My husband & I were celebrating our anniversary & we were going to be in the Bosherton area & wanted a special place to eat lunch. The desk attendant at our hotel in Tenby recommended St. Govan’s Inn Restaurant. We owe her a big tip! St. Govan’s Restaurant was a really cozy, pub type environment. The staff were great, the local beer they recommended was perfect & the food was DELICIOUS! We ordered the garlicy mushrooms which were served in a bread bowl with a sauce. They were AMAZING! I was afraid I had filled up on the delicious starter. We decided to split two meals so we ordered the chicken with mashed potatoes & the Bacon & Leek Pie with mashed potatoes & a side order of the 3 cheese macaroni & cheese. My husband was drooling over the Bacon & Leek Pie & didn’t really want to share! Everything we had was good but the Garlicy Mushrooms & the Bacon & Leek Pie really stood out! The waitress asked my husband where we would go for our next anniversary & he said maybe to Wales again so we could eat at St. Govan’s Restaurant again!

Came to Bosherston for a camping weekend, visited this pub, what a beautiful amazing place, dog friendly, also bought dog treats which is available at the bar and all proceeds go to the local animal shelter, staff was superb and really friendly and accommodating, they squeezed us in for Sunday lunch, and it was amazing, one of the best Sunday lunches I have had in a long time, lovely ales on tap and I really enjoyed the Summersby cider on tap, very refreshing, absolutely recommend this beautiful place.

We are very lucky to live in the area. This is a well run pub and we recommend a visit. Close to St Govan’s chapel and the lily ponds at Bosherton, this pub is definitely worth a visit. My husband loves the sausage sandwiches and the ham is off the bone, not cheap processed meat. In the winter months there’s always a welcoming fire lit, in the lounge to take the chill off and in the summer there’s a small garden area outside.

I really don’t want to write a bad review of any pub or restaurant right now as the hospitality industry is on its knees thanks to Covid, but had to share the strange and unhappy experience we had here on my birthday 2 weeks ago. I hope that management read these reviews and take them as constructive feedback to improve.. Anyway, having booked ahead we arrived and were seated, there were 4 other tables occupied so it wasn’t busy. We waited a while for someone to take a drinks order, to be told there were no ales at all on tap. No beer. In a pub. Ok. It happens. Never mind. We ordered alternative drinks and our food. I had seen that a “seafood platter” was an option, and being so near the sea was looking forward to some fresh fish or seafood. Forget that. I could’ve gone to Iceland (shop not country) - was informed that the platter consists of scampi, battered prawns, crab cakes and calamari. All from the freezer straight into the deep fat fryer. Oh well, forget that, I may as well go the whole frozen food hog and have scampi & chips then, which I ordered. My partner ordered the St Govan’s burger which sounded like a decent bet - surely local meat in a homemade bun couldn’t go wrong? We then waited. And waited. And waited. Others who had arrived after us were served. And finished. I was about to go and enquire when I saw the waiter (manager?) look over at us, do a double take, look at his notepad, hurriedly key our order in to the system and then disappear. No-one came to explain or apologize. Our food arrived about 10 minutes later which tells you all you need to know about how good it was. ‘Finest wholetail scampi’ was just scampi, ‘rustic chips’ were frozen chips except they had a bit of skin on (which apparently makes them rustic) but worst of all was the burger which tasted exactly like the worst kind of cheap frozen burger you can buy. Not delicious sounding local meat formed into a patty, it was grey, thin and rubbery, with a taste that took us back to the 1970’s. If they had run out of the decent burgers this was a very, very poor substitute. When our plates were cleared I was brave and said (very gently and I hope kindly) that I know you’re working hard but if you have forgotten to put someone’s order through it is actually good customer service to fess up and say sorry (we’d waited 45 minutes by the time he’d realized, so nearly an hour by the time we got our food) and all I got in reply was a grunt! No apology, nothing. I was speechless! It takes us Brits quite a lot of bad before we will make a fuss, and generally I just put up and shut up. And I wasn’t stroppy or entitled. Perhaps I should’ve been. I didn’t even mention how poor the food was, we’d eaten it after all, as we were hungry, but jeez I wouldn’t pay £13 each to eat that sort of frozen cheap food again. Anyway he silently knocked the drinks off our bill when my partner paid. I guess that was meant to be an apology but it didn’t really cut it. Some basic customer service training is badly needed. And a menu upgrade, or alternatively prices that reflect the freezer-to-fryer/microwave quality if fresh ingredients are too financially risky in the current climate (and I get that). We will be coming back to beautiful Bosherston but we won’t be coming back here until things change a bit. I really genuinely hope they do. PS this is only the second review I have ever written on Trip Advisor and the other one was also a birthday meal - we don’t go out often and when we do it’s a treat, but sadly this wasn’t!

We decided we would give them the benefit of the doubt despite the poor recent reviews. We phoned in advance to check that they had the vegan options stated on the menu which they said they had, however after ordering the vegan burger I was told they didn’t have a burger and I was offered vegan sausages instead. I accepted and when it came it was literally some vegan sausages on a bun with about 3 pieces of lettuce, a couple of pieces of red onion and a thin spread of relish that definitely looked like it had come in a bottle. I said to the waitress that it looked a bit bland and asked if there was any chance of sprucing it up, maybe they could add some fried onions, to which she replied that they only did raw onions. I pointed out that if they had a frying pan they could probably manage to fry some. The chips were fine and salad was fresh but had no dressing. The meal was edible but very boring and at £13 a rip off. My mum had a veggie lasagne which was marginally better but certainly not worth the £13 price tag. I have had far better meals for a fraction of the price. I think they need to make more effort with the vegan option or reduce the price and the staff need to be more accommodating.

We have been visiting The St Govans Inn for many years, and have always been very happy with the food and drink and atmosphere, unfortunately our visits over the past year have been very disappointing, whereas we used to get wholesome, hearty meals at reasonable prices, and friendly enthusiastic staff, there is now a very different vibe, with the staff being less than friendly, sometimes to the point of offishness, and the food quality has changed hugely, there is a similar menu now, but the cooking leaves much to be desired, the once fabulous Welsh Cawl is now almost unpleasant, (tried by different members of our party on three occasions) the other meals we ordered were a mixture of under cooked, and over cooked, resulting in a member of our group feeling very unwell after eating the under done Beef burger, we phoned the pub twice the next day to let them know, and were told that someone would call us back, but they never did.I understand the Covid restrictions put an extra burden on Pubs and restaurants, but that really shouldn't affect the cooking.Sad to say that we wont be visiting The St Govan's Inn again.

A lovely building in a great location that has a lot of potential. However, the food is very overpriced. £9 for a baked potato with beans on. £10.50 for a bowl of macaroni and cheese with some bread. £6.95 for a few pieces of frozen deep fried seafood. Almost £4 for a small bowl of fried mushrooms. If the food was high a high standard I would understand these prices, however, it is just average pub food. No steaks available, 1 vegetarian option that was a frozen burger. In addition the toilet was an absolute state with water all over floor. In these times you'd think that hygiene and cleanliness would be a top priority. Very very disappointing.

Sunday evening meal, great variety, nice food and friendly staff, have a separate eating area for non doggy people, but dogs are very welcome in one half of the pub. Good value. My daughter loved the 3 cheese Mac with salad and bread, surf and turf for my son which looked great and my husband enjoyed a steak, my curry was delicious.

A good range to choose from - standard pub meals but all freshly cooked and delicious. Veggie and GF options. Quick service and lovely staff. Nice to feel welcome with our dogs - separate dining for those without dogs.

Stopped here briefly for chips and a half pint. Much more modern inside than the outside suggests, a really nice and cosy place to spend some time. Excellent menu with some local dishes and vegetarian/vegan options and a cheerful, welcoming atmosphere.

Popped in for Sunday lunch with a party of 8 and 2 dogs, wonderful welcome, good beer food and a relaxed atmosphere. Service reflects the part of the country your in . Not superfast not superslow. This is pembrokeshire take a chill pill and change down a gear or two, have a chat with a couple of locals at the bar and learn the history of the area and maybe a couple of places to visit you hadn't thought of. Top place highly recommend after a walk round the lily ponds.

We visited this lovely pub for Sunday lunch. Fortunately we had pre-booked a table as the place is very popular. The food was excellent in both quality and quantity with a selection of roast meats available with all the trimmings and plenty of fresh seasonal veg. Although the main course was ample we did manage to squeeze in a wonderful dessert! The service was good and the staff very friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend the St Goven's

Considering the warm and sunny Easter weather had been predicted for a good ten days, you would think that over an Easter weekend they would have ordered enough beer and brought on more staff. As it was, there was only one ale left by the middle of Saturday night, generally one person behind the bar (possibly the landlord) who had zero sense of urgency in anything he did, and food that took an hour and a half to arrive. Considering the bog standard nature of the food (frozen chips and tinned mushy peas) you would have thought that this would be food that should come out on time. This has never really been all that good of a pub - but it's the only one for several miles and that is probably what the owners rely on. It could be so much better with relatively little effort. £5 a pint more or less, and £14 for very standard food. Never again.

This place has been such a lovely part of my family’s growing up. We have visited St Govan’s for about 10 years but sold our caravan a year ago as our kids got too old. We took our young adults back today and wow what a change the same menu and drinks but 30-40% more expensive a curry that was £8 is now £14 three drinks £14 when before we had change from £10. Clearly the owners now realise they have a captive audience and intend to fleece them for every penny they can. I always remember the same guy at the bar gently sipping his beer no surprise I didn’t see him today as the staff were cold and the prices hot.

Awful food for high prices ... scampi was undercooked, chips synthetic and certainly not rustic, stroganoff tasted like dishwater- one of our party has felt ill ever since eating the scampi...

West Wales is a beautiful place, but very easy to get lost! Recognised this pub as being one of the closest to our rented cottage so headed there hoping for some directions.

I have been visiting this area for three years now and have often eaten and stayed at The St Govan's Inn. Previously I have enjoyed the experience, however, this time things were not as they were. We were ignored at the bar for quite a while and not made to feel welcome in any way. There was an overall odour of old chip fat which put us off eating or even staying for any more drinks! The food coming out looked OK but not tempting and the dishes on the "Specials Board" have not changed since my first visit. As this area has fantastic local ingredients this shows a lack of imagination. Sorry St Govan's Inn, although you are in a fantastic location, there are better places near by.

We visited this pub for Sunday lunch when we stayed in Bosherton. We were a party of nine. Due to the fact that we were unable to get there at lunch time, we requested if we could dine later. We ate at 4pm which at that time we appreciated. Unfortunately, when the food arrived it was obvious that it had been cooked at lunch time, and was re-heated for us. The supposing roast potatoes were rock hard and cold. The quantity, was shocking, If you like hot food and reasonable amount do not visit this pub you will be wasting your money.

Visited for lunch after a walk .It is friendly and inviting but was put off by the scruffy ,tatty and very dog-eared menu . Had the cawl which was served in a large bowl with a bread roll and a garnish of cheese . Unfortunately , the potatoes in the stew were not cooked and still hard . Also the same problem with the side dish of chips .

Good, tasty pub food such as fish and chips, pie and lasagna. The fresh vegetables were tasty. Friendly service. It is busy so you may want to make a reservation. Popular with families. My only disappointment was that a dog was allowed on the dog-free side by the restaurant tables.

Good veggie option Sunday lunch and the place was not too busy. Comments around the table said the beef was overdone. Trimmings served separately in serving bowls including cauliflower cheese and mush
