Spice Kitchen takeaway in Stevenage

Ordered on a Saturday so could see was in for a wait. Ordered for 6:15pm got an email to say would be 15min late. Arrived 5:30pm way earlier than wanted the food to arrive as ordered for family who were due to arrive after 6. Food is good as always but why have option to order for a time then not follow it

Don’t normally leave reviews but this was 5* Early , Hot and tasty! Also requested something and that was met! Will defiantly use again!!

It was left on the door step, no knock or indication it had been delivered, it was stone cold when found, I always use this restaurant but won't anymore

Not up to the usual high standard, the food was warm at best and the pilau rice I ordered and paid for to go with my curry didn’t come.

Didn’t disappoint, second time of using Spice Kitchen, food was hot and very tasty. Recommend this takeaway.

The 'hot' morisa wasn;t very hot. A tasty sauce, with chillies added, but not a hot dish. Either needs more chillies or a hotter sauce. All seemed well cooked though. Veg curry disappointing from every restaurant, and this was no exception.

Food was just warm when it arrived. First time we had been here. Won’t be returning

Excellent food with excellent service

Food lacked flavour salt and spices. Very bland and lamb was not tender.

Food was ok, but vegetable samosa extremely spicy and arrived colder than hoped for, not bad taste but shame had to warm up!

Good food, on time as always. Only complaint is that there is a lot of it and its all so good. Feeling stuffed!

Food was pretty tasteless across the whole meal. We had a variety of dishes and they were all consistently tasteless. Lamb was inedible in the tikka massala too. Won't order again

The food was amazing however I would expect the madrass to be slightly hotter

Delivery was over an hour late despite an alert from Just Eat to say it had been delivered on time. Couldn't get through to the restaurant but eventually had a text from Just Eat to say there was a delay. Food arrived cold with unpleasant driver. Not a good experience.

Order was delivered 1 hour 15 mins late than committed. Didn't like the taste

My food was nice and I enjoyed it thoroughly, however was about an hour later than originally estimated (fair enough it was New Year’s Eve) but being unable to contact the restaurant was very anoying

Our New Year’s Eve meal was ordered at approximately 6.40. The initial delivery time was 8pm that changed to 8.40pm the restaurant phone was engaged the whole evening the meal arrived at 10pm cold and inedible I contacted just eat and asked for a refund I got £3.00 for a £30.00 meal that was binned

Says order delivered and it has not been snd it’s over an hour late... can’t get though to restaurant to speak to them snd just eat not responding either ... made over 300 calls to restaurant to try and get through

1st order with them never again over an hour late they took phone off hook so no contact food taste rubbish worst order I’ve ever made

Ordered 1hour 30 minutes ago still no delivery and they arent answering the phone.

Covered in oil, had to spoon the oil out before I could eat.

Chicken was not good quality. Had the wrong texture, very chewy. flavour was good. Chips were slimy and greasy. Naan was cold upon delivery. Used to be a nice place, won’t be going back again.

Not transparent regarding delivery charges. I'd suggest those in charge at the restaurant pay a visit to Just Eat (both the app and the web page) as though you were a customer and think honestly if you'd notice that deliveries to Benington cost an extra £2. The first we knew of it was the driver at the door asking for it. Getting upset at your customers at the door because they don't have cash to pay a charge which you didn't inform them about is pretty poor form! Possibly think about the fact that we ordered online and used a card for a reason and add the charge to the order on Just Eat. Also think about the fact we're living in a time where we're being discouraged from paying with cash due to risk of infection. "Everyone around here does it" from the driver suggests you're aware there's a problem but you (or your driver at least) insists on blaming your customers rather than doing something about it to make it clear.

The main food was okay. Tasted good. The samosa were not good. Really tasty nasty. Might be because of the distance, though warm not hot. But the taste - vegetable taste it was not. Might try again in the future, but not the samosa.

Such a shame guys, your food is normally piping hot and tasty. Unfortunately in this instance the food was cold so really not that enjoyable

Ordered from here tonnes of times before and it is usually great but today the food was very late, cold and not as good quality as normal. Very disappointed.

Food tasted great but the naan was cold and rubbery. I assume that's because it was sitting in the bag for too long, besides the naan the flavours were really nice.

The food delivered was excellent, green salad and mint sauce ordered didn’t arrive.

We normally live it here, but got the wrong order this time. I’m a vegetarian and my vegetable vindaloo came with chicken, so I couldn’t eat it. The food quality of what we could have was very good.

Delicious ~ a tasty treat of a takeaway!

All three chicken dishes had chicken with gristly & stringy bits. Took it out in the end & just ate the sauce. I’ve never experienced it before, it’s generally really lovely. Total waste of money this time. Maybe someone inexperienced cut the chicken up or something, but was awful. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Arrived cold. I don’t have a microwave at the moment either so had to start the oven up and shove it on there... When I say cold, I don’t mean Luke warm, I mean like been in the fridge cold. Really really disappointed.

Tasty, hot and on time at a reasonable price why it's so hard to find a place that can manage all 4 is beyond me but these guys did. Will deffinately order again.

Food was good but was originally delivered to wrong house. Got phone call telling me good was left I’m back garden but wasn’t so called back. Found out was left in garden of another house up the road!

Disappointing this time. Samosas and poppadoms tasted a little stale, Wife’s Chicken tikka Korma little watery. Murghi masala was good.

This was honestly the worst Indian that I have ever had. All of the dishes were oily, anything that was creamy in consistency was split. The mint sauce tasted fizzy, as though it had gone off and the inside of the onion bhaji’s tasted off too. The naan tasted oddly lemony.

Without doubt the worst Indian food I have ever eaten. Saag Paneer swimming in grease and not a single cube of paneer in the dish. Never again. I'll be asking for my money back.

Spice kitchen are consistently excellent. I’ve lost count of the number of meals I’ve ordered from them and I haven’t been disappointed yet. Probably the best Indian takeaway I’ve tried in Stevenage

Disgusting looking Rahita, curdled. Basic curry with a lot of oil. Bhajis were pretty oily too. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Brilliant as always!! Nice portion size and lots of flavour and a great bunch of people in the kitchen if you ever go and collect your food for yourself you will actually see them make it.

Arrived early, delivery driver was respectful in the delivery. Food was Really really good! I had the mixed starter , Ceylon chicken and a garlic naan it all arrived hot everything was perfectly cooked. I Would recommend spice kitchen and definitely be ordering again from them.

Flavour, taste and quality of the food was fantastic and we are pretty dam fussy. It literally melted in the mouth. We savoured every mouthful. It was delivered early and with a smile. Also completely COVID-19 friendly - rung bell and stepped well back - totally within socially distantly acceptable . :)

Been ordering from Spice Kitchen for years, first meal that wasn't excellent. Food arrived lukewarm, chicken appeared like poor cuts rather than the good cuts from usual and very dry. Bombay potatoes tough and tasted like they'd been sat a while. Overall got the impression it was pre-cooked and microwaved, such a shame as they are usually so good

The food tasted great and was amazing for the value! The only negative is that when it arrived it needed to be warmed up a bit.

Curry was lukewarm. Delivery 20 mins late. You only get 2 mini veg samosas for the price and it's not worth it. Nice sag aloo. pilau rice and naan bread and you get a few free extras too (sauces, poppadum)

Food was late. Ordered king prawn kaharai and king prawn tikka masala. Only three prawns in each dish. How can you justify charging £9.95 for three prawns, which were not even fresh?! Really disappointed. Additionally, their menu states that they have a food hygiene rating of 5. This is false advertising. Looked them up on the food standards agency website afterwards and their rating is lower than what they claim. . . Approach with caution.

We have ordered a few time and always been really nice but I don’t no what happened tonight the chicken was over cooked and tough and the meat samosa was burned black inside won’t be ordering again

The chicken Korma and traditional Chicken curry were both very bland and the chicken very dry in both dishes. Unfortunate but would try again in case it was a bad day.

Lovely, hot food, only problem was the jigsaw puzzle we had to put together for the popadoms (both in pieces) but you've got to break them to eat them

First time ordering here and we will be back! Food arrived promptly, was hot and fresh and nicely presented. Would particularly recommend the lamb dansak.

Don't mind it being late but just let us know. Both of us have been key workers since lockdown started so appriciate things are slower than normal but just let me know us know if its going to be late.

Terrible. Food wasn’t hot so had to microwave, was an hour late & ignoring my calls. There was also an item missing. Just Eat also can’t help.

Food extremely late. No answer at all when called and I tried called a lot. Wrong food eventually delivered. As no one answering phone we drove to the take away. They redid the food which was ok but not worth the wait. Also witnessed no one answering the phone which was ringing constantly.

Delivery driver was good, food took and he and half to arrive. Food was nice but not very spicy for a Madras and it was cold by the time we got our order.

We order from u regular and tonight the food was not good. The chicken was dry and the potatoes were hard just very disappointed as just not nice at all tonight

Late again. This time missing an item too. But still fantastic food so the plonkers we are, we keep ordering.

This restaurant is hopeless with timings, no matter what time you order they are always late... not by 5 mins, always a good half an hour! Even if you order at 12pm for a 6:30pm delivery. So unreliable. Yet, fantastic food! So frustrating.

naan was meant to be peshwari but didnt taste like it nothing inside, food was warm, 3 bits of chicken in the madras, we eat 4 times a month more sometimes from this takeaway each time it comes to about £25-£30 we expect our food to be delivered when you say it is going to be, same the last time we ordered so its not just a 1 off, not delivering cans of coke in the past it is getting reduclas now we will not be eating from here again very disappointed.

Food didn’t arrive at all! Took 2 hours to get through to the restaurant. To then be told they missed out our order. Very unhappy with customer service.

The phone number doesn't work. My order was due at 19.40 and am still waiting for it now at 20.19 with no way of contacting the restaurant this is bad service

They missed the note asking whether my balti could be lamb, but it was still really nice

Lagan lamb is really tender and flavourful! Delivery right on time granted I know the wait time will probably be long given lockdown situation so I ordered it an hour's advance. Food was still warm just not piping hot. I'd order from them again.

Food was nice. Delivery a bit slow but it s to be expected in these circumstances. One item missing off a relatively big order, these things happen. Refund given quickly. I would definitely use them again though.

I ordered my food was given a time for delivery it went well over that and then when my food arrived it was missing part of my order i contacted the restaurant the person i spoke to was rude and unhelpful to me i was told they basically were to busy to bring my missing item and they would make a note and next time i order they will give me a discount this doesn't help when you have ordered a meal to be quite honest I'm not sure i will use them again after the way they dealt with me...

I will keep coming back here. Excellent food.
