We really enjoyed our Saturday evening visit to Stage Door at the end of July 2024. Modern, clean and well spaced out dining area. The highlight of our visit...super friendly, helpful and really good service. We had three sirloin steaks, cooked from blue/rare, rare/medium and medium. All very good and nice steaks. The forth person of our party had the moussaka. Four good meals, all arrived together and cooked just right. Accompanied by a bottle of French red wine. We had starters, the halloumi and a portion of houmous for four. Again very good. A really enjoyable hour or so in pleasant surroundings with attentive and really friendly staff. Thank you. Another delightful dinner in this charming Greek restaurant, not our first visit but we are l becoming serious fans. Slightly mad 70s/90s decor, but charming staff, lovely fresh Greek food, Drinkable house wines ( white better than the red) and no wines exorbitant. Highly recommended:))

I’m an American who never writes reviews. I live in Wimbledon, and I love a great med-rare fillet. You know, it can be very hard to find a correctly cooked piece of meat here!!! If you want a fab steak in Wimbledon town, GO HERE. It’s almost never busy and I don’t know why. I’ve been here several times - I live a few blocks away - always getting the fillet and asparagus and never disappointed. Tonight I had the most crisp-tender asparagus ever. They usually have a pretty solid rotating dessert selection, too. And the gentleman who takes care of me is lovely. So here it is - my first Google review. Eat here.

Absolutely smashed it out the park, food and service was amazing you can tell it’s a family run business lovely staff and atmosphere best steak by a long mile. Owner is a top feller a proper gentleman, for the price you can’t beat it will definitely be going back. Amazing!!

A lovely family run restaurant, always made to feel welcome. Food is excellent. I would definitely recommend the kleftico - the best I've had outside Rhodes. If you have room for dessert, try their lemon cheesecake which is so light and tasty.

I booked my Birthday meal at the stage Door as I had only been once before we tried last year but the were fully booked. The table was booked for 14 including a 3 year old granddaughter. All the food was hot and fantastic the service was spot on I could not fault it. Our table was down the middle of the Restaurant. I was very surprised when the owner rang me to check the details with me and also asked about the person who required Gluten Free he explained about the small kitchen and that his wife had replied to my email I said yes she did thank you. So to the Stage Door Staff Thank you all we all enjoyed our food. I did only eat half my steak but I just could not eat anymore so my son finished it. The big surprise of the evening was when they placed a piece of cake and ice cream in front of me and then lit a sparkling candle and the staff sang happy birthday. Again thank you to everyone at the stage Door Wimbledon.

Had the pork skewers with chips. The portion sizes was more for like a 4 year old child.The meat off the skewers was the size of olives. The steaks looked good.

Wonderful food. Lovely tasting souvlaki and the best rice I have eaten. My hubby had the fillet steak, I had a try and it was soft and very tender. Wonderful staff , a family run business I think. Wonderful chilled out meal before the theatre. Would definitely recommend. Pics aren't great as restaurant was dimly lit.

This family run restaurant has been a low key feature of Wimbledon for many years, but it deserves to be better known. My wife and I haven’t been here for some time, but I am reminded of how good it is. The ambience is relaxing with comfortable seating and unobtrusive background music. The dolmades were delicious, my wife had halloumi, which is hard to get wrong, but lovely nevertheless. The Kleftiko was a delight as was the moussaka likewise. We can’t speak for the steaks, but if they are as good as the Greek specialities they’ll be worth having! We will be back

Visited for a pre-show meal and had the most delicious food. We ordered Kleftiko which comes with rice and saute potatoes, and the swordfish which we had with vegetables. Everything was amazing. The kleftiko had so much meat on it and it fell off the bone. The swordfish had a lovely caper sauce and fresh lemon. With a soft drink and a glass of house red wine the bill was £52.00. We both left full to bursting and will definitely be back again. For our next visit we’ll leave more time to try starters and puddings. Service was great, thank you for a lovely meal.

Visited before a show a theatre. Didn’t book but luckily they found us a table. Good food , generous portions. Attentive service.

Staying at Premier Inn nearby popped in for a meal. Been here before years ago. It was quiet so service was attentive but not overly so. The guy serving was friendly and chatty. Food was tasty, had starter and main, no room for dessert but they sounded good! A nice evening.

Disappointed, we use to go to the stage door 20 plus years ago when the elderly couple owner the restaurant and it was beautiful, we have very good memories of the service snd food. Last night the food was disappointing, the sauté potato’s were greasy and my husband T- bone streak that he requested medium well was very rare. The service was slow.

Fantastic service from everyone at the Stage Door in Wimbledon. Very attentive. Great choice of food. Excellent quality and quantity of food. Both vegetarian and meat options - something for everyone. Child friendly. Moussaka and grilled salmon were amazing.

A true restaurant, personal feel, cloth napkins, good retro ambiance, incredibly attentive service and lovely Greek food. They also do a variety of steaks I have not tried. A fantastic getaway from restaurant chains and anonymous new restaurants. Will definitely go back

Great meal, service and friendly staff

Looking for something a little different we arrived at Stage Door Greek Steakhouse. Looking in it looked like a scene from Twin Peaks, a miss match of decor from previous decades and not too busy, some would say this is a bad sign, but Google reviews told another story. If I could give 6 stars, I would. From the moment we arrived to the time of leaving the experience was exceptional. Service was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable but what really stole the show was the food. The fillet steak was one of the best I’ve ever eaten and I’m a carnivore. The homemade beef bone gravy, the fresh fries perfectly fried, the humous and tzatziki was fresh and perfectly seasoned, the pita bread was warmed and so obviously home cooked. Seriously great food…

We found this lovely (understated) restaurant. I think last year when we came to Wimbledon, we walked straight past it but I’m glad that this year we went in. Fantastic service, really good, fresh, tasty Greek food and all at a reasonable price.

The fillet steak was unbelievable, possibly the best I’ve ever had. My mum loved the pork souvlaki too. Great atmosphere, great service, perfect food 😍

We had beautiful food, hot, flavoursome, excellent portion size, great service, value for money. The staff were friendly and very helpful and I felt safe to eat here with a serious food allergy. We had Calamari, Chicken, Salmon, Tiramisu and Lemon cheesecake. We would come again if in the area and definitely recommend.

Friendly and professional staff. The food was nice, but the portions did look a little small. Some of the desserts didn't really work, the raspberry chocolate cake was too sweet. Think they need to be less experimental with them. Main courses good but as I said, maybe smaller than other Greek style restaurants I have been to.

We went to the stage door today for the first time, very friendly and welcoming, great value for money, very fresh food, had a fantastic experience, such a comfortable environment, will definitely be returning. Definitely a 5 star experience.

We stumbled on the restaurant while spending Valentines Day in Wimbledon. The place had a real friendly buzz to it. Would defo return. The people on the next table were going to the theatre and recommended the tiramisu (with 2 spoons as so big ) but after our share starter of garlic prawns followed by kleftico for my partner and moussaka for me - we had no room. Attention to detail was great as I asked for no cucumber in the salad and so many places don’t follow this request. The restaurant is family run and great. We will be back. 👍

40 years a chef and I've just found the best steak in London. Cooked to perfection and served with a smile and friendly team. 5 star all day and will definitely be returning!

My favourite restaurant,. Kleftico is great

The place is great, comfortable and easy to be in. Unfortunately, the food is not good. Apart from a great T-bone steak, it’s very disappointing. Prawn cocktail ( old fashioned but nice), tasted of vinegar, sautéed potatoes dry and tasteless, soggy green beans. Basics done badly.

Steaks a bit pricey but excellent taste/flavours and service. Been many times over the years. Oh hallumi cheese starter was perfect.

Have just had a meal here and we were sadly so disappointed. Service was very slow and we felt forgotten about. Starters came and then they offered us lovely olive bread with butter with sarsons vinegar(!) and olive oil and then literally served our mains! Main course both Greek specialities, Kleftico and Souvlaki- not at all authentic! Kleftico looked like a frozen lamb shank with. a watery stock like oxo cube - not rich lamb falling off the bone after slow cooking- as it should be. Didn’t bother with desert as so uninspiring. We will not be hurrying back. The house red was ok. A few tweaks and some proper authentic , properly cooked Greek food would make this lovely. Considering this restaurant markets itself as a Greek restaurant- it is basic not rustic and don’t bother! Very disappointed! Also waited 15 minutes for our bill and not once did they check to see if we were enjoying our meal.

Fabulous service and food and very reasonable. The staff were lovely and very welcoming even though we hadn't booked a table (we will definitely book in advance next time). The post and pre theatre crowd were all buzzing and the restaurant heightened that aura of specialness. Hot, authentic Greek food - could almost feel the breeze from the Aegean!

Would highly recommend this friendly family run restaurant. We ate whitebait, lovely olive bread balsamic vinegar and olive oil then Souvlaki of pork and Chicken with beautiful Greek salad rice and sauté potatoes. All delicious, will not pass by if I’m Wimbledon again.

This is a little gem of a place. It should be much more popular than it seems to be - possibly as it’s 100 yards away from the centre. The owner is polite friendly efficient and obliging, he also seems proud of what they do and what they deliver. We had a selection of dips and pita to start all great but the taramasalata in particular was brilliant. Two main courses of fillet steak and one salmon - both steaks one rare one medium rare cooked perfectly and as good a steak as I’ve had . The wife enjoyed her salmon too - the sautéed potatoes were lovely- we finished with a large shared baclava which again was great. We were visiting for the tennis from Liverpool - cost wise it was really good , I don’t think it would have cost much less back “up-north”. Oh the house red was decent too.

My wife and I decided to try ‘ Stage Door ‘prior to going to the theatre, this was so convenient as the theatre was just across the road. We had booked a early table as to relax and enjoy our time before the show started. We were greeted by a friendly face and had a choice of tables to sit at ( as we were the first customers through the door ). We were given the menus to choose our food and were not rushed into ordering and having some polite conversation with our host. We both decided to try the Greek dishes that were on offer, my wife opting for the pork souvlaki and myself the lamb kelftiko both dishes were of excellent standard. We followed this with both having the Tiramisu which was to die for. Finished with coffee and a excellent meal to remember. Will certainly return the next time we are attending the theatre

I called the night before and was lucky enough to get the last table as my self and three friends were going to the theatre opposite to see blood brothers. We arrived at restaurant so friendly and welcoming our waitress was lovely really helpful and chatty. We ordered starters main wine and liquor coffees I can honestly say that the food was excellent and service 1st class a clearly very well run restaurant and kirchen even though it was busy everything came out on time hot and great tasting and presentation fab Cannot recommend. This restaurant enough Thankyou for making the end to a perfect day with friends 10 out of 10 Thsnks Denise x

Fantastic restaurant, glad to have found it! Zacharias (guy running the restaurant) will ensure that all guests are satisfied. I would highly recommend their lamb kleftiko! Even in basic aspects, e.g bread, the place is at a high standard with affordable prices. Therefore I aim to visit the place again.

We enjoyed a family meal after the theatre in Wimbledon. I was impressed by the friendly welcoming service and the atmosphere was happy. We were warm and comfortable. I liked the Mediterranean flavours in the food, service and decor - a good contract to dreary London Winter. My dinner was tasty and fresh, home-made touches from a cook who was bothered to make a pleasing dish. We were served quickly and food came out in good time but we were not rushed through. There were plenty other people but it was not too noisy. Good value and I liked the table wine too. Plenty of choice for everyone on the menu. Thank you to the staff who were attentively looking after us.

My party of 13 had the delight of dining here yesterday and what can I say. We was blown away by the outstanding food, every meal was cooked to perfection. The service was second to none, we had a frictionless experience and every aspect was catered for. Thank you once again we will certainly be coming back.

Delighted to find this venue is still going strong Opened since the 1980s this family run Greek restaurant is ideally located for the theatre virtually opposite Very popular in the evenings and at weekends, Dined here for a third time If you love stake then this place will offer you a very reasonable choice, and when accompanied by a sauce you have a pleasant meal The second time I choose the pork equally delightful Desserts are mainly ice cream based, thou just as good. Their salad could do with a boost of olive oil otherwise I liked the place Thank you for a lovely lunch. Three times over.

I can not find words to express how tasty the food was...Me and my husband visited last night for first time.First I felt so cosy as the atmosphere was really friendly and light,tables are not really close to each other as almost everywhere else.Second,you can find really good food options in the menu.And last-the food.I can not remember er last time I ate something that gives me this feeling so I can say "This is really tasty food",without any remarks. Thank you for the great food and the great attitude towards your customers. I recommend with two hands and will be back very soon.

A Wimbledon gem hidden in the open. A fantastic experience and probably one of the best places around to have a steak. Cooked to perfection with amazing grill smokeyness and amazing sauces to go with it. My wife had lamb and it was fork tender and had a depth of flavour and aroma. A lovely family run place in the heart of Wimbledon that we will definitely visit again.

Cosy family run place, didn’t particularly enjoy the food but the staff are very friendly! Basing the review mainly on food I’d give it 3 stars. I had the moussaka, I’ve had better before. It was too watery for my liking and lacked flavour. We also had a chicken dish which also wasn’t very flavoursome. Bar was done up quite nicely but the rest of the restaurant a bit outdated.

Have to honestly say this was a fantastic evening. From the moment we set foot into the restaurant, the mode and setting was absolutely perfect! Had four wonderful starters which we couldn’t find any fault, followed by one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! My wife had the most ‘juiciest’ grilled chicken. You can tell this restaurant is packing some amazing family secrets to their customer’s tables by the great flavours served up! To end the night was served an amazing slice of chocolate cake and my wife a slice of American style cheesecake, to note after questioning we discovered both was freshly home made! The service couldn’t have been any better and we both can’t wait for our next visit back! A massive thank you to the ‘Stage Door Steakhouse’ family!! Wish you all the best and success!!

Lovely service from (I believe) the owners, a real friendly vibe. The food generous portions, very tasty and good value. The king prawn starter was lovely and they kept topping up our bread and sauce very few mins...they literally can’t do enough for you. Fantastic for a cheap eat!!

Lovely family run restaurant- We had a lovely evening. they take care in where they source their ingredients- eg rare halloumi from the Greek mountains. It’s not fancy, But it’s clean, the bathroom decor is outdated- but it’s super clean and clearly the family take pride in how the run it. Mama is on site overseeing. They’ve got Their covid track QR code and sanitiser by the door, ignore their website- it’s way out of date. I’d recommend you support a local family business thats been serving the community for generations- they’re not a chain, so I’m sure struggling to compete. Worth a visit (If I we’re them, I’d reduce their menu during these tough times)

Since 2000 we have been going to this lovelyfamily run establishment, the food has always been superb and it is with great sadness to learn of the sad passing of the owner our most sincere condolences to all the family.

Looking for all the world like a contemporary steak house the Greek heritage of this fabulous family run restaurant is virtually invisible until you take a seat and peruse the menu. The steak offer is extensive - I chose the T bone and wasn’t disappointed....

Mmmmm really good. Family run and so you get really good service. Had fish was cooked really well. Mum had kleftiko 72 year old Cypriot lady who has cooked greek food all her life .... 5 stars from her. If you want to know if authentic greek ask a greek ... and mum always knows best!👍
