There seems to be a completely different atmosphere compared to how it was a couple of months ago. Also the menu has changed with less choice for a lunch. Two main choices of sausage and mash or a 'Special' of vegan chilli baked potato. Even the coffee is not so good now. Used this place for years but will now look elsewhere.

I came here for a very late dinner. Good selection of food but the menu has V and Vg as options, but no explanation as to if this is vegan or vegetarian. When asked staff did not seem sure either and had to go into the kitchen to find out what was vegan. The only options were sausage roll and pasty. I ordered the later and a drink. About 10 mins later I was told that the pasty would take longer than the 10 minutes I had been told, but I had not been given and time scale. When it arrived the pasty was nice and served with a lovely side salad.

The food was very good and staff pleasant but to be honest I have been going here since it opened a number of years ago and nothing has changed in the environment except due to COVID there are less table and chairs All good places need to keep up with the times and up date their environment and this cafe definitely needs to invest in new table, chairs and redecoration. And Plastic school chairs outside is not very enticing. All this is well and good if you are paying very cheap prices but £7.00 for a toasted sandwich is not cheap so you would expect things to be kept updated. I am not writing this review to be horrible, I have visited this establishment since it opened and used to love going …but having not been for some time I was shocked at how drab it all had become. Come On ST Thomas’ the food is good, the staff are lovely …..put some investment into making the cafe a pleasant and modern place to be .

Post lockdown coffee. Great coffee. Bit cold outside so sat at socially distanced table. Food looks as good as before. Friendly service but not much atmosphere.

I was on a course here,( a good venue for a conference or course), and visited the coffee shop! The staff friendly, the venue clean, airy, a good choice on menu, everything made fresh, the cakes etc home made, we had jacket potatoes with cheese and beans, it came with a large fresh crispy salad and home made coleslaw, everything reasonably priced, we certainly be visiting again.

My friend and I visited today, our visit was based upon reviews here and we were really surprised how busy it was. We thought there were no tables available but I spotted two young ladies sharing a sofa by a coffee table with nobody on the facing sofa and suggested to my friend I go and ask if the other sofa was available. Just as I said it a member of staff saw we were trying to work out if there was anywhere for us and suggested we could sit on the sofa, the young ladies belonged to staff who had some childcare issues so they had come to work with them. I had a wonderful freshly baked scone that was as light as a feather and still very slightly warm, my friend had a big slice of lemon cake and some great coffee. The place is lovely, the staff are very friendly too. It did feel a little off putting having an audience for our chatter. One youngster left leaving the other sitting there looking at stuff on her phone or doing some embroidery. We were talking privately but occasionally I would notice her eyes rise above what she was looking at and look at us instead and it was very obvious she was listening to our conversation. As the cafe emptied out a little I suppose we could have moved to another table but the sofa was comfy and we were paying customers so it might have been nice if the youngster had moved instead.

We booked this venue for our sons wedding meal. The staff were more than helpful and very patient with our picky requests and changes of plan. Nothing was too much trouble and when the big day arrived we were so well looked after. The food was lovely with no complaints and special diets were all taken care of. If you are a looking for somewhere I'd reccomend this place to you. The grounds were ideal for photographs and there was real peaceful feel about the place.

Went in for lunch as my step mum lives close by and it was my birthday so we met for lunch. Attentive staff and also accommodating, with us having 2 young children and it not being a huge cafe. I had the tomato salad which was beautiful and the others had ploughmans which they were seriously impressed with.

Really lovely cafe where you get a warm welcome and the food is tasty and well presented. It is hidden behind the church so drive down the right hand side of the church -there is plenty of parking space. Gets busy on a Sunday but useful if you want a coffee before or after church!

Visited with my daughter, best friend and her little girl for breakfast. Our orders got taken, and drinks were brought over near enough straight away, we had ordered scrambled egg on toast, a bun and a glass of milk for the girls which is on a kids deal which was fab. Me and my friend ordered full English breakfasts, with a latte, these came quickly and the service was spot on. The staff made a fuss of the children which was lovely as well. The coffee shop was lovely and clean, we will definitely be back. Thankyou :)

We visited on what seemed like a reasonably quiet day. Lovely place, nice setting but unfortunately that's the only positive. Very slow service, poor coffee and the food was at best average. We both then settled on stale Victoria sponge for dessert. Having visited most of the coffee shops on Chatsworth Road, this one is definitely at the bottom of our ' visit again ' list.

This place was recommended as being very good so we were really looking forward to it. Maybe we visited on a bad day, or maybe they were short staffed, but I am not sure if it could have been any worse than it was. Our drinks seemed to take forever to arrive and when they did they were average at best. Sadly the food was the same and once again took forever to arrive. When we asked to complain, the manager was not available and the lady who dealt with our complaint was quite off hand. The place itself is lovely and they have some nice little gifty things available to buy. Hopefully we just chose a bad day to visit.

We visited St Thomas Coffee Shop this week for the first time and enjoyed a light lunch and a drink. It is pleasant and clean and the staff are friendly. There is plenty to choose from on the menu and the food was good. It wasn't particularly busy and the only slight downside was the time it took for the food to come.

I had visited before and found everything to be satisfactory. I was on this occasion rather disappointed. The cafe was reasonably busy but not overly so. I was left to wait for my coffee for what I considered to be an unreasonable amount of time. In fact I was not the only one to complain. Another couple also complained about the unacceptable delay in receiving their drinks order. My drink, a cappuccino was mainly hot milk with no froth and no chocolate dusting. In fairness the drink was replaced once I brought it to the attention of one of the staff albeit after some grumbling. Such a shame really as there is a lot of competition nearby one of which I will try on my next visit to Chesterfield.

This is probably one of the worst coffee shops Imhave visited in a long time. After waiting for twenty five minutes for drinks, when they arrived they were wrong. The man who served us did not have a clue and preferred to stand and chat than serve. When our food arrived that was also wrong but we did not have time to wait for them to put it right. When I went to the counter to complain, the only saving grace was a more mature lady who was most. Apologetic and offered us free drinks. I couldn't help noticing whilst I was waiting the disgusting state of the kitchen.

I love it here. Friendly and affordable and ideal for breakfast, just a coffee or lunch. I appreciate the space and ease of access due to mobility issues. I have met friends here and eaten with children too. Something on the menu for everyone. The staff are happy and even when busy are still polite and approachable. Eating here can make it affordable to treat your children or family for lunch without it breaking the bank. That said the quality is A1. Clean and your food or drink is always presented well. Open from 9-3 its ideal for busy Mums to meet up after the school run or before pick up.

What do you think of when you think of a 'Church Cafe' - my impression would be hard plastic chairs, instant coffee that is barely drinkable and well-meaning people trying too hard to be nice. Think again - St Thomas Coffee Shop (shame they couldn't think of a better name) has none of these. Fashionably laid out with a combination of leather and wooden chairs and tables (the image on the trip advisor site is for somewhere else!) they serve the full range of coffees we now expect plus a great range of homemade cakes, light lunches and an impressive cooked breakfast and their prices are very competitive. But the best thing for me was the atmosphere - this is a coffee shop which welcomes all ages so there were mums with young children, young professionals, the retired, with my wife and I representing the middle aged! The staff got their service 'just right' and nobody tried to very nicely ram a bible down my throat - we'll be back!
