Went to the St Olaf Golf Hotel for an early evening meal. First time we have had a meal there since the new owners took charge. Would just like to say how much we enjoyed the food, compliments to the chef and his team. The front of house are also to be complemented on their friendly service. Will definitely recommend a visit to the St Olaf.

Regrettably our first choice of restaurant for dinner was full with a wedding party, so we were directed to the restaurant at St Olaf’s hotel, a short drive from our B&B.. The dining area looked very tired and dated, and in desperate need of updating. The tablemats were sticky, and seemed to need a good scrub with hot soapy water.Our waitress, although friendly, looked scruffy, and tired. The menu was unappealing to me, but my husband opted for the steak pie, mash and veg. I just had a bowl of soup. The pie was a bowl of meat and gravy, with a square of rather anemic looking undercooked flaky pastry plonked on top. The veg looked as if they had been boiled for a long time. I would not have served this at all!

FAB Sunday bar lunch here served by very friendly, professional, staff. Hubby had the fish & chips and declared the chips “the very best I’ve had in a long time”. I went for the roast chicken, which was delicious. We shared a sticky toffee pudding served with ice cream & caramelised banana-amazing!! and finished off with coffee and extremely creamy & delicious autumnal fudge. We had our two small dogs with us and they immediately brought over a dog bed and asked if they’d like a water bowl. Great service for us humans and our four legged friends. I highly recommend this lovely revamped hotel.

3 Netherly PlaceOn travelling through the area I visited Ballater village and found this little gem. I found the surroundings very unique and enjoyable. I had a pot of tea and a cake which was yummy. I found the staff were helpful the environment was clean tidy and organised. I believe the coffee is great too! So if you are in the area definitely check it out 🙂

56 Braemar RoadThis is a fabulous hotel with great service and fantastic views. We had the room at the top of the house and the view was stunning. Dinner was exceptional and delicious. The whole house has been renovated to a very high standard. We would thoroughly recommend it if you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area.
