Waited 30 minutes for food, was disappointed chips were anemic, fish was ok, curry sauce was like glue. Definitely not worth the wait. Won't be using them again.

When there as the last chip shop was really nice? Well what a let down the new one is. Curry sauce was like from the Chinese next door so was the chip. We are very disappointed with the food and all four lots of chips have gone to the birds and only a half of a jumbo was eaten. Wont be going back that’s for sure. Absolutely disgusting

I have visited about 10 times now having moved to the area. Portion sizes are very small so not great value for money but was tasty. I called to tell the lady I only got about 12 chips but she wasn’t interested. said that was a ordinary portion for £2.50! If you want a decent portion get yr chips from the Chinese next door!!

Scheming! Avoid!!! Ordered fish and chips without the chips. Not sure if you could call that fish and chips! I upgraded for bigger Cod, apparently chips is not included in the order. It does not make sense when they are offering large fish & chips lunch for £8.99 and only sending me Fish for £8.99 and want more money for chips. Instead of apologising for the way how their menu comes across so confusing, they wanted for me to pay more for chips! The reason why I wanted to upgrade to bigger Cod is because the order keeps getting smaller every time!

Great quality, inexpensive fish and chips. And, usefully, they do two portion sizes, (leading me to conclude that the people complaining that the sizes were relatively small had actually ordered the smaller size. The larger size is, unsurprisingly, larger). Friendly service, all appears freshly cooked and worth going back for.

Flavour is ok, portions are very small and in the past the way the lady has spoken to her young staff has left us uncomfortable, there are much better places to go (like next door)

Found this on Goode Maps. Wish I never. Took 10mins to make the order, only asked for 3 large jumbo sausage chips and curry. 1 gravy and chips, 1 curry and chips. Nothing was prepped, curry sauce came from a fridge in to the microwave. Sausage was awful, and to top it off she thought I asked for a cod. This is no way a fish & chip shop. Chips where reheated and only enough sauce for a few chips. Terrible!!

Been going here for years ,lovely friendly staff and amazing fish and chips,tried lots around Plymouth over the years but you won't get better than these,always go here now and always guaranteed a lovely meal.

Since the lockdown lifted slightly I have been travelling on my mobility scooter from Tamerton Foliot to the Southway chippy once a week. I am quite fussy with Fish n Chips and prefer Haddock. Yes, I had to wait whilst it was freshly cooked but it's worth it. Sitting out on one of the benches in the sunshine enjoying my lunch is a great way to spend a bit of time. I have always found the staff friendly and helpful. Go and enjoy!

Avoid ... fish was kids size and under cooked, same for the chips... just disgusting never have I such utter crap in my life , whole lot went in the bin , live to far away to return ......don’t buy from them !!!!!!!!!!

Been our local chippy for a good few years now, and always receive pleasant and warm service from them. The food is cooked quickly, tastes good and the prices are great. Always had reliable consistency from them and tried a lot on their expansive menu list. Overall, would very much recommend.

if you like your chippy swimming in grease, this the place to go. Literally a 5 minute journey home and even the bag was saturated in grease. Chips were scabby only good thing was the batteries sausage once stripped the battery. Would not recommend!

Visited here after not going for a while. Ordered cod and chips for £4.30 and it was the smallest piece of cod and the scabbiest chips I have seen. Do not bother to go here for, you can get much nicer food and cod that is bigger than a fish finger in any other chippy in Plymouth. RIP off

Very hit and miss with the chips, cod is very tiny and best ask and pay extra for large cod, then you get a small piece.

Pieza de ser absolutamente repugnante DE TAMAÑO COD pilchard con pasta un pequeño. Las patatas fritas en su mayoría bits ¿cómo pueden conseguir lejos con esto. Se llaman a sí mismos un fish and chips no merecen el nombre de "fish and chips chips he viajado por todo el Reino Unido y nunca en mi vida he visto un trozo de bacalao sirve de este tamaño. Debería darle vergüenza. No hace falta decir que nunca se venga aquí de nuevo. Indignado.

This was probably the worst fish & chips I've ever had. Chips were greasy & cod bites were cod-less all batter, the batter was soggy & curry sauce was like water. Won't be making the mistake of buying from here again.

They sell the worst chips I have ever had ,I bought a double portion on Thursday they were only warm,small,and over cooked or the oil needed changing

My god! Reading the measly 3 reviews about this place, I've no idea what the hell they're talking about!! I lived in southway for about 28 years and obviously I have shopped in the precinct for a long time, remembering it was originally called the key markets. This fish and chip shop has been there in all the time I can remember, which is donkeys years, so they're food can't be that bloody awful as the 3 "food critics" have moaned about. They are basically talking poppy cock. The fish and chips, and everything else on the menu is really tasty, and the staff speak perfect English, not engrish! ( rude and down right racist!!!) Yes, there may be some "chavy looking people about, but you get that pretty much anywhere you go, but I can't say a bad word about southway chippy, I've had hundreds of takeaway's there and not one was bad.

I live around the corner from here and have only visited this place once and that was enough. Being a traditional type of bloke I like my fish on a Friday and thought this'll do as its local. Absolute garbage is how I can describe my fish and I'll never go in there again. If you want a decent chippy go to the one in West Park. Great food and value.

A cluster of low grade shops in a run down depressed mini precinct, probably built with the best of intentions in happier times when there was a good deal more trade. The chip shop carries on but must wonder about the future. At least there is no prospect of a fast food chain moving here. When I whizzed through for a small portion of chips there was no sign of a queue but the server was friendly and the chips were OK. Averagely priced.

Avoid Southway fish and chips as if your life depended on it. The shopping precinct in the north of Plymouth has been in terminal decline for several years now, made even worse by the nearby factories closing resulting in a dramatic loss of footfall and now its full of empty shops, benefit "muvvers" skulking around the shops with nothing to do, and rat-boy shell-suited dole scroungers, a real sad symbol of urban decay.
