Can't complain about the fish, it was excellent. The chips however, absolutely awful. Undercooked, hard and didn't seem to be fresh.

First fish and chips in the UK so i have nothing to compare. The fish was cooked fresh and the portion size is excellent. The batter had zero seasoning so while the fish was good quality there simply wasn't much flavor. It tasted better when I removed the crust. The fries we excellent and salted. This would be a 5 star review if the fish was seasoned for flavor

I love the fact that the fish is fried when you order it and not under heat lamps. I gave it 3 stars because the batter had no flavor and the fish tasted bland. This was my first time in London eating the fish and chips. The fries are delicious. The staff are super friendly and pleasant.

Best chipshop around all fish is cooked fresh you have to wait for 6-8 minutes but at least you know your food is fresh. Very lovely family run business.

Hands down best chippy in SE London. Love the fact the fish is cooked to order and wrapped separately - the small things in life! Couple that run it are the salt of the earth, lovely people 5 ⭐

I was looking for a decent fish and chip shop after my usual one closed down and tried other shops and it wasn’t half as good as this one. The fish is nice and crispy on the outside and inside is soft and not soggy like others I have tried. The curry sauce is not like the tradition one as it is little spicy but it is very nice. A large fish and chips cost £12 (cod £8 and chips £4, Uber Eats) which is very reasonable price compare to other places that charges around £10 for a medium cod only. Note: Photos of a small cod and half a portion of chips.

Fish and chips are good, but the fried chicken has been put in the heated food display too long that makes it no juice inside anymore

Delicious and freshly cooked fish and chips, we are relieved to have found a great chippie which seem few and far between nowadays. Also reasonably priced. Fish is always cooked fresh to order. Mushy pea fritter and curry sauce are amazing. Check opening times before visiting as closed on some of afternoons and Sundays

Best fish and chips I've had, even their chicken was better than all the chicken places I've been to. The fish had very crispy batter yet inside was flakey and moist, goes perfect with their curry sauce. Definitely will be coming here again.

I have been here for roughly around 2 years now and I have to say it is my favorite fish and chip/ burger place I have ever been to. The staff are really friendly and the food gets delivered to you under 5 minutes. It only has one table but you know that's alright as its kind of meant to be a take away place. The fish meat, everything you know is fresh from when you take a bite to when you finish your food.

Used to be a great chippy. The fish is pretty okay, but now that reconstituted supermarket chips are used instead of potatoes, will have to avoid. A shame because nice people - hope they will turn it around

Chippy friday has never tasted so good now that i have St james fish bar round the corner from me. The fish actually tastes of fish, a good sign that the fish is indeed fresh and not frozen. A man and his wife own St James fish bar so being a family owned business makes me proud to support them.

🚇 Queens Road Peckham 🍺 £4.50 Fosters The Lord Nelson is located halfway down the Old Kent Road on the border between Bermondsey and Peckham. There are not many stations close by, I got the Overground to Queens Road Peckham, it’s a twenty minute walk to get here. This pub dates from the early 19th century and is Grade II listed. It is now only one of two pubs left on the Old Kent Road, this once great drinking thoroughfare used to have 39 pubs. The interior of this pub is just magnificent, so much so that CAMRA have said it is an interior of outstanding national historic importance. The servery is located on the right hand side of the main bar and has a stunning detailed structure above. Another impressive feature of this pub are the spectacular Victorian gilded mirrors, one of which captures Lord Nelson at the battle of Cape Vincent in 1797. There is plenty of seating throughout including stools around the bar. There are two pool tables, a dartboard and a couple of fruit machines and not forgetting a proper pub carpet. The beer selection is pretty straightforward and offers a line up of familiar keg favourites. I decided on a Fosters, my pint was great, price point was reasonable at less than a fiver. There is no food served here at present. I arrived around 2.30pm on a showery Saturday afternoon in August. The pub was fairly quiet with half dozen local punters in attendance. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed with a local pub feel. I got chatting to the manager who was lovely, she was telling me all about the pub’s recent challenges and the Irish Landlady who has run this pub for nearly 30 years. She also mentioned the Monopoly pub crawlers who visit from time to time. If there was ever a pub that personifies a London Boozer, then this pub is definitely it. The building and decor are a thing of beauty, unlike any other London pub I’ve visited. I would wholeheartedly recommend you visit The Lord Nelson, a glorious London Pub. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 24.08.24 More London Pub info @londonpubmap 🍻

I was there for lunch yesterday. Since I was on the terrace, they told me to order with my smartphone via QR code. I opened the menu which does not describe the dishes you order. We ordered olives, French fries and two beetroot burgers. Since it is not specified in the menu, being written "hamburger", we thought it was beef stuffed with beets... instead it was an unpleasant beetroot patty. Without complaining, believing that the mistake could still be ours, we called the waiter and asked if there were any meat burgers: he told us that the only meat burger available was chicken. So we ordered two chicken burgers... and they brought us two sandwiches with fried chicken breast. I am a foreigner and I apologize, but even the English dictionary explains that "hamburger" is minced meat, preferably beef! To top it off, while they were bringing us chicken sandwiches, a local gentleman was telling all the customers sitting on the terrace to leave because a demonstration was about to start at the Shakespeare Theatre. We spent £100 and didn't eat. Shame on you! If you don't put descriptions on the menu, the dishes should correspond to the meaning of their name!
