Spicy Basil in Brent

I ordered on phone… When I got there.. 1.Inconvenienced me by doing cash only.. (you want to avoid tax, obviously, I have businesses too) 2.I went through the inconvenience, of going to multiple stores trying to get cash for apple pay, then had to scavenge my car for coins. 3. AT LEAST 30 mins later i managed to get enough for the food 4. Then I very politely*** asked to make me fresh food as it has been sitting there for a while. 5. They didn’t, and said I couldnt even do another order. Very rude and bad way to treat customer…. No courtesy or professionalism.. Last time I was there A fierce looking woman was eating in and she was very picky with her vegetables and was honestly just being very unreasonable with them, she sent the food back to the kitchen 3 TIMES!! And they had no problems.. But when it’s a man like me (WHO THEY HAVE ALSO INCONVENIENCED VERY MUCH) all of a sudden their courteous ways have gone out of the window and they want to serve me old food… USUALLY VERY GOOD FOOD (Hats off to the chefs. big respect) …AND USUALLY 6/10 SERVICE (It’s meh but bearable)…. but this time just completely left a bad taste in my mouth😒 I’m not a difficult person to deal with trust me i’ve worked customer service etc.. before. im a very fair and reasonable person but the service staff absolutely took my mick out of me… for no good reason… i always talk politely, with manners, with a smile. Very disappointed.. Managament need to take a look

Fui a Spicy Basil basado en comentarios y no me impresionó en absoluto. Tomó el curry de langostino rojo que era de £ 12 y era agradable, pero nada diferente a otros lugares tailandeses en Londres. Además, tiene que pagar en efectivo, por lo que cobra £ 12 por un simple curry / pad tailandés cuando no paga cargos por tarjeta de crédito y se basan en una zona con alquileres baratos (es decir: Kilburn ) , es una estafa - off . Hay restaurantes tailandeses en zonas caras como Hampstead que cobran prácticamente lo mismo.

Mixed feeling about the place - Pros: amazing taste 🥳🥳🥳 + real Thai chefs 🥳🥳🥳 - Cons: the waitress cannot speak English. Simple order such as “i have number 34” became a conversation challenge Portion is small

Buzzing and bustling if flavour is what you want you will get it here... It's always busy but quick turn around so rarely waiting to long.... The food is fantastic and great portions they really deliver on value!

I had great food ordered number 73 with a group of friends I had amazing customer service from Ali on the other hand the worker Alex had 0 customer service isn’t attentive and was playing candy crush on shift or watching tik tok Ali needs a raise what a guy

Tasty food served hot and quick

Some of the tastiest thai food ive had, didnt wait too long and service was excellent. the etthiopian lady who served us was brilliant and also ensured my friends sesame allergy was taken care of.

Mi esposa ordenó una comida para llevar y condujo 10 minutos para recoger la comida. No nos dijeron que era efectivo solo en el teléfono cuando pedimos. Entré al restaurante a recoger comida y fui a pagar. Me encontré con una camarera / cajero excepcionalmente grosero que dijo 'solo efectivo'. Dije que no lo sabía y no traje efectivo. Ella repitió esto varias veces sin una sonrisa o contacto visual. Pregunté dónde estaba el cajero más cercano y me fui. No tenía tarjeta física pero fui al cajero esperando que permitiera Apple Pay. El cajero no tenía una opción sin tarjeta, así que volví al restaurante, bastante estresado. Le pregunté si había un pesebre de guardia. El personal dijo que no, lo que me pareció extraño. La misma camarera / cajero se negó a ayudar cuando le expliqué que no podía obtener dinero en efectivo y vivía a 10 minutos. Solicité si podía hacer una transferencia. El cajero acaba de decir ‘solo efectivo’. Dije que no estaba preparado para conducir de vuelta a casa y le pregunté si estaba preparado para poner la comida en el contenedor en lugar de darme / ayudar. Dijo que podía cancelar y que tiraría la comida. Estaba disgustado por su respuesta, así que tomé la comida y me fui. Ella me siguió y yo afirmé que nunca me habían tratado así. Dije que estaba más que feliz de pagar y hacer una transferencia. Después de varios segundos discutiendo, dijo que podía pagar al chef a través de una transferencia bancaria. ¡Ella entonces produjo una máquina de tarjetas! Le dije ‘estás bromeando’ pagué la cuenta, ella me pidió que no volviera a pedir de Spicy Basil y me fui.

The overall picture is very good. Each dish is plentiful and not expensive. The fried rice is delicious, but the Tom Yum Kung is not like Tom Yum at all. There should be some modifications to suit the local area.

My daughter just called now to place an order and the guy hung up the phone when she asked a question about ingredients. ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL! Avoid at all costs if you want any respect.

This Thai food place has been the best chicken pad Thai and chicken fried rice I’ve had anywhere in the world 🤤 It is a classic hole-in-the-wall with cash only payments and limited seating, but SO worth it! I crave it constantly. Highly recommend, just bring cash!

Just my favourite place to eat in London. I’ve never had a bad meal here. You must try Spicy Basil. The creamy red curry is delicious.

The chef that made my food was amazing I cleaned off my food. I ordered the same thing for takeaway and the food is not as nice (different chef). The food depends on the chefs that cook them.

The portions are big and it's definitely worth the hype. In particular the spicy noodles with chicken is delicious - restaurant is pretty small and can get busy.

Not as tasty as it used to be but their beef and rice is great. Takeaway cos the restaurant setting is not my vibe.

The food is here soooo incredibly tasty! The spicy noodles and the pad Thai are amazing and you can ask for vegetarian versions which they make with tofu. The food is some of the best in London, the portions are huge and the prices are low! The service is very fast and the staff are great. Note that it’s cash only

My favourite Thai place ever. Not fancy not fake and super yummy plus fairly priced. I have to say though staff are quite short with people especially the person answering the phone for deliveries-quite rude unfortunately.

I have been coming here for over 30 years. The standards have dropped big time. Service is still the same and they still charge cash only. If you going to charge cash only you do it to keep the prices low. They are a cafe not a restaurant but now charging expensive prices like a restaurant. Also standard of food has dropped, food is no longer tasty, smaller portions and food served luke warm and not hot. Also last time I went me and my wife had bad indigestion which means the quality of ingredients has fallen too. I doubt I will ever go again. Shame!

It is a shame they dont take cards for payment. They are loosing £’s like crazy. They do have machine but they dont want to use it so they dont pay taxes.

I can’t get enough of their food

Amazing, Halal, delicious Thai food. Quick service and good size portions. Spicy means spicy which is great for the sinuses! Extra spicy available.

I ate here after many years and I would say it's somewhat the same maybe a slight difference. They didn't have much stuff from the menu when we tried to order for some reason. The chicken and prawn dumplings had this freezer burn taste like you can almost taste what other meat was in the freezer it was like a mixed emotion of feeling while trying to chew it because it didn't taste like fresh hand made dumplings. We got the pad thai it doesn't taste like authentic pad thai, this is really saucy for some reason, but close enough. The food is decently priced. I guess it's okay for a local fast food place I wouldn't say it's the best thing ever.

The only reason I go back to this place is because the food is nice but I started to go less often as usual because one they have increased their prices second they will insist on squashing you with other customers and refuse to use their basement on some days. The other annoying thing is they do not accept Cash and twice I couldn’t go to eat there because none of the cash machines around were working and there are three banks near to each other. I asked the restaurant whether they can make an exception and take card because I couldn’t withdraw any money in any of the nearby banks but they refused.

Wonderful little hole in the wall in north London. They serve a variety of classic Thai food that is, at most, the perfect amount of spice. The place is very basic but has a certain charm. We ordered everything at the same time and the mains were ready in under five minutes, really showing the skill of the kitchen. Everything was wonderfully flavoured and nothing too spicy but enough to let you know that it’s there. And it’s all halal.

Authentic, delicious and great service all make for an amazing Thai experience. We love the Tom Kha soup, the chicken green curry, the spicy beef and chilli noodles and the pad Thai all with halal options. You will be back…trust me!

I have been coming for years, quality and great service. The egg, soya sauce chicken is my favourite.

Extremely poor customer service, been coming here for 5 years but unfortunately will not be coming back again! Got our order wrong twice, then all of the staff including the kitchen staff were giving us dirty looks like it was our fault. Then tried to charge us extra for takeaway containers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

The mains were fantastic, hot, spicy, and packed with flavour. The dumplings arrived cold, and hard. The waitress was very rude, and inattentive. We sat at the bottom.

The chicken and prawn dumplings were nice and the money bags were bland. The chicken rice dish was ok and the prawn noodle dish was nice.

Ordered a large rice and the container wasn't filled to the top as usual. Service has dropped over the years. I've been a longstanding customer but the price rises and poor service is making me choose elsewhere as the portions have been reduced over time whilst prices only increase.

Food was great and yummy for the tummy, issue is i was live streamig and show casing the place on stream, where the managment got involved, than was insulted and spat on by owners, a ruthless gangesters if you ask me! What they were hiding is your guess. Probably staff not registerd. Anyway i dont care i still go back or do a take away when mood calls.

It’s a good Thai if you just want a quick meal. The food arrives a couple of minutes after you order and it tastes authentic. However, when I came last night I noticed there was only a slither of chicken in my pad Thai so I was disappointed.

I have always walked past this place but never went in to try it until today. This place is always packed with people and I can tell why!!! The place was full so the waitress took us downstairs with a lot more seating available. The food was delicious as expected, we got recommended a bunch of items from the waitress and they all turned out to be delicious. My favourite was the starter which was the prawn and chicken dumplings!!! Highly recommended this place.

Great Atmosphere and amazing food. Small and cosy restaurant, can get quite busy. I would recommend the Chicken chilli garlic basil noodles, with less chillies because it can be very spicy! Customer service was very good, food was ready within 5-10 minutes. Highly recommend this place, I would go again.

Excellent service, quick to serve a table. Upon taking our food order, quick service of food, food tasted delicious. Travel over an hour for the food. Never disappointed. Only nag is the price has gone up since last visit. For price increase expect the portion to be a little bigger.

One of those places, great tasting food (although quality is not always as stellar as it used to be), but a bit dodgy! They only take cash and they are not very clean at all. Tables dirty and no foods covered in the kitchen, everything just looked a bit run down.

Do not fall for spicy basic budget food insta stories. The food is subpar. Not worth the money, prawns are very bad quality easy to tell they were frozen for weeks. Seating not that great. Server also forgot to place my main order. Had to cancel as my company had finished theirs. Won't be going again

When I 1st ate here 11 yrs ago, I was paying £5.50 for the meal I enjoy having, now that same meal is £11. Meals keep going to up, it's ridiculous. Typical Asian restaurant not excepting card, cash only. Avoiding the tax man. Probably using the unopened spicy basil in cricklewood as a money laundry shop. Well the food was good. Suppose that's good enough to eat there.

I've had a few recommendations for this place. Omg did it not disappoint. Its the tastiest thai food I've eaten. People kept coming in and out on a Tuesday night, so you know its good. I had the chicken satay, the peanut sauce with it was sooo good. The Beef pad thai was really good as was the Spicy Basil Chicken Stir Fry, super tasty with a kick to it. Look forward to coming again. Food is halal Mosque a short walk away Its a busy area, so parking might be tricky to find.

The best Thai food in london. Everything is authentic about this place. The dishes are extremely tasty. The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is buzzing. The portions are big and despite a small price rise, it's still great value for money. The Chicken Satay and Pad Thai are my favourite dishes.

This is not a big place, but was a wonderful experience and the food is made fresh to the order so always at its best. If you have prawn crackers, best to get the spicy ones.

I was a loyal customer for years and it had always been the best-value restaurant on the high street (though service of some was an issue). However, the price tag has been raised for too much with the name of inflation. (For example £12 for something charged £6 before) It's a shame we lost a good choice in Kilburn.
