Spice in Babergh

After a tricky start trying to place our order on their website which failed, we ended up phoning our order through and had very good food delivered to our holiday cottage within the hour. Would recommend and use again if in the area.

The title says it all. Ordered a takeaway on web. Told it would be 50 minutes. Phoned when ten minutes late, told it would be another 10 minutes. It arrived an hour after that, and what we got was wrong. What we did get was nice, but not what Ordered. We were told they were busy, but it is a Saturday evening so maybe plan for that? Probably won't use again.

We have been using Spice since we moved here 12 months ago. We have NEVER had a poor meal and would highly recommend them. They ALWAYS deliver on time.

My husband doesn’t like garlic so we asked if he could have a curry without and it was no problem at all. The gentleman who took our order was very accommodating and my husband really enjoyed his meal. The portions were generous, the service was great. We will definitely return when we are next in the area.

Last week my new partner and I decided on a take away 'Indian" but saw this establishment also delivered. I duly phoned and the phone was answered by a most agreeable gentleman who knew the close area we were in (it's a small outlying village) and even had some local knowledge. We ordered over the phone, the phone rang bang on the time of expected delivery, it was the same nice gentleman who just wanted to confirm the exact door. The food was piping hot, had obviously just been cooked. I am a long time fan of Eastern cuisine, and apparently I do not knock up a bad dish myself, so I have plenty to compare it with, it was outstanding, the use of fresh spices, and If they did use a common gravy with added ingredients for different dishes - as is often the case with some restaurants, it was far from obvious. My partner had the tandoori king prawns and they were perfectly cooked - no mean task! We are looking forward to tomorrow when we will call them again. Heartily recommended. Chris and Les.

Ordered while on holiday and was so happy they delivered all the way out to where I was. Curry was all delicious, good sized portions and sensible pricing.

Love the potatoes chopped. Best curry in Hadleigh and the owner is a gentleman. Kabuli palek is a good choice but paneer is not as expected i.e. hard cheese. Recommended,

We have used Spice twice recently. We were staying in a cottage nearby, so don’t live here. Generally we find Indian food great in the restaurant but it always so great when delivered. Spice delivered to a fairly remote barn between Hadleigh and Stoke By Nayland. That in itself was impressive, but it turns out the food was good too! Very tasty, still hot, good price.

Lovely take away every time! Always friendly staff and a wide and varied menu to choose from. Generous potions too. Fab flavours every time! Delivery prompt!

For us this is the best take away in Hadleigh - service is reliable generally and food is freshly cooked and consistently good

Having always chosen the 'old' Royal Bengal, we always have our takeaway from Spice as it is run by the former owners of The Royal Bengal, so we know what to expect, and that is delicious, freshly prepared and generous food. Always friendly in there and usually a job to get through on the phone, but we can't fault Spice!

Had 11 friends round as a belated celebration for my birthday. Ordered 11 different main courses, with accompanying rices, naans, papadums, side dishes, to be delivered to my home at 7.30pm. The food here is always exceptional and tonight lived up to expectations. Great flavours, good quantity, superb accompaniments, etc. Would highly recommend. Always use this takeaway, it's THE BEST.

Since moving from London its been hard to find an Indian take away that matches the one near us in Barnet but this one has really ticked all the boxes. Food was delivered within 35 mins, was over the 4 mile free delivery (by 0.7miles) but delivered free anyway, and was hot and absolutely superb. Not the cheapest take away option but so good and portions are large, with a free poppadum to boot. Will be using again soon

Had friends round so ordered a takeaway with delivery, for the first time ever. I usually always collect. We're 5 miles away and their usual limit is 4 miles. Ordered £70 of food for 5 adults. Asked for the order at 6.30pm, not the 20 mins time (5.50pm) that they offered. Food didn't arrive until 7.15pm but think the lady had difficulty finding us. When I'd unpacked everything, I realised 2 portions of rice were missing. I rang and they offered to bring out to us straight away. I dished up and we tucked in regardless. As usual, food absolutely terrific. Still worth the wait! The owner turned up on my doorstep, personally apologising and bringing our 2 rice, he greeted me by first name. How lovely!I love this place. Nothing can put us off as the food is so good and the family are really lovely. Only gave four stars this time due to delay and missing rice. It's 5 star food!

Ordered a take away from here a few days ago. Really good food and arrived hot but took nearly an hour when we was told 30 minutes, would use again

Great food, fast service, can't speak too highly of Spice. Been going there since it opened and it has never let me down.

I reviewed Spice a year ago, I praised it and said that I hoped it would keep up the standard, well I am afraid it has become a bit hit and miss! had a takeaway yesterday evening including a main course of King Prawn Tikka which only had 4 prawns in it! maybe that is the usual portion but I think it's a bit mean for over £11, also the overwhelming taste was of cinnamon, the carrot in the veg curry was cut very small and I wondered if it was frozen veg - so disappointing as they started off so well

Great takeaway... Most consistent in quality of Indian dishes and does not disappoint! Phone first for faster service, busy times can mean a wait... Shame there is no restaurant!!!

Well, when they first opened the food was great. Had a takeaway tonight. It was vile. As were the previous 5. so one can't say we haven't tried! What a shame! Shan't be bothering again.. So sorry as it started off so brilliantly :(

We were visiting friends and decided on a takeaway. The food was excellent and not over-spiced and not swimming in grease as with some takeaways. We will definitely be coming back for more.

Heard many excellent reviews of this takeaway. My experience somewhat different..... burnt poppodums, under cooked naan, a meal that didn't live up to description in menu and 10 minutes late. Never again.

We have used Hadleigh Spice since it opened and tasted some more EXCELLENT curries.Our daughter had King Prawn Parthia, my Wife had King Prawn Buna and I had Chicken Tikka Biryani, plus Palec Paneer and Parath Bread .All Excellent and have this again.Piping hot when I got them Home.Very Good Indeed , you must try Hadleigh Spice you will not be dissapointed.Gavin

Went here for our takeaway and was very impressed food was fantastic service was very friendly and welcoming we phoned our order in and it was ready by the time we got there and lovely and hot when we got it home.well done spice very impressed.

I have had 3 takeaways from Spice so far, all delivered and all excellent! love the scampi bhaji and chicken dahnsak and the spinach and potato, my friend loved the aubergine bhaji, huge portions, freshly cooked, and piping hot each time. We are lucky to have this place in Hadleigh - please, please keep your standards up to scratch - so many places start off well and then go downhill - hope it doesn't happen here.

Decided to try this place after a night at the cinema and the requirement for easy food.Went in and the first impressions are good. Clean, tidy and with a pleasant ambience. Food order taken without fuss and collection time given. No worries there then. Off to the pub for a swift half, to return in due time to collect.Returned at the appointed time to find that orders were running late and ended up receiving our order over 30 minutes later than advised. This caused a little disappointment as it put a bit of a spoiler on the evening, good job it was only the two of us and that we didn't have guests. (overheard that some telephone orders were running nearly 1 hour late). If you are going to be running late say and people will make their own minds up as to place the order or not be left standing around for what could prove to be a very frustrating timeFood was good though and will try again and see if I have to change the overall rating.

We don't get takeaways often but have treated ourselves twice since Spice opened in November. Food is excellent, particularly love their Butter Chicken. The staff are really helpful and friendly, can't speak highly enough of them. The price also seems pretty good. Wouldn't bother with going anywhere else for an Indian takeaway as Spice is head and shoulders above the rest both in terms of quality of food and service.It's obviously very popular as I walk past it often and there are always people in their ordering takeaways. Last time we went on quiet Tuesday evening in town, in the very short space of time we waited for our order (about 10mins) they must have had another 10 orders by phone or in person so clearly they are doing something right.

This takeaway has just opened. Apparently the owners used to own The Bengal Restaurant the other side of the High Street which they sold only to find they were bored and not ready to retire so they have come back an Indian takeaway. We have so far had one meal from them and it was excellent, Not being acquainted with Indian food I cannot possibly describe the chicken curry which they chose for me as i did not want it hot and the second curry was hotter but eaten by my wife. We will be back as regulars.

Ordered for delivery, delivery was very quick with a very friendly service. The food was very nice and full of flavour I especially enjoyed the chicken bhuna. Will definitely order again and would recommend this to anyone. Great addition to Hadleigh.

Despite the fact this restaurant has only been open since Tuesday 3 November it has proved hugely popular already. Excellent takeaway meal (they only do takeaway) lovely and fresh and very tasty. Bit of a wait, as they are so popular, so would advise you phone in your order in advance...waiting time without pre order was around 40 to 60 minutes. Highly recommend
