a large queue of waiting people in front of me. When the coffees came out, they looked like bubble baths, I don't think the baristas know how to steam oat milk, as this does not happen if oat milk is steamed properly. One of the coffees did not even have the said honey and hazelnut syrup in it, and had to go back to the staff for this to be rectified, no real apology given just an "oh right OK". Cup was taken away and pumped said syrup and handed back. Honestly, I'm shocked that Starbucks isn't sued for false advertising...as my coffee looked nothing like what was on the poster behind the till. Don't go here... that's the last time I will be going to chainstore coffee shops. Would give it 0 stars if that was an option.

SHOCKING. Went through the drive through, my other half was ordering a drink but wasn’t sure what it was called so turned his head to me so I could tell him. The man behind the drive through was more than rude having ago at us because he was turning his head as he ‘couldn’t hear him’. Got to the paying part and he refused to give us our order. Went into the building to re-order my drink and specifically asked for that rude man to not serve me but yet no one listened and he still began to serve me slapping his hands on the tablet for my order. Not only this … my order was completely wrong! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. The man was a tall male wearing a hoodrich hat and claims him self as the ‘ manager ‘ then slipped up that he actually wasn’t the manager. So they also lie! Don’t even want to give this a 1 star rating as it’s not worth any ratings.

Haven't been in for a while and now i remember why dirty tables super long wait for what you have ordered not to mention your drinks not being made together so by the time you get the rest of your order the first part is luke warm and a partial cup of coffee and rather than what you actually ordered. All in all had it not have been 6.30pm when we came to get coffee we would have gone to Costa but unfortunately they shut at 7pm and we wanted more than 30 minutes to sit down together. This place needs a manager that can make it what it should be so that people can have the experience they deserve and have paid for.

This was a nice Starbucks a year or so ago, and was 5 stars from me. Recent visit was not great. Seating is a muddle, and like the waiting area at Argos. Staff are busy, and don't look to happy about it... And it smelled like old chip oil? No idea why. That said, drinks were all nice. Maybe just drive through and avoid sitting in next time

I visited Starbucks at Colchester yesterday to get a ‘quick’ coffee but unfortunately this took over half an hour, I don’t know if the there were staffing issues but there looked to be enough people in sight to be able to cope with normal demand but it was very painful and I left saying I will never go back especially paying the extortionate price of 3.57 for 1 cup of coffee! I left feeling very frustrated and in turn made my family late for a day out. There was a very Un-genuine apology when I finally got the drink as if there was no issue with the fact so many people had waiting around so long for the most simple of orders. Very very surprised and disappointed with this Starbucks branch. I’m not usually one to complain nor write reviews but felt this was just unacceptable.

Mediocre experience at this Starbucks. It feels like empty and cold like a shell, which isnt usual for Starbucks. There wasn't a queue inside and we sat inside, however it seemed they were busy with the drive-thru. Unfortunately this meant the inside was a bit deflected. Both bins were over flowing with rubbish, which was then being left on the tables close to them. Tables hadn't been wiped and the toilets left a lot to be desired. We had to ask for more syrup in a ice chai latte as it was essentially just a cup if oat milk, and our caramel latte didn't have any caramel sauce in like it usually does. Also they did not have the biggest selection or stock of snacks. For a regular Starbucks going, I would not go back to this store.

Puts other branches to shame. I didn’t realise how much Starbucks could vary until visiting this drive through regularly upon moving into the area. The staff are extremely diligent, polite and well mannered above and beyond the experience I’ve had at 99% of other Starbucks establishments. The drive-thru queue can run slowly, but this is only because the staff correctly manage their workload as to not get overwhelmed and sacrifice on quality of service. I’ve been to far too many Starbucks drive-thru’s where the staff are trying to juggle in store and drive-thru orders which results in them not listening to your order and poorly making your drink (which is more common than you’d think). The staff here always make the drinks exactly how they are supposed to - no badly made (or unmixed) drinks, or messy cups spilling all over your car. Nice Starbucks but pretty slow, seem to prioritise the drive thru orders. Waited 8 minutes for an iced latte.

We went here for a catch up lunch with friends. I booked in advance and was told we could only stay until 14.30 due to there being a wedding taking place. I really appreciated this communication in advance as it allowed us to manage our visit so thank you Vicky. I thought the venue, food and atmosphere was first class and beat my expectation. I would especially like to mention Oscar and Iris for all of their help and kindness. For young members of staff they are both a credit to this establishment and made an already great visit even better. We live over 50 miles away from the Whalebone so it won’t be a regular visit for us, but I can assure you I will return when planning a visit. Well done all involved.

This place is everything a pub should not be. The staff are miserable, the beer (says my husband) is dreadful, and then there's the agreesive atmosphere, which is awful. We will NEVER visit here again. What a waste of a good location. This pub clearly needs new owners.

Came here randomly on a Sunday night as we fancied a curry, and were pleasantly surprised how great it was! Super quick food, staff were lovely and we had probably the best chicken tikka masala we’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back! Thanks

Excellent place very welcoming, clearly they know their regular customers. I wasn't but was still looked after perfectly with a well cooked hot breakfast. Great service thankyou
